I don' t think Shania expects or wants to be as succesful as she was 15 years ago.
I think she just wants to make music for her fans and people who have waited and have followed her even during these long 15 years.
During the Rolling Stone interview she gave back in February she said she knows the music industry has changed dramatically and music is listened in a very different way nowadays.
Plus, she won't be the only one not to sell tons of albums. Artists like Reba, Celine and others don't sell like they used to but they're still considered big stars and still have lots of fans.
I believe Shania's case won't be different. Maybe her "not diamond album" will make more noise because her past numbers are so huge and someone will definitely say she's done without Mutt.
I hope the album will sell well, the expectations are very high...

We have to admit that Mutt's genius production have been very helpful to Shania's music career in the late 90's and early 2000. Shania conquered the world in these periods. The credits should be for both of them as they were really match in heaven. No question about that. But we couldn't blame current fans to compare today in the past. This is just I think very normal. We are now in 2017, we just need to embrace the change and move forward. We've waited this for so long and I think our love for Shania shall prevail whatever the new material shall go through.
But what I am expecting for Shania Now is to get more fans in this generation. Her strategy of having duets with Kelsea Ballerini and Nick Jonas at Stagecoach is a good starting point of widening her reached. LATGG is just pretty new and I think it would do modest in the charts globally.

As I said before, the true telling of "LATGG" will be when next week's Billboard Hot Country Songs chart comes out which is based on sales, airplay and streaming. If the song debuts in the 30s I really think the song is in trouble and honestly don't see it climbing up the chart. Radio stations that have had the song since last Thursday have only played the song 2 or 3 times a day. That tells you something right there. Radio station music directors are smart. They know a hit when they hear it and will play a song over and over again. This is not the case with "LATGG". And I realize the song was just added to radio. But if a song is a true hit, they are usually put on high rotation on Day 1.

***I am not bashing Shania or the song. I'm just telling it straight forward.

As of today, "LATGG" isn't even on the Top 50 Mediabase Country airplay chart any more. Radio stations are not playing the song. Not good!

Not enough promotion, Also why on earth would she let her son pick the first single?  She hasn't even been to Canada to promote it.

How is she supposed to promote it? How do you think would be the most beneficial? I don't know if talk shows are as much the answer anymore, because the same questions get repeated. They talk about her divorce, about the album and how she decided not to be sad, it's the same repetitive thing. So how do you think would be the best promotion? Genuine question. Also, she has said it time and time again. She doesn't care about being at the top, she's doing it for herself.

And because it's her son? He's a big part of her life. It's the first album she's released basically since he was born (I know he was a couple months old when up! came out but obviously at that young, he wasn't involved since most of it if not all of it was done before she had him) so it's probably a big thing for him and her. The woman is set for life. She's not doing it to reach the top of the charts again. I think you guys are far too critical. Maybe the fear of it becoming a huge success and then having to tour to promote it scares her. We have waited so long for this, and it's almost like you guys are proud that it's not toping the charts so you can do the whole "I told you so" type deal. It's still early, maybe it will gain popularity throughout the summer. Of course we want it to succeed, but just be happy she released something.

She failed to make the dutch and Uk charts. Very sad to see the song flop, the Thursday release was very stupid because those sales counted towards last weeks charts. So basically she lost that day of sales for this weeks charts.

Don't care about charts. I blast LATGG wherever I go! I love it. I went through a divorce a couple years back and I'm still healing from it. This song resonates with me to the bones and I don't care if nobody else likes it. I'm grateful for the song and I could give a rats ass if it flops. Stop worruing about charts and start enjoying the work we waited 15 years for. ✌🏼

I agree with Shaniafan. Its almost like some (important) people on here are proud if its not doing well with the "I told you so" type of attitude. Yep we get it, you don't like the song.

Oh and one more thing. Ive heard "why would she release something like this to COUNTRY radio." "Why this?" "Why that?" I'm proud of the fact she's still taking huge chances. Yeah, the single might not be for country radio at all but she released it anyway. I'm sure she well knew. That's so badass, it makes me love her even more. Middle finger in the aye-ah bitches! 😘

It's not about the "I told you so" attitude and some of us not liking the song. It's about making a 15-year comeback with a song that is struggling big time to gain any traction or airplay. That's a huge problem if you ask me. Shania needed to come out with a bang to draw "general" interest in her music again. I'm sure there are other songs on the album that would've been more appealing to the general Country music fan and more "radio friendly" that could've been used as the lead single. If not, well, that's even a bigger problem.

