Accoring to AEG president she completetly sold out her first two batches of shows and the advances for shows after this batch are great too.
Sometimes the attendance figures don't match up with the tickets actually sold. People may not use their tickest for a number of reasons and not attend.
I noticed Celine Dion a few weeks ago had a few hundred less seats filled than the capacity but it is still considered a sellout.
Bottom line is Shania will sell great nomatter how long she decides to continue.
She has no motivation to make any album folks. No Mutt Lange around to motivate her or produce great music.
Just my 2 cents. Chow for now.

According to the chart above, 3 out of the 4 shows were officially sold out.

Let’s go girl.

Shania Twain had too many years on the sidelines to rest up for this Caesars Palace comeback. So don’t discourage her from riding an airborne motorcycle to the stage, gathering fans around a campfire or singing her best-remembered hit (“Still the One”) to a white horse.

The 47-year-old singer is better looking than the Trigger-serenading cowboys of yore, but still rekindles the old-Vegas/variety-TV days of dancing around on Western saloon sets and being swung around by male dancers.

The Colosseum show would have worked for Ann-Margret in the mid-’70s as much as it does now for the ’90s superstar, who occupies her own peculiar niche of show business.

“I’m not in the industry in the sense that I was when I started,” she noted last year while readying the Caesars debut. “I’m in a different place completely. I’m not a new artist starting out trying to make my way. I’m not trying to set my groove, I’m not trying to find my place. I’m not even trying to hold my place.”

I came across this petition on Twitter.

Shania Twain: Stop Exploiting Horses In Your Shows At Caesars Palace!

Shania Twain reportedly uses live horses during her evening performances inside Caesars Palace's Colosseum on a regular basis!  She apparently has a long-term contract with Caesars in Nevada.  Parading horses about the stage under hot overhead lights on a frequent basis, merely to entertain these audiences, is totally unacceptable.  Fittingly, an excerpt from one of her songs goes as follows: "That don't impress me much."  People genuinely concerned about the welfare of animals are encouraged to spread the word and boycott her shows.  Exploiting animals in the name of so-called "entertainment" is extremely cruel and unnatural.  Animals are sadly abused way too often.  They certainly deserve much better treatment than to be exploited in such venues (which include theatrical productions, movies, and circuses).  If Shania Twain truly cared about these gentle creatures, she would immediately substitute photographic projections of horses instead of using live ones.  There's absolutely no place for animal cruelty in any civilized society.  Therefore, caring people must stay away from such inhumane events until things radically improve.  Let's quickly put an end to this terrible "night-mare!"  Shania, you certainly should know better.  Thank you.

Thats just silly! I dont think it's animal cruelty at all. Shes not beating them to death or putting them in a slaughter house or hurting them.  The horses have obviously been trained for that kind of stuff.

I get their point since a theatre is not a very suitable habitat for a horse. But I know the horses expressions quite well. I've said this a few times before on the internet:
On the opening night, the black horse was a bit anxious. On december 2nd however, the horse was far more relaxed. The white horse was pretty much completely relaxed, showing clear signs of comfort. I guess the horses were a bit nervous on the first night, since Shania was a bit nervous too, and horses sense that very well.

I get the point of this petition. Putting horses on the stage is not necessary. But on the other hand... We use horses in show jumping, damaging their front legs with the high jumps. Why don't they put up a petition for that? In the western discipline, horses damage their back legs by doing rollbacks and sliding stops. Why don't they put up a petition for that? Every day horses die of neglect, abuse, and go trough extreme stress in the hands of owners that do not understand the horses and their needs. Horses are hurt shooting films because we think it looks spectacular in cowboy movies. You know how they used to make the horses fall down on the ground when they got shot in the movie? They used ropes so the horses would trip....

Shania hired a very experienced trainer, and I think they take the horses and their welfare pretty seriously. Yes, no horse would choose to be on a stage instead of a meadow. But with good training and enough time they'll know that the stage is not such a bad thing. In the show, Shania had a little pocket stitched on the white dress. While she sang she grabbed some horse snacks from it, and fed it to the horse. Eating horses are happy horses ;) . They have been thinking this over very well.

