Aah.. those favourite Shania Twain hits - 'Whose bed have your boots been under; That don't impress me much; The Woman in me; Any man of mine, You still the one -a sentimental love melody country hit that's mesmerised many a couple in love, a tune that has been played time and again in weddings, anniversaries, Valentine's night, at nightclubs and bars, on the radio, TV and in the privacy of bedrooms.
Remember 'Up' and 'Always and Forever'? - two of her latest before she sort of disappeared from the music scene. A popular remix on the local airwaves a few years back, appealing, because of its infusion of traditional Indian musical instruments.
Twain was the diva of modern contemporary country music. Beautiful, talented with an amazing voice, complete with yodelling skills- she is one of my favourites!
On stage, she is energetic, a powerful voice and adored by the audience who she never fails to thank and acknowledge for turning up to see her perform.
For someone so popular, talented and successful, you'd think she had everything going for her - in the love and relationships department, the looks department, the wealth and success department and even the parenting department. But like many other celebrities and music entertainers, Twain was a victim of heart break, lost love and betrayal - and by the very two people closest to her - her husband Robert Lange and best friend, Marie-Ann Thiebaud.
The past four years for the five-time Grammy Award winner has been a roller coaster ride of healing emotions and finding love again. A bitter-sweet mix typical of love-hate relationships which Twain has incorporated into many of her famous songs which made her popular and catapulted her to stardom - only this time, it was happening to her.
In 2008, Twain publicly announced that she and her husband were splitting after her husband ran off with her best friend Marie-Ann.
In a personal letter she wrote to fans in December 2009, published on www.fanclub.shaniatwain.com, Twain apologised for the delay in releasing new music.
"Music has a mind of its own and is ruled by a writer's emotions and state of mind. I wish like crazy that I had new music by now, but as most of you know, I have been side-tracked slightly over this past year."
"The personal issues that took place just over a year ago have been well documented, and there's no need to go into more detail here. Since then, I've been inspired by my pain to write and use writing as a therapy through the suffering. I truly wouldn't wish this on anybody as a means to get inspired, but it's been a productive period with so much emotion trying to find it's way out. However, there is no telling how long it will take me to actually finish these songs and record them so they can get out to you.
"Time has a way of making everything right, and it is my hope that good music will eventually come out of it. I say "good music" since I don't want to just throw anything at you, just for the sake of hurrying up to get it out. I want my new music to be something I'm personally satisfied with and proud to share with you.
"The energy it has taken me to deal with my personal life and managing to still be a responsible parent has been challenging, and while I have been putting what energy I have left at the end of each day into my writing, it's been hard to put it all together into song format.
"Please be patient and I will do my best to continue working on a finished album!," the Canadian singer wrote.
In May 2011, the Daily Mail reported that Twain told Oprah Winfrey that she became 'an emotional mess' when she found out in 2008 that her best friend and her husband had fallen for each other.
'I figured mentally that I would never sing again,' she told Winfrey in her first TV interview in five years. Twain said she not only lost her husband, but her producer and co-writer when she split with Robert John 'Mutt' Lange.
'I hadn't written a song without this man in 14 years... How do I even get started?,' she said in the interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
According to oprah.com, Shania Twain became a household name in the 90s when her pop and country songs dominated the charts. She captured the attention of legendary music producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange in 1993, and the two collaborated to create Twain's album 'The Woman in Me' which sold more than 12 million copies and turned Twain into the best-selling female country artist of all time. Twain's personal life was also on the rise. After a six-month whirlwind romance, she and Mutt married.
Shortly after their wedding, the couple got back into the studio to record Twain's album, Come on Over. It became the best-selling album by a female artist ever.
Then in 2002, at the height of her career and with five Grammys under her belt, Twain walked away from it all. She and Mutt moved into a Swiss chateau to live a quiet life with their young son, Eja. Unfortunately, wealth and fame couldn't shelter Twain from pain in the public eye.
Six years later, she made headlines when her 14-year marriage fell apart and she says she discovered Mutt was having an affair with her closest friend.
The Oprah Winfrey TV Show was Twain's first in more than five years where she finally opened up about the secrets of her past, the betrayal and the crisis that caused her to literally lose her voice.
The Daily Mail revealed that in Twain's memoir and TV documentary, the songstress recounted how she grew up poor and witnessed her step-father physically abuse her mother on a regular basis only to see them both die in a car accident, leaving Twain to raise her siblings. And that Twain called her husband's betrayal 'a trigger crisis,' and 'the straw that broke the camel's back of something that had already been building.'
But eventually, Twain found solace with Frederic Thiebaud, the husband of the woman who was once her best friend. The two married on January 1, 2011 and Twain has graced magazine covers with the words "Happier than ever before" splashed across the front.
"I'm enjoying my child, friends and family like I haven't in years, and it's great. I've been experiencing and seeing new things every day, living life with a different and more optimistic attitude. I've jumped out of an airplane at 10,000 feet, I'm riding Spanish and Arabian horses, traveling to exotic places, I've been deep sea diving for the first time! I pull the odd all-nighter, read more books, listen to Eja's favourite music with him and basically I'm enjoying life," Twain wrote on her website.
