Shari Lynn celebrates debut CD release at The Ranch

Shari Lynn says she can’t believe she has a copy of her own debut album in her hands.

“I always wanted to make an album but I was told ‘you’re from a small town, that will never happen,’” she said. “I didn’t listen to those words, I worked really hard and I am getting somewhere with it.”

The Barrie native’s album, Can You Cut It, was released earlier this month, and is now available in stores.

To celebrate its release, Lynn returns home to Barrie this weekend for an album launch party at The Ranch.
“We’ll be performing, there’ll be some special guests too,” she said. “It’s just a great big party to celebrate.”

Lynn got her start performing as a Shania Twain tribute artist; something she admits helped open doors for her to start her own music career. Once people took notice of her voice, Lynn started writing music for her own album.

The recording process took more than two years, but she said she is pleased with the end result.
“When we started out it was a lot of country-pop music on there, stuff you can dance to at a bar,” she said. “Later on in the process we recorded some different, non-pop songs so there is a good mix.”

While Lynn admits recording an album is a lot of hard work, it was worth all the effort.
“It was definitely a learning experience,” she said. “I worked with a lot of great writers and producers and I think we made a great country record.”

The album release party will be held Saturday between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. at The Ranch.
