Shania Twain teases ‘exciting news’ on Twitter ahead of live concert CD/DVD release
HELLO! Canada | February 24, 2015
Shania Twain fans, brace yourselves. The country music star has taken to Twitter to tease some upcoming “exciting news,” which has left her legions of followers speculating about a new album or world tour.
This past December, Canada’s country queen said farewell to Las Vegas and ended her two-year residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Now, the singer is busy promoting her Shania: Still the One Live From Vegas concert CD and DVD, which hits stores on March 3.
Ahead of it release, the jet-setting songstress shared a glamorous photo on social media, which shows her standing on a beach next to a private plane. Shania captioned the snap: “Heading out to promote my new CD/DVD! Stay tuned for some exciting news…”
Late last year, the Canadian songstress revealed she was hoping to release a new album in 2015 – her first in more than a decade.
After performing at the Calgary Stampede this past summer, the 49-year-old beauty from Timmins, Ont. revealed that she was planning to go on tour again soon, telling The Calgary Herald that she was looking at possible dates in the spring.
As fans eagerly await Shania’s big announcement, they can catch the primetime special of her live Vegas concert, which airs Saturday Feb. 28 on CTV and ABC.
The full performance of her Still The One show featured a host of spectacles, including a flying motorcycle and trained horses, and renditions of some of her biggest hits, including “You’re Still the One,” “I’m Gonna Getcha Good,” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman.”
KEVY is right again lol Shania revealed to Glamour recently that her music won't be ready this year but probably next year lol lol lol lol lol She will be 51 when it is released. Oh well no use getting upset, just laugh about it lol
Hard to believe this is the 'exciting news' Shania was talking about. We already know she is working on a new music. So now it's next year? Yeah, right.
Glamour: One of your recent Instagram posts teased some exciting news. What more can you say? Shania: I’m in the studio working on new music everyday and I’m collaborating with producers at the moment, so I’m very serious about it. I don’t think it will make it for this year, but I’m quite confident it will be next year. I just want it to be really right and be more about the quality than anything. The songwriting part of it has just gotten me in a whole other zone in my mind, and I think about it live, so I’m pumped personally about that new chapter.
A "Good Morning America" commercial just aired saying Shania will be on next week to announce a big surprise.
How much do you want to bet it is news about vegas concerts in September or October. Or my second guess is she will be doing a big one off concert in the States somewhere since she is announcing on GMA.
It appears Shania will announce some type of TOUR during her appearance on "Good Morning America" on March 4! Check out the "tour" URL splash page to enter her website.
Something isn't right with the ticket on-sale dates. American Express presale is listed twice. One says it starts tomorrow, March 2, and the other says March 6 which is the General Public on-sale date. And how can any presale start tomorrow if the tour hasn't even been announced yet?

I was wondering about the encore "Still The One" Vegas dates in Sep./Oct. too. I guess that got cancelled. As far as her Vegas stop for this tour, the MGM Grand Arena is much bigger than The Colosseum.

I'm not sure I believe this. It's really poorly done. The text is Times New Roman, which does not match Shan's recent text branding (cf., her own name at the top of the page); the formatting of the list is awful (date format is not consistent with North American conventions, why wouldn't they separate it into columns?); there's no title on the page other than her name; "latin america" was not capitalized; plus the date conflicts listed above. My biggest problem with it, though, is why isn't formatted as a webpage where they can add in links to Ticketmaster to actually buy the tickets? It doesn't make sense. I'm sure the tour is true, based on the tour.shaniatwain.com page, but I'm not sure about the dates/cities. I'll wait until Wednesday and see what she says on GMA.

What European fans? lol Are there still fans in Europe?
She could do some living room concerts in Europe. That's the only venue she would be capable of selling out here. They don't even play her on the radio here anymore. She is not menmtioned on TV. or in magazines.
Not a single word/promotion on the release of her live CD/DVD... no mention of her Vegas residency.
Every now and then I read something about Celine Dion's or Elton John's Vegas residency in magazines or newspapers but not a single mention of Shania here.
Her autobiography wasn't translated into other languages....
I guess she is not interested in being a global super star anymore.
Melanie I disagree with you there. If Shania announced a tour in Europe she could easily selll out arenas in Europe. I know as a fact she has tons and tons of fans in the u.k. and Germany and other countries still. People don't need to talk about an artist and she doesn't have to be in the news. If she announced a European tour I promise it would do great. And saying she could only doing living room concerts is quite understating the facts. You will be proven wrong once she tours Europe, She has tons and tons of fans still in Europe.

