Hello Everyone! I received a promo email from Caesars Palace this morning advertising new dates for Elton John. Here's a list I compiled of future dates:
Elton April 20 - May 11
SHANIA May 14 - June 1
Celine June 4 - July 6
Rod July 20 - August 4
Celine August 6 - Sept 1
Jerry Seinfeld Sept 6 & 7
Elton Sept 18 - Oct 12 (this morning email from Caesars)
Unless Shania squeezes in during July (doubtful since it's not advertised yet) or Sept (doubtful since Jerry Seinfeld is Sept 6 & 7), she won't be there any sooner than mid/late-October. I think she'll perform before December, but I'm sure Caesars wants Shania for the rodeo finals at the start of December.
I really tried not to write so but this time I feel the need to have a say.
I personally don't want any new duets. I want her solo album of new songs. And there are many artists who work with different producers. It's not bad. It's a chance for her to try something new instead of copying what she has previously done. It's normal for a pure artist to try different things, explore and discover something new and offer it to public. She has a lot of possibilities. She could try to do an acoustic album, a rock album, experiment with other styles (but please, no digital sound). If she's really passionate about music she must have some interests and thoughts about what she wants to do (besides a Christmas or a cover album - that's not fulfilling enough for a singer-songwriter - it's a too easy option). But as it seems now, she isn't so passionate and creative any more. So all her problems as to write a good song or find a good producer come from her ignorance of what she actually wants to do. If she had an idea, that wouldn't be a problem.
I am sure there are people who will say I’m being negative but I only want to be realistic. When she came up with the idea of the show she also said that she was going to work on a new album. Then time passed and there was no new album because of lack of time and the preparation for the show. And we all know it’s not the first time she ever said she was going to work on the album and then she gave us excuses why it didn’t happen. So it looks like she’ll have some months off her show. What does it mean? Will she work on the album? I believe she won’t. As always in Summer she’ll have some trips here and there, she’ll do some charity work and then autumn will come and Eja will go to school and she’ll be a busy mom and wife and then the show starts again. That happens every year.
So my point is that problem is not in her voice (she can sing and otherwise she wouldn’t perform). It’s also not in producer or absence of one. It’s not about her self-confidence as an artist any more. She regained that. It’s about her ignorance of what she actually wants and what her music should be like now. “Today” isn’t a good example of her ability to write herself. It’s not close to anything she’s done before. I mean the message is quite good but the form is too simple for such a writer. Previously she wrote better. The message, the form and the words were more interesting. So as a person who learnt English through her songs I was disappointed when I heard “Today” (but still I suggest it’s a good example for kids’ education because it’s simple). For me it’s a step back. Of course there are simple songs that are brilliant but not in this case. She could have written better. And to make it short, I think the reason why we won’t hear any new songs of her own in the nearest future is that she isn’t confident not as performer or a singer but as a writer in the first place.
But I am still a fan and I am still looking forward to new music from her. And I really hope that I’m wrong. But right now I see no signs of improvement of the situation.
And I'm sure she will spend the next 4 months working on her new album that is coming out REALLY, REALLY soon! Right? Right?
NAH!!!! She will be too busy doing.......doing.......doing......
It's too bad Shania can't use some of the engineers that used to work with Mutt - they had so much experience working with him and understand so much of his genius. That being said, Mutt is a perfectionist and an amazing songwriter/producer. I don't think she'll ever find someone quite like him to work with her. I really miss the Shania/Mutt collaboration on song. She could do a ballad with David Foster, but pop/rock - it would be hard to find anyone to hold a candle to Mutt's work. I would like to see more duets.

To be honest , I really dont care if she comes out with a new album or not as long as she is happy doing what she is doing that i is all that matters. If she does come out with a new album that would be fantastic. I am just glad that she is happy and I will always be a huge fan and support whatever she does.

