Sooner or later, it's gonna happen. Shania and Vegas were meant for each other.

If this is true it would be very disappointing to see Shania in Vegas after all this hype from the divorce, wedding, web blogs, upcoming Oprah show and book. You don't go to Vegas to promote new material. I've been in Vegas and all the acts there perform the standards. Matter of fact, the performers tend to be second or third rate. The only worthwhile performers are nearing retirement age and were famous a really long time ago. Celine Dion is the only young performer who chose Vegas because she wanted to remain stationary for her family and work. Regardless of what Shania ever said about Vegas being for old people, I don't think this will be a good thing for her. It will only show her lack of imagination at staging a return to the stage and prove the naysayers right about Mutt being the reason why she became big to begin with. Only a small town bumpkin would settle for a Vegas show and a made for Lifetime reality show. I can see where this is going and I don't like it.

I did see her clip of Why Not and I am starting to paint a story here. I respect David Foster's talents as a producer, but he is known for powerful, but generic and very mainstream pop ballads. Besides, the AC genre has been dead for over a decade. I believe that after a such a painful divorce she would want something more intimate, confessional and gritty.

IMHO, I think Shania should have come out with a killer country/pop album that reminded people why she became big to begin with and prove that Mutt did not 'make' her. I believe that she is showing her true colors and that is why some say they don't know her. As controlling as Mutt may have been he knew what he was doing. Judging by her actions as of recent, the way she used to behave in public may have been influenced a lot by Mutt like the reclusiveness and judicious ways at managing her career. What Shania seems to be demonstrating is her biggest talents lie in her singing and showmanship. Outside of that she doesn't seem to have Madonna's business acumen. Love her or hate her, Madonna knows how to stay on top of her business.

I think that Shania would probably only be doing shows in Vegas just to help her regain her confidence as a performer again.  Shania loves the travel and once her confidence comes back, she will touring the world once again.

Garth Brooks has been doing shows in Vegas and its not hurting him at all.

Shania can make a bundle in Vegas for a short period of time. She can do her tunes as well as other songs that are not hers that she really likes. Plus like Celine they have videos for sale of her Vegas performances so all can benefit if they can't get there. All though I can't see Shania dressing up like Michael Jackson like Celine did. With the music business like it is, Vegas maybe easier with a family than touring everywhere and probably safer as well.I look forward to her return in whatever manner she decides. I wish her happiness in her new life.

Her rep already shot down these rumours, so I don't know why they keep resurfacing. Shania is intent on reclaiming her place in the music world, but I don't think Vegas would be right for her at this point.

Hello!
Dear friend!
I think you have to wait, the answer to our questions is Shania and only time will give us the result of them.
I think more can Eilleen and Mutt was a great help to his career, but she is talented and that made it great.
I think it is in full recovery, both personal and professional.
I feel it is the same, because his life has changed, I might be tired, you may have lost confidence and voice, but is not an end. She is strong and talented and can give more, much more. We must have patience and we can see if Shania is the greatest artist in history.
A big kiss for everyone!
Hugs!!!!!!!!!

Looks like all this Shania in Vegas "talk" is true.

Celine Dion’s show: Hollywood vs. her hits; plus, is Shania Twain waiting in the wings?

By Robin Leach (contact)
Tuesday, March 15, 2011 | 2:42 p.m.

Celine Dion’s new show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, which has its gala premiere tonight, was originally planned as a total salute to Hollywood movie theme songs, but last summer, Celine and her team of show designer Yves Aucoin, sound engineer Denis Savage and conductor Claude Lemay all agreed that the plan wasn’t working, so the focus shifted to her performing her hits. As Yves said: “The singer sings real words, and the musicians play real instruments and continuously."

Yes, there is a tip of the hat to the great James Bond songs and Michael Jackson’s talents, but now it’s far more of Celine’s hits that have sold more than 200 million albums worldwide and won her numerous awards, including bestselling female artist of all time.

“This is now the songs the fans want and the show they expect,” John Meglen, president of AEG, the producers of Celine’s show, told me after Saturday’s final dress rehearsal. “The first show we presented was a collaborative -- part Franco Dragone -- but this is all Celine, 100 percent. She has transcended the level of superstar and moved on to become legendary.”

