"Why Not? With Shania Twain" on Oprah Winfrey Network (Taped 2010/Aired 2011)

According to People, Shania will be getting her own reality show on OWN (Oprah's network).

And all these years she claims to hate the spotlight and the tabs and values her privacy. hmm

Honestly, I hate reality tv shows and I really thought Shania was not the star with a reality show type.

Shania Twain Lands Her Own TV Show

By Alexis Chiu | Thursday April 08, 2010 12:00 AM EDT

First came heartbreak, then a second chance at love. Next up for country superstar Shania Twain? Her own TV series.

Twain, 44, will star on Why Not? With Shania Twain, an hour-long series premiering on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. "The show will follow [Twain] as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures," says a statement from the network.

This won't be Twain's first foray in front of the camera since her marriage to Robert "Mutt" Lange fell apart in May 2008 over his relationship with her then-friend – and employee – Marie-Anne Thiébaud.

The country singer has posted several personal videos on her Web site in recent months, chronicling her world travels, fun times with her son Eja, 8, and her blossoming romance with her boyfriend Frédéric, who is Thiébaud's ex-husband.

In February, Twain, who has recently been spotted in New York, posted a video – shot in Canada by Thiébaud – in which she visits a radio station, jokes about her junk-food cravings and the effect of the cold weather on her skin, and banters with her Swiss-born beau, whose French-inflected voice can be heard throughout.

Last August, she posted a video travelogue documenting a skydiving trip in Florida, a camel-riding adventure in Egypt and a bike ride through a London park with Thiébaud, whom in an accompanying letter she called her "most constant companion."

An air date for Why Not? With Shania Twain has yet to be announced.

Wow. Shania starring in a reality TV show? I'm not sure what to think. Will Fred be the co-star?

Oprah’s talk show may be ending, but who needs daytime television when you have your own network? According to reports by the Wall Street Journal, Oprah plans to announce sometime today her newest project – an hourlong prime time show on the Oprah Winfrey Network. Called Oprah’s Next Chapter, the show will follow Winfrey as she jet-sets around the world with celebrities, visiting places like Egypt and China.

The Oprah Winfrey Network, or OWN, is set to debut on cable television starting January 1, 2011. A joint project between Winfrey’s company and the Discovery Communications, this network already has a number of shows lined up, many of which it plans to announce during a presentation later today. The shows are said to include a reality competition show from the creator of Survivor and a show that follows the life of Shania Twain as she deals with the aftermath of her failed marriage. The network will also have a program entitled Visionaries: Inside the Creative Mind, set to feature offbeat stars like Lady Gaga and James Cameron.

So Shania's show won't air until January of next year at the earliest.

Shania Twain to star in her own TV show

Country queen Shania Twain is all set to debut on the small screen by starring in her own TV series.

The 44-year-old singer will be seen in an hour-long series premiering on 'OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network', People magazine reported.

"The show will follow [Twain] as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures," a statement from the network said.

However, this is not the first time the 'You're Still the One' hitmaker is stepping in front of the camera since she broke up from her husband Robert Lange in May 2008 over his relationship with her then-friend and employee Marie-Anne Thiebaud.

In recent times, the Grammy-award-winning singer has posted several personal videos on her Website of her travels across the globe and fun times with her 8-year-old son Eja and her blossoming romance with her boyfriend Frederic, who is Thiebaud's ex-husband.

Since this is Oprah-related, you can bet that this show won't be all about music. There will be plenty of soap-opera type elements as well. Shania's old relationship with Mutt, her new relationship with Fred, her being a single mom...all of this will probably be big parts of this show. I can also see it dealing with things such as her thoughts of being a sex symbol now that she's in her mid 40's. I bet some behind the scenes views of Shania at some new photoshoots and her thoughts on her image will be featured on this show. As well as showing the businesswoman side of Shania and her involvement with non-music related projects and charities. Those who think that this show will mainly be about new music should think again.

But it least it gives us something new to talk and complain about!

