The nominees for the 2016 CMA Awards on November 2 were announced this morning. The question is will Shania be there to promote the lead single from her new album?
Eric Church, Maren Morris, Chris Stapleton Top Nominees for 2016 CMA Awards
By ABC News | August 31, 2016
Nominees for the 50th Annual CMA Awards were announced live today on “Good Morning America” and Eric Church, Maren Morris and Chris Stapleton top the list of nominees with five nominations each.
Morris's five nominations tie her with only three other musicians for five CMA Award nominations in a debut year by a female artist, while Stapleton's nominations this year include his first for Entertainer of the Year.
Church’s five nominations give him a total of 22 nominations since his first in 2011 for New Artist of the Year.
The nominees in the 12 CMA Awards categories were announced from the stage of Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House by country music stars Dierks Bentley, a 20-time nominee and two-time winner, Keith Urban, who has been a nominee every year since 2004 and Cam, who is nominated in two categories for "Burning House," the hit song from her debut album "Welcome to Cam Country."
"It is really strong, the diversity of the artists this year is excellent," Urban said while revealing the full list of nominees. "And there’s a good mix of everybody in here so I think it’s going to be an amazing CMAs this year."
Bentley, Urban and fellow singer Carrie Underwood received four nominations each. Tim McGraw received three nominations for trophies that will be handed out on Nov. 2.
Underwood and Brad Paisley will co-host the show live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The show begins at 8 p.m., ET, on ABC.
