Sad to read such reviews which almost suggest: stop evolving, just sing your old hits.

What fourth song did the girl name after Swingin'? It seems like she named 4 songs, my ears have only caught 3. confuse

‘A stallion is a horse’ and other things we learned at Shania Twain’s Xcel concert

By Keith Harris | City Pages | May 16, 2018

Shania Twain wants you to know that everything is going to be OK.

Now clearly, everything is not going to be OK. In fact, nothing is going to be OK. If we’re even going to use the word “OK” again we need to redefine it to mean something more like “not OK at all.” But for two booming hours at the Xcel last night, a good-heartedly out-of-touch, glamorously tasteless, pathologically optimistic rich lady with a killer pop-country songbook convinced us that there was no crisis through which we could not blithely shimmy, shake, kick, turn, stomp, stomp through, consequence-free, even as she grappled (well, tussled gingerly) with demons of her own.

The old Nashville standard “We Will Rock You” boomed through the room as the lights came up on the mid-arena b-stage, where Shania’s drummer, her blonde hair flying, beat out a rhythm I can’t say for certain wasn’t inspired by Faith No More’s “Epic.” Shania herself entered from the stands, striding down the stairs of the 100 level in silver gown and matching cowboy hat, high-fiving fans and making her way slowly through the crowd and toward the stage. Everything at a Shania show, you see, happens on Shania time. (No, I’m not gonna call her “Twain”—what is this, the New Yorker? Here is a superstar who demands we meet her as pretend equals on a ground of false intimacy, and I’ll sure as hell oblige.)

Shania eased the show ill-advisedly into motion with her recent, adequate single “Life’s About to Get Good,” shuffling as nimbly as her heels and floor length hemline permitted, then continued to hold back with “Come On Over,” the most mildly upbeat of her hits. For the early part of the show, performances of weak new material seemed perfectly timed to deflate the room. Shania would dole out a pair of the oldies the crowd craved, then foist something new on us that wasn’t just uninspired, but fundamentally clashed with our conception of Shania-ness—and, more importantly, hers.

One reason Shania upset country sticklers in the ‘90s isn’t just that her sound was pop, fusing ’80s rock excess with synthetic simulations of country signifiers. It’s that her outlook was pop too. Shania wasn’t one for barroom weepers or cheatin’ songs. Her songs recounted a series of modest setbacks, from bad hair days to PMS, but nothing that a connubial foot rub and a flurry of exclamation points and a gated snare drum couldn’t fix. At the height of her powers, Shania Twain was a Redbook article about a Def Leppard song (or vice versa) come to life.

Shania’s latest album, Now, is not good. It’s also her most personal album. In fact, it’s not good because it’s her most personal album. No pop star has ever been so sheepish about admitting to heartbreak. She apologized at length before the Now track, “Poor Me,” which she called a “pity party.” “I kinda think that it’s OK to be down every once in a while,” she insisted, as though this was a controversial statement that would be met with heated protests from the crowd rather than something every sane human adult believes.

But in Shanialand, sadness is a gruesome aberration to be quashed. Other new songs included “I’m Alright,” an anthem of denial disguised as a journey of healing and acceptance, and “Let’s Kiss and Make Up,” which she said was inspired by an argument with her husband. She was pissed and ready to vent, she said, but she wrote a song of reconciliation instead. After all, why be angry when you can cram those feelings deep inside where they couldn’t possibly cause you any long-term psychological harm?

But to paraphrase myself, from long ago, complaining that Shania Twain lacks depth is saying a roller coaster doesn’t have much of a plot. Her dotty stage patter felt charmingly unscripted. She explained that a stallion was a horse. She told fans to “get out their selfies.” She said “sometimes you just gotta look on the bright side” and explained that life was about “taking the good with the bad” and saw “a light at the end of the tunnel” as though she sensed something was amiss with the world but she couldn't ascertain exactly what.

And throughout, she was consistently true to her own garish aesthetic. I mean, I look like I got dressed in the dark most days and even I feel confident critiquing Shania’s wardrobe. At times she resembled a first-grader who’d been allowed to pick out her own outfit for school. One of her looks could be best described as “cowgirl ballerina Fonzie,” but she could also impersonate an eccentric gender fluid doweress known for solving crimes in Victorian London when the mood struck. A snug bodysuit seemed to magically change color as she moved.