Shania Twain has landed her own TV show in the US.

The country singer, who split from her music producer husband Robert "Mutt" Lange in 2008 after 14 years of marriage, will front Why Not? With Shania Twain on Oprah Winfrey's TV channel OWN, People reports.

"The show will follow Shania as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures," a channel spokesperson said.

Shania, whose hits include That Don't Impress Me Much, and Man! I Feel Like A Woman, already has experience in front of the camera having made several video diary films for her own website.

That's for sure! One news report on this new reality show said that cameramen would be following Shania around everywhere she goes.  A few years ago, NOBODY would have ever thought Shania would participate in something like this.  She's definitely no longer the person that alot of fans thought she was.

Mutt was the reclusive one, not Shania

This just confirms what I have always believed: That Mutt was the reclusive one, not Shania. It has taken a while for Shania to crawl out of her shell of privacy, but - with help from her family, friends, and especially the always picture taking/video-ing Fred - we are seeing a more OPEN and relaxed Shania.

As for the long awaited music - this is clearly a huge marketing tool to gather viewers as Shania works her way back to the top. And I am so happy she is documenting this in a TV show! Lucky for us!

I just think it's time to stop displaying her personal life and divorce and focus solely on music. This is all just too weird.

I believe that that as well.  I think the only reason why Shania was so reclusive in the past is because she was married to Mutt.  Its not like she's partying and drinking.  Don't forget, Shania is doing a reality show on OWN: THE OPRAH WINFREY NETWORKor probably never would have agreed to do one.

Shania Twain Announces TV Series on Oprah Winfrey Network

Shania Twain
will star in her own television series on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, according to a press release from the network. Titled Why Not? With Shania Twain, the series is described in the press release as "her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures." A spokesperson at Twain's record label described the series as a "docu-series" rather than a reality show. The network will launch the one-hour episodes on Jan. 1, 2011, into 80 million homes. Twain divorced Robert "Mutt" Lange in 2008 after his affair with friend and employee Marie-Anne Thiébaud. Twain has recently been dating Frédéric Thiébaud, who is Marie-Anne's former husband.

Shania Twain Gets Reality Show On Oprah Winfrey Network

'Why Not? With Shania Twain' to air on OWN, which launches in 2011.

Twain will star in "Why Not? With Shania Twain," an hourlong series on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. The network lists the show as one of the first original programs to premiere when OWN launches in January 2011. "The show will follow [Twain] as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures," a press release said.

Twain's return to the spotlight comes after some time away following her divorce from record producer Mutt Lange in 2008. At the time, the singer released a statement on her Web site about the split, saying, "I need some time to heal this broken heart but make no mistake; I will be back and hopefully stronger than ever."

She last released an album, Up!, in 2002. And, while she has no immediate plans to release new music, she has said on her Web site that she is writing material. "I'm writing you from the Caribbean where I'm warming up after a cold stretch in Canada during the holidays," she wrote in a blog post in February. "The sunny weather gets me into writing mode.  Many of the songs from The Woman in Me and Come on Over were written in the tropics, so it's a good place for me to be creative. ... My cousin Kenny and I kicked a few songs around as we tried to remember how they went. The jamming is pretty rough, but real, and thought you would appreciate the authenticity of it, even if it is poor, home quality."

Would you check out Shania Twain's TV show? Or, would you rather she release new music? Tell us in the comments!

Oprah Snatches Up Shania Twain for Reality Series

With its big debut around the corner, the Oprah Winfrey Network is securing a stellar lineup of programming. On tap is a reality show starring Shania Twain, according to People.

The hour-long "Why Not? With Shania Twain" series will be broadcast on OWN, though a premiere date has not yet been announced. "The show will follow [Twain] as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures," the network told People.

Shania has been chronicling her life since her marriage to Robert "Mutt" Lange crumbled due to the revelation he had an alleged affair with her friend and employee Marie-Anne Thiébaud. The devastating news brought the singer and Frédéric Thiébaud, Marie-Anne's ex-husband, closer together. He has been documenting the multi-Grammy Award-winner's world travels, posting the videos on her website.

