'American Idol' hopefuls out to impress Shania Twain as she is named guest judge
Victoria Beckhamstarted the trend, swiftly followed by R&B star Mary J Blige, and now Shania Twain is the latest star lined up to guest judge on American Idol.
The Ontario-born That Don't Impress Me Much singer will fill Paula Abdul's now vacant spot and join fellow panel members Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi for the audition rounds in Chicago, People reports.
Idol hopefuls will be able to impress Shania on August 30 and 31 when the beautiful brunette will use her expertise to help judge on the show.
The dates not only mark the Canadian star's Idol debut, but they also come hot on the heels of her 44th birthday on August 28.
Meanwhile, as Shania prepares to turn her attention to rising music stars, her own fans are patiently waiting for new material from the Grammy Award-winning country star.
Despite the fact she hasn't released a new album in seven years, a spokesman for Shania's record label recently confirmed a new record from the singer is "nowhere is sight."
It has been a tough year for the mom-of-one, with the announcement in May 2008 that her 14-year marriage to Robert "Mutt" Lange was ending, but Shania has acknowledged her supporters' long wait.
"First I want to apologise for the delay in releasing new music," she wrote on her official blog in June. "Music is the basis of our relationship, after all, and I realise I'm not holding up very well on my end of the relationship!"
