I saw one of her producer's Twitter and he says the album sounds "sick". I hope in a good way
The album will definitely be good, Shania knows what she wants and even if there isn't Mutt behind this project she can afford the best producers in the world.
She's not the naive girl just arrived in Nashville anymore like she was when she recorded her first album. She worths millions now and she knows it. And I also guess the pressure is sky-high 'cause everybody will judge her even more with this album

So do you think the album is ready? Let's hope to hear something from Shania soon, like a single release date or the title of the album... fingers crossed.

Hard to say if the album is finished. Shania keeps posting pictures of her working on music. Like the one a couple days ago. Unless they are "old" pictures.

Jake Gosling also produced Shawn Mendes' new album. Shawn announced the release of his new album "Illuminate" on Tuesday. It comes out on September 23. The album's lead single will be released on Friday (July 8).
So that is a 2 1/2 month time frame from announcing his album to the release date. I would expect about the same time frame from Shania.
Here's my best guess. I think Shania will announce her new album the third or fourth week in August, lead single will be released a few days later, and the album will come out in late October-early November.

If she stays true to what she said about releasing something before her 51st birthday, the lead single could be released before August 28th.
Anyway, I can't believe this will be THE year. So freaking happy.
Even if the album isn't out yet, I'm sure Shania will attend the 50th annual CMA Awards in Nashville on November 2 and perform the lead single (or second single) from the new album.
Shania might be planning on a November 4 release date (albums are now released on Friday instead of Tuesday) which would be the same date she released "Come On Over" back in 1997.

Eli Beaird, a producer/bassist Shania was working with last month at Blackbird recording studio in Nashville, just posted this 5-second clip. Is that Shania?!?! It sounds like it could be!

Shania Twain has been writing and recording for several months now. All her hard work is presumably for her new studio album, the followup to 2002's Up! -- which included both a green (country) and red (pop) release. On Wednesday afternoon (July 6), producer Jake Gosling tweeted some rather exciting news. "Been a pleasure working with @shaniatwain on her new album I can't wait for you to hear #friends," he posted, linking to his Facebook page and a photo with Twain in the studio.
Studio photo is above.
It is unclear whether Twain's new album is titled Friends or if it is simply one track of many. Also, the past tense of his tweet could indicate the album is completely finished or he only produced one or more songs. Additionally, Twain tweeted on Thursday (July 7) about taking a break from the studio in England (see below). Stay tuned for updates on this story only on AXS.com.
Previously, Gosling has worked with such acts as Ed Sheeran, Christina Perri, One Direction, James Bay, All Time Low and many others. In 2014, he won ASCAP's Song of the Year for co-writing Sheeran's mega hit "Lego House," off his 2011 debut studio album +.
The only new music Twain has released in 14 years is 2011's one-off single "Today is Your Day." Four years later, in 2015, she released a live album, Still the One: Live from Vegas -- a massive collection celebrating her two-year residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Below is a long string of tweets documenting Twain's progress on the new album in 2016:
Although he doesn't add anything new to what we already know, it"s great to read something about Shania's next album. I don't think the word "friends" used by Jake in his tweet has anything to do with the album, its title or the title of one of the songs. He meant that he and Shania have become friends, for sure.
I agree. The "#friends" hashtag Jake Gosling used to caption the picture just means he and Shania have become friends. I hate when the media trys to over-analyze things.

Doesn't sound like they really "know" anything. Yes, new music is expected because Shania said she'd like to release new music while she is 50-years-old. She turns 51 on the 28th.

Is Shania Twain singing all the songs she wrote on this new album or will there be co-writers? If she writes all of these songs herself that's very impressive as most artist have multiple co-writes.
There is also a pic posted by Jake Gosling eating with Shania and Chris Leonard. I don' t know if they're misleading us with old pics taken in June and early July or they're still really working on the album.
If it's so, I highly doubt we'll get an announcement release this month
Have you saved the pic? It's not available already. It's necessary to save all the pics posted outside Shania's pages because pretty soon they become unavailable.

Producer Jake Gosling posted a picture with Shania and songwriter/producer Chris Leonard today in Switzerland. So Shania must be in Switzerland in the above tweet.

