Very good news. I still find it funny how Shania can commit to a concert date in April of 2017 and announce it on social media with no problem at all, but she still cant tell anyone what day, month, or year her new album will be out or even the slightest hint about the new music.

AXS TV broadcast the music festival from 2013-2015 but it did not air the 3-day event this year. Hopefully it will return to TV next year.

She may not be announcing due to her contract. They may have a stipulation as to how they want it done....

Tommy I remember you saying when Shania sings live She sounds bad 90% of the time do you still stand by that or did I misread what you wrote? In my honest opinion she sounds pretty good live or in the studio.

I said her voice sounded strange at her Rock This Country concert here in Atlanta. Something just seemed off that night. Overall, I like how her voice sounds live.

Shania Twain to make her debut at Stagecoach, joins Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Eric Church

By Robin Leach | Las Vegas Review-Journal | February 28, 2017

Coachella at Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, near Palm Springs runs the weekends of April 14 and 21, with Lady Gaga replacing Beyonce, who is pregnant with twins, but the rock festival then becomes a honkytonk dance field with former Caesars Palace headliner Shania Twain making her debut there for the Stagecoach country music festival April 28-30.

The annual Stagecoach boasts star-studded concerts, barbecues and a Ferris wheel for marriage proposals. Knowing that Shania’s new album is based on her horrible divorce from former producer and husband Robert “Mutt” Lange, who ran off with her best friend, it should be a perfect place to play it for the popular sunset marriage yes-no site.

2017 ACM Awards at T-Mobile Arena co-hosts Dierks Bentley and Luke Bryan, both back for a second consecutive year at the awards, and regular Las Vegas headliners Carrie Underwood, Eric Church and Kenny Chesney join Shania over the outdoor country music festival and party weekend.

What kind of show do you think she'll put on? A show like the RTC tour or something more like Chicago back in 2003?

Probably like Chicago. Stagecoach will be outdoors (like Chicago and PEI) and there isn't as much technical and video/lighting production at outside venues.

Guide To The 2017 Stagecoach Music Festival

Shania Twain

Shania Twain will return to the stage as the headliner for Saturday night’s big performance. As country music royalty, this Canadian country queen has had a long and storied career in the business. Although she hasn’t put out a new album since 2015 (wrong!), Twain continues to be a major draw for fans.

Sounds so exciting! Think we can take this as a confirmation that something's about to happen soon....

Shania Twain launching at Stagecoach has programmer excited about country bill

By Bruce Fessier | The Desert Sun | April 10, 2017

A limited number of Coachella tickets will become available exclusively to Coachella Valley residents Wednesday at the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens. But some rockers who have grown up with Coachella might want to avoid the lines and check out Stagecoach: California’s Country Music Festival at the same Empire Polo Club.

Stacy Vee, who books the Stagecoach lineup for the Los Angeles-based Goldenvoice company, grew up with Coachella, helping that festival become the largest in America, until company president and CEO Paul Tollett tabbed her in 2015 to further redefine California country as his programming successor at Stagecoach.

This year, besides modern country headliners Dierks Bentley, Shania Twain and Kenny Chesney April 28-30, respectively, and new sensations such as Maren Morris, Bailey Bryan and Nikki Lane, the lineup features such familiar roots rockers as Los Lobos, the Blasters and John Doe of the punk band, X; Southern rockers .38 Special and the Cadillac Three, ‘60s rockers Tommy James and the Shondells and the Zombies, and three acts that have long straddled, and blurred the line between rock and country: Willie Nelson, Wynonna and the Big Noise, and the legendary Jerry Lee Lewis.

A tattooed 27-year-old artist with a rock hit, Elle King of “Ex’s and Oh’s” fame, also is going California country at Stagecoach.

And those are just some of the out-of-the-box acts booked for this 11th annual Stagecoach. Vee talked about the lineup recently with The Desert Sun. Here’s an Q&A of that chat:

THE DESERT SUN: So, are you coming out here for Coachella or just Stagecoach?

STACY VEE: No, man, I’m out there for the whole month with the rest of the Goldenvoice crew. I’m not going to let everybody else have all the fun.