Honestly, I don't think the horses are necessary for the show. But they show is about Shania, and the things she loves, and horses are an important factor in her life. I understand how she feels. I sometimes do things with my horse that others might not approve. But my horses shows me that it is no issue for her. I once rode her to my work place, to show her to my boss. We had to cross busy roads, a lot of traffic, screaming kids and all. She was a bit nervous on the trip, but I worked her and she decided she wanted to go on because I ASKED her to, and she walked on calm and relaxed.
You can not force a horse to be relaxed, your have earn it. You cannot beat the crap out of a horse to make it look good on a stage. You have to train them in a fair way and they will respect and trust you. And if you do it right, and ask them to join you on a stage they will do that. Because they trust you and you told them the stage is a comfortable place to be. I noticed that in the horses used in Shania's show. They were in the company of their trainer and Shania. They know those people, trust and respect them, so the stage is not that much of an issue anymore.

But to make a long story short: I get the point of this petition, but they should've seen the show first before they judged it. I do not think there is any animal abuse going on over there.

I have to give my opinion about the show!

I was in attendance with my Mom at the opening night show, in December (12/1) and my overall impression was 11/10! Now that it is the beginning of April, many people have already seen the show and given their own opinions. Many I saw on the website, Trip Advisor were negative. I honestly must disagree.

I am 17, and have Cerebral Palsy. I have been a fan of Shania since age three, so my parents say. They have told me time and time again, that she was all I was content with listening to on the radio. I have seen Shania in concert twice, previous to the STILL THE ONE show last December. I was just shy of five when I saw Shania during the Come On Over tour in May. You must think...how/why could someone take their four year old child to a concert, so young. We were sitting in the parking lot, (the whole show was a surpride. I had no idea what we were doing) then I heard her do soundcheck. Anyways,  I don't remember much, but my parents have often complained about being outdoors in the grass. I saw her again in December of 2003 during the Up! Tour! We were much closer, than the previous tour. Maybe six or eight rows back. It was surreal. Still remember bits and pieces. Every Shania album is still rotating in my stereo even today, too!

When I got tickets for her "Still The One" show for my birthday last summer, I honestly got teary eyed. Shania and her music has done so much for me. Every situation is made possible in my life, because her music has always been there, to crank as loud as I want. I have followed Shania through every instance of loosing her voice, recording TIYD, etc... so I knew that she would be very cautious on stage. My Mom ended up going with me in December, and bawled her eyes out, when Shania entered onto the stage, because I was finally getting to see her perform again.

Her first four songs, were a bit shakey, and I honestly feel like the arrangement was changed far too much on "Up!" She improved imensley through the rest of the show. I do feel that the background singers, and band were way too loud. At times, we could barley hear her, and I know it wasn't to drown out her voice, purposely because when she sang acapella with RyanDan and From This Moment on she hit all the high notes. My mom seemed a bit leary about the show during the first two songs, almost disappointed. Then at "I Ain't No Quitter" she turned to me and goes 'That's the Shania I remember!!!' I thought the same. "No One Needs To Know," which followed was stellar. I wasn't to big into 'I'm Outta Here' which is one of my all time favorites, because again....the band was TOOO loud. She talked awhile right before the campfire segment, which I thought was nice. (I bawled my eyes out at the "Woman In Me" insturmental directly before btw. It shows music video footage, from past monumental songs, and I was a mess.) Anyway... she explained that she only talked a lot because it was opening night. Now, from what I've heard she has talked the same length each show from then on. I thought the amount of dialog was fine for the first night. If she is continuing to talk that much, she might want to consider revamping it a little, and shortening it. I throughly enjoyed the acapella, and the rest of the campfire set. I thought it was a nice touch to invite a bunch of fans on stage to sing a long. (BTW many people have said it's more like a karaoke sing along...one of the biggest reasons Shania is performing again is to connect with the fans, up close and personal as she did once before. THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THAT WAS!!!!) YSTO and FTMO were AMAZING! My mom turned to me and said, "Do you think she lip synced the FTMO performance" because it was above and beyond anyones expectations. I seriously thought that was the end. I thought wait, no MIFLAW!!!! Then guitars broke out, and the crowd was on their feet again. I personally thought the guitar solo was a bit to long, before MIFLAW, but she needs time to change and get set for the performance, so I guess it's okay. :) Everyone was on their feet, for the encore. I was dancing like a crazy person, but I didn't care!!!

