Multi-platinum GRAMMY winning group Maroon 5 have announced they will be entering the studio this month with legendary producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange. The quintessential pop-rock producer has produced blockbuster albums for acts like AC/DC, Def Leppard, Bryan Adams, The Cars, Shania Twain and Foreigner. As a producer, his albums have sold an astounding 110 million records in the US alone and he has also received six Diamond Awards for his work- an industry first for a producer.

Capturing their first of 3 GRAMMY Awards as “Best New Artist” of 2005, and going on to sell more than fifteen million albums worldwide, Maroon 5 won over fans and critics alike with the hybrid rock/R&B sound they introduced on their debut album Songs About Jane. They followed up with the double platinum album, It Won’t be Soon Before Long, that included hits like “Makes Me Wonder” and “If I Never See your Face Again.” The band’s releases have gone gold and platinum in over 35 countries around the world.

Also known for their commitment to the environment, all of the members of Maroon 5 are active members of the NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) and recently performed at Al Gore’s Inaugural Green Ball. They were honored at the 2006 Environmental Media Awards recently pledged their time and energy toward Global Cool, a newly launched initiative to fight global warming by motivating a billion people worldwide to reduce their personal energy use.

The album is due out in 2010.

Maroon 5 to Record in Switzerland With Mutt Lange

Maroon 5 is set to pair up with rock and pop super producer Robert John 'Mutt' Lange to work on tracks for the band's upcoming album. The band, who have previously found immense success in the pop world having sold over 15 million records, is said to be excited at the chance to work with Lange.

In an interview with NME.com, Maroon 5 guitarist James Valentine talked about songs for the upcoming album, “The two stand out songs so far are called ‘How’ and ‘Don't Know Much About That’." He discussed the direction of the new record, “It's still hard to say what the vibe will be yet, so much will change once we get in the studio and past this demoing phase. There have been a batch of straight-ahead rock songs and a batch of more dance-y and classic soul-influenced tunes.”

For his part, Lange has as well versed a producing career as the band has musical influences. Rising to prominence producing such acts as AC/DC and The Cars, Lange has also worked his magic on the music of pop/country diva Shania Twain to whom he was also married.

The band will fly to Switzerland to meet with Lange and discuss their album which is due out in 2010. The record will be the third release for the band whose latest last titled, "It Won’t be Soon Before Long". No word yet on possible guests on the album, as Maroon 5 is famous for featuring collaborating with other artists such as Rihanna. The band has previously gone platinum and gold in over 35 countries.