More than once I glanced away from her for mere seconds and she’d somehow changed outfits before I looked back. But she outdid herself during “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” not only because some designer had created a unique kind of garment forthat was simultaneously both a dress and a housecoat and also neither a dress nor a housecoat, but because its pattern clashed gloriously with the leopard print designs glowing on the cubes behind her.

For “Up!” her dancers’ backs sprouted tree-like apparatuses from which silver Warholian balloons bloomed. During “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under,” maybe the perkiest song ever recorded about dating a serially unfaithful jackass, her male dancers were paired off with humanoid springs in cowboy hats. And if every country concert has its obligatory patriotic moment, only Shania Twain would sing “Soldier” as she floated inappropriately above the crowd on a perch shaped like a guitar case. Sontag’s “Notes on Camp” is basically a Shania Twain concert review. (Especially the part where she says “pure Camp is always naive.”)

As is customary in these parts, Shania mourned Prince. She told us, “We were actually planning to work together.” [citation needed] She introduced “You’re Still the One” by mention that Prince recorded it, and indeed he did, with Marva King, in the late ‘90s, when he was in his Lilith Fair phase and covering Joan Osborne and Sheryl Crow.

So much happened. Shania brought three audience members onstage, two women and a man. They said they were from Bismark and we booed them. During a flirty bit where the guy was supposed to lift Shania onto a piano, one of the women upstaged her by shouting a Cardi B lyric. Shania made us watch a montage of her old videos while she sat grooving in silhouette off to the side nursing a flute of wine. Every dancer was given a drum to slam during the punctuated chorus of “If You’re Not In It For Love (I’m Outta Here)” and a rainforest’s worth of streamers were launched into the crowd.

The encore began, predictably, with “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!,” an anthem so femininity-obsessed it was just begging to be queered upon arrival. And she closed with “Rock This Country!” which was the closest thing she’d made to a political statement until she cluelessly praised Trump in a recent interview. Personally, I’d sooner ask Shania what the lyric “We’re gonna rock this country right out of this world” could possibly mean than inquire how she’d have voted. Then again, I don’t think rich people should be allowed to vote in the first place.

After this, there was confetti. Then more streamers. All of our bad feelings had been rocked right out of this world. Yes, this morning they all came back. But I kinda think that it’s OK not to be down every once in a while too.

Shania Twain sets the standard with sizzling performance

By Alexa Giebink | Argus Leader | May 17, 2018

Step aside, Garth Brooks. Shania Twain is in the house.

The down-home diva blew the roof off the Denny Sanford Premier Center Wednesday night. Country fans flooded the event center, eager to see the music icon on her "Now" tour.

"I love Sioux Falls. It's gorgeous," said Twain as she sashayed across the stage during her set. "It's a really pretty town. We're happy to be back."

To warm up the crowd, Twain selected the Swiss heartthrob Bastian Baker.

A sultry voice with the looks to match, Baker had many women in the crowd screaming for more. The opener's set of upbeat tunes set the stage for two hours of non-stop Shania.

Amid a feeling of tense excitement, the superstar emerged from the rear of the arena and made her way through the crowd.

With her charming, yet polished, dialogue, Twain delivered a flashy and well-choreographed spectacle.

Throughout the evening, the country star belted out fan favorites such as the 1997 hits "That Don't Impress Me Much" and "You're Still The One."

Between the classics, Twain performed songs from her new album "Now." The moody ballads "Poor Me" and "I'm Alright" showed the artist's more serious side.

Despite the brief moments of self-reflection, the singer performed a show full of fun costumes and flashing lights. By the end, there were too many wardrobe changes to count, with each outfit more fabulous than the last.

Although some of the props bordered on kitschy, like the metal figures with cowboy hats, there was always something visually interesting happening.

As Twain belted out her iconic girl power anthems, a troupe of hunky dancers heated up the stage. It's was hard to argue when the superstar declared the sizzling performers "the sexiest guys on the planet."