Overall, Shania blew every expectation out of the water, and mine were high. Her voice was about 80% that night, but people who expected more, obviously didn't understand her situation the past eight years. I have been watching the videos on YouTube from this March-April run, and honestly believe her voice is now 90% back to where it was. There are still moments where you can tell she is off key. I would rather hear her sing live though, than lip-sync. Whoever expected more from Shania's voice, is in my opinion, INSANE. Shania is who she is and gave it her all, just like she has every other performance she has ever given. She didn't have to do this for her fans. BUT....SHE DID! She rocked it!

I AM SURELY GOING BACK FOR MORE, and closer seats! I give Shania props for coming back as brave as she has!

I know, I did a lot of rambling, but I wanted to give my opinion! Thanks, if you listened :)))

Projection, Lights and Staging News interview

Bob Bonniol, Video Designer for Shania Twain at Caesars Palace

Written by Vickie Claiborne | Saturday, 06 April 2013

Shania Twain’s new show, Still the One, began its two-year, 110-show residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Dec. 1, 2012. During the 100-minute, 18-song show, the venue’s 34-by-109-foot-wide 11mm HD LED screen is used to display a variety of images — from kaleidoscopic abstractions to clips featuring Twain, a Wild West saloon, leopards and a campfire scene in a forest.

Bob Bonniol, video designer and principal creative designer for Mode Studios, played a key role delivering imagery that would mesh with the creative vision of others on the design team, including director Raj Kapoor, LD Peter Morse and scenic designer Michael Cotten.
Providing an important assist, along with video programmer Benjamin Keightley, lighting director Benny Kirkham and content creator Mark D Allen of Allucinari, was a d3 media server, with software written by Ash Nehru.

PLSN: How is the d3 integrated into the show?
Bob Bonniol: We use four d3 units plus a spare to run the show. The four units send signal to 14 projectors and two LED surfaces [including the giant LED wall]. The show makes extensive use of projection mapping on scenic/architectural surfaces. One of d3’s enormous strengths is this kind of mapping, combined with an ability to adjust those maps.
Michael Cotten built a production design that ranged from whimsical creations of western town facades to amorphous bandstand objects that move, as well as sheer kabuki drops and atmospheric prop objects. The video design maps all of that, as well as the side walls of the house and the stage floor.
Raj Kapoor, the director, and Michael had an idea that many productions go into this venue with the predisposition that the huge size of the wall marginalizes the talent in front of it, and they work to reduce that. Their idea was to go in the opposite direction. Make the media more environmental, and the audience reacts to it not as a facet of the design, but as a whole... In blending the show with the venue and making it totally environmental, it allows Shania to be a center of it all, as opposed to “her vs. the screen.” It works. It’s brilliant.

How is it triggered?
The video show is entirely triggered via timecode. Raj likes to be extremely specific in weaving his video with music. It was the only way.

Who is the content provider/creator?
Raj directs and produces all of the content, which ranged from live shot elements to animation and motion graphics. As the Video Designer, I worked to coordinate Raj’s direction with the team creating the content, which was headed up by Mark D Allen of Allucinari. I can’t speak highly enough of Mark and his team. They are consummate, and they pulled off feature film quality stuff on an incredible timeline and economy. I created bits and pieces of content in various places to help with transitions and to facilitate the success of the mapping. Raj really drives the process though, which I think sets him apart from many other directors. He’s very specific, and his instincts are extremely good. He understands how to make something narrative and scenic without using a heavy hand.

What were some of the pros for using the D3 on this project?
It was absolutely a joy to do the mapping with. Actually, literally fun. It’s kind of like playing an electronic game to get the projection mapping targeted correctly, and it works very fast. The team from d3 are so responsive with updates. The way d3 works, where you are literally painting a model with texture as opposed to working in a layer-based window, is very different and refreshing. I think there are a lot of answers for a lot of questions in terms of design tools. For this particular show, d3 was the right answer to the question. There are a lot of other servers I use regularly as well, and each has its strengths.

