According to Barnes and Noble, CD Universe, and PulseMusicBoard. The ICON series will release a Shania greatest hits package. Barnes and Noble and CD Universe say September 9th. However a user on PulseMusicBoard (not clarified to be affiliated with radio) has said it was changed to January 13, 2015. There is no source with the user's post though.
I ran a search on ICON Series Greatest Hits and saw that this series is reserved for artists who are either no longer active, their best years are behind them (if they're still around), retired or deceased. I saw Donna Summer (deceased), Village People (some original members are deceased), Linda Ronstadt (retired due to illness), Reba McEntire (her best years are behind her), Shaggy (no longer active, at least in Top 40), Bobby Darin (deceased), MC Hammer (no longer active) and Huey Lewis and the News (need I say more?).
Since I'm having a great weekend, I will refrain from saying anymore. Enjoy yourselves!

I would have to disagree. It is a way for the label to make more money on impulse buys. Billy Currington, Gary Allan, and Josh Turner are also artists among that list. They are still active and have had some of the biggest hits of their career after the release of these collections.
Hmm. Okay. I'm not here to pick fights. Just an observation. In Shania's case, this never occurred when she was active; with the exception of her Limelight Sessions. Her only Greatest Hits (I mean official) was her 2004 release, which felt more like a goodbye. But at this point in her career it feels anti-climatic. Unless ICON includes rare pictures and commentary, it will be a trite package. 😳 The only way that I could feel positively about another Greatest Hits compilation was if she announced new music shortly after. Then I would understand the GH was for publicity; a way for non-fans to remember Shania.
Amazon has lowered price to $6.99 with free shipping if you pre-order the Icon compilation between now and the week prior to release. Release still set for: January 13, 2015.
According to AMAZON US the ICON CD release date has been changed to December 31, 2020. Yes, 2020. Five years from now. I did pre-order it though because my two copies of GH are beyond use for most of the songs. (I was six and careless when I got the first one, and the second has been way overplayed). Under "My Orders" however, it still says delivery by Jan. 13, 2015.

20 minutes later, now it says the CD is "Currently Unavailable." I just pre-ordered it Monday. "My Orders" says Expected delivery: Monday, January 19, 2015 - Tuesday, January 20, 2015.
