I found an article on cmt posted today saying Shania was releasing a new single in August, but before I could read on, the internet blocked me from the page, thus letting me not find the article when I first clicked on the link via cmt.com. There wasn't a name of the song given or an exact date, but I think somebody, if true, spilled the news a little too early on cmt. Perhaps this why I was kicked out and no longer able to view the page. Otherwise I would have been able to get a link.

I can't imagine Shania releasing anything before her Vegas show is over. But who knows! What did the headline say that you clicked on?
But if a single came out next month, new albums are usually released 6-8 weeks after the lead single. That would be right around when she heads back to Vegas in October. She wouldn't be able to do a media tour to promote the album.

The headline said something along the lines of "Shania Twain Back With New Single and New Album." However, I have heard on my local country music radio station that CMT has had some hackers the last few weeks on theirs home website. Maybe that's what that was? Who knows..I just hate false flags, because it gives me a false hope of excitement.

i would think a new single would be released around november with an album likely June/july, would make more sense, and shania did say her priority will be for next year, so i assume its not even started yet
If there will be an album next year (and it's a BIG if) i think it will be released in november like her previous works. It makes more sense commercially speaking to release an album around Christmas than around summer. And i think it will take her more than 4 months to work on the new album. She's a perfectionist and there's high pressure on this first cd without Mutt

I doubt that. Then she would extend her residency for at least a few months and it wouldn't end in December.
I'm sure something will happen before the end of the year. Keep in mind she will have a TV special in November with her Vegas Show . She was used to have TV special when she was releasing some new stuff years ago...And rumor has it , a country diva will release a surprise album this year..
According to a member at Pulse Radio Board (radio djs, and other industry people) one country "diva" will pull a Beyonce. This member's posts are very acurate 99% of the time. Last time this person confirmed Miranda Lambert's new album title, single, and release date well before it was announced. Many people in response to the post including a few radio djs, one video director, and two PR people speculate it is Shania.
Here's the post:
A little birdie has mentioned that a country diva will be pulling a Beyonce this fall. Can't say who, but she is one of three artists Apple has lined up with this new marketing technique. Not all 3 acts are country. No streaming for the album for the first year but physical albums will be out before Christmas. October/November is the time it should happen. It is NOT Taylor Swift. The mods can permban my IP on this if it doesn't happen. That is how certain I am that it will.

