I wonder if Shania will end up getting on a remix of this song if it gets any success, like a “Hole in the Bottle” part 2

Breland on TikTok. He talks about his new song "Natural" coming out June 14 and says it has a Shania Twain feel to it. Sounds a little like MIFLAW.

OK, I'm sorry but your comment is really judgemental and rather idiotic. Here is why. Firstly, of all, asking a Celebrity or any one famous to get involved in highly personal matter is ridiculous. Yes, i know it may help get the word out there. But what did you want Shania to do. Can you imagine how uncomfortable she maybe felt? What if the girl was kidnapped and Shania said too much or the wrong thing and that led to her Captor doing something rash? You get where i'm going with this? Now, fortunatley she came back home and hopefully was alright, but it's a really weird thing to do and if I was Shania i would of done the exact same thing. What did yo expect, for her to write a song?  Unbelievable..SMH

Because she's not the F#cking authorities and a lot of things can go wrong 2. she doesn't know the family 3. She doesn't know if the girl was kidnapped or what..what if that added exposure and whoever kidnapped her ended up killing her because Shania was on TV and he felt like too many people knew - it's all hypothetical but at that time - no one knew- so leave it to the authorities. If a complete stranger asked me to do the same thing i would feel kind of weird about it wouldn't you?

Yeah i'm sure she will i'm sure no one has ever asked her to listen to any of their recordings and i'm sure she loves it and has the time.....

I assume Shania is headed back to Switzerland this week for the Montreux Jazz Festival, July 1-16. We'll see.

Mirko Manfredi (one of Shania and Fred's friends) is at the Montreux Jazz Festival. I bet Shania, Fred and Eja are too. Mirko is attending the A-ha concert tonight and tagged Eja and Fred in one of his Instagram Stories.

This is from Shania's BMI catalog. Breland had to give Shania and Mutt PRS (performing rights royalties) credit for his song "Natural" since it sounds similar to "MIFLIAW". Shania and Mutt didn't actually write "Natural"'.

Carly Pearce Says She Would Love to Collaborate With Shania Twain: ‘Let’s Go!’

Carly Pearce tells 'Billboard' about working with Dolly Parton, her dream collaboration and more.

By Jessica Nicholson | Billboard | August 11, 2022

Reigning ACM female artist of the year Carly Pearce will again host the ACM Honors at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Aug. 24, and recently discussed the event with Billboard‘s Tetris Kelly.

One of the topics of the chat was Shania Twain, who will be honored with the ACM Poet’s Award. Asked whether a collaboration between Pearce and Twain could be in the works, Pearce responded that she is more than ready for a potential collab. “I would die, I would die. I would love it!” she says. “Shania, let’s go!”

Pearce also talked her history working with country music legend Dolly Parton, who surprised Pearce with an invitation in June of last year to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Prior to landing a record deal and earning her breakthrough hit with “Every Little Thing,” Pearce had worked at Dolly Parton’s Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

“She calls me her little Dollywood girl, and I just die every time she says it to me,” Pearce tells Kelly. “She’s just, to me, the epitome of class and a true businesswoman, a true artist. She’s a true fairy godmother.”

During the interview, Pearce also discussed her approach to songwriting following the success of her album 29: Written in Stone, which was nominated earlier this year for an ACM Award for album of the year.

29 was such a pivotal record and such a pivotal moment for me and my career, but also as a person, so I’m taking some time just to really make sure that this next transition of where I’m at is reflective of actually what’s going in my life,” Pearce says. “So I’m getting some stuff that I’m really excited about.”

As TikTok becomes an increasingly critical component of many artists’ marketing plans, while some musicians have embraced it, while others aren’t so sure of it. Pearce commented on her own approach to utilizing social media.

“I try to approach everything in my career authentically, so I feel like if somebody doesn’t want to do that, don’t do it. But if you can find  your own version of it, I certainly steer away from certain TikTok or things that other people are doing just ’cause that doesn’t feel real to me. But slapping my band in the face with a tortilla feels real to me, so I’ll do that,” she said with a laugh.

