Wrong again Bobby. Everyone pays attention to all episodes of AI and they get over 25 million at least for every single show. And only the real big stars get guest judge spots. Maddona did the same thing in the U.K. for x factor which is like American idol.
This is perfect for Shania. It proves she is still a big mainstream relevant icon and that AI producers wanted her. So many huge relevant stars guest judged the past few years and Shania is another one but I think she brings even more star power and grace. Just look at all the comments at people.com about her joining as a guest judge.
I see nothing but positive with this since Shania is a huge big star who AI producers want as a guest judge even though Shania has tried to vanish and become irrelevant. It just proves her staying power and star power.
Keep up with the times Bobby and realize that you don't get a guest spot judge on the biggest show in the planet unless you have massive star power.
In fact I find more people are interested in auditons because of the real bad singers in the early part. And if Shania has an album almost read for late next year then she will also may be a guest singer on one of the final episodes.

I said this in another thread, AI is the most high profile show on TV and to be offered a place on that show proves Shania is still a huge star. She will have so many new fans and ppl interested in her, its the perfect way to make her comeback, she will get attention and confidence from how ppl react to her when they see her. Shame on those who think Shania appearing on this show is a bad thing, think of all the fans who get to see her. I love the early rounds, they are the most fun part of the show. If ppl hate the show that much then dont watch it and miss out on Shania.
The auditions are the best part of the show, because you get to see people make a fool of themselves and they're convinced they're really good, when they're tone deaf.
I dont know how any Shania fan can complain about a Shania appearance on National television, especially when she is so quiet lately. I agree that it will be fun to watch, I cant wait to see Shania's face when terrible singers show up!
Plus a lot of teens who may not remember Shania will know who she is and could help sell cd's.
Ditto. I have a daughter who listens to Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus. She hardly knows who Shania is. I think her managers may have told her to appeal to the young people. When she first came out she did something new in country music which was to create a fan base outside of Nashville. She was the young star of the moment. At 44 that will prove harder but not impossible.
Certainly being an AI judge cannot hurt. She'll be seen as the cool grown up for these kids. I think Shania doesn't want to become the middle of the road easy listening artist that only gets played on the lite rock and oldies station. Look at Phil Collins, Billy Joel, Elton John and other singers that made real good music back then and now play it too safe cause their old. Shania's smart for not taking that path since that hinders her career.
I just wanna hear some durn good music from Shania.
I have a 21 year old daughter that loves music she goes to concerts all the time.I told her my favorite singer was Shania and she said yeh i have heard of her.She didn't know any more about her.

See that's the generational gap that Shania needs to bridge as the people who were 15 when she made it big are hitting their 30s. Us older people are more likely to remember her because our tastes in music are better defined. Young people are more open and will listen to anything catchy.

Generation gap doesn't apply to Shania's music genres don't either as she is great at making sure all audiences can relate to her and her music. Warmest regards as always, Tonto

The generation gap we are talking about isn't about her music, its about the fact she hasn't had any new music. Most teenagers probably are not her fans and don't know much about her.She is going to have to win them over, doing AI is a start. This will be the first time alot of these kids meet Shania.

I'm glad you clarified. Let's face it, an absence of 7 yrs doesn't pass by in vain especially in Shania's genre of music. Some rockers go for years and years without releasing music and they pick up where they left off with ease. The fans still remember them like yesterday. Pop music is fickle and disposable. Artists go through a revolving door and typically forgotten no matter how talented they are. The ones that are still around are turning out new material every 2-3 years and getting botox and surgery to look the same way they did when they were 25. I won't say who just now, but it's not Shania. I've worked in the music industry and know what I say.

I have a 12-year-old niece and while she knows who Taylor and Miley are, she's not so familar with Shania's music apart from the Man! I Feel Like A Woman song. I don't think there's anything wrong with Shania wanting to appeal to the masses again, because it's nice that her music bridges the generations.

Yes I agree. There's no such thing as bad publicity. Can't wait to see her.