Well, I don’t know how big of a convert you are to country music. Some people go all the way and turn their backs on their rock roots.

No. I think that’s apparent in the way the Stagecoach lineup looks. We have a lot of other stuff going on. It truly is the Coachella of country music festival. I was Paul Tollett’s assistant for 13 years, so I’ve learned everything I know from Paul T. I execute and make decisions based on what would Paul T do.

How has that manifested more this year than last year?

Honestly, I think we have the most eclectic lineup to date. A very obvious way is Shania Twain. Something Paul Tollett likes to do is throw curveballs at people, to surprise people, and I think grabbing Shania and putting her as the headliner at Stagecoach on Saturday night was something a lot of people weren’t expecting.

A lot of people thought she was retired.

Exactly. But we work really hard to make the Stagecoach poster unlike any other country music poster in the United States. We really want to go above and beyond and push the boundaries and get creative, and I think we really did that this year.

Did you have to talk her out of retirement?

Oh, no! Not whatsoever. She’s got some things brewing right now. I think Stagecoach is a kickoff point for her. I can’t really give away too much, but Stagecoach is just one piece in a big plan for her.

I know Paul T often starts talking to bands years before they wind up on a lineup.

Correct. And we’ve been talking to Shania for a long time. Well over a year. But this is the only show she’s announced in the entire world. They wanted to partner with us, being the premier country music festival and the biggest look a country artist could have.

So, was Stagecoach a piece of the puzzle or the kindling that started the fire? For example, Guns N’ Roses didn’t have plans to tour or do anything more with Slash until Paul started talking about a reunion. Then, after that, they toured. So I’m wondering about your role in Shania career revival.

She was already thinking about it. They came to us.

So you must have been pretty excited.

Are you kidding? To be able to have the exclusive world announcement on the number one-selling female artist of all time, and Stagecoach is her only live performance she has on the books? That is something so special and so exciting, and I’m so proud to be a part of it.

You’ve added some new acts since the lineup was announced. Can we talk about some of the recent additions?

Sure. Bailey Bryan is kind of exploding right now. Her agent turned us on to her and we just grabbed her. She’s going to be opening the Mane Stage. I was able to see her play live out at C2C Festival (Country to Country) this year in London. She’s an up-and-coming act. A lot of people should be paying attention. We get a lot of people wanting to play Stagecoach. We pick the best of the best and the artists who are opening the Mane Stage and other stages are tomorrow’s stars.

Finding country stars is different than finding indie or hip-hop stars. You find a lot of songwriters writing hits for others.

Absolutely. That’s a really good point and the thing is, it’s such a great community. They all write songs for each other and then perform songs together. You go back stage at these festivals and shows and they’re hanging out together in the hallways. They’re friends. Country music is such a wonderful, nurturing, super friendly environment.

And you have an industry in Nashville where the publishers are actually pro-active in finding new songwriters. So, do you go to publishers or how do you find the new talent?

Oh, man. There are a million ways. I attend a lot of country music festivals, like CMA Fest. I read a lot. I study news, I talk to artists and listen to what they’re listening to, and a lot of times I listen to music on Spotify and just go down rabbit holes. Like, I’ll listen to one artist and that will lead me to other artists and I’ll Google something. There’s really no one way. But, I do pay attention to a lot of songwriters, especially when songwriters choose to pursue careers of their own.

Were you attracted to Elle King after she recorded with Dierks Bentley or how did she get on the lineup?

She’s actually someone we’ve had our eye on. We were talking about having her last year. But when she did the song with Dierks (this year’s Grammy-nominated “It’s Different For Girls”), we were like, ‘Well, that seals the deal.’ She played in the Stadium at the CMA Festival last year with Dierks and she’s just been all over the country music space. Since Dierks is going to be playing this year, we just thought this was the right opportunity. I’m so glad we waited because I think she’s gained a lot of country music fans.

That brings up another trademark of Paul T. His festivals get these surprise appearances that generate so much excitement. Do you have anything planned in that regard?

Well, Elle and Dierks are playing on the same day at Stagecoach.

Are you teasing?

