Shania Twain Says Las Vegas Residency Doubled as "Personal and Professional Therapy"
By ABC News Radio | February 18, 2015
Shania Twain spent the last two years headlining her own show at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, but she spent months preparing for the residency before she ever performed for an audience. On top of being nervous about tackling such a big production, Shania faced considerable vocal troubles as she started getting ready for the Vegas gig. Having the show’s start date as a deadline helped her focus on overcoming those issues.
She says, “The deadline and everything like that and having the team involved, really put me on the spot, and I was up for putting myself on the spot. So, I put that pressure on myself, and took on the show, and it really worked. I guess it was sort of personal and professional therapy really.”
Shania goes on to say she really tested her limits and got out of her comfort zone with her Shania…Still the One residency in Vegas. Fans who didn’t make it to see the show in person can get in on the fun when her new DVD and CD, Shania: Still the One Live from Vegas, is released on March 3. A special one-hour version of the show will air on ABC February 28 at 9 p.m. ET.
One hour? The show on the Norwegian website was already an hour and a half. If the ABC thing has commercials, they'll end up cutting half of the show...

I'm thinking it will be more like what they did when Live In Chicago aired on TV. They didn't include every performance in the TV special that was on the DVD. Also, there were a few behind the scenes segments between the songs too. My DVR said that select backstage footage will be shown. However, what seems different to me is the Chicago DVD did not include the behind the scenes footage, while the Still The One DVD descriptions state that footage will be included.
Here is the show trailer which was released on Shania's Vevo channel today. It includes quick clips of the show and the full-performance version of, "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" iTunes Pre-Order of the DVD version (SD + HD) available now. iTunes release date is, March 10th.

That's a good thing.... more people will be tempted to buy the DVD to watch the whole thing.
Shania Twain special 'Still the One Live From Vegas' to air on CTV
The Canadian Press | February 20, 2015 1:49PM EST
TORONTO -- For those who missed Shania Twain's two-year residency on the Las Vegas Strip, "Shania: Still the One Live From Vegas" is coming to Canadian TV.
CTV will air her performance special on Feb. 28.
The Timmins, Ont., country superstar launched her Vegas sojourn back in December 2012.
The elaborate production featured a 13-piece band, dancers, a "flying" motorcycle and two trained horses.
"Still the One Live From Vegas," which is also getting a CD/DVD release, pads out her performances with previously unseen backstage and rehearsal footage.
Re-live Shania’s ground-breaking and spectacular show recorded live at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on DVD, Blu-ray and CD. Featuring all of her greatest hits, and Backstage Pass, an hour long documentary telling the story of the creation and staging of this amazing live show. Preorder now!
***I don't know why they posted links to Amazon UK. DVDs and Blu-rays are region-specific and will not play in all countries.
DVDs from the UK are Region 2: Japan, Europe (excluding Russia, Belarus and Ukraine), Greenland, South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho, Egypt and the Middle East
Blu-ray discs from the UK are Region B/2: Europe, Greenland, French territories, Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand
So could her live album be on ITunes album charts? Billboard perhaps? How does it work where it's a live album of old tracks? Thanks
Since at this time the CD version has not been made available in the US iTunes store, it will not make the 'albums' charts. It is listed as a "Concert Film" in the iTunes US store. So, it is very possible we could see it climb that chart of releases once it actually is available for download. Billboard carries compilation albums on their overall albums chart (like Greatest Hits). However they only chart studio releases. So, no, the Live album will not be seen on Billboard. Which, could also be another reason as to why it is only being promoted in the US via radio stations. Usually when a studio album charts, television appearances will be scheduled so that the artist can discuss the album and accompany their "interview" if you will, by a live performance.
I am not all that familiar with how things run in Canada. But, the promo appearance list states that in select Canadian interviews Shania will discuss the: Live CD +DVD/ Her Vegas residency / future plans.
I don't know if by "Vegas residency" they mean the STO residency or the short 21 performance residency scheduled in Sept-Oct of this year.
Ummmmm....Either I live under a rock, or Shania and her team are terrible promoters. I haven't seen one commercial for this special in the US. Why didn't they advertise during the Oscars?!? This is airing on the same network!!
Are they setting this up for failure on purpose?
Just a question!