When asked whether she thinks about where her music lands each week on the Billboard charts, Pearce responded, “Oh, yeah. And if they say they don’t, they lyin’. We all want to win. We wouldn’t be in this business if we weren’t.”

Why Shania Twain Is So Iconic 🤠✨

By Carlyn Warren | With The Band | August 18, 2022

If you’re anything like us, the opening notes to “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” make you feel like you can take on the world! Shania Twain has empowered women and men for decades and never fails to bring that fierceness that we all love. Shania quickly became a household name in the 1990s and has continued her legacy through the years. We recently watched Shania’s new Netflix documentary, Not Just A Girl, and we are even more obsessed with her than ever! Here are some reasons why Shania will always be the Queen of Country Pop!

From a young age, Shania had always wanted to be a singer and was writing and recording demos long before she made it to Nashville.

However, her parents died in a tragic car accident when she was 22 years old. She was left to care for her siblings and soon realized that becoming a singer at a resort was the best way to do so.

She didn’t let this hardship define her and finally signed a record deal a few years later. Unfortunately, this was not the end of Shania’s tragedies. Later in her life, with an established career, Shania found herself in some pretty low lows after releasing her third album, Up!. Shania was unfortunately diagnosed with Lyme disease, which caused changes in her singing voice. During her health crisis, Shania also went through a divorce. Amidst all of these heartaches, Shania picked herself up and never let these challenges hold her back. Those close to her call her a “sledgehammer” because no matter what, Shania will always bounce back stronger and in the best outfit! 💪

Let’s go, girls! One thing that Shania has always included in her songwriting and many other aspects of her career is her message of female empowerment! Being a woman in country music, she found herself in a male-dominated genre. Shania told herself that she had to work three times as hard to succeed, and that’s what she did.

Shania said of her country music breakthrough, “[t]o be relentless was the only way.” Not only has Shania inspired us through her journey but through her music as well. With hits like “Man! I Feel Like A Woman”, “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” and “Any Man of Mine,” Shania has been proving that girls have been in charge since long before Beyoncé confirmed that they run the world. Shania was a feminist songwriter during a time when these ideas weren’t common in mainstream music, AND she did it in a male-dominated genre. 🤠

You can’t talk about Shania without talking about fashion! From leopard print to glitter, Shania is not afraid of a bold fashion look. She can wear short skirts and men’s shirts and make it one of the most iconic music looks ever. Shania’s influences in music and fashion vary across different genres, including Dolly Parton, Elton John, and Pat Benatar. With her love for glitz and glamour as well as a Rock ‘N Roll edge, Shania has proved time and again that she can pull off almost any outfit. She loves the drama of fashion, and we live for it every single time!! 💃

Being the absolute boss she is, Shania has been involved in almost every aspect of her career since the beginning. Shania is someone who knows what she wants and never does anything without a strong vision. Since the 90s, Shania has done creative direction and editing for her music videos.

It doesn’t just stop there; Shania does everything from staging, content ideas, choreography, set design, and musicality for her live shows. For her recent Las Vegas residency, “Let’s Go!”, Shania presented the entire show song by song to her production team while planning the residency. Shania keeps inspiring us and our creativity, and we can’t wait to see what her next project is! 🎨

Shania can genuinely do it all, including making music that breaks norms and transcends across genres. One of the things that shot her to superstardom was how she so effortlessly blended the country and pop genres.

Growing up, Shania listened to everything from Tanya Tucker to Stevie Wonder, and one of her earliest demos is her singing Pat Benatar’s “Hit Me With Your Best Shot.” However, Shania cites Dolly Parton as her primary influence in making both types of music. Shania widened the borders of country music with a sound that can still be heard in the genre today! 🎸

Shania is an inspiration to so many of our favorite artists, including everyone from Avril Lavigne, Kelsea Ballerini, Orville Peck, Post Malone, Twenty One Pilots, and so many more. Taylor Swift even made a TikTok about Shania crossing over from country to pop and giving Taylor the confidence to do so.