“The show is elegant, sophisticated, classy and glamorous, yet also fun. Everybody is having a great time up there on the stage. For Celine, it’s her time to party after a day of playing Mom. The spotlight is on her and her music the entire time. She takes over this humongous stage and makes it feel as if she’s in your living room. This show is solely about her and her incredible vocal talent and music genius. Celine is the best she’s ever been. That voice reaches all the great and good emotions. There is no other like it, and when you cry, it’s a feel good experience.

“Nobody in this team is a prima donna. Everybody listens to each other, so it’s the best that can be brought to her fans. Celine has also brought incredible stamina and discipline to the production. She has a work ethic about her vocal chords, her family and raising children all at the same time, which I haven’t seen with any other artist. She had huge input into this show. It’s what she wanted, and now you understand why she and Rene (Angelil) are thrilled the way it has all turned out.”

Director Ken Ehrlich added: “In A New Day, she didn’t have the opportunity to prove just what she’s capable of in terms of greatness. It’s always been there, and now you’re seeing that amazing vocal instrument of hers in its beautiful, natural, pure state. We all want what she wants in that everyone will leave the theater each night saying it’s the best show they’ve ever seen or will ever see.”

I pushed John on the subject of Celine performing longer than the current three-year deal. He admitted that there have already been discussions. “If everything goes well for Celine and Rene and we’re just as happy, we have an understanding to continue. It could well go to the five years, and we may hear about that right after the opening night,” he laughed.

He also confirmed our exclusive story posted several months ago that another Canadian superstar, Shania Twain, was considering the details of a concert run at Caesars, headlining when Celine is on a break. “Those talks are ongoing,” John said.

Celine has admitted that she wanted to give up singing after the birth of her first child, Rene-Charles, 10 years ago. Today, she says she can be both mother and performer. She told USA Today’s Marco Della Cava: “Performing as a mom is what I enjoy most. Music is a part of me, but now I don’t have to choose between the two. I do what I love. I don’t need to perform, but I love to do it. I know I’m not going to be able to sing like this forever, but as long as I can, I will -- like wine that’s gotten better with age. I’m sure my fans will let me know when they’ve had enough!”

Celine sounds heavenly and looks just as stunning onstage, whether simply standing still or slinking across it in designer, thigh-high-slit gowns. There will be standing ovations and curtain calls at tonight’s premiere. After the show, she’ll tend to her two twin baby boys Eddy and Nelson, change and then return within 90 minutes to hold a news conference with media from all over the world. VegasDeLuxe.com will have a report tomorrow.

More than 2,200 of the guests for Celine’s final dress rehearsal Saturday were doctors, caregivers, volunteers and donors of Keep Memory Alive that funds the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. Celine graciously thanked all of them for their contributions and work in their research, prevention and early detection fight against Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s and ALS Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Among the VIPs on Saturday: New Wynn/Encore President Marilyn Winn, The Venetian President Rob Goldstein and MGM Hospitality President Gamil Aziz.

KMA founder Larry Ruvo hosted a small dinner party before the show in nearby Spago, where he announced that Larry King would be filming the work of the brain clinic for a new CNN global TV special. “It was here 15 years ago, we had a handful of people commit to a dream that has now come true. It’s so gracious of Celine to support our goals by dedicating her show to Keep Memory Alive. We really do welcome her back to Las Vegas.”

Odds Are Good Shania Twain Is Headed to Las Vegas

The odds are looking good for a Shania Twain residency at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. John Meglen, president of concert production company AEG, confirms to the Las Vegas Sun that talks are ongoing for a possible Shania show at the Colosseum at Caesar's.

Celine Dion's just returned to that venue for a three-year-run with her new show, Celine. You can check out photos from her opening night here.

Las Vegas show prices at all-time high

By Las Vegas Advisor

Last year, it dropped; this year, it jumped back: It’s the average price of a show ticket in Las Vegas, as determined in an annual survey conducted by the Las Vegas Advisor.

Last year’s drop of $2.50 per ticket marked the first time in eight surveys that the average declined. However, a $2.78-per-ticket increase this year got that back and more to yield the highest average in the 20-year history of the study, $76.46.

Out of the 95 shows tallied, the most expensive ticket was $295.13 for the top (VIP) ticket to Donny & Marie at the Flamingo. The highest average price was Barry Manilow’s $190.96, followed by Donny & Marie’s $171.11 and Celine Dion’s $164.65.

This year’s least expensive ticket was $17.45 for the Afternoon Comedy Magic Show at the Four Queens. There are now 28 shows in Las Vegas with at least one ticket option above $100 (compared with 23 last year).

