Boy meets girl. Another boy meets another girl. They eventually switch partners. And that was just one of the topsy-turvy stories from the year in celebrity weddings, which kicked off with Shania Twain and Frederic Thiebaud's New Year's Day celebration of love.

It was, of course, a love that blossomed after their spouses cheated on them with each other.

But the happiness didn't stop there.

Kelsey Grammer found love again, and he only had to be single for two weeks. That was the amount of time between the finalization of his divorce from Camille Grammer and his walk down the aisle with young bride Kayte Walsh.

Other lovestruck celebrity couples were married in a castle (Kate Moss and Jamie Hince) and in secret (Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz), on a ranch (Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth), on a private island (Vanessa Manillo and Nick Lachey) and on a yacht (Brooke Burke and David Charvet).

Controversy may have danced around the edges here and there, but faces were wreathed in smiles, even if those smiles were short-lived (Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries).

But let's toast the celebrity weddings of 2011. Our wish for happy couples: That we don't see your faces next year in the celebrity breakups of 2012.

2011 Rewind: No. 10 – Kellie Pickler, Shania Twain Among Country Stars to Get Married

Several country stars tied the knot in 2011. Two of them even kicked off the year with New Year’s Day nuptials in tropical places! Shania Twain married husband Frédéric Thiébaud in Puerto Rico on New Year’s Day in front of 40 close friends and family. Shania announced their engagement on her website on December 21, 2010.

Kellie Pickler and husband Kyle Jacobs also tied the knot on New Year’s Day. The pair scraped their plans for a big Nashville wedding and eloped to Antigua where they were married at sunset. “We didn’t have anything but us and God and our minister,” Kellie told People, “and I can’t think of a word that can quite describe how perfect it was.”

LeAnn Rimes married actor Eddie Cibrian on April 22 at a private home in California. The 40 guests invited believed they were attending an engagement party but were surprised with a wedding ceremony. The couple exchanged personalized vows and Eddie’s sons Mason and Jake, from his previous marriage, were in attendance. “I’m looking forward to settling down,” LeAnn told People before her wedding. “Settling into our life.”

Chely Wright, who made headlines in 2010 when she came out, married her partner, Lauren Blitzer, during a ceremony at Lauren’s aunt’s home in Connecticut on August 20. Since Lauren is Jewish and Chely is Christian, both a rabbi and a reverend presided over the wedding. “The freedom of being out and open about who I am allowed me to find and fall in love with Lauren – the most amazing woman I’ve ever known,” Chely told People.

Another country music wedding took place in the tropics this year when Randy Houser married Jessa Lee Yantz in an intimate ceremony which included 20 close family members on September 2 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The couple exchanged self-penned vows in a ceremony presided over by close friend Rob Hatch.

Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland quietly married longtime boyfriend Justin Miller at a chapel in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains on November 26. The intimate group of close family and friends at the wedding included Jennifer’s bandmate, Kristian Bush. While few details are known about the wedding, Jennifer is said to have worn an Alexander McQueen gown during the small, sunset wedding.

There are already plenty of country music weddings on tap for 2012. Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott became engaged to Chris Tyrell over the Fourth of July weekend. Becky Robertson of Carter’s Chord will marry Jeremiah Scott, who proposed to her on her 30th birthday, and Hannah Blaylock of Edens Edge also received a diamond from her boyfriend, Justin. Steel Magnolia’s Meghan Linsey and Joshua Scott Jones are also engaged and have been for more than four years.

Top 10 Country Newlyweds of the Year
Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Shania Twain, Jennifer Nettles Among Those Who Took the Leap

So much love. It was impossible to ignore in 2011, with 10 country artists saying "I do" everywhere from Las Vegas to Connecticut, Tennessee to Texas and Antigua to Puerto Rico. There were first marriages, second marriages, a same-sex marriage and even a few same-genre marriages. Most were small, intimate affairs, but one was a star-studded event, full of day-after stories and tweets and full media coverage.

The most-publicized wedding of the year took place May 14 when Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton tied the knot near San Antonio. CMT The ceremony and reception took place at the 125-acre Don Strange Ranch. The couple exchanged vows on a cowhide rug under an arch made of antlers in a lantern-lit barn. She wore her mother's wedding dress and Casadei cowboy boots.

The groom was styled by Trish Townsend (who is also Carrie Underwood's stylist) and wore an Ermenegildo Zegna suit jacket and vest, a Sartori tie, Wrangler jeans and a pair of Lucchese boots that Neal McCoy gave him. Shelton's groomsmen wore Scully Western jackets, Joseph Abboud shirts, Wrangler jeans and Old Gringo boots they received from the groom himself.

McCoy was the official wedding singer, although I think everyone there took a turn at the microphone.

