Ellen DeGeneres???
'American Idol' bulletin: Ellen DeGeneres will be fourth judge
Paula who?
Ellen DeGeneres will join "American Idol" as the show's fourth judge, Fox announced tonight.
How will she get along with Simon Cowell? That's going to be something to see.
DeGeneres will replace Paula Abdul, who left the show when she and Fox couldn't agree on money.
"I'm thrilled to be the new judge on 'American Idol,' " DeGeneres said in a statement released by Fox. "I've watched since the beginning, and I've always been a huge fan. So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I'll save from not having to text in my vote."
What will the addition of the popular DeGeneres mean to the show? You tell us.
I think she will bring the show a lot of good will. She should offer the kind words that were Abdul's hallmark, and there's a bonus: DeGeneres should be more coherent. The new season starts in January.
DeGeneres will join the show after guest judges have helped in the audition process. You'll see Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Kristin Chenoweth, Joe Jonas, Neil Patrick Harris, Avril Lavigne, Katy Perry and Shania Twain.
After the auditions, DeGeneres will join the panel of Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi.
"Idol" creator and executive producer Simon Fuller said in a release that he "could not be more excited to have Ellen" join the show. "Ellen has been a fan of the show for many years, and her love of music and understanding of the American public will bring a unique human touch to our judging panel," he said. "I can't wait for this next season to begin."