Pool season: Every year the Las Vegas pool season starts earlier. Among the major complexes already open and operating are Wet Republic at MGM Grand, Moorea at Mandalay Bay, Bare at Mirage, Encore Beach Club at Encore, Liquid at Aria, Voodoo at the Rio and Palms Pool at the Palms. Soon to open are Garden of the Gods at Caesars Palace, Tao at Venetian, Azure at Palazzo, Daydream at M Resort, Naked at the Artisan and the notorious Sunday Rehab parties at the Hard Rock. New this year are Gossip at Rumor, Marquee at Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and Nikki Beach at the Tropicana.

Most of these function similarly to nightclubs, in that there are admission fees and lofty prices on drinks. Of course, access to the pools this time of year is highly dependent on the weather, which is beginning to turn the corner toward the typical scorching summer levels.

Show closing: Add another long-running entertainment staple to the Strip casualty list. American Superstars closed at the Stratosphere at the end of March.

Shania to Caesars? Country-music chanteuse Shania Twain appears to be heading to Caesars Palace. Though a gig hasn’t been confirmed, Twain is in talks to headline at the Colosseum when Celine Dion is on break.

Chef changes venues: Carla Pellegrino, formerly the chef at Caesars Palace’s Rao’s, is taking her meatballs (recipes) to the Tropicana. Her new restaurant there will be called Bacio by Carla Pellegrino.

Fontana Down: The great Fontana Bar at Bellagio will be replaced by a new nightclub from SBEEntertainment (owners of the Sahara). Construction on the 12,000-square-foot Hyde Lounge begins in May, which will put an end to what may have been the best live-music venue in town. The new club is set to debut on New Year’s Eve.

Knightat Trop: Tickets start at $65 for the new Gladys Knight headliner show at the Tropicana in the newly named Gladys Knight Theater.

Border Brunch: The Border Grill at Mandalay Bay has introduced a brunch featuring several of its celebrated dishes — Yucatan eggs Benedict, guava empanada, machaca chilaquiles, etc. — served buffet style, along with unlimited mimosas, for $24.99. It runs Saturdays and Sundays through October, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Question: Is there an announced closing date for the Sahara?

Answer: The last day of business for the Sahara will be May 16. After that, only the Riviera and the Tropicana will be left from the many casinos that opened in Las Vegas’ first boom era, the ’50s.

Confirmed! Elton John returning to Caesars with Million Dollar Piano

Posted April 18, 2011 • 1:21 p.m.

It wasn’t a surprise to our Twitter followers when the official announcement was made today that Sir Elton John is returning home for a new three-year run at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. His new The Million Dollar Piano starts Sept. 28, with the first 16 performances through Oct. 23. Tickets go on sale next Monday, April 25. Future dates will be announced later.

I tweeted Friday the first whispers that Elton was returning to The Colosseum to share the spotlight with Celine Dion. In a statement, Elton said: “Caesars Palace is just a perfect, idyllic place to play, and the show will be a gargantuan feast of music and imagery. … I’m going to have a fabulous piano that Yamaha has been working on for four years, and that’s the reason why the show is called The Million Dollar Piano.

(It's) not like the old days -- different from anything you've seen before. I will really raise the bar. It's a fabulous piano. It will surprise a lot of people. ... I want people to leave with real emotional feelings, that they have been close to me, had fun, definitely laughed, maybe cried -- an intimate evening with me that they've never had or seen before. It will give me a way to get much closer to my fans."

He said some audience members will be permitted to leave their seats and join him onstage to sing and dance with him while he is at the megabucks piano. "I love that. I love that connection. I've never enjoyed playing live more than I have now."

“We couldn’t be more excited to once again welcome one of the world’s most beloved entertainers, Elton John, to The Colosseum,” said Gary Selesner, Caesars Palace president. “During his last residency, Elton and his talented band brought so many memorable performances to Caesars Palace. We are looking forward to more incredible moments with Elton onstage at The Colosseum and continuing our successful partnership.”

The British-born global superstar completed a highly successful five-year residency at Caesars Palace in April 2009 with the critically acclaimed The Red Piano. Originally booked for 75 shows in a three-year run, audience demand was so overwhelming that the engagement was extended to 241 shows in five years.