Just saying. And Los Angeles is right there, so you never know who is going to pop out. I mean, last year we had Snoop Dogg jump on with Sam Hunt, which is pretty amazing. You never know what we’ll have up our sleeves.

Could we see Steve Martin step in with the Steep Canyon Rangers?

He did play the show once before (with them). This year I think it’s just the Rangers. But we do have Kiefer Sutherland.

I saw him at Pappy and Harriet’s. He’s very good.

Oh, my God. He’s working so hard, and no special treatment. He’s out there grinding.

Another one that leaps out is the Hillbenders Present The Who’s Tommy.

Yeah! It’s just something I did some research (on). We need to take a little more time to allow for that, but it’s just what it says. It’s a bluegrass opry of the songs from “Tommy.”

The entire opera bluegrass style?

Well, as much as they can fit in the time allotted. They’re bending the show a little bit. I think they could have taken a little more time, but, at a country music festival, I’m giving them a full hour.

Most bands get 50 minutes?

It depends. Some baby bands get 30 minutes, 35, 40. It just depends. Usually 30 to 50 but usually the opener to the headliners gets 55 minutes to an hour.

And if Shania Twain decides to go 90 minutes you won’t complain?

I will be the last person to complain. I can tell you I will be in the middle of the pit dancing and having the best time. It’s going to be so much fun. And let’s not forget Willie Nelson and Jerry Lee Lewis. Talk about legends. I’m like, “When are you going to get to that?”

I was just talking about how there’s probably a lot more interest in Jerry Lee since Chuck Berry died. He was the last man standing from the Million Dollar Quartet (with Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins). Now he’s standing even taller.

I’ve always wanted to have Chuck, but I was talking with Clint Davis, who books the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. He had Jerry Lee and he said Jerry Lee lit that stage on fire! So, I’m like, that’s all I needed to hear. I had an offer out to Jerry Lee that same day. For Stagecoach, we had to have Jerry Lee at some point. We have to have these legends who paved the way for rock and country. So many genres can all trace back to guys like Chuck and Jerry. I feel it’s our duty to have them at Stagecoach.

It seems like you have more roots artists than in the past.

I would say so, absolutely. It’s because I come across so many of these artists and I’m just such a fan. I go to the Americana Festival in Nashville and we have that Stagecoach Spotlight Tour using Stagecoach as a launchpad or a place to end up. So, I see so many of these roots artists and I just want to do everything I can to help support them. So, I find them slots at Stagecoach.

A lot of these artists don’t really have a place in pop music anymore, like Tommy James and the Shondells. They’re kind of relegated to the nostalgia circuit.

I wouldn’t really call Tommy James part of the roots movement, but we have Tommy James and we have the Zombies. I think the game changer was when we had Don McLean a couple years ago. I was standing in the tent when people just starting running across the field into that tent to see him sing “American Pie.” Since then we’ve had Eric Burdon and these ‘60s rock artists. People just love them.

So is that becoming another component of California country: ’60s rock that doesn’t fit into other categories?

I don’t know. I couldn’t say it’s part of California country music. I just think it’s something fun we like to do at Stagecoach. It’s a curveball. I don’t think people would have ever seen Tommy James and the Shondells coming, but, when they saw it on the poster, I know for a fact everybody loved it.

***Shania will be performing on April 29 at approximately 9:00pm PT. It doesn't look like AXS TV will be airing the festival this year as they have in the past. However, the Coachella Music Festival is going on this weekend at the same venue (Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA) and fans can livestream the festival on Coachella's website and YouTube channel. Hopefully Stagecoach will do the same.

New Album in early Fall - New Music at Stagecoach Music Festival 4/29/17

Shania's new album will now be released in early Fall and she will perform a couple new songs at her Stagecoach Festival concert on April 29.

Top-selling country star Shania Twain preps for her Stagecoach debut

By Kelli Skye Fadroski | Orange County Register | April 18, 2017

It’s been 15 years since the last time country music singer-songwriter Shania Twain has dropped a new album. The now 51-year-old Queen of Country Pop and best-selling female country artist of all-time is more than ready to debut some new tunes during her first headlining turn at the 11th annual Stagecoach Country Music Festival in Indio on Saturday, April 29.