But Lambert and Shelton are just two of the country artists who are celebrating the holidays for the first time as husband and wife this year. And here they are, in chronological order:

Shania Twain/Frédéric Thiébaud: There were only 40 guests at the sunset ceremony when Twain married the businessman in Rincón, Puerto Rico, on Jan. 1. Thiébaud was attired in a black shirt and white suit. Twain wore a white dress with a black sash that she found in a small boutique in Lausanne, Switzerland, plus Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and Calvin Klein shoes. Her son Eja walked her down the aisle.

Kellie Pickler/Kyle Jacobs: The former American Idol finalist married songwriter Kyle Jacobs in Antigua on Jan. 1. Who was there when they eloped to the West Indies? Well, let's see. There was Pickler. Jacobs. The minister. And God. How's that for an intimate ceremony? It was exactly the kind of wedding the couple said they wanted. (Beverly Hills-based celeb wedding photographer Joe Buissink was there, too. But, still, it sounds very, very intimate.)

LeAnn Rimes/Eddie Cibrian: The singer and actor exchanged vows on April 22 in Malibu, Calif. She wore a Reem Acra gown, and he wore a Ermenegildo Zegna tuxedo-like outfit. The wedding took the 35 guests by surprise when they arrived at the private California estate with the understanding they were attending a more routine social event. Once there, they watched Rimes and Cibrian exchange vows.

Chely Wright/Lauren Blitzer: The singer-songwriter, best known for her No. 1 hit, "Single White Female," married the social activist on Aug. 20 in Connecticut. The brides wore long wedding gowns by J. Crew Bridal. The two women didn't wear veils because they reportedly like their hair too much. They were married by a rabbi and a reverend in front of 200 guests at Blitzer's aunt's private home. Connecticut is one of the first states to allow and recognize same-sex marriages.

Randy Houser/Jessa Lee Yantz: The singer-songwriters embarked on their most significant collaboration on Sept. 2 in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Only 20 family members and close friends were there, and the couple were married by their close friend Rob Hatch in a sunset ceremony. They wrote their own vows and sang an a cappella version of Lulu Belle & Scotty's country classic "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You" at the ceremony.

Sunny Sweeney/Jeff Hellmer: The Texas-born singer-songwriter married law enforcement officer Jeff Hellmer on Nov. 11 in Las Vegas. The couple and a small group of friends went to the Vegas institution -- A Little White Chapel -- to say their vows. But this was not an impulse decision fueled by a night of gambling and drinking. Sweeney had even talked quietly about their impending marriage a few days earlier when she was at the Big Machine Records party following the CMA Awards in Nashville. The couple reportedly wrote their own vows, with Hellmer crafting his from some well-known country lyrics.

Jessica Andrews/Marcel Chagnon: Andrews married singer-songwriter Marcel (who goes professionally by his first name only) on Nov. 11. The couple kept the wedding private, and not too many details were revealed. The two songwriters make their home in Nashville.

Jennifer Nettles/Justin Miller: The Sugarland vocalist married entrepreneur Justin Miller in Tennessee's Smoky Mountains on Nov. 26. She wore an Alexander McQueen gown for the sunset ceremony at a chapel in the mountain's foothills. (Miller is the one in bed in Sugarland's 2006 single "Want To.") The wedding was small, without a huge celebrity and/or media presence. But Nettle's Sugarland partner Kristian Bush was definitely there.

Shania Twain + Frederic Thiebaud — Country’s Greatest Love Stories

Shania Twain and Frederic Thiebaud’s love story is one of redemption — something beautiful out of pain and heartbreak — and their marriage is one that will inspire hope in even the darkest of situations. Their love and respect for one another shines and makes us believe a little more in the power of love.

As many country fans know, Twain and Thiebaud knew one another long before their engagement: Thiebaud was married to Twain’s best friend, and after 14 years of marriage, the country star found out that her then-husband, Robert John “Mutt” Lange, was having an affair with said friend. That realization led to the dissolution of both Twain and Thiebaud’s marriages.

“When that happened, I thought, ‘Forget it, this is more than I can handle — I’m never going to sing again,'” Twain tells the NY Post.

It was Thiebaud who broke the news of the affair to Twain. And though she was in disbelief, there was lots of evidence.

“I didn’t want to love again — it was the last thing on my mind,” the singer tells People. “It’s just amazing how life works.”

But, fate had other plans — grand plans. Twain and Thiebaud bonded through their pain; in 2009, she called him “a dear friend and a true gentleman” on her website. And though Twain “rejected it initially,” she fell in love with her now-husband.

“… I couldn’t control Fred’s love for me and how easy he is to love,” she says. He adds, “I’m more in love with her every day.”

