I have learned over the years that one of the best ways to really get to learn about a celebrity, is to watch them in action when they are "off stage."

Such was certainly the case with Celine Dion. We arrived to interview the star in Montreal at the conclusion of a music video shoot. I watched the shoot, I watched her.

It was a long and demanding shoot. There were at least 100 people involved and watching how Celine interacted with them was an eye-opener. She was patient, kind, self deprecating and indeed funny. Even when nerves were frayed, as can happen with long days, her professionalism and generous nature shone through. I must admit, I was inspired to see that degree of genuine warmth she shared with every member of the crew.

I knew she was a superstar on stage -- now I know she’s a superstar within.

Travelling to Las Vegas to talk to Shania Twain, I sat on the plane and wondered how best to start the interview when I got there. Not normally something I worry about, but with Shania, I knew from past interviews, she can be soft spoken and shy.

I also have not spoken with her since her book launch and at the time she was still healing her heart and her voice. My goal with an interview is to make it a “conversation” as opposed to a Q & A (question and answer). It became that and more.

She is very excited about the new two-year stint at Caesars Palace Colosseum …and it shows. You can’t fake passion and passion came through in spades.

It’s nearly all Canada all week long as the country’s top morning talk show “A.M. Canada” presents the North of the Border names changing the face of the Entertainment Capital of the World. It’s five days of broadcasts up and down the Strip with the big movers and shakers.

Lis Travers, executive producer, said, “We’re giving viewers an insider’s look at Las Vegas, where Canadians not only enjoy visiting but are making a tremendous impact. From Celine Dion and Shania Twain to Cirque du Soleil, Canadian acts take center stage in Vegas, making invaluable contributions to the city’s artistic scene and attracting tourists from all over the world.

Here’s the rundown:

Today, interviewer Beverly Thomson speaks with Celine Dion about making her home in Las Vegas onstage and off and how she balances her family life and stays grounded while being a superstar entertainer.

On Tuesday, interviewer Marci Len gets a behind-the-scenes look at Cirque du Soleil’s newest Las Vegas spectacular, “Zarkana,” and a lesson in what it takes to be a Cirque acrobat performing for thousands. The show also tracks down Canadian mixologists, servers, chefs and managers at several Strip restaurants.

On Wednesday, legendary actor Robert De Niro talks about becoming a hotelier with the world’s first Nobu Hotel at Caesars Palace. He also shares how Las Vegas has changed since he starred in “Casino” and how he balances his life today as a screen actor and a grandfather.

On Thursday, it’s a backstage visit with Flamingo headliners Donny and Marie Osmond talking about show business.

I’ll make a cameo Friday just before the opening night of the biggest show in Shania’s career as the bestselling female country artist of all time begins her two-year residency at Caesars Palace. It’s the megastar’s first performance in eight years, and she talks candidly about the pressures of her return to performing.

Shania's teeth have changed, again. Her teeth have changed alot over the years. I really notice it in this interview. Hopefully the W5 interview will have more info.