Clear Channel Radio Stations to Broadcast Taylor Swift's Big Announcement on Monday
Fri, 15 Aug 2014 10:22:44
Clear Channel will air a simulcast of Taylor Swift's Worldwide Live Stream on Yahoo (or Yahoo!), set for Monday, August 18 at 5:00pm ET. We think the singer is about to make a big announcement about her new album and the follow up to Red. Why else would she be setting up this big event? It has to be an announcement of some sort. It's not like she is hosting this event to introduce us to a new cat! She can do that in Instagram, and we love when she does. We love Swift's cats Olivia and Meredith.
Clear Channel's more than 100 Contemporary Hit Radio (CHR)/Top 40 stations and more than 40 Hot AC stations will be the only stations to simulcast the nationwide live conversation between Taylor Swift and her fans.
Swifties can visit clearchannel.com to find their local Clear Channel CHR/Top 40 and Hot AC radio stations. This is one event you do NOT wanna miss, Swifties.
The Top Five Artists Who Could (Successfully) Drop a Surprise Album
It's not just about popularity, but the mechanics of the modern record business
By Keith Caulfield | August 18, 2014 11:30 AM EDT
What other acts could follow Beyonce and her surprise self-titled album release last December? Well, just about anybody. But who could do it and find tremendous success — like Beyonce? (2 million sold in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.) That’s a different story.
So, Billboard looked to its charts to determine the top five acts -- based on their weekly performance on the Billboard 200 albums chart and the Social 50 -- that could, effectively, pull a Beyonce.
We recapped the top artists on the weekly Billboard 200 going back five years, along with the top performing artists on the Social 50 (which measures the most active artists on social media) from the chart’s launch in December of 2010. Justin Bieber is the highest-ranked act on both recaps, followed by Taylor Swift. (They are two of five acts that are among the top 10 artists on both charts, followed by Eminem, Lady Gaga and Adele.)
The assumption is that the higher ranked the artist is on both chart recaps, the more likely they have a super-engaged online fan base that would purchase full albums (instead of individual tracks, or, opt for streaming songs).
1. Justin Bieber
He’s the top performer on the Social 50 chart since its launch, and the third-biggest act on the Billboard 200 in the past five years. When he tweets, people listen.
2. Taylor Swift
She’s been the most successful albums artist of the last five years, selling 22.8 million in total. But, would she cut physical retailers from the equation in the short term, like Beyonce? Swift’s last album, 2012's Red, sold 71 percent of its 4 million on physical CDs. (She even sold the CD through Papa John's Pizza outlets, Walgreens and Starbucks.)
3. Eminem
Whatever he releases turns to gold… well, platinum. OK, double platinum. All eight of his albums have sold at least 2 million apiece. Like Beyonce, he takes the less-is-more approach when it comes to communicating through social networks. Beyonce has 13 million followers on Twitter, but she barely uses the account (she has only tweeted eight times). Eminem has 18.5 million followers on Twitter, but has Tweeted less than 400 times. The lack of social interaction from Eminem and Beyonce actually works in their favor. Fans who want to engage with them have to do it the old-fashioned way -- by listening to an album, or seeing them on tour.
4. Lady Gaga
Her devoted Little Monsters fan base has helped her sell 9.7 million albums. Her most recent release, ARTPOP, has shifted 725,000. Like Beyonce, Gaga is a highly visual artist. Thus, a visual album (as Beyonce dubbed her self-titled set) with multiple music videos would be an attractive lure for album buyers.
5. Adele
Her 21 album was the top seller of both 2011 and 2012, and has moved 10.97 million in total. It’s safe to say that her upcoming album is one of music’s most anticipated releases. But, like Swift, would Adele (and her parent record labels, XL and Columbia) dare leave physical retailers out in the cold? 72 percent of 21's nearly 11 million were physical CDs, with 4.9 million of those sold through mass merchants like Walmart.
Honorable mentions (acts that ranked among the top 25 in both the Billboard 200 and Social 50 recaps), ranked alphabetically: Miley Cyrus, Michael Jackson, Lil Wayne, Bruno Mars, One Direction, Katy Perry and Rihanna.

Taylor Swift just announced she is releasing a new album titled "1989" on October 27. She says this is her first "official" Pop album. She also just released the video for the lead single "Shake It Off."
According to Barnes and Noble, CD Universe, and PulseMusicBoard. The ICON series will release a Shania greatest hits package. Barnes and Noble and CD Universe say September 9th. However a user on PulseMusicBoard (not clarified to be affiliated with radio) has said it was changed to January 13, 2015. There is no source with the user's post though.

I find it interesting that she challenged Pink to the ICE bucket challenge. She once said that she would like to do a duet with Pink.Wonder if there is any connection? waiting for new music you start to imagine anything
You know, with all the time that has passed since Vegas, and all the rumors and talks of having new music ready, I'm almost to the point where if it does come soon, the more I don't see Her being radio friendly anymore. I mean don't get me wrong, Garth Brooks comeback was exciting, but his first new single in years didnt even crack the top 20 and faded out within a couple months. Faith Hill's latest hits haven't cracked the top 20 as a solo artist either. I'm thinking the Shania we still remember, is forever gone. And that's okay. Everyone has a time to shine, and a time to just sit back and enjoy what's left.

Here in Germany they almost only play mainstream **** music on the radio. So if they'll play singles from Shania's new album it will only mean that they are not better than this **** music.
"A year ago, Caesars’ headliner Shania Twain let it be known she was looking for a top producer to help her fire up a comeback. So eyebrows were arching when Grammy-winning producer Joseph Henry “T Bone” Burnett attended the final show of her latest run. He’s an industry giant. …"
"...Selena Gomez attended Shania Twain’s show at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace seats away from musician, songwriter and producer Henry “T Bone” Burnett. After the curtain came down, they both visited with Shania in her dressing room on her final night of this current run..."