Shania Twain may have retired from the road, but she’s still working on that album fans have been waiting for. The singer shared a photo of herself in the studio via Twitter on Wednesday (Aug. 3).
“On a roll…” Twain captioned the photo, which shows her seated at a piano with a guitar in hand and microphone in front of her.
Twain has been working on a new album for several years, though there has been no indication of when it will be released. In an interview with USA Today last year, the singer promised new music will be a departure from the Twain fans know and love.
“It’s so entirely different,” she said. “It’s better for me to say it right now. That songwriting is just so different.”
Speaking to the Las Vegas Sun, she shared that she’s been working on her songwriting, and that her residency in Las Vegas has helped her through the process.
“The success here in Las Vegas has given me a confidence that I have not had in years, even in past tours,” she told the newspaper. “I really have been able to build up a lot more courage and a lot more confidence in myself. Yeah, I’m ready for more things now.”
It’s been 14 years Twain released her last album, Up!, and the music industry has changed quite a bit, but Twain is trying her best to write honest songs.
“That’s a whole new world there for me because that took a lot of courage, too,” she said. “Just to really dive in there and expose my songwriting for the first time after a long time to my peers and have to sit there and get the feedback and be brave enough to do that.”

Although Shania Twain has said goodbye to touring, she’s not saying farewell to music entirely; in fact, in her own words, she’s “on a roll” in the recording studio.
The 50-year-old (who will turn 51 at the end of August) shared a photo on Instagram on Wednesday (Aug. 3), in which she’s recording vocals and playing an acoustic guitar. The picture is captioned “On a roll …” and is followed by a few musical emojis.
Twain has been open about her plans to record new music, saying in March of 2015 that she’s had a different experience recording this time around.
“It is a more soulful approach to my songwriting than I’ve probably ever allowed myself to have before,” she revealed at the time. “It’s fun music, too. I like to stay positive. I’ll make sure that I do some things on there that make you feel good and happy as well. I’m having a lot of fun.”
Twain’s new album will be her first project of all-new tunes since Up! was released in 2002. She first announced her intentions to make a new album in 2013, but her Las Vegas residency slowed down the process; however, in 2014, she admitted that her residency gave her the confidence she needed to dive into the project.
“The success here in Las Vegas has given me a confidence that I have not had in years, even in past tours,” she admitted at the time. “I really have been able to build up a lot more courage and a lot more confidence in myself. I’m ready for more things now.”
Twain said in 2015 that her goal was to get her first single out while she’s 50. She’ll turn 51 on Aug. 28.
***Well, it looks like Shania is back in Nashville - hopefully finishing up her new album. She and fellow County music artist, Cassadee Pope, attended the Twenty One Pilots concert last night in Nashville at Ascend Amphitheater.

I was thinking that if Shania really will release the lead single before her birthday, she could do it Friday August 26th. If I remember well, now albums and singles are released on fridays and the 26th is two days before her 51st birthday.
Let's hope her being in Nashville these days will lead to something good.

That's true, albums are now released on Friday. However, singles can be released Monday - Friday. Usually at 12:00 midnight Eastern time.

Usually her website has a countdown days before a single is released. Also, she needs to do a album/single photo shoot and a music video. I am not sure how this all works but should she be at that by now?
Thanks Tommy, I didn't know about singles release.
@ShaniaFanalways: Not necessarily. There are singles released when the album is still in the works, with artists still recording songs or in the mixing process.
Music videos can be released weeks later even if it's not the ideal scenario, because they help the single climbing the charts and the song can be listened by a wider audience. Not everybody listens to the radio.
Shania's 51st birthday is 2 weeks from today. Time is really running out for a new album announcement, let alone the release of the lead single before her birthday. A little over a week ago she was still posting pictures of herself working on the album (in Switzerland). I have a feeling we aren't going to have an announcement or new single by Shania's birthday on the 28th.
Artists and labels always make announcements about new music and release singles during the week. So that means Shania only has 10 weekdays left if she's going to announce anything before her birthday.

All the interviews she made it clear if not a album, a single before the year 50 ends. If she's not gonna release a single soon why lie about it? Honestly the album should be done and as to why she is in Nashville is beyond me. It had to be album related right? I just hope she follows trust and releases a single soon.

If the album is finished, I don't see why Shania is still posting pictures saying "on a roll...". As far as being in Nashville the past week, I assume it's album related. The question is, album related to what extent? Shania was in Nashville studios back in June and we thought she was finishing up the album back then. So who knows what's going on.

I won't believe anything she will say in future interviews if her statements won't be supported by facts.
Honestly, she's losing credibility. Too many times now she said things that never happened: the sentence last summer "Six songs are already finished and I will try to play one or two during the last leg of the tour", the European leg of the RTC tour, the Las Vegas residency by late 2016/early 2017, the album. Most of all the album. How many times has she said she was working on it now?? Ok, now we know she's working on it because of all the pics she and her producers are posting on the social media but we don't know how many songs are really finished.
The first pics album related she posted are from October 2015 and I don't believe, I really don't, that she doesn't have at least 1 song these days ready to be released, even for her extremely high quality standards.
She knows too well fans are waiting for new music and playing with our patience is not so nice from her. She doesn't have any excuses this year not to release something. No tour, no Vegas, no books, no divorce, nothing at all.
I'll be the first in line to buy her album when and if it will be released, because I think she's a great musician and singer and I can't really wait to hear these "No Mutt songs", but I don't like at all the way she deals with what she says during the interviews.
I think in interviews she gives answers people want to hear. She says so to avoid panic and negative moods among her fans right away. At the same time she may say things she herself wants to be true. But the reason why she doesn't release songs long before her album release may be that in this case she may present songs to the public which eventually won't be put into the album. She wants to release a whole thing, not just parts and pieces. And I respect this vision. For me her songs from the last decade (such as Shoes, You Needed Me, Today Is Your Day) were difficult to get (especially Shoes) so I prefer album songs to be released and not just independent singles. And I wouldn't consider her a lier now that it is obvious that she is working. She will release it when she feels it's ready. We've been waiting for so long. Does it matter now a month sooner or later?