“I’m so excited because I’ve heard a lot about Stagecoach over all of these years and I really can’t believe that I’m only doing it now for the first time actually,” Twain said. “It’s never too late for firsts.”

Sandwiched in between headlining sets by Dierks Bentley and Kenny Chesney, Twain said she’s ready to bring it with her performance, which will undoubtedly include some of her biggest hits, such as “Any Man of Mine,” “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!,” “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “You’re Still the One.”

She’ll also be treating the Stagecoach crowd to a couple of her brand new songs off of her forthcoming, yet-to-be-titled release that’s due out in early fall. The record will be her first since 2002’s “Up!” and  marks the first time since she broke into the mainstream that she’s written and recorded without her now ex-husband and noted rock producer Robert “Mutt” Lange.

“This was an exercise in independence,” Twain said of the writing process. “I really just wanted to test myself and push my limits and face my fears. I haven’t worked alone in a really, really long time after all of those years of being partnered with Mutt professionally. It was a huge leap of courage for me to do this alone and I knew I was going to be carrying the weight of it alone, too. I just kept challenging myself and telling myself ‘OK, you’re going to write this album and we’ll find out what you’re made of these days’.”

A lot of the early writing and recording process was like therapy, Twain added since she and Lange, whom she married in 1993, finalized their divorce in 2010 after Twain found out he was allegedly having an affair with her best friend. In a crazy twist of fate, however, in 2011, Twain fell in love again and married Frédéric Thiébaud, the ex-husband of her former best friend.

It was a tumultuous, painful, embarrassing time emotionally and at the same time exciting, fresh and new, all of which Twain documents within the lyrical content for the new record. It wasn’t easy, she said, as she admitted to feeling scared, insecure and she experienced numerous bouts of self-doubt.

“It was tough at times,” she said. “Every single song was a nightmare because I was stressed about sharing it. It was a whole mix of feelings for me all the way around, but I’m so glad to be at the stage now where I’m ready to share it with the world. It’s a relief, actually. It was really scary, but it was also really therapeutic and I learned so much about myself and I thoroughly enjoyed it in the end because it ended up being an incredible experience.”

Songs like “Life’s About to Get Good” and “I’m Alright” are perfect examples of the highs and lows Twain experienced during the songwriting process.

“It wasn’t just about my divorce, but just the sadness and disappointment you feel and also how those feelings have evolved and almost become moments of celebration,” she explained. “The choruses in both of those songs are very celebratory and very happy. They’re optimistic. I love the contrast in those songs and this album overall is honest and touches on a lot of candid phrases and wordings of things, but at the same time it still takes me to a place where I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and that’s actually where I’m at right now.”

Though she’s always incorporated elements of rock and pop into her brand of country music, Twain decided not to set any parameters on herself in the studio this time around. She’s currently listening to a broad array of music from Twenty One Pilots, Drake, Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor to one of her 15-year-old son Eja’s favorite EDM artists, KSHMR and with her song “Light of My Life,” she said she drifted back to being 5 years old, sitting in her parents’ living room and listening to records by the Mamas & the Papas and the Beach Boys.

“I let the songwriting lead the way and let the stories go where they wanted to go,” she said. “I wanted to make sure I nurtured the authenticity and the acoustic elements in the album and I do basically 99.9 percent of all of the backing vocals and arranged all of them so they’re very organic and almost retro. I wanted to be true to my influences and to myself and stylistically it just ended up being very diverse from one song to the next. The theme of this record is really artistic independence.”

Though Twain largely disappeared from the spotlight in 2004, she later explained in her autobiography “From This Moment On,” which came out in 2011, that a specialist had discovered lesions on her vocal chords that required some rehabilitation. In 2012, she signed a deal to perform her show sell-out show Still the One at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace and in 2015 she embarked on her first tour in 11 years dubbed the Rock This Country tour. It was also originally billed as a farewell tour.

“I really loved being on tour and had the best time and it kind of ended too soon,” Twain said. She didn’t get to take the tour on an international run since she organized it around her son’s high school schedule. “I think as he gets older I will pick up where I left off and carry on and do more at some point,” she added.