I agree with you. I'm still a fan, too and I think I will always be but I have to admit that I'm also pretty tired of waiting for a new album that never happens. I got to the point where I don't even think about a new album anymore but deep down I always wish for one. I just wish she would come out and admit that making new music is not what she's planning to do instead of promising one that never comes.
I will always be a huge fan and am so glad she's at least back doing concerts. I personally don't think she'll ever release a new CD (but I also didn't think she'd ever do concerts again). Maybe she doesn't have enough material to put out a full CD. I assume she would only want to record songs that she writes and maybe without Mutt she doesn't feel her songs are good enough. Like others have said, she'd have to find a new producer and maybe she's not comfortable with that. I also wonder if she feels she could never achieve the success of her previous albums and doesn't want to release anything new since there's almost no chance that a new CD would sell as well.
Tanya, I don’t understand the use of “ignorance” in your comments.
“So all her problems as to write a good song or find a good producer come from her ignorance of what she actually wants to do.”“It’s about her ignorance of what she actually wants and what her music should be like now”.
I must disagree.I believe Shania knows exactly what she wants now: to enjoy life and be happy! She wants to spend time with her loved ones. If writing songs is no longer a priority in her life, what’s wrong with that? I was pleasantly surprised when she agreed to perform in Vegas. And I would be pleasantly surprised if she releases a new cd (new songs she wrote, new songs by other writers, covers, duets, or a Christmas cd). But I don’t feel like Shania “owes” me new music or performances.I don’t understand how fans who purchase cds or tickets to concerts feel the artist owes them anything. You did receive value for your money.Of course we all enjoy Shania’s music and performances or we wouldn’t be on this site, but I don’t feel Shania owes me new music. I say: “Live your life the way you want Shania! You earned your fame and fortune! You deserve to be happy!”
I agree Izy and calmartcb, I have been a fan of Shania's since I was three. When I was younger I always hoped for new music. As I get older I completely understand that life catches up to you, and new priorities come about. Shania's career is a profession, just like anyone else in this world. I don't feel Shania owes us anything and one of my BIGGEST pet peeves in life is when I hear someone say, a celebrity owes them anything! Shania has been a part of my life, and that is what I am grateful for. That is the best part of it, She IS an artist, will always be one, whether she puts projects or even her career on hold. People are fragile and I know from first hand experience. Celebrities are alike their fans and followers, because all they are is human. I can't tell you how excited I would be to hear new Shania music. I don't expect it though. I know Shania put effort into "Today" and many people feel negatively about the song, but personally I can relate to the message. I write lyrics myself, have yet to put music to anything so far but for about seven years have been writing. My writing has become progressive throughout the years and as Keith Urban said in an interview a few years back, and have finally come to agree and understand with is that, YOU NEED A CO WRITER in life. Writing solo, especially for so long, can get your psyche to think that what you have created is not good enough. If you have a co writer than can contribute and give feedback. I am and always will be a fan of Shania, new music or not.
I have to say, I was surprised but didn't expect her to return to the stage. I even thought after I got my tickets for the show, she might back out due to nerves. She didn't and blew the roof of Caesars. Totally thrilled and give her credit and support for doing what she loves. Shania lives in the moment, and I respect that.
If I were to meet Shania in the future, I would say two words, "Thank You." She didn't have to do what she has already done for her fans, but she did. Whether she did it for her through us, does not matter. She put herself out on the line for every person in the world to see again. Critics aren't shy, and fortunatley what has come from everyone I have heard has been one-billion percent positive. Shania is human, and she is a lover of people. She cares, I truly believe that. Her life is on HER terms as it SHOULD be!

I mean she doesn't know what she wants as a writer anymore. I didn't say she owes me something. I don't think so. I wrote it only because people come and say she may work on the new album. I personally don't think she will. That's all. I don't call her names or whatever. I only believe there won't be any new music in the nearest future because she has a writer's block. And if she wants to enjoy life and everything it's her right to do whatever she wants. The only thing that disappoints me is that she doesn't say the truth. Almost in every interview we read or hear she says she's working. If she didn't lie, it would me better. I would be OK if she told us she's not going to release new music anytime soon. But hearing her say about a possible Christmas album, cover album or another duet absolutely disapponts me. But if she does one of them, it only will confirm my point that she'd be glad to come back into profession fully but she has problems with her own material. That's all.