Shania Twain's performance was bursting with theatrics from a laser show to full body light suits. At one point, the country star took the air, flying above the crowd in a swing made out of a guitar case.

A few lucky fans even got an invitation to join the singer on stage for a selfie, including an adorable seven-year-old boy in a rhinestone cowboy hat.

After being showered with silver streamers, the crowd broke into applause, demanding an encore. To close, Twain brought down the house with "Man! I Feel Like A Woman" and "Rock This Country!"

Here is another St. Paul concert review.

Shania Twain Throws A Party For 14,000+ In St. Paul, Minnesota

Shania Twain sure knows how to throw a party and she put on a great one last night at the Xcel Energy Center.

By Corbyn Jenkins | The Odyssey | May 16, 2018

Shania Twain sure knows how to throw a party and last night she put on a great one at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Opening up the night was Swiss singer, songwriter, and performer, Bastian Baker. He got the crowd moving and grooving and really had a great stage presence. From the moment he took the stage, everybody seemed to be drawn in, enjoying the music and it continued throughout his entire set. He did a great job getting the crowd pumped up for Shania Twain.

After Bastian Baker's set, Shania Twain entered through the back of the arena and made her way through the nearly sold-out crowd. As she made way to the main stage she screamed, "Are you ready St. Paul?" And from that moment on, after hearing the crowd's positive response, it was obvious that it was about to be one heck of a night.

Twain started off the night with, "Life's About To Get Good" which is a track off her new album, Now. Following was "Come on Over" and "Up!" which got the crowd engaged from the start with their hands in the air, swaying and jumping along to the music.

After a few more tracks, and dropping down below the stage, Twain emerged back on stage in a new outfit, which was a reoccurrence throughout the entire show. A few costume highlights were her flowy sparkly black dress, some fierce red boots, a black cowgirl hat, and a blue body suit. It was entertaining to watch the fun costume changes take place. I think I counted a total of eight costume changes, and I might have missed a few, but overall she looked absolutely amazing throughout the entire show. Also, during each costume change, Twain didn't leave the crowd hanging as she got ready. There were drum solos, music videos to watch, and even a kiss cam. To say the show was entertaining would be an understatement.

A highlight of the night came when Twain played, "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?" The crowd went wild for the song and the dancers on stage really shined during this performance, as they did for the majority of the show. It was hard to keep your eyes off of them.

"You guys are awesome. You're amazing. I'm gonna do a song that's been a big inspiration for me. It's a new song and I wrote it to remind myself that there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. So, I want to share it with you and I hope it inspires you as well," said Twain before performing a song off her new record titled, "I'm Alright."

Another highlight came shortly after as Twain shared with the crowd that she visited Paisley Park yesterday. She mentioned that it felt interesting and surreal and that she knew Prince very well and that they were actually supposed to work together on her latest released album, Now. She also shared that it was just beautiful to visit it again. She then went on to say, "I know he (Prince) liked this next song and he actually did a version of it for himself and I was really touched by that. So, this song has been with me for over 20 years now and I know you guys know it so please sing along." She then began to play her hit track, "You're Still The One" while floating through the arena on a guitar case swing.

A few other highlights of the night include when Twain brought a few fans on stage and they took some selfies, and when she brought back out the opener, Bastian Baker for "Party For Two" and "Swingin' With My Eyes Closed."

As the night began to come to an end Twain played, "I'm Outta Here!" which had a positive reaction from the crowd and ended with streamers blasting from the stage.

Finally, as you would guess, the encore was a hit as Twain yelled, "Let's go girls!" and dove into her number one hit, "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" The crowd went wild and screamed the lyrics right back to her. Following the big hit was "Rock This Country!" which got the crowd up and on their feet dancing and singing along for one final song and another burst of confetti and streamers at the end.

Overall, Shania Twain knows how to put on one amazing show. From the moment she took the stage to the moment she waved goodbye, she never stopped smiling from ear to ear making it evident that she just loves performing and sharing her music with the world. I think it is safe to say that the St. Paul crowd left the Xcel Energy Center feeling more than complete tonight.