Yes, with new material and promotion she could easily sell out arenas, but not with the "Vegas on tour" show. The fans that still remain aren't the Facebook and Twitter generation. They are mostly old people and the few radio stations that still play her songs are radio stations that retirees listen to. She needs appearances on Euroopean TV shows. Her posts on social media won't sell out concert arenas.
It looks like they renamed the page. It's called news.shaniatwain.com now. I guess they understood that they failed when they named it TOUR because it made obvious what the "exciting news" are all about.

Too late now...
Plus they probably had to rename/re-address it so they can post all the tour info on tour.shaniatwain.com. I'm sure they are working on it now getting ready for Wednesday.

It's a tour! Here are the "unofficial" cities and dates. Click to enlarge. ("Shania Twain US" on Facebook found the graphic somewhere.)
Since there isn't an official Fan Club anymore, I'm not sure how that presale works. It might be everyone on the ShaniaTwain.com mailing list.
I wonder if the reason the dates on this don't make sense is maybe because she was supposed to the promo stuff last week before the special on ABC aired but the weather was so bad and flights were cancelled that they had to push things back. Kind of makes sense if you think about it. The Eastern coast was shut down hard because of all the snow. Maybe that is why she couldn't promote like she wanted to. The weather.
Shania Twain seems set to stride the stage at equestrian park
By Lynn Saxberg | Ottawa Citizen | March 2, 2015
Is Shania Twain coming to Ottawa?
The country diva is on a media blitz this week, dropping hints that she’s set to make a big announcement on Wednesday. Speculation is that she will be announcing a major tour, her first in more than a decade.
At the same time, Wesley Clover Parks, the redeveloped Corkstown Road facility formerly known as the Nepean National Equestrian Park, is holding a media conference on Wednesday to make a major concert announcement.
Considering the timing, and Shania’s lifelong love of all things horsey, a huge outdoor show at the equestrian centre looks like a sure bet this summer. If confirmed, it would be Twain’s first Ottawa appearance since 2003.
For Twain, who’s sold more than 75 million albums and is considered the biggest-selling country female artist in history, the expected tour will be the centrepiece of a long-anticipated comeback. Twain hasn’t released a new album since 2002’s Up!, but she has been performing in recent years. A two-year residency at Las Vegas’s Caesar Palace wrapped up in December.
By all accounts, the Vegas show, Shania: Still The One, was a lavish affair, complete with two trained horses, a flying motorcycle, a campfire, a snowstorm and plenty of hits, including You’re Still the One, That Don’t Impress Me Much and Man! I Feel Like a Woman, to name a few. Highlights from the show were broadcast as a primetime television special on Feb. 28 that drew an estimated 2.5 million viewers. The production is also the subject of Twain’s new live CD/DVD package, also titled Shania: Still The One Live From Vegas, in stores March 2, her first new product since a 2004 greatest hits album.
Despite the blitz, there are no guarantees that Twain will be able to recapture her share of the country market. Although country is hot right now, it’s attracting a new generation of fans who are going for bro-country artists like Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan and Brad Paisley and pumped-up songs about girls, trucks and partying. It may be a challenge for Twain, a mom who turns 50 this year, to break into the new-country boys club with her anthems of female empowerment.
But if she can do it anywhere, it will be on home turf. Raised in Timmins, Twain overcame the odds to become the Juno-winning darling of the Canadian industry, earning multiple double-diamond certification for album sales of more than two million copies. She’s a member of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, Canada’s Walk of Fame and received the Order of Canada.
Her second album, The Woman in Me, which came out 20 years ago, first rocked the country world with a sassy mix of upbeat country and pop-rock. It was co-written and produced by her then-new husband, hit-making rock producer Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange, a reclusive genius who was better known for his work with acts like AC/DC, Def Leppard and Bryan Adams.
Twain’s next two albums, 1997’s Come on Over and 2002’s Up!, both produced by Lange, were also hugely successful. The couple made their home in a castle in Switzerland.
In 2001, Twain and Lange had a boy they named Eja. A few years later, though, they divorced after Lange allegedly had an affair with Twain’s best friend. In a soap-opera-like twist, Twain later married the ex-friend’s ex-husband.
In her 2011 memoir, From This Moment On, Twain describes falling into a depression after her divorce. She developed a condition called dysphonia, a disorder of the voice. In her case, she believed stress and anxiety caused the muscles around her vocal chords to tighten. She underwent therapy to treat it, and was in top form throughout the Vegas run.
On a break from Sin City, Twain tested the comeback waters last summer with two sold-out, outdoor concerts at the Calgary Stampede and one in P.E.I. Although she has yet to release a new studio album, Twain told the Calgary Herald last year that she’s writing all the time. “I’ll be in the studio as soon as I can get my ducks in a row,” she said.
I still don't understand the purpose of even doing a mini tour now. She has no new material and is living off the past. To generate more excitement and interest she needs new material. I know there will be some who just want to see her live but it just seems totally odd to keep living off your old songs that Mutt and you created together. Sure everyone loves hearing the old songs on tour but with a mixture of new exciting material. I personally can't get excited about any tour she does now with no new material. That is my opinion.