Hi Tanya, I meant no offense. I just didn't understand the use of "ignorance" in your comments. Maybe the word "uncertain" may be more appropriate but that is just personal preference. I agree that writing songs may not be a priority for Shania at this time of her life. When I mentioned "Shania doesn't owe us new music" that was just a general comment stating my opinion. What's great about this forum is everyone can post their views whether we agree or disagree. It does make it interesting. Best regards, calmartcb

I agree on the word. Thank you.
As to priorities... I still think that it's not about priorities but about something else. But as we aren't Shania, no one really knows what is the reason. I only know that I'd appreciate a Christmas or a cover album as a bonus to an album with her original material. So I still hope it will eventually happen, I just don't belive it will happen this year.

I hope so too. I really enjoy her music. And you're right, there is definitely a reason why writing may not be a priority right now. Writers block, fear that new music won't be as successful as her previous cds, or just prefering to spend time enjoying life. I agree we just won't know the reason unless she decides to tell us. Have a great weekend!
I'm trying to find the list of dates. There's nothing on Shania's sites, TicketMaster, Caesars Palace, etc. yet. Tickets go on-sale this Friday, May 10.

Here is another article from The Associated Press which includes a phone interview with Shania from her home in the Bahamas. As for new music, Shania says she has written enough songs to fill an album, but isn’t ready to return to the studio just yet.
Shania Twain announces fall show dates at Colosseum; rounds out 1st year of Vegas residency
By The Associated Press - Michelle Rindels | May 6, 2013
LAS VEGAS — After nearly a decade-long hiatus marred by burnout, a painful divorce and physical problems that affected her ability to sing, country superstar Shania Twain said she’s finding her groove as a Las Vegas headliner.
On Monday, Twain announced 22 new show dates this fall for “Shania: Still the One,” a spectacle at a 4,300-seat Caesars Palace concert hall that includes two trained horses, a live band, and the 47-year-old Canadian beauty clad in sparkling bodysuits and thigh-high boots. She’s also staging a run of 12 shows starting May 14.
“I couldn’t be any happier,” Twain told The Associated Press in a phone call from the Bahamas, where she lives between shows. “It turned out so beautifully and I’m so proud of it.”
Twain made her debut in December at the Colosseum, home to fellow Canadian songstress Celine Dion, shortly after parading down the Las Vegas Strip on horseback. But perhaps more significant than her regal grand entrance amid a herd of 40 horses was that the five-time Grammy winner returned to performing at all.
Since releasing the 1997 album “Come on Over,” which became the best-selling country album of all time, her life hit a feverish pace of road shows and promotions that continued even after the birth of her son in 2001.
After her “Up!” tour wrapped in 2004, it was unclear whether the new mom would ever be back.
“I had moments when I thought I never would, and I would’ve been OK with that,” she said. “I love music and I’d never want to give up music, but did I ever want to put a production together and be on stage again?”
The singer known for “Any Man of Mine” and “That Don’t Impress Me” struggled with muscular tension that made singing more difficult. And in 2008, she was thrust into an unwelcome spotlight by an alleged affair between her then-husband and producer, Robert “Mutt” Lange, and one of her best friends.
Since then, she married that friend’s ex-husband, Frederic Thiebaud. They’ve found some sense of normalcy; Thiebaud coaches Twain’s son in soccer, and she said the 11-year-old is a happy child.
“You’re never comfortable with what happened,” she said of the failed marriage. But “you get to a stage where everything’s just different now, you’re now in a new groove, you’re going in a new direction.”
Though she said she was initially nervous about how the comeback residency would be received, it’s sold out for each of its first 24 performances.
Free from the rigors of tour travel, the residency is “a dream performance scenario” that allows her to balance her roles as a mother and as a country superstar.
“Vegas is just a really good setup,” she said. “It completely leaves me room to be the parent I want to be.”
She said she’s written enough songs to fill an album, but isn’t ready to return to the studio just yet. Conceiving the elaborate show, with its backup dancers, pumped-in fragrances, and flying motorcycle, has taken up her creative juices for now.
“I’m doing one project at a time. I’ll let the Vegas show settle in,” Twain said. “I’m not in the spirit of juggling too many balls in the air at one time.”
Tickets for shows between mid-October and mid-December go on sale Friday.
Well, this IS a surprise: she's not ready to record a new album yet. Who could've thought??? After all, she gave us so many new albums in the last 10 years that we have enough music to listen for another 2 years without asking her to release new material.
Yeah, you're right. If these two years of Vegas will go as great as now, probably she'll renew her contract for other "some" years, like Celine did at the beginning of 2013. Maybe she'll change the show setlist, adding different songs, but she won't release new music.
Guys relax. She's going to release a new album sometime this decade! I promise you! LOL!
On another note, I wonder what it feel like to be that fullfilled to not feel that urgency to get things done. I mean, I'm still struggling and haven't done anything what I would say is profound with my life yet, so I'm all about proving myself to myself. :) Must be nice to be on the other side of the scale.