There will be Oprah appearances, previews and NEW music... eventually

This is all a way to handle the 'new normal' in the downward spiral that is known as the music industry. I don't know why Shania should even release a new album, as with all the illegal downloading, she will be lucky to sell even 3 million albums - BUT - I would LOVE to hear new music - even if it is just duets, or covers.

Shania said she was in the Carribbean to write new songs...so we know that with that statement, her blogs, and now this Oprah-fuelled show - she will be back with new music....eventually.

The Oprah network launches in Jan 2011 - but, Oprah will likely have Shania on her own regular 'Oprah' show to promote the OWN network and Shania's upcoming show.

So....no matter what - we will be seeing and hearing more of Shania.
I love the 'behind the scenes' of Shania more than anything, so this is great!biggrin

Shania's new album could be out by the end of the year since it says "A press release from OWN promises a candid look at Twain as she tries to REVIVE her music career."

Shania gets reality show on new Oprah network

TORONTO —  Shania Twain is chronicling her attempts to rebound from her marriage break-up with a reality series bound for Oprah Winfrey's new TV channel.

Winfrey says "Why Not? With Shania Twain" is one of five series that are joining the lineup at OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network.

A press release says the country superstar will open up about her "life-altering heartbreak" on the one-hour show and discuss how she's moving on.

Twain's 14-year marriage to music producer Mutt Lange dissolved two years ago amid infidelity rumours.

Since then Twain has kept a low profile, limiting public appearances to a brief stop at the Country Music Association awards, as a guest judge on "American Idol, and postings on her web site.

Winfrey's channel debuts Jan. 1, 2011.

A press release from OWN promises a candid look at Twain as she tries to revive her music career.

"Follow her as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures," says the release, released Thursday.

Other series bound for the network include a night-time show featuring Winfrey called "Oprah's Next Chapter," as well as "Visionaries: Inside the Creative Mind," "Your OWN Show: Oprah's Search for the Next TV Star," and "Gayle King Live!"

"My vision for OWN is to create a network that inspires our viewers and makes them want to be who they are on their best day," Winfrey said Thursday in a release.

I find it interesting that Shania has chosen to go down this route to broaden her appeal and get back into the limelight, but it could be a a good marketing ploy for when the album does come out. I think this experience will be a lot of fun for her and her fans.

Shania's getting her own TV show on the Oprah network

Shania Twain, the 44-year-old singing sensation from Timmins is about to get back into the spotlight, this time on a regular television show. It was revealed today on Twain's website, shaniatwain.com with the following text:

"First came heartbreak, then a second chance at love. Next up for country superstar Shania Twain? Her own TV series.

"Twain, 44, will star on Why Not? With Shania Twain, an hour-long series premiering on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. "The show will follow [Twain] as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures," says a statement from the network.

"This won't be Twain's first foray in front of the camera since her marriage to Robert "Mutt" Lange fell apart in May 2008 over his relationship with her then-friend – and employee – Marie-Anne Thiébaud.

"The country singer has posted several personal videos on her Web site in recent months, chronicling her world travels, fun times with her son Eja, 8, and her blossoming romance with her boyfriend Frédéric, who is Thiébaud's ex-husband.

"Last August, she posted a video travelogue documenting a skydiving trip in Florida, a camel-riding adventure in Egypt and a bike ride through a London park with Thiébaud, whom in an accompanying letter she called her "most constant companion."

I'm actually quite shocked that some people are complaining about this. For years, people have whined that Shania isn't very open with her fans, and now that she's trying to change that, she's STILL getting people complaining. Okay, maybe she was very private during her Mutt years, but those days are gone and maybe now she feels that she can FINALLY be who she wants to be and connect more with her fans. Not to mention that this is gonna put her back into people's minds who've forgotten about her over the years, not to mention kids who will probably discover her for the first time with this show. Shania isn't a Lindsay Lohan party animal or Amy Whinehouse coke addict, so I think this show will be great, and best news is, it's gearing up to a new album, which I'm thrilled about. Come on guys, it's a good thing!!

