I don't think it is fair to be mad at someone for not appearing at an awards show when she never announced making an appearance. Shania is good about announcing her appearances on her website, twitter, and facebook. The awards were held at a competing casino so there is a possibility Caesars Palace asked her not to go.

Yes, now casinos are telling her not to perform. Shania does not want to perform because Shania does not want to perform. Period. End of story. Just like Lionel Richie told the story of how she was a pain in the behind about where she would record the single--it is her way or the highway. He offered her all these places and it HAD to be at her beach house--she should consider it an honor that Lionel was so nice to her and went out of his way for her--he has been a star a lot longer than she has been--and she cannot take the time to sing the song ONCE with him and help out his album!? She knows how much the fans want to see her and how her appearance boosts sales--she has that way.

She is just very disappointing--she needs to remember when she first started out and not take her success for granted.

I'm still a fan no doubt, but I think it is more than valid to be frustrated with her. As a fan, I'm obviously very invested in her, and like anything that you have invested yourself in, you are BOUND to get frustrated with what you feel is a lack of activity on someone that you feel is not only unique, but worth SO MUCH more than what other people perceive her as right now.

The truth is that she currently has a PHENOMENAL new single out with Lionel. The FIRST single off of his new album. To not be promoting this single feels like a HUGE WASTE OF OPPORTUNITY. As someone that cares for her career, but who also has to watch it unfold from the sideline, I'm going to be upset when it doesn't happen. Sorry to be negative, but she needs to step it up already.

Last time i checked this was a Shania fan forum not a lets be negative and nasty towards Shania she i s only human and there is only so much she can do some of you please get a grip. sorry if this sounds mean and rude to anyone.

Yes. We are so nasty to her. Saying that she should perform a single that she SHOULD be promoting is SO nasty.

How dare fans of a singer want her to sing and perform.....

Guys, let's not start a fight. Everyone is free to talk and share their opinions. I agree that she should have performed the song at least once. She should have performed for us, not to help Lionel's cd that is doing amazing. Anyway, that's not going to happen so there's not really much else to say. I just hope that she's busy working on the album that we've all been waiting for so long instead of thinking day and night about Vegas. That's something that only a few people will be able to enjoy... unfortunately. An album would make US ALL happy... very happy! :D

Correct me if im wrong but didnt we see shania in a golf buggy going to see Lionel Ritchie at his house on Why Not, and she was travelling along the beach?

Richie Performs With Daughter At Vegas Show

Lionel Richie had an extra-special duet partner at a star-studded tribute concert in Las Vegas on Monday night (April 2) - his daughter Nicole joined him onstage.

The soul man rounded up his singing pals, including Shania Twain and Blake Shelton, for his first country release, Tuskegee - and he took to the stage at Sin City's Mgm Grand Garden Arena to promote the album.

He opened the show with a solo performance of All Night Long, before teaming up with Kenny Chesney, Tim MCGraw, and Jennifer Nettles during the evening.

Later, Richie took a seat in the audience as star guests tackled his most famous songs - Jason Aldean sang a solo version of Say You, Say Me, Marc Anthony and Sara Evans dueted on Endless Love and Martina MCBride belted out Still.

Richie's daughter Nicole delivered a moving speech about her father, recalling, "You probably think growing up as Lionel Richie's daughter, I had some private concerts... and I did. But the whole time he was singing to me, wearing those sweats with his big moustache and afro, I wasn't listening. I was a toddler, not realising that I was hearing some of the best songs recorded in the '80s."

The 62 year old replied, "I'm having a surreal moment, because when Nicole was six, I was writing a song for her about the expectations of her life. She remembered it. It's called Climbing, and we're gonna do a little bit of it tonight."

The pair then thrilled the audience by teaming up on the piano to play the track and Richie later joked of his family, "Now they get to see what I do for a living!"

Acm Presents: Lionel Richie and Friends in Concert will air in the U.S. on April 13.

Having just read this whole thread, I felt really disheartened as I agree with a lot of what's been said. I'm frustrated with the delays and promises that don't ever seem to come to fruition too, but then I went and read another thread on this siteand found a video and transcript of Shania saying:

"But the song ["Today Is Your Day," released yesterday] really, every day, cheered me up so much, I thought I should share it. It really set me off ready to get back into the studio. It revived my creativity. I’ve written a whole bunch of other things, and I’ll record those over the summer. Some of the new material might not even be released in time for Vegas because I am not going to put pressure on myself ever again. When it is ready, it will be ready."

So, as you can see, (as it's there in the video) Shania said she'd be recording during THIS summer and they might not even be ready by December, but it's definitely happening.
Don't lose faith. NEW STUFF IS COMING and I can't wait!

Here is Marc Anthony and Sara Evans singing "Endless Love" on the "Lionel Richie & Friends" special which aired last night on CBS. Sara did fantastic and was MUCH better than Marc!