The most streamed, most meme-ed — and by those standards, the most popular — performer in the world made an overdue return to Music City over the weekend.
Hip-hop sensation Drake's "Summer Sixteen" tour stopped at Bridgestone Arena on Sunday. In honor of "The 6" — the Canadian rapper's nickname for his native Toronto — we honed on six defining points of the sold-out show.
His Canada and Tennessee roots collide (with Shania)
Drake is famously a native of Toronto, Canada, and rarely does he finish a verse before singing the praises of his hometown. But he also has significant ties to Tennessee. His father, musician Dennis Graham, lives in Memphis, and Drake visited the city frequently as a kid. Graham was in the building on Sunday, as well as several other family members. By extension, Drake considered everyone in the Tennessee audience to be his "family."
And his Canada and Tennessee roots mixed together in a one-of-a-kind way on Sunday, as Canadian country star Shania Twain — who's been working on new music in Nashville — came to the show and visited Drake backstage.
Drake (@champagnepapi) on Instagram: "My WCW (Woman Crush Wednesday) even though it's Monday. Shania. 🌹✅😍"
"I grew up a fan," he told the audience. "I just want to say that, like, Shania Twain came to my show tonight, you know what I'm saying Nashville? So this next set, right here, I'm doing this for Shania. This is my love set for Shania, right here."
Even in person, he rules social media
When Drake came into view of the packed house in Nashville, finally, the star they'd seen in YouTube videos, memes and GIFs for years was right in front of them, in the flesh. So what did they do? Naturally, they pulled out their phones and beamed him right back onto social media. Snapchat was the app of choice for this crowd, and those documenting the night were pointing the camera at themselves as much as the stage.
Future's halftime show
Imagine going to see The Rolling Stones, and halfway through their concert, Mick Jagger announces, 'Ladies and Gentlemen, David Bowie!' Then Bowie does all of his big hits plus a few odd ones, and then Mick joins him to do their cover of "Dancing in the Street." It would be pandemonium in that arena, right?
That's essentially what happened when Drake — who'd really whipped the Nashville crowd into a frenzy in the first hour — ceded the stage to Atlanta rap star Future for a mini-solo set. Future has chalked up a ton of smashes, but unlike Drake, not enough of that appeal has translated to the stage. Still, he was deployed brilliantly on Sunday, injecting substantial street cred into the production while giving Drake a good half-hour to catch his breath.
An electric crowd
"I know we're living through some crazy times in America right now," Drake told his audience at the end of the show "But I just want you to understand what tonight was. See, tonight, in this building, we had 14,000 beautiful people, from all races and all places getting together, drinking, smoking and enjoying music and showing love, and I appreciate that. So I just want you to take this concept right here, and apply it to your life, and I promise, that's how the world's going to keep spinning. We gotta love each other and protect each other."
Drake follows his own schedule
How charismatic and captivating is Drake as a performer? When he hit the stage at 9:25 p.m., it seemed as if everyone in the arena had instantly forgotten how impatient they'd felt after waiting nearly an hour and a half between him and the opening acts. Later, he proved to be a master showman, as he may have made up a battle between him and Bridgestone Arena.
"What they try and do, is when we're in buildings, they might call downstairs and be like, 'You know, you guys are over curfew. Drake has to get off stage.' And that's kind of what's happening right now, unfortunately," he told the crowd a few minutes after 11.
"It's just like, all due respect. I love the building, everybody in here, and all of that, but I gotta let them know, whoever's calling down, I don't give a f___. I'm with Nashville, Tennessee. I can't leave you! I'll never leave you."
He continued to perform just past 11:30 p.m., but it's worth noting that Madonna was able to perform until 1 a.m. earlier this year, with no apparent pushback from the venue.
Hit parade
Drake has too many hits to mention, and too many for him perform in one night, at least in full. Highlights included "Hotline Bling," "One Dance," "Started From the Bottom," "Controlla," "Hold On, We're Going Home," "Know Yourself," "The Motto" and "Back to Back."