Shania starring in a reality show can't be a bad thing. Everybody's doing it. Since Oprah has large audience base this is a good way for her to get exposure and reintroduce herself to music listeners. Since Oprah's known for classy TV, the launch of her OWN network could be a way to bring reality shows to a more mature crowd. Not everybody wants to watch people partying, getting drunk and vomiting on TV. You don't have to subscribe to cable TV for that; just go to your local bar and you'll see that and then some.

People will always bitch and moan about what she does and its pointless. It looks like she will finally open up after her divorce and explain the unanswered questions that fans may have like why she hasn't released an album in almost 8 years and so on.

I don't know that the show would be interesting in the long term. I'd watch it once just to hear her side of things and find out if there's new music. But I don't think she is soap opera material unless she lets Oprah make her cry. She does have a fun loving personality and has humor, but her normalness can be boring after awhile. When I watch TV I like to see some craziness whether it's a staged or not. This is a promotional vehicle for both women as Oprah's transitioning out of daytime TV and has recruited renowned celebrities to bring ratings to her show and Shania's looking to get her name out there once again.

I think I read somewhere in the message board that there was a rumor that Shania wasn't going to schedule tour dates till the end of 2011 or 2012. I didn't believe it as the rumor seemed to come out of nowhere, but now with news of Shania being on Oprah's show in early 2011, this rumor is starting to look true.

As for the long awaited music - this is clearly a huge marketing tool to gather viewers as Shania works her way back to the top.

It is a huge marketing tool, and it dispels the myth that some fans have of Shania just being an artist who isn't concerned with album sales.  Bull.  Shania is obviously very concerned about success in the business, and she'll apparently do anything to get it, and to reclaim her spotlight.  Which isn't a bad thing, but fans shouldn't fool themselves into thinking that Shania is above such things.

RE: Shania Lands Her Own TV Show - Video of Oprah introducing Shania

Shania Twain Shares Emergence From 'Dark Slump'

Shania Twain is making her way back into the spotlight. The singer has been on a career hiatus these past few years, choosing to focus on her family. But in the wake of her recent divorce from producer Mutt Lange (after reports of his alleged affair with the couple's close friend Marie-Anne Thiebaud), Shania has now found inspiration to write and sing again. The singer is now ready to return to her eager fans, and she's using her new reality show as the first step.

"I feel like in a way I'm starting over, with everything," she tells Oprah Winfrey (quote via PEOPLE magazine). "This is a very personal experience that I think is important to share. This is an experience of recovery. I was in a very deep, dark slump, and I needed to find a way to get myself out of it. I had to force myself back out into life, back out into experiencing things."

Happily dating Frederic Thiebaud -- who was married to Marie-Anne when the rumored affair occurred, Shania admits there was a time when she wondered if she would ever be in a relationship again. "There were moments when I really just thought, 'I don't need anything and I don't need anyone,'" she reveals. "'I just want to go away and disappear. So, that was a bad slump."

Now writing songs for a new album, in addition to filming the reality show, the multiple Grammy-winning singer says going through heartbreak and betrayal changed her forever. "There's a lot of recovery to accomplish," she admits. "I'm not there yet. I'm on my way there. I'm not sure I'll ever be there."

While every day can still be a struggle, including learning to be a single mom to eight-year old son Eja, Shania reveals the one question she was asked that gave her the motivation to move forward with her life. "One day, someone said to me, 'Do you want to jump out of an airplane?' I felt like I had nothing to lose anymore, so I said, 'Why not?' And ever since then, I ask myself that question."

The singer's new show, titled 'Why Not? With Shania Twain,' will premiere in January 2011 on Oprah's new cable network, OWN.