Review: Shania Twain's Omaha show impresses — much

By Kevin Coffey | Omaha World-Herald | May 19, 2018

Shania Twain’s still got it.

For two hours Friday night, the queen of country was a commanding presence as she sang a combo of her greatest hits and latest efforts.

Twain’s mix of good-time, foot-stomping country anthems such as “Any Man of Mine” were a good mix with the dance-pop sounds of “Let’s Kiss And Make Up” and “Swingin’ With My Eyes Closed.”

A sold-out CenturyLink Center — fans hoisting signs, rocking new Twain T-shirts and singing along to songs new and old — was delighted with the show no matter what she did.

And she sounded great.

Twain sounded so good that sometimes I looked closely to see if she was actually singing or if her vocals were a recording.

Nope. It was the real deal. She simply sounds that good.

If I didn’t notice her taking breaths and making very subtle mistakes, I’d have thought twice. Her vocals were nearly flawless from start to finish, which is all the more impressive considering that her debut album was released 25 years ago.

Twain was on fire from the moment she stepped onstage in a gorgeous silver sequined dress and began belting out “Life’s About to Get Good.”

Like she has her whole career, Twain walked the line between pop and country, sometimes stepping to one side or the other for a few songs.

And her production toed the same line, mixing moments with a live band and others featuring canned music, as well as combining intimate country moments with over-the-top pop spectacle.

Five massive, moving cubes acted as backdrops, video screens and secondary stages as they moved around the enormous stage, and Twain was flanked by a crew of occasionally cowboy-hatted dancers and Daisy Dukes-costumed backing singers.

It’s the kind of stuff you’d normally see from a pop star, but rather than distract with meaningless pomp, it enhanced Twain’s performance.

Every moment was a spectacle you could sing along to.

And sing they did.

“That Don’t Impress Me Much,” “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?,” “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” and Twain’s other massive hits were the night’s most entertaining moments, but even new tracks such as “I’m Alright” and “More Fun” were a good time.

But it was the ballad “You’re Still the One” that featured Twain’s best vocal performance. She was able to fill the arena with her voice with seemingly little effort.

The audience loved it, but Twain herself may have been having more fun than anyone in the arena. She laughed with her dancers, snapped selfies with a pair of fans she welcomed onstage and continually thanked the audience for supporting her career for so many years.

“I just want to take a second to say how privileged and thankful I am to be in this beautiful city,” she said. “Omaha is stunning.”

The first leg of the tour ends tonight in Chicago. Shania doesn't hit the stage again until June 1 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. (Good! I need a break too. biggrin) I'm sure she'll fly home to The Bahamas for a couple weeks to relax.

Shania Twain dazzles at United Center despite shadow cast by Trump comments

By Jessi Roti | Chicago Tribune | May 20, 2018

Shania Twain, with a nearly two-hour, 21-song set of greatest hits and pure country-pop pageantry, showed that she knows how to put on a show.

Those with an eye on the news might also wonder about her agility in dancing around the elephant in the room — her recent interview comments about President Donald Trump.

Currently in the second week of her “Shania Now” tour, she pulled out all the stops — from eight costume changes and vibrant set design to mid-air suspension and interpretative dancers. Opening the show with “Life’s About to Get Good” from her 2017 album “Now” — her first studio release in 15 years — Twain appeared in the crowd, donning a rhinestone cowboy hat, greeting fans along the way as she was ushered toward the stage.

A dizzying display of pop art-inspired and honky-tonk imagery danced across projection screens that doubled as stage risers as she and her backup singers and dance troupe worked double-time to keep the energy from dropping too much for too long.

It was evident the singer wanted to bring the party, often laughing into the microphone, striking power pose after power pose and tousling her hair while talking about how good it felt to be back in Chicago.

Whatever it was — the laughter or the excitement with which she attacked her set — had fans out of their seats early. “Come on Over,” from 1997’s two-time diamond-certified album of the same name, maintained its laid-back, bayou charm and was quickly followed by other hit singles, “Up!” “Don’t Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)” and “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”

Twain, who has been open about her struggle with regaining her vocal strength after a battle with Lyme disease resulting in dysphonia, sounded rested and clear. Extensive therapy has obviously helped her get comfortable in her lower register, her richer tone bringing a smoky feel to newer songs “More Fun” and “Let’s Kiss and Make Up.”