Well unless you are watching ABC all afternoon and evening every day then you don't know if they ran any promos. But they usually don't start till about 3 or 4 days before the show and then have more promos in the last 2 days before the show. So the commercials will come soon. Also this has nothing to do with Shania, it is ABC who decides when to spot their promo commercials.
Shania Twain teases ‘exciting news’ on Twitter ahead of live concert CD/DVD release
HELLO! Canada | February 24, 2015
Shania Twain fans, brace yourselves. The country music star has taken to Twitter to tease some upcoming “exciting news,” which has left her legions of followers speculating about a new album or world tour.
This past December, Canada’s country queen said farewell to Las Vegas and ended her two-year residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Now, the singer is busy promoting her Shania: Still the One Live From Vegas concert CD and DVD, which hits stores on March 3.
Ahead of it release, the jet-setting songstress shared a glamorous photo on social media, which shows her standing on a beach next to a private plane. Shania captioned the snap: “Heading out to promote my new CD/DVD! Stay tuned for some exciting news…”
Late last year, the Canadian songstress revealed she was hoping to release a new album in 2015 – her first in more than a decade.
After performing at the Calgary Stampede this past summer, the 49-year-old beauty from Timmins, Ont. revealed that she was planning to go on tour again soon, telling The Calgary Herald that she was looking at possible dates in the spring.
As fans eagerly await Shania’s big announcement, they can catch the primetime special of her live Vegas concert, which airs Saturday Feb. 28 on CTV.
The full performance of her Still The One show featured a host of spectacles, including a flying motorcycle and trained horses, and renditions of some of her biggest hits, including “You’re Still the One,” “I’m Gonna Getcha Good,” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman.”
I heard that the Oscars commercial slots were almost (or more maybe?) expensive than the Super Bowl slots. Not that I think Shan can't afford it, but I do think it is pretty weird. Then again, they are only giving Shan an hour of time when the whole show could take an hour and a half (the CD runtime is 68:43 per Wikipedia and that doesn't include most of the cutscenes).

Shania Twain Shares Live Video of ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman’ [WATCH]
By Gayle Thompson | February 25, 2015 11:00 AM
In advance of Shania Twain‘s Shania: Still the One Live From VegasTV special and live CD/DVD package, the singer has released a live video for her hit single “Man! I Feel Like a Woman.”
The song is originally from Twain’s 1997 Come on Over album, which has sold more than 40 million copies to date, and was included in her Shania: Still the One Las Vegas show, which ran at the Colosseum in Caesar’s Palace from 2012 until December 2014.
Twain’s TV special is set to air on Feb. 28 at 9PM ET on ABC, just a few days before the release of her live CD/DVD on March 3. The double-disc set contains an 18-track CD, along with a DVD featuring live footage of the same setlist, plus four interludes and an additional song, “Carrie Anne.” The televised concert event will showcase some of that material.
On Twitter, the Canadian country artist hinted at a big announcement — perhaps new music.
“I am in the middle of putting the album together, and that’s very exciting,” Twain divulged last fall. “That’s a whole new world there for me because that took a lot of courage, too. Just to really dive in there and expose my songwriting for the first time after a long time to my peers and have to sit there and get the feedback and be brave enough to do that.”
Shania: Still the One Live From Vegas is available to pre-order here and via Walmart.

There was a commercial last night during "Nashville." The commercial will probably air again tonight on ABC.

Anybody see my #StillTheOne spot during @Nashville_ABC? #Nashville
I've been tracking the shipping and it's in Chattanooga today, but the UPS website said there was severe weather and it may be delayed. It originally told me the 28th, though.

Some people have received their CD/DVD. The DVD contains the great behind-the-scenes footage including backstage and pre-production of Shania's Las Vegas show and "home videos" of Shania in the Bahamas (running on the beach in a bikini), Switzerland and New York.

No music this year Shania said so not really excited about a show about old songs. She is still collaborating with producers she says and says it won't be ready this year lol xxxxx
UPS sure is taking its slow time shipping this CD. I get that the release date isn't until next week, but it shipped like three days ago and it doesn't really have that far to go (for me).

I got my "Still The One" Vegas bundle today. It actually came in the mail. One of those "UPS to USPS" deals. (The CD and DVD are together in the jewel case.)

It’s been 13 years since Twain last released an album of new material, and clearly country fans are excited for a new release from the singer — even if it doesn’t contain any new music. Shania: Still the One Live From Vegas earned nearly 50 percent of votes against March’s other new country releases.
Twain first announced her live CD/DVD package, featuring highlights from her Las Vegas residency, in late January. The CD includes 18 songs, four of which are acoustic tracks, while the DVD is video footage of the same setlist, plus four interludes and an extra song, “Carrie Anne.” Twain wrapped up her time in Vegas in December 2014, after 105 shows at the Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace since 2012.
“This show has been a labor of love for over three years,” Twain says. “It has meant so much to me and was such a privilege to live out my visions on that stage, and it is so exciting to now get to share the whole experience with the fans all over the world!”
In advance of the album’s release on March 3, Twain has shared a new live music video for her 1999 smash hit “Man! I Feel Like a Woman.” Some of the material from Shania: Still the One Live From Vegas was also part of a TV concert special broadcast on ABC on Feb. 28.
Twain’s fans may not have to wait much longer for new music either: The singer told the Las Vegas Sun in October that she was “in the middle of putting [a new] album together.”
“That’s a whole new world there for me because that took a lot of courage, too,” Twain adds. “Just to really dive in there and expose my songwriting for the first time after a long time to my peers and have to sit there and get the feedback and be brave enough to do that.”
Twain was diagnosed with vocal dysphonia in 2011, making singing difficult, but she says that her success in Las Vegas gave her confidence that she could continue her musical career.
“I really have been able to build up a lot more courage and a lot more confidence in myself,” she says. “I’m ready for more things now.”
In July 2014, Twain also hinted at the possibility of a new tour, and as she embarked on her promotional tour for her new CD/DVD, she tweeted to “stay tuned for some exciting news…”