But Celine does release new music. I don't think it makes sense to spend a couple more years with the same songs. Especially, when she sang almost all of them during previous two tours. It is very sad. And fans may come to hear her sing those songs that weren't singles but what about tourists?
I think she could add old songs that she isn't performing now. I'm very surprised that she doesn't sing songs like FAFA and LGMET. And there are plenty of no-single songs that she could perform. So she could easily renew her Vegas contract with no new material to sing. Celine IS releasing new music but to be honest, she doesn't write her own songs, so there's a whole process she doesn't go through. She goes in the studio and sings the song. And I bet she can sing a whole song at the first couple of cuts.
It looks like almost all of the meet and greet tickets are sold out already. I could only find 2 dates with tickets still available. Does anyone know how many meet and greets she does in a night? I just find it hard to believe that so many people are willing to pay the $1,500 per ticket. I was contemplating doing the meet and greet but didn't expect them to go so fast.
I completely agree with what you said. I wonder if Shania herself has distanced herself from her and Mutt's sound engineers and such because of the whole divorce. I'm sure some would still love to work with her and help her create her magic--and like you said, they would know how to work with Shania after working with Mutt for so many years.
And I really miss their collaborations. Pure magic. I really think that Shania knows what she is missing without having Mutt and thus why 11 years later we still do not have a new album. Shania can have great songs, but she needs the Mutt magic in the studio. And this is what is stopping her. I mean "Today Is Your Day" was done with a top producer and it was horrid.......Shania does not sound like Shania without Mutt behind the controls. He knew how to make her greatness that much greater and so damn perfect sound wise.
The divorce not only killed a great love affair, but it killed a great singing career and future works of collaborative genius as well.
But Celine does release new music. I don't think it makes sense to spend a couple more years with the same songs. Especially, when she sang almost all of them during previous two tours. It is very sad. And fans may come to hear her sing those songs that weren't singles but what about tourists?
She has no pressure on her and that is the big problem. If her label does not pressure her. And she keeps selling tickets in Vegas. And she does not have a husband anymore that is in the music business to pressure and encourage her, then she has nobody to answer to and she can fall back on the tried and true. She knows people love her old stuff and will see her in Vegas, so she does not push herself even in the slightest.
When she first came out, she would not tour because she was a perfectionist. She wanted to tour only after having many hits. It was the right thing to do despite all the negative press she got for her decision. People saying she couldn't sing, so that is why she was not touring. But unfortunately, she has lost that perfectionist attitude. The old Shania would feel bad just singing songs that are 10-18 years old. She would want to give her audience new material for paying to see her. But that was the old Shania. The new Shania does not care if all her songs are hits from years and years ago.
Now everyone is finally realizing what I said 2 years ago is true. Shania has zero motivation to make music. I said all along mutt was the driving force . If you remember shania said she was not even going to make the album up because of 911. Mutt convinced her otherwise. She was already making excuses back then not to make music. I do not know what's in her head and quit caring long ago. Nomatter what fans want we can't change who she really is. She is the person we have seen the last few years, not the woman mutt drove to amazing heights as an artist. She is just not motivated that way. Remember before she met mutt she was just happy making a living at music. Now she has more money than she know what to do with. She is just not the artist we all thought she was. She has great talent but no drive to reach musical success again without mutt. Oh well that's life, life is too short to waste energy on shania twain. I. Learned that 2 years ago. That's my 2 cents, chow for now
I guess she never really wanted the big career that she got. In earlier interviews she always said she wanted to do backing vocals for other artists, not be in the spotlights herself. She keeps her family away from the press. I am sad that there won't be any new music soon, since her music is such a driving force for me, but on the other hand.... If I know she didn't want to make a new CD, but she did anyway because she felt like she had to, I probably would not enjoy listening to it. I think family, a private life and doing what you want is very important in a persons life.