Harry Styles’ also revealed that his main influence in music and fashion is Shania and then shared the stage with her in his incredible Coachella performance in April 2022. Shania will continue to inspire many generations of artists and fans! 💗

How Kelsea Ballerini Cut Loose on Subject to Change

By Marissa R. Moss | Vulture | September 26, 2022

...The jury’s still out on whether Ballerini will get the same kind of penguin clap awarded to male country stars who dare to add a shadow of fiddle to a radio single and are instantly pegged as the genre’s salvation, but Ballerini is on the road to her proper due as one of Nashville’s finest pop-country songwriters (and now also a published poet). The wordsmith that she is, we decided to talk through some lyrics from a few of her favorite classic country songs — and a few from Subject to Change — on how they set the album’s tone and inspired her to both look inward and cut loose.

The Lyric That Set the Unapologetic Tone of Subject to Change

No inhibitions, make no conditions / Get a little outta line / I ain’t gonna act politically correct / I only wanna have a good time “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!,” Shania Twain

Unapologetic is exactly the word I would use. Like, cursing on a record was a choice I have never made before. And it was a choice I made for this record (“When you get married that young, you got a lotta sh*t you gotta get through,” she sings on “Doin’ My Best”), and it was just unapologetic. I feel like Shania has continued to do that in her career in so many ways, whether it’s her fashion choices, the videos she makes, or owning herself as a woman. She’s become a mentor to me and just is so wise. The other day after the ACM Honors, I sat on her balcony till 2 a.m. drinking wine and picking her brain, and I was in awe because she’s been through so much and is so resilient. And even in her resilience she still pushes, and that to me is the making of an icon.

Subject To Change is a FANTASTIC album! I love it!!!!

The 100 Greatest Karaoke Songs of All Time: Staff List

The big ballads, perennial party-starters and singular sing-alongs guaranteed to make any karaoke night a classic.

By Billboard Staff | October 5, 2022

1. Shania Twain, "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" (1998)

Type: Crowd-Pleaser

Ideal Circumstances: You don’t need to be in Nashville to perform this country classic. It’s a crossover smash in every sense of the word – country-to-pop crossover, young-to-old crossover and, as Harry Styles proved at Coachella, it isn’t just reserved for the ladies either. (Honestly, it might be even more fun to see a guy tackle it.) So break out your men’s shirts and short skirts and let it all hang out — because, after all, the best thing about doing karaoke is the prerogative to have a little fun.

That One Part: The crowd will know exactly what kind of party they’re in for the minute they hear those first three words: “Let’s go, girls.” – K.A.

The Experts Say: “That’s always a girl-empowerment song that gets the room going. And the best is when a drunk guy sings that song. It’s just the best entertainment.” — Kiki Park

“There’s what I call the “cool-guy copout,” which is where a guy’s too cool, but his ego tells him, “I need to at least sing something.” So, he’ll choose a song ironically, like ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” But the ends sort of justify the means because at the end of that song, everybody’s with him. They’re like, “All right, we get it. You’ve destroyed your ego to a degree, as best as you can, despite doing it in more of a cop-out way.” — Joey Park

“I think it’s a great song. I think that people, in particular girls, love to sing that song. But it doesn’t get enough play, and I’m just like, why? When somebody does sing it, I’m always like, ‘I can’t wait to hear that.'” — KJ Danny

Kelsea Ballerini Gets Real About Being ‘Subject to Change,’ Going From ‘Dibs’ to Divorce and Beyond, and Channeling Shania

By Chris Willman | Variety | October 15, 2022

Kelsea Ballerini walks into the penthouse suite of a West Hollywood hotel bearing a big smile, a full bottle of wine and two glasses, and this is immediately a good sign for an interview. She has a lot to toast, having just released a well-reviewed album, “Subject to Change,” and being about to play a venue she’s dreamed of headlining, L.A.’s Greek Theatre. Ballerini is coming off a previous album cycle in which she had a No. 2 country hit with “Hole in the Bottle” and a No. 1 with “Half of My Hometown,” which picked up a couple of CMA Awards. But the wine may not be for purely celebratory purposes. “Interviews make me nervous,” she admits, settling in and pouring.