Shania: Still the One Live From Vegas To Premiere This Thursday on CMT
03/1/15, 11:19 am EST
Shania Twain is coming to CMT Canada!
Over the course of two years, international superstar Shania Twain entertained concert-goers from all over the world at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Shania’s fans can now watch the Shania: Still the One stage performance from the comfort of their home when the special premieres on CMT this Thursday, March 5 at 9pm ET/6pm PT.
The special will feature country music’s top-selling female artist of all time perform her biggest hits and a spectacular stage performance that includes Shania’s 13-piece band, dancers, trained horses and even a flying motorcycle.
For a preview of what’s to come, check out Shania’s performance of “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” below.
I got my package this evening. The t-shirt is great. The DVD has an hour-long "backstage pass" feature that is very entertaining. Shows Shan, Carrie, the crew, and a bit of Fred and Eja. I guess my only criticism is that the CD booklet is very sparse. Most include acknowledgements from the artist and stuff like that but this didn't even have songwriter credits (even though we know they're all [except Win My Love] written by Shan & Mutt).

Yes, it's a CD/DVD combo at Walmart. It will not be on the Billboard chart. The concert will be available on Blu-ray in the U.S. at Best Buy on April 7.

Shania Twain Live In Vegas CD Review, Having Big Fun With Twain, And Will She Tour This Excellent Show?
By John Emms | March 3, 2015
Shania Twain’s Live In Vegas cd/dvd not only rocks the pop, and rolls the country, but it’s sheer musicality is very impressive!
After 105 shows and selling over 337,000 tickets in her Las Vegas residency this is a superb reward for fans who did not see the actual live show
From the start of the cd it’s very obvious Shania’s band of 10 musicians and 3 background vocalists is not just solid but their chops are superb.
With I’m Gonna Getcha Good, You Win My Love and later on with the rollicking That Don’t Impress Me Much Twain’s voice sounds natural and unforced.
This is a confident Shania Twain and it shows.
Underneath the massive groove of drummer JD Blair and bassist Andy Cichon, the guitar/fiddle/vocal work of bandleader Cory Churko and the impressive lead fills and solos by Joshua Gooch simply kill.
Gooch’s guitar work can go from Clapton-esque, to bright country twang often in one song.
Elsewhere, the retro jangle of Up and the gorgeous country of No One Needs to Know finds Shania blending gorgeously with her sister Carrie Ann Brown and Canadian twin vocalists Ryan and Dan Kowarsky.
This killer vocal blend goes on for the entire performance and is as pure as snow falling on a Timmins Winter Day.
According to Twain’s press release the Vegas show “has been a labour of love for over three years and it was a privilege to live out my visions on that stage””
Elsewhere, it has to be said the ambience of the fiddles, pedal steel of Justin Schipper and keyboard work of Hardy Hemphill works like glue.
The acoustic part of the show starts with short versions of among others of C’mon Over, and a brand new inspired song titled Today Is Your Day.
Without a doubt Twain sings her heart out on the ballads Still the One and From This Moment On.
It’s an intimate moment to say the least.
I first watched the T.V special this past weekend and it was a spectacle.
Costumes and stage design as well as front porch jams, horses and the stage backgrounds were very crisp and multi-sensory.
This is all included on the dvd part of the package which I will delve into later today.
The important thing to realize is that despite the Vegas flash this holds up musically very well.
A tour of this show would kill.
Another Timmins Ontario concert of this particular all out impressive show would be bigger than her homecoming concert in 1999.
That I have no doubt.
This is a must have cd/dvd for any Shania Twain fan.

From This Moment On is probably my favorite track on the CD, but I have a new love for I'm Outta Here.
I have a new love for "I'm Outta Here" too! I love how she changed some of the phrasing in the verses. "You Win My Love" and "That Don't Impress Me Much" are fun too!
