CMT Update!

Talk about the story of the day. This seems to have hit every major blog, yet we are the only ones talking about the loss of CMT. Everyone else is more worried about losing MTV and Nickelodeon.

We've had some readers email us asking about the CMT Awards and if CMT is going away for good. That's actually not the case at all. ONLY IF YOU ARE A TIME WARNER OR BRIGHT HOUSE NETWORKS SUBSCRIBER WILL YOU LOSE CMT. If you have any other cable provider or even DirectTV you will be fine!!!

So here are the details behind the disagreement. Viacom pays Time Warner and Bright House Networks to carry their channels (didn't know that), so starting 1/1/09 the contract between Viacom and the two cable providers needs to be renewed. Well Time Warner and Bright House Networks hasn't accepted the offers Viacom has presented.

Good news though for Time Warner subscribers (no word on Bright House Networks), they are going to offer a refund for the lost channels. Wonder what it will be though? Or if it will even be a fair refund for soooo many lost channels!

CMT May Be Gone on 1/1/09!!!!

Do any of you readers have Time Warner Cable? I don't thank god.

Well if you do, then as of now when the clock strikes midnight you will no longer receive CMT. It's all because of a dispute between Time Warner and Viacom. Viacom owns 19 major channels that Time Warner broadcasts to their subscribers. Well the two corporate giants can't agree on the terms so what's that mean?

It means you the viewer can't watch your CMT anymore! So here's my question (because I despise cable companies) will they lower your monthly payment since they are taking away 19 channels? Just sayin'