Shania Twain Goes From ‘Deep, Dark Place’ To ‘Inspired Again’ After Her Husband Left Her For Her Best Friend!

Country music superstar Shania Twain, 44, is going to share her “life-altering heartbreak” with the world, in her new reality show Why Not? which will launch in January, 2011 on Oprah Winfrey’s new TV network, OWN.

When Shania’s husband of 14 years, Robert Lang, left her for  her best friend and personal assistant Marie-Anne Thiebud in May 2008, Shania admits she “was in a deep dark place.”

The “Your Still The One” singer told Oprah during an interview at the OWN upfront event at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York on Apr. 9, “I’m getting inspired again. I’m still not all the way there yet.”

Shania, who looked radiant and full of life, confessed to Oprah, “I feel like in a way I’m starting over, with everything. This is a very personal experience that I think is important to share. This is an experience of recovery. I was in a very deep, dark slump, and I needed to find a way to get myself out of it. I had to force myself back out into life, back out into experiencing things.”

Shania’s show will be called Why Not? “because people would ask me to do things, and if I couldn’t come up with three good reasons as to Why Not,” she says, “then I would go for it.”

While Shania continues the process of moving on, viewers can “Follow her as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures,” according to a press release from NOW.  What do you think? Will you watch Shania’s new show? —Corynne Steindler

Shania Twain: I'm Emerging from a 'Very Deep, Dark Slump'

Friday April 09, 2010 08:00 AM EDT

Country-music star Shania Twain says doing a reality show on Oprah Winfrey's new cable network is another step toward embracing life as she continues to recover from heartache.

"I feel like in a way I'm starting over, with everything," Twain, 44, told Winfrey in an interview at an event in New York on Thursday. "This is a very personal experience that I think is important to share. This is an experience of recovery. I was in a very deep, dark slump, and I needed to find a way to get myself out of it. I had to force myself back out into life, back out into experiencing things."

Twain's marriage of 14 years to Robert "Mutt" Lange collapsed in May 2008 due to Lange's relationship with Twain's longtime friend and assistant, Marie-Anne Thiébaud. In the months that followed, Twain said, there were times when she had no passion or interest in anything.

"There were moments when I really just thought, I don't need anything and I don't need anyone," she said. "I just want to go away and disappear. So, that was a bad slump."

Twain's upcoming show, Why Not? With Shania Twain, follows her life as she emerges from that slump. Its very title is a reference to the first step she took in her recovery.

"One day, someone said to me, 'Do you want to go jump out of an airplane?' " she said. "I felt like I had nothing to lose anymore, so I said, 'Why not?' And every day since then, I ask myself that question."

Twain, who has a son Eja, 8, and is now dating Thiébaud's ex-husband Frédéric, emphasized that she is still in the process of healing. "There's a lot of recovery to accomplish," she said. "I'm not there yet. I'm on my way there. I'm not sure I'll ever be there."

Winfrey interviewed Twain during a so-called "upfront" presentation in New York introducing OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network to advertisers.

Judging American Idol wannabes was just the first step in Shania Twain’s return to the spotlight—the country music star will appear in her own TV series on Oprah’s new network OWN. The reality show will be called Why Not? With Shania Twain. Oh, how we’d love to answer that rhetorical question.

According to a statement from the network, Shania’s show “will follow [Twain] as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures.”

Shania definitely has a dramatic back story that fits the reality show bill pretty well—after quickly becoming one of the most successful country music artists and female recording artists of all time, she took time off to raise her son, and hasn’t released an album with new music since 2002. And in 2008 she had her world shell-shocked by the revelation that her producer husband Robert “Mutt” Lange had been having an affair with his secretary (cliche, but still pretty reprehensible).

Twain is now moving on with her life since her divorce, finding love with her new boyfriend Frédéric Thiébaud (which, in a surreal Wife Swap twist, is the ex-husband of the woman with which Lange cheated on Twain) and readying her next musical output.

