It's to early to say "I told you so"........but

I've previously stated that we'd get the book release, the TV show and suddenly a song would appear on the radio way in advance of the CD. So "Today" will be that song? We'll see.

It's called "marketing" and that is OK! They are going to spoon feed us a little Shania at a time, creating a demand.

Tuesday comes the book. I just got laid off from my job, but I will find $25 for the book.

I can't wait.

Shania Twain to Debut New Song on Why Not? with Shania Twain, Premiering Sunday on OWN

Shania Twain's journey back into the spotlight continues Sunday, May 8th, with the premiere of her new OWN docu-series Why Not? with Shania Twain. The show follows Shania as she recovers from her divorce from producer Mutt Lange and finds new love with husband Frederic Thiebaud. She even debuts some new music for her fans. The trauma from her divorce left Shania unable to sing in front of an audience, and she had vowed that new music wouldn't be a part of Why Not? Shania tells us, "I was petrified of even going there and sharing new music with the public. I had already started writing prior, but I hadn't finished any songs yet."

As filming progressed, Shania found herself writing a song called "Today Is Your Day" that really cheered her up. "It became a bit of a cheerleader and just an optimistic, arm around my shoulder saying, 'You can do this,'" Shania says, "'Cause it was a very scary process filming the Why Not? series."

Shania finished the song and surprised herself by recording the song during the show's filming. She tells us, "That song was me living what I was preaching to myself literally every day."

Another big part of Why Not? is Shania's relationship with her nine-year-old son Eja. The show premieres on Mother's Day, and Shania is certain she wouldn't have gotten through the pain of her divorce if not for Eja. She explains, "Because I was a parent and knew that I had to carry on for my child and be a responsible parent through it all, I was able to ask myself what I was going to do about the state that I was in." She adds, "If I would have been a parent and I didn't have somebody relying on me, I'm not really sure if I would have felt the same way."

Why Not? with Shania Twain premieres Sunday night at 11:00 ET on OWN. Her memoir, From This Moment On, is also in stores.

Shania Twain Is Still Around, Will Have A Song To Prove It

It’s been seemingly forever since we’ve heard a new Shania Twain track. For the record: about five-and-a-half years if you count “Shoes” from the Desperate Housewives soundtrack, or six if like us you’d never heard of that song (it’s just OK) and instead count the non-smash “I Ain’t No Quitter.” Not that she hasn’t been in the news since then. A mini-timeline:

• 2008: Twain’s husband and longtime producer Robert “Mutt” Lange had an affair with Shania’s best friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud. (Damn.) The two separated after more than 14 years of marriage.
• 2010: The divorce is official.
• 2011: Twain gets some measure of revenge by marrying Marie-Anne’s ex-husband, Frederic Thiebaud.

You’ll notice that none of this involves music. Turns out there’s a good reason: she couldn’t sing. Well, literally she could, but it seems all the pressure and double betrayal–which is the least of Twain’s woes–took their collective toll on her vocal cords.

Not a permanent toll, mind you. Twains’s resurfaced lately with memoir From This Moment On, OWN docuseries Why Not? and, in the video below, a preview of new single “Today Is Your Day,” which Twain said would be released by the end of said series.

Best to reserve judgment until the song proper comes out, but “Today Is Your Day” really doesn’t sound much like Twain, does it? Her voice has changed, obviously, but more than that, the banjos, lyrics and singalong vibe add up to less Shania than Seuss. This shouldn’t be a surprise. After all, all her major hits–”Man! I Feel Like a Woman,” “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” half of Up!–bore Lange’s stomp and his stamp, but it would hardly be surprising if Twain wouldn’t want to keep working with him. That doesn’t have to be a bad thing, though! Twain’s “new” voice (if it’s permanent) certainly isn’t bad; we hear shades of Lucinda Williams in there. And “Shoes” was well past Lange’s point of diminishing returns. We’re hopeful–both for the song and for Twain’s continued happiness.