Here's another interview Shania did with the Toronto Sun's Jane Stevenson. There's really not much new info than what was in The Associated Press interview last week. Shania does state that she expects her "Still The One" show will be released on DVD/CD. And this time when she's talking about a new album you REALLY get a sense she could care less! It's really a shame!
Twain feels at home in Las Vegas

Turns out Sin City does impress Shania Twain much.
"It's more than I hoped it would be - it's really great, it's been a success," says Twain in a Canadian exclusive.
The 47-year-old superstar is, of course, referring to her latest incarnation as a Las Vegas headliner at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace - in rotation with fellow Canadian Celine Dion, along with Brits Elton John and Rod Stewart. Twain's stint resumes Tuesday and runs until June 1.
Her show, Shania: Still The One - which featured the sexy singer in a form-fitting clothes and flying through the air on a motorcycle when it opened last December - just added 22 more performances beginning in October and carrying through December. That will complete the first half of her two-year contract.
After almost a decade away from performing, voice issues and a divorce from producer "Mutt" Lange - she's since remarried - it appears Twain's back on track.
"Vegas is my second home right now," she says from the Bahamas where her 11-year-old son Eja is in school. "We're completely happy and the crowds have been really great as far as enthusiasm. I'm having a lot of fun."
She says she only tweaked the show slightly since its opening, adding she's pleased so far with the interactions she's had both with fans - who she often drags on stage - and the two horses who are part of her show.
"They're live animals, they have a mind of their own, sometimes they'll pee on stage or sometimes they'll poo on stage, we just never know really what's going to happen," says Twain of the horses (not the fans).
"The unpredictability of it keeps everyone on their toes."
She admits though she sometimes chooses the wrong person to join her on stage.
"I do try to assess, 'Is this person drunk?' or 'Is this person going to be hysterical and not manageable?' And so I do watch the body language. I don't always get it quite right but I've never had any security issues."
Twain even says her experience with a stalker - who turned up at the 2011 Junos in Toronto despite a court order - didn't spook her for long.
"Any high-profile person has a certain awareness," Twain says. "I'm not paranoid about it since that experience if that's what you're asking. It's creepy, but you just have to carry on."
There's one new song, Today Is Your Day, in Shania: Still The One, and Twain reveals she has written enough new material during the past three years to fill an album.
She just doesn't know when she's going to record the new songs and who'd she work with yet. She explains she would likely draw up a short-list of producers and see how they work in their respective environments to arrive at the right collaborator.
"I could record a new album now if I wanted," says Twain, who expects Shania: Still the One will be turned into a live DVD/CD.
"I got to get into the spirit of it ... I don't know whether it's age or whether my thought process is different. But I just can't juggle all the balls at the same time anymore. Or I don't want to ... So I think it's one phase at a time. I don't know. Maybe when I'm done with my contract in Vegas, I would say, 'OK, now it's time to spend a year in the studio.' Maybe it would be that. That's what I'm feeling. You never know. Maybe once I get a year into Vegas maybe I'll feel differently."
Twain's sister Carrie Ann is part of the Vegas act, singing back-up.
But while Eja has a great voice and is musical, Twain says he wouldn't be caught dead up there.
"He's got a beautiful voice but he won't sing," she says of Eja, whose father is Lange. "That's OK, I'm not going to push him. ... He always just says, 'Never (drag me up on stage) mom. Never do that.' ... Maybe he'll reach an age where he'll say, 'Yeah, mom I'd love to do that!' But not right now. That's for sure.
I don't think its Shania doesn't care about making new music, but I think she is just nervous about about how everyone will react. I would perfer Shania make new music when her total heart into it no matter how long it takes.
Yeah she probably is nervous or scared BUT she writes all her own songs and I'm sure she could find a producer if she really wanted to and sit down and say I like this, this and this kind of sound... After all these years without new music, there are way too many "maybe"'s which gives me the sense her heart isn't in it anymore and she just doesn't care.
"Maybe when I'm done with my contract in Vegas, I would say, 'OK, now it's time to spend a year in the studio.' Maybe it would be that. That's what I'm feeling. You never know. Maybe once I get a year into Vegas maybe I'll feel differently."