Elton will be accompanied by his band, which includes Davey Johnstone on guitar, Bob Birch on bass, John Mahon on percussion, Nigel Olsson on drums and Kim Bullard on keyboards, with a special appearance by percussionist Ray Cooper. Elton performed at Andre Agassi's Grand Slam benefit at the Wynn and Justin Timberlake & Friends at Planet Hollywood last year.

I also tweeted Friday the ever-increasing rumors that Celine’s fellow Canadian superstar singer Shania Twain is close to signing a contract for a run at The Colosseum. In fact, several members of Shania’s fan club believe she’s already posed atop Caesars for a publicity photo to be released with the official announcement. It certainly is a skyline shot of Las Vegas with the songbird seated cross-legged on a floor of a roof overlooking the Strip!

We will follow that news, along with additional information that will be coming on Elton’s new show and further dates.

First Celine Dion, then Elton John — now Rod Stewart returns to Caesars

Now that the dates for Celine Dion’s new five-year run of shows have been set, many of the openings have been filled by Sir Elton John’s new three-year contract first revealed here last Friday and confirmed yesterday.

Now VegasDeLuxe.com can exclusively confirm the invasion of overseas stars will continue and that pop rock king Rod Stewart is returning to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, too. Expect the announcement of raspy-voiced Rod’s new deal to come in the next few days, but I am assured that the contract and his Las Vegas dates have been set and signed.

“Look what Celine started,” one of my reliable spies told me early today. “First she returned. Then as a result of her incredible, sold-out success since March, Elton signed on. Now it’s Rod to complete the triumvirate.”

Back in September when his Caesars stand was first announced, Rod said: “For some years now, AEG Live has wanted me to do a residency show in Vegas. I decided it was time to give it a try, but I thought first, ‘Let’s try two weeks instead of two years right off, though. Who knows what this could lead to?’ ”

AEG and Caesars executives were thrilled and told me last Nov. 6: “This is an absolutely fabulous Vegas show. Rod can have the theater as many times as he wants until March when Celine returns -- and whenever she’s away. His first two nights are total sell-outs, and now that the word is out and people see what he can do, it’s going to be a rocket ride. He’s one of a very small handful of superstars like Elton John and Cher who can pack The Colosseum for a residency. He’s already proving it.”

Rod’s manager Arnold Stiefel told me: “It’s now all up to Rod. If he’s happy with the run here, we’ll extend it. Solely his decision, but Vegas is for Rod, and Rod is for Vegas. It’s a perfect show-business match. … It would be good for him and for Vegas. I’d love to see him do it. If he’s happy, he will -- but it’s solely his call.”

Rod is one of the bestselling entertainers of all time, with a five-decade career and sales of more than 100 million records worldwide. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, and in 2008, Billboard ranked him as the 17th most successful artist on the Hot 100 Top All-Time Artists.

The superstar who was awarded the title of Commander of the British Empire divides his time when not touring between his homes in L.A. and outside London. This weekend, Janet Jackson performs for three nights while Celine is on an Easter holiday at her Jupiter Island estate in Florida. Next weekend, Ricky Martin holds down the stage in Celine’s absence.

The new Caesars /AEG contract is a great deal for producers and Rod. Insiders tell me that he wants more time in California with his family as they grow up, and the new deal in Las Vegas allows him to keep performing for his worldwide fans who travel here and remain based in L.A. “It also gives a regular routine to The Colosseum’s calendar scheduling,” I was told.

As always, you learn it first and fast from VegasDeLuxe.com. The rumors we also have also reported about Canadian songbird Shania Twain being added to the Caesars lineup also grows stronger. I’m told that once all the details have been agreed to, that deal for a string of dates will be announced. “Everybody involved wants that to happen, too,” I’m told.

Robin Leach has been a journalist for more than 50 years and has spent the past decade giving readers the inside scoop on Las Vegas, the world’s premier platinum playground.

What about the intimate venues for the disadvantaged folks she talked about?

I guess it beats being on the road at a different city daily  for months on end - you get to live your life in one place with your family around you for the most part being at one gig for a while, eh?  All in all I guess it is good for her and her family - she is just subbing for Celine?

I hate the idea but if it is this or her not performing, guess what?  That is right and we will probably see a live show telecast and there will be a DVD for sure, eh?

I think this would be great...and hopefully it would be for a few years that she would do it that way maybe I would have time to save the money to go...don't care about anything else in Vegas but seeing her there when she does have a show there.  Can't wait.  Would make my life.....never seen her in person or concert so this would be my one and only shot.

