THE Shania Twain of 2009 – Taylor Swift – returns with yet another great slice of country pop.

The endearing thing about Taylor's records is that they are all drawn from her own experiences. And from the lyrics you can really imagine her from this record: the geeky friend of the school hunk, who longs to be with him from afar. Surely to win his affections, she just has to say she's one of the biggest stars in music right now, having earned a whopping $18million in the past 12 months – maybe that's material for the next album.


Country music has a habit for us Brits to come across as cheesy and trite but, Taylor has real warmth to her and quite frankly comes up with great records, so we'll forgive her. Just no leopard print jump suits like Shania Twain wore please.