The couple announced their engagement in December of 2010. The singer wrote about their relationship, saying, “Frederic Nicolas Thiebaud has been a true gift to me as a compassionate, understanding friend and over time, an amazing love has blossomed from this precious friendship.”

The happy pair married on Jan. 1, 2011, in Rincon, Puerto Rico; the festivities were intimate, with approximately 40 friends and family members present.

“My closest friends and family say they haven’t seen me this free-spirited and happy in years,” Twain says. “And it’s true. It’s definitely true.”

Twain isn’t afraid to wax poetic about her husband — she does it gladly. The “That Don’t Impress Me Much” singer is certainly head-over-heels for him.

“Fred is not only nice, he’s incredible,” Twain gushes. “He’s attentive, brighter than God should ever allow any one man to be, funny, romantic and cute as heck. Most of all, he shows what he feels, and that’s a quality that could come in any shape or size and be admired — it just so happens that Fred has a very gorgeous shape. He’s too good to be true, only he’s real! Good for me, is all I can say, and I’m loving every minute of it.”

The Grammy-winning singer admits that she and her husband “stare at each other a lot” and have pet names for one another: Twain is “Sunshy” (short for “Sunshine”), her handsome husband? “‘Beauty Man,’ because he’s so darn beautiful!”

Hey Keavy.... Fred's whipped. But, if a guy is gonna be whipped, than you cant get much better than Shania Twain! I still think the Reason Mutt cheated on her is because he was abducted by Lesbian Space Aliens and they did some Jedi-Star wars type stuff mind control on him. They must have given him some type of blindness as well. There wouldnt be enough narcotic drugs in the world for me to choose Marianne over Eilleen Twain. I would have to be sucking out all of the cocaine in Columbia with a vaccum cleaner the size of Mt. Everest rigged to my nose to even contemplate it. And even then, if I were Mutt and would still daydream of Shania while being around that Swiss-wharthog Marianne. Have you people seen pictures of that family wrecking Hyeena Mari-Anne? I would have to smoke a forrest of Mary-Jane (Marijuana for those that arent familar) in order to obtain an appetite (marijauna makes you hungry) to somehow eat a meal sitting across from that bulldog look-a-like two faced backstabbing Marianne. The real winner here was Fred. Way to go my friend. You did a love upgrade of epic porportions. My hats off to you. To put it into easily understandable terms here is an example. You Twainiacs consider this: Owning a rusted out old 1970s panel van with puke green interior, smelling like a meth lab on the inside, and a blown out transmission to suddenly trading it in on a vintage 1965 Ferrari that is immaculate inside and out. I would like to buy some of your hair. You know, just the strands that fall out during shampooing, etc. I have been losing some of mine little by little since Shania had vocal issues a few year ago. “Cleaning out my studio space and came across some old work. I spent weeks on this, working and reworking the dress, making her reception dress, the veil, the groom’s vest (bc no one carries white linen in January), and even a custom ring pillow! Our poor children will someday have to sort through a very interesting box of memorabilia. [sic] #tailoringwork #tbt”

Sexual Harassment Claim

In a lengthy statement on the band’s Facebook account, Lacey, 39, apologized after being accused of sexual misconduct with a 15-year-old, when he was 24.

“In an effort to address recent events and the public conversation currently happening, I feel it is important to make a clear and personal statement,” Lacey’s statement began.

Lacey continued, “The actions of my past have caused pain and harm to a number of people, and I want to say that I am absolutely sorry. I do not stand in defense of myself nor do I forgive myself. I was selfish, narcissistic, and insensitive in my past, and there are a number of people who have had to shoulder the burden of my failures. I apologize for the hurt I have caused, and hope to be able to take the correct actions to earn forgiveness and trust.”

The statement ended with Lacey saying, “I am sorry for how I have hurt people, mistreated them, lied, and cheated. I am sorry for ignoring the way in which my position, status, and power as a member of a band affected the way people viewed me or their approach to their interactions with me. And I am sorry for how often I have not afforded women the respect, support, or honesty that they deserved, and which is their right.”

According to Daily Mail, Nicole Elizabeth Garey claimed that the singer asked for nude photos of her and to have her watch him masturbate on Skype.

“[Lacey] solicited nudes from me starting when I was 15 and he was 24. Manipulated the hell out of me, demanded specific poses/settings/clothing, demeaned me, and made it clear that my sexuality was the only thing I had to offer,” said Garey.

Garey continued, “I should’ve known better by then, but he had screwed me up so much psychologically that all I wanted was his approval. It f*cked me up to the point that I STILL have nightmares and wakeup in a sweat. I still breakdown and have panic attacks when people play Brand New in a bar.”

The band’s U.K. tour has been postponed since the recent allegations. And, there’s no word on Jesse Lacey and Andrea King’s marriage status at the moment.