Why? Because she does not dedicate her life to people she don't know and she prefers to spend time with her loved ones? Seriously...
But this part got me quite exited: "I could record a new album now if I wanted," says Twain, who expects Shania: Still the One will be turned into a live DVD/CD.
It would be great if they'd release the show on CD/DVD. Hardy thought they wouldn't though, since it would make the ticket sales drop. So they won't realease it untill the show is over.

No, it makes people angry because she is wasting her talent and disappointing her fans. You know, the fans who made her a multi-millionaire and able to retire in her 40's. Yeah. Those people. Us. I think we would all prefer "to spend time with our loved ones" 24/7 like she does. We the fans have given her that lifestyle. So the least she can do is is go into her fabulous recording studio and give us a new album once a decade.
So yes, there is anger. Anger that she has no motivation and really could not care less about her fan base. No extensive tour, so people have to pay thousands to see her in Vegas. And new new albums. We made her a millionaire.
There are millions of singers who would kill to be in her position and have her fan base waiting for an album she just says, "Maybe I will record in the future......."
I am angry too but I would say she owes nothing to us now. When we paid money to buy her albums and see her in concerts she seriously worked and she was worth the money. I personally waste no money on her now. I won't go to Vegas to see her exactly the same reason she doesn't record a new album and work properly - I have the loved one who deserve my time, attention and money more than her. What makes me angry is her lies last couple of years when there were no maybes and she said she would absolutely make an album in some time. Now these maybes appear. P.S. I wish we could all give up on our jobs and spend all time with our family because - oh life was so cruel to us at some points. Why should we work?
Why so bitter towards Shania? Why so jealous of her fame and fortune and her way of life? Why are 99.9% of us working until retirement age .... because we didn't have the drive or talent to be an entertainer, athlete, or entrepreneur. Don't hold Shania responsible for your limitations. We all received value for money spent on Shania (cds, dvds, concert tickets). Her talents have given all of us many hours of entertainment and enjoyment. Shania owes us nothing! I'll never understand people who think an entertainer owes them because they bought their music or attended their concerts.
Also, I may be wrong but I don't recall Shania ever having an official press release that she was going to release a new cd and then didn't do it. Maybe in interviews she said she has been working on new songs but did she ever state a definitive month and year it was going to be released? I find it difficult that some people feel they have been mislead about a new release.
Shania's two-year residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace resumes tonight in Las Vegas! This is the third leg of her "Still The One" show and consists of 12 concerts May 14 - June 1. After this run of shows, Shania will not return to the stage until October 15. Tickets are on-sale now for the 22 shows that run through December 14!

Seriously now... how does jealousy fit into wanting her to release this long overdue album? If you want to fault me, it's more impatience than anything else, but jealousy? Not so much.
Will resist the urge to reply to ridiculous, moronic, and idiotic posts. *Goes into resisting mode*.
But I will say that they are at least predictable with the asinine "jealous" angle......lol

Wow, if that doesn't sound like jealousy I don't know what does.
It also sounds ridiculous, moronic, idiotic and asinine .....lol
