Will Kate take Will to be her royal hubby?

Hang on to your tiara.

Is today the day William pops the question? Will the lovely Kate say, “Yes, my prince, oh, yes, YES!”

The queen is reported to have cleared her calendar for the next two days — and palace groupies predict it’s so she can celebrate her eldest grandson’s big news.

I hope so. Go, Wills. I’m sick of oil spills and the G20 and Gary Bettman and Rahim Jaffer and terrorists and blown baseball calls and the woes of Al and Tipper Gore.

The Royal Family has but one purpose in the 21st century: To add ermine and gold to our aluminum lives. To cheer us up.

And nothing works like a royal wedding.

Unless you have been dead or a republican, you know Prince William, heir to the throne, has been canoodling with Kate Middleton, 28, for seven years.

Kate’s parents are peasants, though high-flying ones — a pilot and a flight attendant.

That’s the new monarchy for you. Marry whom you want. Now a frog can be just a frog.

In two weeks, Swedish Crown Princess Victoria, 32, is to wed Daniel Westling, 36, her personal trainer.

Very clever of the royals. Good PR. For the first time in centuries, we serfs have a shot at sleeping in the palace.

Clues are piling up that the patient Ms Middleton — Waity Katy, as the British press calls her — will (officially) bed her prince.

To wit, Kate’s mom let slip that June will be a “very busy time” for the family.

Wills has always said he’ll marry after he hits 28 — which he does on June 21.

The supermarket chain Asda is so sure, it has unveiled commemorative plates and mugs.

The current edition of Star, a supermarket magazine, has “exclusive, jaw-dropping” details of the impending nuptials, even a photo of Kate trying on a wedding dress.

Estimated wedding cost: $40 million, to be split by the family and British taxpayers. Kate will arrive in a glass coach pulled by four horses, at St. Paul’s Cathedral. That’s where Wills’ mom, the sainted Diana, married ol’ whatzisname.

Guests will include Michelle Obama, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Nicole Richie and our own Shania Twain, Star says.

No doubt, we’ll send a gift. A year’s supply of beavertails and a Leafs jersey, perhaps.

The reception at Buckingham Palace will feature Scottish salmon, lamb from Windsor Castle and five crates of Krug champagne. Kate’s baker brother will supply the cake.

(Dear Editor: Can I go, please? Our Princess Michele Mandel usually gets to cover royalty, but she’s hobnobbing with thieves and murderers these days.)

William and Kate will be known, for now, as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Assuming, of course, that this isn’t just a fairy tale.

Either way, we can ask the queen, who visits Toronto and Kitchener July 3-6.

She could use some good news, too. The Windsors have taken a royal whupping lately.

Fergie, Duchess of York, was caught offering to sell access to her ex, Prince Andrew, for half a million pounds.

An Angus Reid poll shows most Canadians would dump the monarchy, or don’t care.

Only 36% would keep the queen.

But the same poll shows 70% of us like Wills, compared with 40% for his dad, Prince Charles.

Just 31% for Kate, but I bet that soars when we get to know her better.

She first caught Wills’ eye in a see-through dress and black underwear at a charity fashion show in 2002.

“Wow,” said Wills. He kissed her at the after-party.

“They’ll do great together,” says my personal seer, Anthony “The World’s Most Documented Psychic” Carr.

“They’re fire and air,” he says, mysteriously.

Well, we could use a breath of fresh air and fire.

And when they take the throne, Tony?

“Actually, I see Andrew as the new king.”

Oh-oh. Fergie’s fee just went up.