Though she didn’t exactly indicate that a new album would mean a full-blown tour announcement would follow, she said the Rock This Country tour was an uplifting experience.

“It’s funny you’re bringing up the farewell tour because I felt like at that time maybe that was all I had left in me,” she said. “I really felt that way, but I was so energized by the tour and by the fans.  For the first time in my career, I really felt like it was easier and the fans really gave me more than ever before for some reason. “

Throughout her career, Twain has received countless awards and accolades including Grammy awards, Juno awards, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2011 and later this year she’ll get her own exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum in Nashville.

“It’s such a huge compliment,” she said. “It’s all part of the fun and it makes everything a little more real. A lot of times as things are happening in the moment, especially when you’re crazy busy, your schedule is nuts and you’re exhausted and working hard, you miss a lot of those moments as they’re happening because they’re just whizzing by you. So when you can go back and look at the star on the Walk of Fame or go to a museum and see your things, you can stop and reflect more. It’s almost like you take it in more at those moments than you did at the actual moment, so it’s as great for me as it is for fans.”

RE: Shania to perform at NEW MUSIC at Stagecoach Music Festival - April 29, 2017

Now the album is due out in early fall....no

Well, it's not totally a surprise the delay of the album. It has been clear for weeks now that a May release date wasn't goin' to happen with no announcement done and no album/single title yet.

Looking for the silver lining of it all, people will tape Stagecoach with their phones so we will have a glimpse of those two new songs she'll perform. I didn't understand if "Light of My Life" is a new song or not... we've got many song titles now.

I think a fall release is good, better sales. Based on the photo shoot something is coming soon?

New Album in early Fall - New Music at Stagecoach Music Festival 4/29/17

I cannot believe that she pushed the album release date out even further, once again. I'm not taking her word for it anymore. She has been stringing fans along for way too long and its not fair to the fans who have been patient with repeated announcements and promises of release dates.

Now we're looking at a October or November album release date. So I'm assuming TWO singles will be released by then.

Here are the titles of the seven singles that have been announced so far.

1. "Who's Gonna Be Your Girl?"
2. "Swinging With My Eyes Closed"
3. "We Got Something They Don't"
4. "Life's About To Get Good"
5. "Hard To Love"
6. "I'm Alright"
7. "Light Of My Life"

I think "Hard To Love" is a Matthew Koma song that Robin Leach got confused with Shanias.

Did Shania actually confirm that the album is coming out in early fall? The writer of the article might have made a mistake and meant late spring or early summer. Until the words come out of Shania's mouth, maybe the album will be earlier than the fall. I have a hard time believing that she will be performing new music at stagecoach in April, but not release the album until fall? That seems like a huge chunk of time between the new singles and the album release. Maybe the writer of the article got it wrong and she's planning on a late spring, early summer release?

What if SWMEC & LATGG will be available on iTunes at the end of her show at Stagecoach?

Early Fall makes more sense than late Spring or Summer as far as album sales, etc.. She'll probably release the 2 songs she's singing at Stagecoach ("Swinging With My Eyes Closed" and "Life's About To Get Good) over the next few months. She might release one right after Stagecoach.

So SWMEC or LATGG has to be the lead single. If those are the songs she's singing at Stagecoach, one of them must be the lead single off of the album. It doesn't make sense that she would sing those and then debut another song as the lead single. I would think that by now, she would also have the album named. She cant give an album title but she has disclosed at least 6 names of different songs that are on the album!

For us in Europe a very early morning. I really hope AXS TV has a live coverage of the event again this year. And most of all that Shania's team agreed to be part of that live broadcast.

I just looked at my DIRECTV on-screen program guide and AXS TV will NOT be broadcasting the festival this year. Hopefully it will be streamed live on YouTube.

It looks like fans are out of luck.  Somebody emailed Stagecoach to ask if it will be live-streamed on the internet and they said No.

I hope an album release at "end of Summer" means September. Would be better than August! Plus that would jive with the "early Fall" report last week. Fall begins September 22.

If she's gonna perform it Saturday why not release it around then? Regardless it will be interesting to see if it will be an upbeat dance sorta song. Not to be a downer but if it sounds anything like Today is your day I'll be disappointed