Found this on Facebook:

Hello guys! This time I bring some alternative versions of Life's About To Get Good that I made just for fun (I really LOVE having versions of a song)!

No, they aren't remixes, it's just the original song with different melodies. Some notes are changed and then the key is different, changing somehow the "genre" of the song.

There are 3: Adventure Version, Dramatic Version (the one I'm sharing here), and Oriental Version (for us Up! Blue lovers haha). You can check the other two on my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpjAH92TVg4hOc_9wNQbxhQ

I do agree with you that I personally really like this song and us fans should be happy to see some new songs and an album being released. But it's more that I would have liked it for her to do well, can imagine that this might be quite a bummer for Shania and her team. But I'm sure the album will do well and 'swinging' sounded promising. No way but up from here!

The main problem here is there's almost no promotion at all. Since day one her team hasn't done anything to promote her return after 15 years and now the thing isn't changing.
She's not even been in Canada or in Europe to promote the single.
Maybe she'll do it in July or in August but it could be too late, if only for the single to chart

After the first chorus when she sings "the longer my tears fell..." there are background vocals. The lyrics are all over the internet but they never include this part. I thought it might be "hurts to love you baby" but I keep hearing different things. Any ideas?

I have requested the song numerous times, but the DJs clearly had no intention of playing the song. To be fair, they were the same way when I requested songs during the UP! Years. They have always had a problem with her. These radio stations play the same cookie cutter songs from the same 10 guys who have forgettable voices, songs that sound exactly the same (chord progressions, melodies), and lyrical messages that are honestly catered to morons.

Shania has always been a trailblazer. She's unique, fresh, and most importantly, she doesn't give a F$@k! Instead of freaking out, let's support an artist that we all love by calling in and requesting her song. I'd be happy to call in to any of your radio stations. Let's bug the crap out of them. You can call WMZQ 98.7 here in Washington DC by calling 1-800-505-0098 😂 Let's do it!

Did anyone listen to this? You can sign up for a free trial and it seems like replay old shows. I just turned on it to play in the background while I work. She starts with Faith Hill's This Kiss, mentioning it was nominated for two Grammys but lost both... to Shan. lol

edit - also the show is not at thematic as they would have you believe. It's supposed to be "Country Crossovers" but it's only played Faith Hill so far -- then Michael Jackson and the Offspring. Will update with any interesting (if there is anything).

Nothing all that interesting. It's mostly fun facts about songs - movies they were in or Grammys they won. She played probably 8-10 country crossovers among all the other 90s stuff. At the end she promotes her album but spends less than a minute on that.

The most interesting thing she mentioned was that "Amazed" by Lonestar was originally offered to Boyz II Men, and she says she wonders how that would sound. Funny thing is that Boyz II Men covered that song on their album Love--she doesn't have to wonder, haha. Didn't she go to one of their concerts in the past couple of years?

I am new here, but I do find it strange how quickly LATGG took off on the radio charts, now it's not even in the top 50. How can it be at number 36 on the Country airplay chart starting in July, yet it doesn't even show a rolling count on the mediabade charts? I think if she doesn't do something quick, like promote it more with live performances, or a music video soon, the song will be dead completely.

Horrible mis-management. Mediocre song, but Shania is awful on social media. Look at her tweets from the past 6 months. Awful.
Post Mutt and post big success, she should just not release new songs. Her fans want to hear the hits. Just tour the hits like the Rolling Stones or Rod Stewart.

I think that's a bit harsh to say. Shania is very well encouraged to make new music. I get tired of hearing the old stuff. I think the worst part about this comeback is that the publicity and promotion has been spradic and not consistent. Country music has always been driven on radio play, and Shania desperately needs radio play in order to get some running ground. It's almost like she is a new artist. She's having to reconnect with the radio world. I think she did great with all the radio interviews over the last couple of weeks, but they were mainly for XM radio, which is not the most popular format. She needs to do live performances. Late night shows and morning shows, other than GMA. I mean she has connections with Ellen, she could do Fallon, etc. As far as the song itself, I like it. I don't know if it was a better choice over SWMEC, but it definitely should be worthy of at least a top 20 spot on radio. Shania missed her opportunity when the ACM awards aired in April. If she wants to be back on the top, she must do everything that promotes her music.

Yes, a song needs some promotion to an extent. However it does not make or break a song. A good song will do well on the radio and charts just by being a GOOD SONG. As I said before, radio station music directors know a hit when they hear it. Good songs will get airplay, the others will not. That's it. "LATGG" has been off the Mediabase Top 50 airplay chart for days.

