I went on the internet to see how much it would cost to fly to Switzerland and it is a 14 hour flight. There is a 7 hour time difference between the East Coast of the US and Switzerland so I am sure all of this is a big factor in why she doesn't come here very often. Jet lag would be killer for a while and depending on how long you stay it would be hard for your body to adjust. I don't see how she does it when she only stays for a few days or maybe that is why she only stays for a short time so she doesn't get her body so far off schedule. It would be hard. It would also be very hard on Eja.
You also have to factor into the equation if Shania attended the services and funeral the area would become a virtual zoo for the family members and friends trying to pay their respects and send her off to a better place.
Yes it is really sad when you think about the sacrifices that you have to make when you become so famous. And we as fans are all guilty to contributing to forcing them to make those sacrifices. But that is something people know before they chose to pursue careers in which they become famous so it is not like they don't know hwat they are getting into. Although I will say that in Switzerland Shania has seemingly found somewhat of an answer to some of those issues.