That’s probably true more now than when she was promoting her previous three albums. There’s the fact that she recently revealed she was getting divorced, something that didn’t go public until she had already done her first round of press for the new album. No one would mistake “Subject to Change” for a purely confessional album at this stage in her life — not with a first single like the upbeat, crush-celebrating “Heartfirst,” or a girls-night-out anthem like “You’re Drunk, Go Home,” with guests Kelly Clarkson and Carly Pearce. But there’s practically a whole interview’s worth of material just in the album’s autobiographical high point, “Doin’ My Best,” which covers everything from her most regretted tweets to marital counseling to the cessation of her friendship with one-time duet partner Halsey. It’s an interesting time to be, and to talk about being Kelsea Ballerini, sharing a little about fresh personal pain while still putting on the most ebullient show in country and making that feel honest, too.

What was clear in her Greek show was that if, man, you feel like seeing and hearing a woman navigate modern country, Ballerini is a worthy successor to her idol, Shania Twain, in many ways. That’s not just because she can rock a catsuit, among other costume changes, but because of her ability to embody pure pop and pure Nashville and not even have you thinking about all the gradations in-between, at least not till you sit down for a conversation like this.

And while the singer doesn’t devote a lot of time in her show to taking the audience through the tougher stuff she may be going through, Ballerini did keep it real when she got to the sing-along ballad that closes her new album, “What I Have,” changing a key line in the chorus from “I got a roof over my head, I got a warm body in bed” to “I got myself in my own bed.” Dibs on self-ownership, there.

(The following interview has been edited for space and clarity.)

You were just on with “CBS Mornings” with Anthony Mason, who is a champion of country music, and he talked with you very gently about what you’re going through personally…

I adore him. We had a really in-depth conversation about my book when it came out, and I had never met him before. In the book I talked about an eating disorder, and witnessing a school shooting when I was in high school, and my parents divorcing and a ton of stuff. I was very nervous about talking about it, and he handled it with such kid gloves. So I was like, all right, I can do it again.

Well, here is something that Anthony Mason didn’t ask. It has been weighing heavy on my mind, because it seems no one else has asked you this. I feel like it’s the elephant in the room…

Oh, God. I’m nervous.

It has to do with a song on your new album, “I Can’t Help Myself.” It seems like such a deliberate Shania homage. Or am I just imagining that?

[Relieved.] Of course it was! I’ve never done a modulation before. I’ve never done a song in two keys. That’s a very ‘90s country thing. But then, obviously the whole record is inspired by ‘90s music, specifically women in country. And so we wrote in the modulation and we were trying to figure out a way for the pre-chorus to lift into it. And we were like, “Guys, how do we not obviously step on Shania and Mutt and what they did, but pay homage to what they did?” So we took every page out of their book. And Shania’s my queen. Everyone knows it. My God, what an incredible artist. And the more I get to know her, the more I’m like, “Of course you’re Shania Twain. You couldn’t be cooler.”

You did a salute to her on the “ACM Honors” show not too long ago, including wearing her dress from one of her seminal videos.

When they asked me to honor her, I was like, “How do we do this bigger?” And so the dress happened, but then also, I was like, “If I’m gonna do ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman,’ I want her Vegas dancers shirtless on the stage of the Ryman. That’s what she did for country — she pushed every boundary, and that needs to be recognized. Because people still are like [about Ballerini’s performance] “Oh my God, they didn’t have shirts on.” I’m like, “Yeah, and they didn’t in the ‘90s either. Calm down!”

You’ve said you and Shania had a long, personal, late-night talk after that filming.

Yeah, I’ve known her for a couple years now, and we’ve had a really beautiful mentor -mentee relationship. This conversation was before the news came out about what I’m going through [with the divorce], but I was experiencing it and I needed advice. So we had a big celebration dinner with both of our teams and gave cheers for her award, and then I sat on her hotel room balcony for a couple of hours and she just was really honest and open and warm and lovely. Right now, I have fewer artist friendships than I’ve ever had, but the ones that I do have are actual genuine friendships. I put her in that category.

And Shania’s advice to you was not “Take 15 years off, like I did, kid”?

No, it wasn’t. Her advice was, “You owe people music, and that’s it.”