Warmest regards as always,

I have seen nothing saying it would be for a few years - I doubt the contract will be for more  than a first run of shows with an option to renew if both parties agree - what do you think Tommy? Or Loonie?

The whole TV Show is about overcoming her struggles and dealing with her issues. The show deals with her road to vocal rehabilitation. The whole point is to overcome it, and what better way to show it by releasing a NEW song: Today Is the Day! And then she will play Vegas. I don't know how many shows, I am guessing maybe just a week or two. It all makes sense, with the book and TV show leading up to this, but I still think she is testing the waters. Like Celine, Vegas makes sense for a mother who can stay in one place and the fans come to her. Can't wait!

Shania Twain confirms interest in concerts at Caesars Palace

By Robin Leach

Canadian superstar Shania Twain has confirmed our Vegas DeLuxe exclusive about appearing as a resident headliner at The Colosseum in Caesars Palace. In a video conversation with online gossip guru Perez Hilton, Shania confirmed the contract talks we first reported as far back as Jan. 4 but said no specific dates have yet been set because she has to get her voice well first.

Fans know from recent interviews promoting her new documentary series on Oprah Winfrey’s new network OWN and new book that Shania says she lost her voice from the shock of her broken marriage and divorce from producer Robert “Mutt” Lange. She has talked about receiving medical throat treatments to get it back to full strength without continuing pain or problems.

Meantime, Shania’s fellow Canadian superstar Celine Dion also will turn up on OWN. The Colosseum headliner confirmed today that she’ll have a 1-hour special on OWN on June 25 filmed here in Las Vegas. It’s a peek into her home and work since returning to the Strip in February for her new Caesars Palace concerts.

Network officials say that Celine: 3 Boys & a New Show will give fans an intimate portrait of Celine as a mother with son Rene-Charles, helping with his homework and raising newborn twins Nelson and Eddy born last October. There also will be footage of husband Rene Angelil as the couple prep and work through the creative process of planning her new show, which had its world premiere March 15.

Maybe since the new single comes out the 12th this one is about an album that goes with the single.  Could be something personal also.... these days you never know with Shania but that's what's so cool about her.

Warmest regards as always,

Tonto

I really hope it's news about an album. Don't want the Vegas thing to be true!

An announcement that she's playing Las Vegas was the first thing that came to my mind.

June 8 is also the day of the CMT Awards, which Shania will attend. 3PM EST is just a few hours before the red carpet arrivals for the show.

If that's true, that means we all have to wait even longer for an album and tour. Say it ain't so!! hmm

If Shania is going to announce her Las Vegas shows,  then why would she announce it at the  Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville.  Even though Shania going to CMT awards.

No. It's the webmaster who runs www.ShaniaNow.com

I think?

Breaking news: Shania Twain to confirm Caesars Palace run?

By Robin Leach

Country superstar Shania Twain herself fueled speculation today that she’s about to announce a new Caesars Palace headline residency show in less than 48 hours. It would confirm Vegas DeLuxe rumors that we first exclusively reported as far back as January and as recently as a few weeks ago.

Today, Shania posted a countdown clock on her Web site and then invited all of her Twitter followers to join her Wednesday at noon PT on ShaniaTwain.com for a big announcement. That was followed a short time ago by her ShaniaTwainNews fan site on Twitter that she will headline her own Las Vegas show Still the One at The Colosseum in Caesars Palace starting Dec 1, 2012.

Gossip guru Perez Hilton added to the building excitement and said, “She’s still the one and only.” The Colosseum is currently home to Celine Dion, with Sir Elton John and Rod Stewart joining her as headliners this year. (Elton, like Celine, was a previous Colosseum headliner.)

There is no official announcement at this time from Shania, who has been coy about a residency since recently announcing treatment for her voice, or AEG officials at Caesars Palace who would produce the Las Vegas shows. There is no official indication of the number of shows, the length of the contract or if and when tickets go on sale.

The news of a possible headline run at Caesars by Shania comes just hours before her fellow Canadian songbird Celine resumes the next run of her record-breaking concerts at The Colosseum.

I will be on duty at noon Wednesday for the news announcement on Twitter and then promptly follow that here on Vegas DeLuxe with any reports. For now, everything about this major Las Vegas show business story remains a mystery and is unofficial.

I don't think the announcement will be about a Vegas show... it doesn't make much sense doin' the announcement now and during the CMT Awards...
I REALLY hope she'll announce she'll sing "Today" during the show or the release of her new album
