I agree with you that the whole thing at the airport was a publicity stunt. She easily could have taken a private jet.�

Do you think that Shania and/or Mutt have arranged this while thing since May as one big, planned publicity stunt in order to be able to sell more records? The sales of Up! were not as large as Come On Over and it's been stated that Mutt would like the #1 selling record of all time.

Do you think she's just arranging these little publicity stunts for publicity alone or for another reason?� I think it has to do with record sales.�

What's with the private jet thing? They still have to go through customs - they still have to get to the curb and the limo and the street. You meet up with the press at some point. Shania was way more outgoing and revealed a lot more about herself to the press in the early days. Mutt was the reclusive one and he kept her very isolated for many years. Just when we thought a castle in Switzerland was isolated - the unreal and ridiculously isolated New Zealand property came about. No wonder the relationship broke down after that.

See this (now sad) interview with a much younger Shania when she was a newlywed in Jan 1994! She reveals alot about her and Mutt's wedding and honeymoon. That all changed when she folded under his influence.

I love what Mutt has done for her career, but in her own words: he broke her heart and now it is time for her to heal and to move on. It is nice to see her smiling and almost joking with the press. She's so free!

Hey, just a short comment to fix things up... I would hardly call Shania's Estate here in NZ an 'unreal and ridiculously isolated New Zealand property'. I would find it very hard to believe that the relationship broke down because of that. Her Estate is only 20mins out of Wanaka, which is only 2 hours from a large city. I would say living in Switzerland is much much more isolated than New Zealand in some regards.

Shania Shops the Big Apple

Shania Twain spent last weekend shopping up a storm in Manhattan with a group of friends from Nashville, Virginia and Switzerland. People.com reports that Shania flew into JFK Airport last Thursday with her friend, Frederic Thiebaud. Thiebaud's ex-wife, Marie-Anne, is the former assistant who allegedly broke up Shania's marriage to Robert "Mutt" Lange. Thiebaud later denied that she was the reason for the couple's separation. People credits a source with telling them that Shania has been staying strong after the split and came to New York City with friends to "hang and shop" because she loves the city during the holidays. Shania's first major public appearance since the announcement of her marriage separation came at last month's 42nd annual CMA Awards, where she gave out this year Entertainer of the Year honor to Kenny Chesney.