“I feel like in a way I’m starting over, with everything,” Shania told Oprah in a recent interview. “This is a very personal experience that I think is important to share. This is an experience of recovery.”

What it feels like to us is Denise Richards: It’s Complicated, but we hope we’re wrong, and Shania’s reality show has us this giddy with delight:

Thanks for the photos Tommy. Excellent! I can't wait for Shania's show. Mutt is such a recluse - I'm not saying she's doing this to tick him off - but he is going to hate this. Not that any photos/footage of him will appear. Oh well Mutt - you made your dirty, cheating bed - you can go lie in it.

Where do people come up with this stuff? This article says Shania has launched a new fragrance collection.

Shania Twain Starts Her Own Reality Show

We can also see Twain attempting to bring back the momentum in her singer career, in front of the cameras. It will be broadcast on Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).

She has launched a new fragrance collection, too. The "That Don't Impress Me Much' singer has also conducted interviews for a Canadian Radio Station.

Twain is also set to launch the new music album, after the last 'Up!', which was released in 2002.

"The show will follow Twain, as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures," says the Oprah TV company's statement.

Oprah Winfrey is joined by Shania Twain for the announcement of new original programming on the OWN network. Twain is getting a reality series.

NEW YORK — Oprah Winfrey unveiled more new series for her upcoming cable network — including one featuring herself — in a presentation to advertisers here Thursday.

The Oprah Winfrey Network, a joint venture with Discovery Communications due to launch on Jan. 1, won't include her talk show, which ends in syndication in September 2011.

"This is a dream I've been carrying for years," Winfrey says of the new project.

"My life's work has been to create television that changes the way people see themselves. What I want to do with OWN is take what I've established in daytime — inspiring people, giving them hope, and a few cars — and build on that 24/7."

"My sleeves are rolled up all the way they can be," she says, promising a hands-on role at the network. And she has decided to "do something crazy" by starring in her own reality show, a behind-the-scenes look at producing the final season of her top-rated talk show. Promotional footage shown to advertisers included Winfrey arriving at her studio, in the makeup chair, huddling with producers — and in the bathtub at home.

Winfrey also will appear in Oprah's Next Chapter, an on-location interview series in which she'll travel to places "from the Taj Mahal to her beloved oak tree," the network says. OWN says the series, scheduled for late 2011, will air as often as three times a week.

Also newly announced: Visionaries: Inside the Creative Mind, featuring profiles of James Cameron, Lady Gaga and other creative talents; Your Own Show: Oprah's Search for the Next TV Star, a competition series from producer Mark Burnett (Survivor); a daily version of pal Gayle King's radio show; and a reality series starring country singer Shania Twain.

The five series join 10 others already planned for the network.

Shania Twain's love quadrangle

Shania Twain wanted to "go away and disappear" following her marriage split.

The country singer - whose 14-year union with Robert 'Mutt' Lange ended in May 2008 when he embarked on a relationship with Shania's friend Marie-Anne Thiebaud - is delighted to be the focus of a new reality TV show, Why Not? With Shania Twain, as it is helping her "recover" from her personal problems.

She said: "I feel like in a way I'm starting over, with everything. This is a very personal experience that I think is important to share. This is an experience of recovery. I was in a very deep, dark slump, and I needed to find a way to get myself out of it. I had to force myself back out into life, back out into experiencing things.

"There were moments when I really just thought, `I don't need anything and I don't need anyone. I just want to go away and disappear.' So, that was a bad slump."

Explaining the title of her TV show, the 44-year-old star - who is now dating Marie-Anne's ex-husband Frederic - says it is a reference to her recovery.

She explained at a presentation for OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, which will broadcast the series: "One day, someone said to me, 'Do you want to go jump out of an airplane?' I felt like I had nothing to lose anymore, so I said, 'Why not?' And every day since then, I ask myself that question."

Shania - who has an eight-year-old son Eja with Mutt - is still recovering from her relationship woes and admits she is unsure if she will ever fully be able to put the separation behind her.