Are there any unique video effects used in this show that the D3 enabled you to achieve?
Well, by far, as I’ve mentioned, the scenic mapping. d3 really made warping and blending super intuitive, almost invisible. It helped that the programmer I worked with, Ben Keightley, is an absolute genius, and has real aesthetic and technical skills. I have been wanting for quite some time to work with moving projection heads, but have been consistently stymied by a lack of output level among many choices on the market. In this case, I was able to get ahold of Barco 18K fixtures in Zap yokes, and they worked out very well. They had the punch to get me through Peter Morse’s “muscular” lighting levels, and being able to move the raster around and “pack pixels” where I needed them was a godsend. Ash Nehru from d3 wrote amazing software that allowed the moving heads to “super sample” the combined projection space that was the whole stage and to stay aligned very well to moving objects. We were originally going to use tracking systems and automation feedback to help that, but due to time and budget constraints we ended up having to wing it (although the functionality is there in d3). Ben worked out absolutely genius programming to help with that, and the result left many people thinking we were locked to other data sources.

What was the resolution of most of the content used in the show?
It ranged from fairly standard resolutions, such as the slight variation on High Def for the in house LED (1920 x 586) to extraordinary (7680 x 2048) for the full venue sidewall and front raster span.

Did you do the blend with the d3s ?internally, or was blending done by the projectionist? How difficult was it to go from on screen to real world?
All blending, warping, and stitching was handled by the d3 system. The warps took some time and care, but blending was almost automatic. The beauty of d3 in terms of interface translating to reality is it really is “what you see is what you get.” Once you have projectors and display devices in the show interface mathematically correct (which is just a function of importing accurate drafting), then what it is, is what it is.

Did you pre-program the show, or was the show created on site?
We did a lot of previsualization of looks, but it was mainly a compositional study. That enabled us to come to the tech table with content that was ready in terms of size, resolution and the aesthetic direction. Then programming happened in situ. Peter Morse and Benny Kirkham did a fair amount of pre-viz in ESP prior to getting in the room. The show was such an intrinsic weaving of video and lighting for a scenic whole. That was Raj Kapoor and Michael Cotten’s vision. It demanded that Peter and I work hand in hand to balance the light levels and aesthetic for lighting and video. Fortunately, we work together often, and we have a really effective short hand for staying in step with each other.

Brazilian sings with Shania Twain in Las Vegas

By Flavio Ricco, Columnist UOL
04/13/2013

A cantora Shania Twain (à esq.) e a brasileira Sandra Porto
The singer Shania Twain and Brazilian Sandra Port

In times of calls with dwarves and other embarrassing situations, the information comes from an event that happened on Wednesday, the last show of Shania Twain in Las Vegas. A beautiful spectacle with what is most modern technology, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

In the end, when she descended from the stage to greet the audience, Twain was approached by someone in the audience. When asked her name, she received an answer, Sandra. And the Canadian artist continued asking questions - where are you from, what do ...? - I'm Brazilian singer ...

Shania away the guards and started chatting unhurriedly. Then, surprisingly, led to the Brazilian stage and the two performed a duet. Sandra was aplaudi by the public that packed the Colosseum, where customarily feature Celine Dion, Elton John, Rod Stewart and many other major international music stars. Sandra, who dominated as a dream, seemed not believe what was happening.

The issue is the Brazilian Paraná Sandra Porto, Maringá, who arrived in 2001 to interpret the theme of the novel "Coffee with Aroma of Women," appears in the SBT. And recognizing that opportunities today, here in our country, are increasingly difficult.

Hi guys!
Just a quick reply to the story above. I was at the show on this night, her last show of her second leg on April 10th. Shania made her way around the front lower orchestra during 'Honey I'm Home'. As she finished up the song and made her way way back to the stage, Shania was intercepted by this young female who would not let Shania go! She continued to tell Shania how she loves to sing and then went on to sing 'From This Moment On'. Shania was so polite, patient and humorous spending about 5mins with her. In the end, security edged closer and closer until Shania managed get away... Only after getting a number of photos with her infront of a waiting full house.

The show was an absolute amazing performance of all her greatest hits. As a fan since I was 7, it was a dream come true to finally see her live. It was all Shania and she sounded fantastic... She was so interactive and relaxed with nothing to prove. She constantly had the room in laughter, especially when one of the horses did its business on stage and she calmly explained 'Sh*t Happens'. Fred and Eja were there in the audience greeting fans and politely returning smiles. Shania explained she gave Fred the job to go up into the upper levels to choose fans to join her for the camp fire part.

I will be certainly making my way back to the USA to see her in Vegas again before her residency is over. 11/10.

