We already kind of know who he is. This snake with blue eyes who is kind of like a drug but is really candy-coated misery. He's the one Carrie Underwood's singing about in her latest hit, "Cowboy Casanova." And the video is going to premiere on CMT on Oct. 2.
Since I haven't seen it or even heard much about it, I can only theorize what the video will be like. Since the song has a bit more of a dance club beat than past songs from Underwood, maybe the video will end up looking kind of edgy and sexy. Then again, with the imagery of this Casanova leaning up against the record machine, it very well could have been shot in any one of the honky-tonks around Nashville. Remember Shania Twain's "I Ain't No Quitter"? That was about a similar kind of guy ("He drinks, he smokes, he's a schemer, a dreamer/He calls me up when he's had too much"), and that video turned out very, very country. With cut-offs, cowboy hats, dancing and the whole nine yards.
And while we're at it, let's take some guesses as to who this Casanova might be. It's too late for us to cast the video, but I could see Brad Pitt, Jake Gyllenhaal, Leonardo DiCaprio or Christian Bale playing the bad guy. Guys like Taylor Lautner and Chace Crawford are much too young to be cast in a role where we're supposed to believe he's had a lifetime of breaking hearts. And nice guys like Matt Damon just don't look the part of a good-timin' devil in disguise.
When we finally get to see Underwood's "Cowboy Casanova," then we can all report back here with our feedback.