She said: "There's a lot of recovery to accomplish. I'm not there yet. I'm on my way there. I'm not sure I'll ever be there."

I was looking at Shania's pictures for her reality show launch and I notice that Frederic is in the background of the pictures that were taken of her.  He even had his head hanging down while standing in the background which is a sign of submission.  I don't know what the nature of their relationship is but looking at their body language at this premier, he appears to be Shania's lapdog, merely content with holding doors for her while his beautiful and majestic superstar life partner is the center of the universe.  I know it's the premier for her own show but as a man I'd have a picture of us taken even if my girl later goes off to do her thing.  He's not reclusive like Mutt Lange.  I've seen pictures of Mariah Carey and her young husband at premieres and they are together for a few shots, even if Mariah hogs the cameras later.  Actions speak louder than words and this lets the world know that you have a partner that is more than a bodyguard or assistant that hangs out in the background. This is demeaning in my opinion. It appears that Shania and Fred are very much a couple on the home turf where they make movies and the like, but when in public, she is the *star*.  I don't know how long a man can put up with this hmm. This is like having a friend that only acts like a friend in private, but in public they blow you off because you aren't good enough for them.

But in her pictures with Oprah, Shania is showing a more submissive posture judging by the way that she has her neck ****ed like a girl.   I don't know why the forum bleeped one of the words I used.  It's not a curse word and I'm not saying anything obscene or sexually explicit.  Whatever.  Oprah's gripping her hand and in one picture, Oprah's tightly grabbing Shania's wrist. I may not be a psychologist, but I've lived long enough to know that when I see these gestures I know who's the master and who is the servant.  In my opinion, Shania caved into Oprah's demands in order to reclaim the spotlight. I wouldn't know what Oprah may have demanded from Shania, but whatever it is she gave it to her.

What I can say is that Shania spilling the beans on her personal affairs is to Oprah's benefit as she gives everything a feel good twist and amplifies everything that comes into her reach.  Shania benefits too and she is treating her comeback from semi retirement much like a Presidential campaign.  Shania always treated her fame this way and if you read the liner notes on the Woman In Me, you'll know what I'm speaking about.  This time, though, many of her fans will be older, wiser and more hip to the way the modern media operates thanks to reality shows and non stop media news coverage.  If she's not careful she could come across like a calculating phony who's using her troubles to sell records and recruit new and old fans alike.  If this is the public's reaction then she better have a damn good album and exciting tour in the works for people to overlook and forget about this.

By Shania exposing herself and her life so intimately she is bringing in all kinds of comments about herself and the choices that she makes. She could come to regret inviting the press into her personal life in the future. If her intention is to be the open person that she really is and use her experiences with Mutt to get back at him publicly, ok.  But beware that the knife cuts both ways.  The press had been pretty kind to Shania all this time because she was hermetic about the information that she released about herself.  Another thing is that may occur is that whatever old rumors or any other unfavorable information that she squelched may come out again.  This time the press isn't just going to back off or get cast as tabloid b.s.

I think your drawing a lot of conclusions about their relationship from just one photo.A photo is a second in time, maybe he was looking down to see if his fly was open.I do agree with you on Shania is the boss in that relationship. As far as Oprah goes,i don't think she could force Shaina to do anything.I believe that Shaina could shop a reality show to a bunch of networks.Oprah has big bucks invested in this and Shania may draw big ratings if her show is any good. The E channel ran a marathon of the reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians few months ago and they had the most viewers in the history of the channel that day.I think Keeping Up with the Kardashians sucks but a lot of people watch. As far as exposing her personal life,i don't think its like those MTV shows.Where they put a bunch of kids in a house filled with booze and wait for them to make idiots of themselves.Shania will have a lot of control over what we see.Ozzy Osborn Gene Simmons had shows and we saw what they wanted us to see.I bet in the contract they have editorial control over the show, its the famous name the producers want.Besides these shows are fake reality, who wouldn't act differently with a film crew following a person around?