It'll be interesting to see where "LATGG" ranks on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart this week. It was No. 36 last week. We'll also get to see where it debuts on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart which is based on sales, airplay and streaming. A debut in the 30s on that chart would be a death sentence.

***"LATGG" is currently No. 62 on the iTunes Country chart and has fallen off the iTunes Top 200 All Genres chart.

And how painful this may sound I expect it also has to do with age. Which were the last big (radio) hits of Celine Dion, Dolly Parton, Madonna & Cher, just to name a few? It seems to be harder for older (female) artist to still get airplay for new material. Album sales are usually still ok, but singles usually do less well. Although I have hope that Shania will still get a hit with one of the songs of the album and I think she waits with releasing the best song until September when the album gets released.

Interesting point made about the social media too. But what crowd are we reaching to? Most artists today get the word out via twitter/instagram and have younger followers. Social media is consumed more by millennials compared to the previous generations, so the younger people who are on social media like twitter, instagram, etc. don't know her as well because she's been gone for so long. And since she has been gone for so long, it's more older millennials/people older than that would know who she is/is her fan, and they aren't really on twitter/instagram as much, as far as the parents of my friends and people like that go. Not saying no older people aren't on twitter/instagram, but we know it's more of the younger crowd. I'm 21 myself, and while I love Shania, only a handful of my friends do and they sing her older hits that we grew up to, but most people probably aren't interested in following a woman in her 50's who in a few years, we are old enough to be dating her son. It's just the reality. She's been gone so long, it's hard to grab that youth fan group so it's difficult for the song to gain popularity I feel. She knows that I think too. So I don't think social media is as big of a thing, even though yeah, her social media definitely lags. I think part of the issue is she is so reserved and so private, all of the time, especially on social media. Besides that, have you seen the replies to her social media? It's lots of older men saying making sexual comments about her or weird creepy comments. Personally, if i was her and received those, I'd avoid social media because of it.

To be fair, Cher and Madonna have both had at least modest hits in the past 10 years on the AC charts. I think Dolly has had SOME album success lately but no success for singles (which is too bad because a lot of her work is really clever albeit hokey). That said, Madonna and Cher (and LeAnn Rimes and probably a lot of artists) have consistently hit #1 on Billboard Dance charts. So I think Shan stands a pretty okay chance at AC radio and dance charts, if she goes for it and if the material is good.

But country--doubt it. So I agree with you, she'll probably have good album sales but miserable chart performance.

And that's okay.

Let's be honest, Shania probably doesn't care much for the charts anyway. In fact, I recall several times in her interviews during her popular years, she stated she didn't care or keep up with the numbers. I'm almost to the point that I don't care about the numbers either. I am just glad that she is back to making new music. Whether you guys like it or not, every artist must be willing to adapt to changes in musical styles. Being a songwriter myself, I do find that my writing and musical tastes has changed even from five years ago. It is what it is, so we must support her and be thankful that she even wanted to make new music to begin with. She has all the money in the world to not have to work another day in her life, so the fact that she came back is awesome!

I am very curious about her debut on Billboard charts tomorrow...
Anyway, something strange is happening: why on Billboard site (and wiki too) Country Airplay Chart and Hot Country Chart are the same?
I mean, if you look FOREVER AND FOR ALWAYS chart position on Billboard here the results: #4 on both Country Airplay AND Hot Country!
How is possible? Are the same charts? °_°

Billboard Country Airplay and Billboard Hot Country Songs are different charts. I guess sometimes songs peak at the same position on both charts.

McDonald's crew trainer, born dead, and wetting her skirt on stage: Country music star Shania Twain answers outrageous rumours about her life... ahead of her new album

By Alisha Buaya for Daily Mail Australia | Daily Mail | June 26, 2017

She's the Canadian country music star behind hit songs, including, From This Moment On, Man! I Feel Like a Woman! and You're Still the One.

And Shania Twain has answered outrageous rumours about herself on the Hit 105 breakfast show.

Speaking to Stav, Abby and Matt, the 51-year-old was game to confirm and deny information the hosts had found on a website called shaniatwainfacts.com (website does not exist).

The Grammy award winner was asked if there was any truth to the rumour that she was born presumed dead and that the doctor gave the singer's mother a cigarette.

Without any hesitation, Shania said it was true to the collective gasps of the crew.