Hi,
I think you are right about one thing it is hard if you are a more experienced entertainer to remain current and to come up with material that is fresh and will be something that young and more experienced fans will love but it can be done. Mutt has done it all these years and Melanie said in the post just below this that T Bone Burnett was meeting with Shania and he does the songwriting for the show Nashville. Go check out his website he stays current even though he has been in the business for quite some time...if Shania choses to work with him then you can bet that she will be current and not only be successful again but draw in even more new fans than she has since she started Vegas...I am sure that the music she releases will be current and not be a rush job just to put something out. Her music and songwriting is emotional so it will not lack heart or spirit. I for one can't wait to see and hear what is next. I can't wait for post Mutt music. I am sure it will have a totally different sound and attitude than what we are all used to but different does not always mean bad or disappointing...I will however say that if you expect it to be like what she did with Mutt than you will more than likely be greatly disappointed. The music will have to be different in order to be current and fresh. The past has to be the past. Great to revisit the past and sing the old songs but everyone realizes the difference in nostalgia and today. The past is emotional and different from today. Can't wait to hear the difference and her interpretation of life and music post Mutt.
I didn't know T Bone Burnett does the songwriting for "Nashville". I love the show and especially the music they have on it.
If Shania will really choose to work with him, the final result could be better and stronger than her previous works. And the music of Nashville is quite successful too, the show has been renewed thanks to its music success too.
She is not going to be able to compete with the likes of Taylor Swift. Well nobody in music can--Miss Swift is a musical powerhouse with insane selling power. Shania's ruling over the chart days are over. It is Taylor's world and all the other singers are just living in it. And she is only 24 so I don't see her dominance fading anytime soon--she is VERY media and fan savvy--unlike Shania who hid from fans for years and years and goes into hermit mode when she is not promoting something. Miss Swift is constantly connecting with her fans. Shania has only connected when it served her interests.
But I would be happy with a solid album from Shania. I don't expect greatness like before. And I don't expect her singles to reach the top of the charts.
Taylor swift world? lol i don't live in that world and don't care what artist is over saturated and exposed. I am sure if shania chose to be a media whors she could of 15 years ago.If you knew the music business you would know shania hated playing that fake game. She only made appearances when she had something to sell. Shania also never had the huge advantage of social media in her prime. The public are like puppets and buy anything the music bizz pushes. They are told what to like. Do you honestly think Shania cares to compete with what is popular now? she is done with that fake game. She will just put out music she is happy with and hopefully her fans like it too. i am sure Shania is happy living in this world where most people live, not in Taylor swift's world where less than 1 percent of the people in this world live lol lol

I don't know on which planet you live Butters, but the USA is not the world. In Europe nobody cares about Taylor Swift, except for a few teenagers. Here Adele (who actually has a voice) and other musicians who make music for people of all ages are much bigger. I get sick from hearing Taylors thin and shrill voice and from seeing her. She looks anorexic and like a stick. And by the way Shania connected very well with her fans over the course of the last 5 years. She even shared videos of her private travels with her fans and she had nothing to promote at that time. That's something I don't take for granted. What do you want more? Follow her to the bathroom?
I respect T-Bone Burnett and think he's one of the best producers in country music, but god I hope there's not a Shania/T Bone Burnett album coming. He has a very niche style that's sort of Americana and sort of Depression Era that works in some venues (a la "If I Didn't Know Better" from Nashville, Raising Sand by Alison Krauss and Robert Plant, etc.) but not really in others (IMO, Hayden Panettiere and Connie Britton sounded very dated in Nashville season 1). If the two do collaborate, I'm sure it will sound good, but I worry about his very specific style showing through too much on the album.
I get Taylor Swift's success (and I like her a lot), and I think there is a BIG similarity between Taylor Swift today and Shania mid-90s. They both started in country and straddled the country/pop line (to great success) for many years. And I agree that the music "world" is very much a Taylor Swift world right now, at least in the US. 1989 is the first album to go platinum all year, and it did that in its first week. Taylor Swift has the American music community on a string right now whether you buy into it or not.
Also, I love Selena Gomez and I think that's so cool that they met and that Selena is apparently a big fan of Shan.

