Global superstar Shania Twain will be recognized by her homeland when she is officially inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame on March 27. The Canadian-born singer/songwriter will also receive a special tribute during the CTV live broadcast of the 2011 Juno Awards for her chart-topping, groundbreaking career that has crossed genres to revolutionize the look and sound of country music. Past Canadian music icons who have been inducted include Anne Murray, Bruce ****burn, Daniel Lanois, Hank Snow, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Oscar Peterson and Tom Cochrane.

"Her authenticity as a songwriter and performer has made her a global powerhouse, and we're so proud to honor her at home in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame."
In 1995, Shania took the country music world by storm with the release of her second album, 'The Woman in Me.' The album's second single, the sassy 'Any Man of Mine,' became a smash-hit, setting fire to her career and to the album, which went on to sell over 12 million copies in the U.S., replacing 'Patsy Cline's Greatest Hits' as the best-selling album by a female country artist.
Following her next wildly successful album, 'Come on Over,' Shania embarked on a 19-month tour and performed for more than 2.5 million fans. It was the highest-grossing tour in country music history.
Over the course of her 18-year career, Shania has earned numerous honors, including 12 Juno Awards, five Grammy Awards, four ACM Awards and two CMA Awards -- including Entertainer of the Year for both, as well as the ACM's Double Diamond Award in 1999 for selling more than 10 million copies each of 'The Woman in Me' and 'Come on Over,' back to back. She's also earned 38 BMI Awards for her genre-crossing songwriting achievements. In 2005, she received one of Canada's most prestigious honors when she was made an Officer of the Order of Canada, in recognition of her contributions to Canadian culture and society.
A global phenomenon, Shania has sold more than 41 million albums in the U.S. alone and is the top-selling female artist in history with multi-platinum album sales in 32 countries, including Canada, Australia, the UK, Indonesia, Holland and Norway.
March is shaping up to be a whirlwind month for Shania, who just wed Frédéric Thiébaud on New Year's Day in Puerto Rico. Her new reality show, 'Why Not?' will make its debut on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network on March 1, and her highly-anticipated autobiography chronicling her extraordinary life and musical journey will hit bookstores.