She was then asked if had worked at McDonald's she would the only junk food she eats is the chain's French Fries.

"Well, that's half true. I did work at McDonald's, but french fries are not the only junk food I eat, she laughed.

Intrigued at her fast food career, Matty asked her if she made it to being a crew trainer.

'Yes, I did!' she answered again to the collective surprise of the hosts, as host Abby revealed Matty was also once a McDonald's trainer.

Shania was finally asked if she had peed herself on stage at school because she was nervous.

'That is totally false. I peed my skirt,' she comically corrected the fact.

Since her last album Up! in 2002, Shania has been dealing health concerns, particularly with her voice, after she was diagnosed with Lyme disease.

During that time she also had to deal with her ex-husband's extramarital affair with her best friend, which she used as material for tracks on her upcoming album Now! set to be released later this year.

Shania recently did a phone interview with a Brazilian entertainment website. I translated the interview from Portuguese to English using an online translator.

INTERVIEW: Shania Twain wants to record with Taylor Swift and Sia

By Rafael Aloi | PapelPop | June 22, 2017

After 15 years of her last studio album, Shania Twain is about to return to the country pop scene with the new album "Now," scheduled to be released in September this year. Papelpop talked over the phone to the Canadian singer who told more about the new project and would like to one day partner with Taylor Swift and Sia. "I think that would be very interesting."

Shania said that her new job is very personal. "I wrote him whole, without the collaboration of anyone, which makes him very direct and emotional. The album is me in its entirety," she explains. The singer also explained that Prince almost produced her new album, and that she has always seen a very strong connection between country and pop. "I love Miley Cyrus, I love Taylor Swift," he confessed.

The Canadian also said she has contact with Paula Fernandes, with whom she recorded a version of her hit "You're Still the One" in 2014, and she dreams of coming to Brazil. "She came to Las Vegas, we spent a lot of time together, and we still keep in touch. And I've never been to Brazil. I know little. I've even been researching more about Brazil, because I plan to go there. Paula has already sent me photos to leave me with more will. If I can do shows there, I think I'll end up spending some extra time just to walk around and get to know the country. "

Last week, Shania Twain released "Life's About To Get Good," the first single from "Now," which hits stores on September 29.

CHECK OUR COMPLETE INTERVIEW WITH SHANIA TWAIN:

PAPELPOP: Your last album was released 15 years ago, what is it like to come back with new songs, a new album, after so much time?

Shania Twain: It's very gratifying and super exciting to get back to working on the songs. It's a very good feeling.

In 2012, you started a residence in Las Vegas ...

That's right, I was there for two years.

After you, many artists have also started residences such as Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, what are the pros and cons of a Vegas residence?

There are many positive things about a Vegas residence. It is an exceptional production. It was a wonderful and extraordinary moment. It was not so challenging to stay in one place, instead of traveling all the time. The only negative thing is that you fail to know new cities, and the public of these cities. Other than that, having a Vegas residence is a great experience.

You had said earlier that you talked to Prince for a few months and that he was almost the producer of this new album. Could you explain this better?

Prince went after me to produce an album. But it was not a very good timing for me because I was in the middle of a divorce, so I had not written enough songs and had problems with my voice, I was not ready to make a new album. It was a very early conversation, and unfortunately I was not even ready. Now that he's gone, I'm so grateful to have met him, talked to him, exchanged experiences. I feel very lucky to have met him, even without having had the chance to work effectively with him.

For some time you have been diagnosed with dysphonia [difficulty in producing the voice]. How was it to record this new album and deal with the recovery of your voice?

This has greatly affected my vocal ability. I started doing therapy right before my shows in Vegas, and then I went on with my "Rock This Country" tour, always doing work with my voice. I was more and more encouraged to re-record in the studio. It was a long process, until I got enough confidence to make the new album.

Are there any plans for a "Now" tour?

Yes. Now that the album is ready, and I'm very confident with the songs, I would like to present them live.

Maybe come to Brazil ...

Exactly [laughs]. I would love to. I never been there. I know that many Brazilians come to my shows. It would be amazing to be able to go to Brazil and do shows there.

You have a duet with Paula Fernandes, a version of your hit "You're Still the One". Do you know other Brazilian artists?

She's the one I know best, because she came to Las Vegas, we spent a lot of time together, and we still keep in touch. And I've never been to Brazil. I know little. I've even been researching more about Brazil, because I've been planning to go there for a while. Paula already sent me photos to leave me with more will. If I can do shows there, I think I'll end up staying a little longer just to walk around and get to know the country.