Taylor Swift is not a media whore. She is a smart and savvy 24 year old who knows how to connect with other 24 year olds in todays modern world. She is not playing a fake game. She has always appeared in my judgement to be 100% real with fans--that is why she has been selling so well. She does not have the best voice and is not the best songwriter. But she is a very, very good entertainer. And she knows how to make her fans happy. Something Shania has always trouble with....
"She only made appearances when she had something to sell" That is the definition of fake right there. Shania has always shown love to her fans when it suited her. Then she went to hide and left her fans hanging. I have heard MANY casual fans say of her, "I guess Shania made her millions and now is living the good life...." when they wonder what happened to her. It appears like she made her money then just took off running.....
And yes, I think Shania VERY much cares who is popular now and she is a competitive person despite her acting like she is not. Her lack of self-esteem is why she has not put out a new record in over a decade. She VERY much cares what people think about her...
I really, really don't understand all of Taylor Swift's success. It's something beyond my comprehension.
I understand it. Like I have said, she does not have the best voice and her songwriting is very simple, but she is amazing at connecting with the fans in her age group. She is accessible beyond belief. Fans, especially the under 30 crowd love the access she provides them. She responds to their tweets. She shows up at the birthday parties. She has a VERY active fan club that she heads and actively takes part in. She makes fun of herself. She handles the fame game perfectly. Young girls see themselves in her. They relate to her. Being relatable is very important.
And I agree that the music "world" is very much a Taylor Swift world right now, at least in the US. 1989 is the first album to go platinum all year, and it did that in its first week.
Her album is not available on streaming services. People have to buy it. So it's no wonder that it's selling so well. If other huge artist would avoid streaming services they would reach bigger album sales as well, but most artists allow the free streaming.

And I don't know what planet you live on if you cannot comprehend, "The tour follows the release of Taylor’s acclaimed new album 1989, which topped iTunes’ sales charts in 95 countries on its release." So yes, despite your intense dislike of her distorting the facts, Taylor is pretty much doing well across the globe--check the charts--her album is #1 in the UK and Ireland, top 5 in Germany, etc.....last time I checked, those are "European countries" correct?
And she is naturally skinny. She doesn't look anorexic to me. She is close to a foot taller than Shania--of course she is going to have a different shape.
And to answer your question: no, I don't need bathroom videos of Shania. I would just like one honest answer from her about new music. Not the same BS that she has been shoveling for years. "Working on it." "Busy writing...." a decade later......

I agree with this 100%. And Shania was headed this way when she walked away from it all. Who knows how much bigger Shania could have gotten if she just stuck to it....
People keep predicting the downfall of Taylor Swift. I don't see it happening.

I was referring to the past few years. That's why I mentioned Adele. Taylor Swift is successful in Europe since last week lol. Her previous albums weren't successful here. They were too country. But now that she's making mainstream pop music the teenies are buying it.
Her pop trash songs that sound like everything else on the radio will be forgotten in two years. Most of Shania's music is timeless.
Since you studied the European charts that well you might have noticed that not a single potential competitor of Taylor Swift has a new album out. No other big female artist recently released an album. there's no variety at the moment and thus no competition. So the teenies literally have no other choice than buying Taylor Swift music if they want fresh music.
I suppose (in your world) the anorexic Victoria's Secret models are naturally skinny as well lol.
i stand by everything i said and i am not a puppet and follow what people tell me to like. And butters i really don't care what you think or care to argue lol i have a hockey game tonight . chow for now.
Butters wrote:Taylor Swift is not a media whore. She is a smart and savvy 24 year old who knows how to connect with other 24 year olds in todays modern world.
I don't know anyone in this age group who is a Taylor Swift fan. I'm almost the same age as Taylor and she is definately not connecting with me lol. I always look up to women that are older than me. Judging from Taylor Swift audiences I have seen in videos I would say the average Taylor Swift fan is a teenager and many of her fans are even younger.
Shania has always shown love to her fans when it suited her. Then she went to hide and left her fans hanging. Shania went to hide? No, in contrast to many others she realised what's most important in life. Her priotity is her family/her son and not fame and spotlight. We will see what Taylor Swift's priorities will be in about 10 years when she's grown up.
Well, fans who have to wonder what happened to her obviously don't know what happened to her and if they knew what happened to her they would understand.
Yes she cares what people think of her work but I think it's rather because she's a perfectionist and not because she's competitive.
i stand by everything i said and i am not a puppet and follow what people tell me to like. And butters i really don't care what you think or care to argue lol i have a hockey game tonight . chow for now.
It is called having a discussion.....
Don't engage if you don't want feedback or my opinion ;)
And like I have said, I'm a casual Taylor Swift fan. But to ignore her ability to connect with fans is silly. And to act like her songs are disposable is ignorant. And to say that only 12 year olds buy her albums is also silly. You don't sell as many as she has by only having 12 year old fans. Just like they accused Shania of only having female fans and the men only wanted to stare at her......
Dont tell me what to do lol i can respond to any comment i want and say my opinion without having to argue like you have been doing. Just because you get the last word does not make you right. And don't call Melanie ignorant. It is her opinion that swift's songs are disposable and i agree. She does not have to agree with any of your comments about Taylor swift, that does not make her ignorant or wrong, it is her opinion.