I agree. I'm not excited about the tour but I'll go to her concert here in Atlanta. What the heck.

yea i probably would go too if my city was one of the cities on the schedule lol but it isn't on that so called fake list lol But we need a whole album of new songs.
Honestly, I would love to see her on tour where she performs some of her older songs that she kind of breezed over. When I saw her on the Up Tour, she did MAYBE four songs - Up, Getcha, Pretty Face, and maybe Forever and For Always - from the album. She was promoting a 19-track album and only performed a few of the songs. I'd like to hear some of the other stuff from Up - maybe Nah, Thank You Baby, Jealous, When You Kiss Me, etc. She could do an exciting tour with her old material IMO, it would just have to be different from her Up Tour and the Vegas show.

you are kidding me right? you would rather her perform old songs that we have heard thousands of times over whether on tv or live performances than some new exciting material? You are in the minority i would say but you are entitled to that opinion. We all love to hear some of our favorite songs of Shania but not a whole tour of it lol The majority of people want new songs to learn and listen to and get excited about. This is the same reason i was not excited about the Vegas show at all. She is living off the past and not moving forward but that is her choice and i accepted that long ago. I was in Vegas a few times since she played there and i went to see her once and it was a good but once is enough. As a fan i am tired of her living off her old songs. She should of moved on long ago but i accepted that she wouldn't a few years ago. Her last studio album was when she was 37 years old. She will be 51 by the time she releases new music. Oh well i guess as a fan i just wanted her to prove she can do it on her own and not wait over a decade to even start anything. We will see what happens but not looking forward to this so called exciting news unless it was a new album.
I really think that if she'll go out on tour she MUST sing songs she never sang before to entertain her fans again. Three are lots of songs from "Up!" She never performed during her last tour 11 years ago. Plenty of material we never heard live
I agree. I've always dreamt she would diversify her shows. When I was younger, lived with my parents and watched Shania's DVDs a lot even my mother said that they look like different shows because of her outfits but the songs are like the same. Now that I became older and see Shania with more criticism from my side, I agree with my mother. She has a lot of great songs she has never performed live.

Would I like to hear new material? Yes. Is she going to release new material before she tours again? Absolutely not. But she has a pretty extensive back catalog she could use to change up her act. It's great to want new material, and I certainly do, but I'm not holding my breath. Plus I was 11(?) when she toured last. It would be really gravy to see her as an adult.

She is very lazy when it comes to any kind of changes...be it setlist changes or outfit changes.
So I don't have high expectations for this tour. Always the same outfits, always the same hairstyle. I'm sick of seeing this same pink blouse and pink boots for the last two years. Must be really hard to try on a different outfit.
I just noticed something. The countdown clock on the splash page is wrong. It's almost 6:00pm ET and the countdown is at T-minus 15 hours. It should say 13 hours because "Good Morning America" starts at 7:00am ET. So the countdown clock is 2 hours off.
Personally, I believe this tour is a way for Shania to see how well the public responds to a comeback. A lot of older artists find it very difficult to get any radio stations to play new music. Look at Garth and Reba for example. They both have/had new music out and you didn't hear it very often on the radio. At least I know that I didn't. Plus digital downloads are a huge part of the music industry and these older artists didn't have that to worry about when they were in their prime. The game has completely changed, so it's important that a well thought out plan is established to get Shania's name back out there and expose her to the younger generation. While I think she would do better with new music as opposed to older music if she goes on tour, I think it's a strategic move on her part. That's why this CD/DVD was released, an ABC televised special of her performance was aired, and now all the hype regarding "BIG News." She's building momentum & hopefully this all leads to a new album, but it's been nearly 13 years since she released a full length album of new material. Only time will tell.
Just saw that short clip she posted on Facebook and I'm positively surprised that she is not freshly botoxed for her TV appearances. Nice to see that she has more facial expression and is able to raise her eyebrows again.