And have you heard the backwoodsman, the Brazilian country?

No. I think I need to ask Paula to tell me to listen.

Shania, you're called the Queen of Country Pop, and recently some singers like Taylor Swift have gone from country to pop, Miley Cyrus who wants to go back to country roots, or even Lady Gaga and Beyoncé who have experienced a bit of country in their last Works. What do these two rhythms have so much in common?

I think there is a great bridge between these two musical genres. There's a lot of the songs telling a story. There is also folk, which mixes up a bit of country and pop. Country is not so much for dancing, but for you to say something to yourself, or to others. But there are many types of country and many types of pop. I consider myself well focused on pop. I like publics and mixed genres.

And what do you think of the work of these pop singers with a country footprint?

I love. I love them. I love Miley Cyrus, I love Taylor Swift. They are two amazing artists and do memorable jobs.

What can we expect from your new album?

It's a very diverse album. It's very personal, I wrote it whole, without the collaboration of anyone, which makes it very direct and emotional. The album is me by the whole.

You said that you did not have the collaboration of anyone on the album, but you are thinking of partnering with someone on a future project?

Yes, I really like partnerships. It's that this album is more about myself, showing my true self. I did it for myself.

Is there a name you've never worked with, but would you like to?

There are so many people! I think I'd like to work with Taylor because she's a great singer and songwriter. I think that would be very interesting. AND THE SIA! I would love to work with Sia, it would be really cool to do something with her!

Our time is running out, but thank you so much for talking to me. I'm looking forward to the release of your album in September.

Oh, thank you, you'll like it! Bye Bye!

Tommy, do you know what is wrong with allaccess.com? That's where I've always been able to see the latest rolling mediabase charts, and for the last several days it has been messed up. Thanks in advance!

I'm getting "No 7-Day Report data available" too. Must be a glitch or something.

I have seen a few tweets from unnamed sources that they are supposedly canceling the single?? Has anyone else heard anything about this?

I think y'all are freaking out for no reason. Tommy, why do you care so much about the charts? We waited 15 years for this album and it's being shrouded by negativity on here.

Have you guys heard Swinging With My Eyes Closed yet? It's incredible. That chorus is just pure stand-up-and-conquer-the-world-ear-candy-for-eternity worthy. She's always been able to create these big hooks and choruses all on her own. To me, that's more important to know than sales. But then again, I'm a fan of her artistry not relevancy.

I don't believe this, but this was just posted on the LATGG Wikipedia page under the release tab.

"On June 26, Mercury Nashville issued a statement regarding the cancellation of the single due to low performance on the radio. The music video that was also planned to be shot has also been cancelled due to the underperformance of the song."

Personally, I love the song and I'm excited to hear the rest of her material!

Okay, so the song is officially bad ass. Rejected by Nashville. 😝

And at what @shaniafan28 said. You're right. Most of the people here in NYC have no idea Shania has a new single out.

BILLBOARD UPDATE (week of July 8): After debuting at No. 36 on the Billboard Country Airplay Top 60 chart last week, "Life's About To Get Good" falls off this week's chart. The song debuts at No. 33 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Top 50 chart which is based on sales, airplay and streaming. This week's charts will be available online tomorrow or Wednesday.

Mercury is crying over spilled milk. After months of total silence and less than zero support of the song, now they say the single will be canceled... no words.
Shania's doing all by herself here, even if in my opinion it's a bad idea doing a radio based promotion with no tv shows in it.
I don' t think "Swinging" would be a better choice as second single.
Let's hope Mercury won't delay or cancel the album too.

I definitely don't think LATGG was cancelled. Charts Worldwide is shown:

The cancellation is bull****. It's the same person that keeps editing her wikipedia page without any reference that backs up this fact. I think the song is doing quite well for her being away so long. Let's all be more positive and less focussed on the charts :)

According to Mediabase rolling charts this week. LATGG currently stands at #71 dropping from #50 last week. It holds with 179 spins, extremely low compared to the 600+ last week. However, LATGG has been added to 16 new stations. If anyone listens to radio, call you local stations and request the heck out of this song! Let the fans determine what gets played!

LATGG's sales is at #17. Overall, it was at #33 in Country charts. I think this was brought by low radio spins and streaming.

What chart is this?

It's also #17 in Country Digital Song Sales.

That's the same chart Nash is talking about. Country Digital Song Sales.

It's #70 in Canadian hot 100, but I expect a top 10 country Canada chart position.