It really annoys me when fans like that stalk Shania. So it is okay to stop her doing her show and basically make her pose with pics with you and sing with you and then have security move in because you are a nut case. Seriously, these people need to get a life. And Shania needs to stop accomodating people with obvious mental issues. It is not okay to do that to her during a show. This is just like that other guy who basically stalked Fred and Carrie Ann and finally Shania came out to take a pic with him. One of these obsessed people eventually will be dangerous.

The Boss goes international and Shania Twain lights up Las Vegas

by Jessica Boudevin | Published: April 10, 2013

Bruce Springsteen certainly was 'Born to Run.' The Boss is still in the midst of his Wrecking Ball Tour, which began
March 18, 2012, at Philips Arena in Atlanta. As of now, the tour is scheduled to wrap with a performance at Rock in Rio in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Sept. 21. This week's chart features two Australia stops. In three shows at Allphones Arena in Sydney, March 18-22, Springsteen attracted a total of 47,796 fans and grossed more than $8 million. The big gross was helped by high ticket prices, which started at $104.25. Earlier in the month, he stopped by Brisbane Entertainment Centre for two shows. Next up, Springsteen tackles Scandinavia. He heads to Telenor Arena in Oslo, Norway, for two shows April 29-30, and in May will play in Sweden, Finland, and Denmark before making a stop in Naples, Italy, at Piazza Plabiscito, May 23.

Lady Luck has smiled on Shania Twain in Las Vegas. The country star has a residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Eight shows, March 26-April 6, grossed nearly $4 million. How much of this money does Shania actually bank ?

Um? alot. We don't know exactly how much but it is really easy millions for Shania just sitting in Vegas without travelling or the expense of touring. She just stays in one place and does her show over and over. Shania could of retired and lived like a queen a thousands lifetimes over. She is worth hundreds of millions. So she obviously wants to perform. She doesn't need to. Truthfully if Shania wants to she could do vegas for a long long time and be successful but I hope for those fans wanting to see her around the world she can tour for them or at least put out an album for those fans who can't get to vegas. Thats Kevy's 2 cents. Chow for now.

Hi Folks!  My understanding is Vegas contracts are completely separate from ticket sales. I would imagine Shania's contract is for at least $40 million for 110 shows.  Casinos enter into contracts with entertainers not based on possible ticket revenue but on the ability of an entertainer to fill the seats.  Casinos will actually take a loss on ticket sales as long as the seats are filled.  Here's the reason why: GAMBLING REVENUE of those 4300 concert patrons. Casinos generate far more money from the gambling revenue of the concert crowd before and after the show. (Way back when, Elvis even commented indirectly about this on stage. He told the audience that he kept his shows only 45 minutes to an hour because that's the way management wanted it.  He said the casino whats you gambling, not sitting in a 2 hour show.) I've been in the casino entertainment industry for many, many years and I know it's all about the gambling revenue!

Here's an article about Celine's 2011 contract:  ( $110 million for 210 shows! )

Nope that article about Spears was from 2 months ago and is totally false. There is still rumors of her doing a limited residency for much much less.
As for Shania, the details fo her contract are not known. It is alot of money either way and she does not have to travel around.

That's what I thought.  I just don't see a casino making substantial money from a Britney crowd.  I may be showing my age, but I don't see most 30 year olds having alot of disposable income.  Most people in this age bracket are growing families with various large expenses to worry about such as a house and college expenses.  That's why I mentioned "if accurate".  I don't see a casino making money from a $200 million contract for 2 years with Britney. You're correct that they are still in contract talks.

Here's a website with info from March 13, 2013:

Hi Tommy!  From what I've read on a Celine website, I believe it has been over 5 years since Celine has released a cd for her English speaking fans.  Her latest release was an French-language album.  I, personally, expect a release within the next two years from Shania while she is performing in Vegas.  Now that she is comfortable with her voice again and performing, I think she'll release a cd. I don't know if it will be new material she has written, new songs from other writers, covers, or a Christmas music album. I realize it's been a long time since the UP! release but she did go through painful personal turmoil and apparently voice problems. I don't think many people would feel creative with those problems in their life.

I'm curious what you and everyone else thinks. Now that Shania is singing and performing again, do you think we'll see a new cd during her 2 year gig in Vegas?

Once again Tommy, great website! You do an unbelievable job keeping everyone updated.

I am watching her back stage show, and it’s so fun. And I love how she makes fun of people thinking she doesn’t wear wigs! Even in her memoir she talks about it! Wigs are a normal part of life now…. Not just celebrity.