It's all about sales and numbers, but never a positive sentence on the quality of the album. Simply because there is no quality and nothing new and nothing special in this album. Just the same pop songs we have heard thousand times before.
To be honest Shania’s song ‘Today is your day’ has more meaning and depth than this whole album, because it comes from the heart and you can hear it.
I don’t care about sales and numbers and I don’t give a damn if Shania’s new album will sell as much copies as Taylor’s.
But one thing is for sure. Shania’s album will beat Taylor’s in quality and depth. Regarding the quality Shania’s album will be head and shoulders above Taylor’s.
And by the way if Shania will follow the same strategy of avoiding free streaming she will for sure be able to compete.
I quote Melanie 100%.
Shania has PLENTY of songs deeper and more meaningful than Taylor could EVER write. Especially the Up! CD is full of them. One and for all: I Ain't Goin' Down

Exactly and besides that Shania has plenty of huge and legendary hits. Taylor Swift has not a single song with the potential to become legendary.
I just tried to imagine Taylor performing her current songs in 25 years when she's Shania's age. But no matter how hard I try I can't imagine a 49 year old woman hopping around the stage to that teen pop song 'Shake it off' lol.
Butters wrote:she is amazing at connecting with the fans in her age group.
Shania is amazing with her fans as well. She is so sweet with her fans. Hugging and touching so many people during her concerts and bringing them up on stage. And she is not doing that to sell anything. Those people have already bought their tickets.
This video is the sweetest I have ever seen:
I'm not longing for meaningless small talk with celebrities on twitter or in real life. I don't need Shania at my birthday party. I think something is seriously wrong with people who are longing for that. They should get a life and real friends. I was satisfied with just seeing her perform in Vegas.

Same things you say about Miss Swift have been said about Shania since the start of her career from MANY critics and casual music buyers.
And there have been plenty of positive reviews on Taylor's new album--if you choose to ignore them, that is up to you.

Exact same things have been said about Shania time and time again.....care to read all the negative reviews of her work for a history lesson?
You are doing the same thing to Miss Swift that others have done to Shania. You don't like it when they do it to Shania but you are free to be nasty about Miss Swift. You can call her music trash and say that she is anorexic.....but God forbid someone say a negative thing about Miss Shania.....
Butter, recently I've said many negative things about Shania, so I don't feel like I'm an hypocrit. I've said I don't like her live voice anymore, that you can't be considered an active artist when you don't release an album for 12+ years, that she keeps in touch with fans only when she's got something to promote, etc, etc.
But I also say, and I'd like someone to prove me wrong - because I own the first three Taylor's cds - that her music can be compared to Shania's when you talk about lyrics and style. That's all.

I love hypocrisy.....
Gosh! Where did I say that she is anorexic??? Show me that please. I said she LOOKS (L-O-O-K-S) anorexic! Learn to read! She is skinny in an unattrractive and unhealthy way and I don't like to look at women who look like that. That's my opinion. And without her breast implants she would even more look like a stick. And by the way a natural skinny and healthy woman has thighs and not stick legs that have the same size from calves to hips lol. I don't care whether she is too skinny from being anorexic or from stress or whatever. I don't care about this woman.
Since I've seen this post by you "Has she gained some weight? Not saying she looks bad. But she looks like significantly heavier......perhaps it is just the outfit choice." which you posted under a post with pictures of Shania's opening night in Vegas I think you have a disturbed weight perception anyway.
I say negative things about Shania all the time when I notice things I don't like. But I see you don't have any reasonable arguments so you have to make things up and twist things lol.