But the pace of the performance and song succession didn’t faze the seasoned music veteran as much as her onstage banter seemed to. Jovial, but clunky in delivery and overall awkwardness, she rambled. Her attempts at connecting deeper, whether discussing the inspiration behind lyrics to asking a fan and his partner to escort her back to the main stage after she flew over the crowd on a swing made from a guitar case during “You’re Still the One,” felt contrived — filler (maybe) for a different conversation she wanted to have, but didn’t know how it would be received.

Her audience seemed to have an unspoken agreement with their country queen — we won’t mention it, if you won’t. The “it” being the fallout from an April interview Twain did with The Guardian.

A discussion about her political stance sparked controversy when she said she would’ve voted for Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election had she been able to.

“Even though he was offensive, he seemed honest,” she said. “Do you want straight or polite? Not that you shouldn’t be able to have both.”

After the interview was made public, Twain took to Twitter to apologize, adding that she was caught off guard and that, as a Canadian (who resides in Switzerland), she regretted answering without giving her response more context; that her “limited understanding” was that “the President talked to a portion of America like an accessible person they could relate to, as he was NOT a politician.”

On Saturday, it seemed odd that the singer who built a career on songs of empowerment and honesty had nothing to say about her comments.

Instead, she tiptoed around what could’ve dampened the evening’s mood, choosing to lean on the “unifying power of music.”

“This is where I feel the most at home,” she said, “with a mix of people that come together for one great time, for the love of music.”

It felt like a missed opportunity for Twain to drive home her apology.

It’s not that artists aren’t allowed to have political views, and it’s fair to say people haven't thought twice or as hard about artists’ affiliations before now.

Before sending off the night with “Rock this Country,” Twain barreled into the ultimate sing-along number “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”; singing, “Ain’t gonna act politically correct, I only wanna have a good time.”

Ziiiing. A phrase so innocently used in a ’90s pop song about feeling like a carefree woman out on the town has, in this political climate, been co-opted as a catch-all for absolving responsibility.

And there it was again — a cloud hanging over what was a stellar display of showmanship and craft.

Shania Twain’s set list:

  1. Life’s About to Get Good
  2. Come On Over
  3. Up!
  4. Poor Me
  5. Don’t Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)
  6. That Don’t Impress Me Much
  7. Kiss and Make Up
  8. Any Man of Mine
  9. Who’s Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?
  10. Honey I’m Home
  11. I’m Alright
  12. Soldier
  13. You’re Still the One
  14. More Fun
  15. From This Moment On
  16. I’m Gonna Getcha Good!
  17. Party for Two (featuring Bastion Baker)
  18. Swinging with My Eyes Closed
  19. (If You’re Not in it For Love) I’m Outta Here!

Encore:

  1. Man! I Feel Like a Woman!
  2. Rock this Country

Shania is Still the One

The Reader | May 21, 2018

Before Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood or even Taylor Swift (hard to imagine right?) there was the original queen of pop country herself, Shania Twain. Rolling into Omaha, the “From this Moment” singer performed to a packed house at the Centurylink Center Friday night. “You already sound outstanding,” Twain said with a roaring reaction from the crowd. Shania’s two-hour long show with a 21-song set of her greatest feel good country pop hits definitely show she still reigns supreme.

Her stage was a display of pop art-inspired and animal print imagery with 5 moving cubes, giving you a reminiscent feel of Shania from the 90’s. There were projection screens which doubled as stage risers as she and her backup singers and dancers kept the crowd on their feet for most if not all of the show.

It was evident the goal for the night was going to be laden with non-stop high energy country hits. “Come on Over” from her third album of blockbuster ballads and radio anthems, gave the crowd something to get up and dance and were followed up with her classic hits like , “Up!” and “That Don’t Impress Me Much” giving fans the Shania Twain fix they needed after her 15-year break from performing.

Mixed in among her setlist where songs from her newest album “Now” which she stated to the press before its release was a chance for her to do something new and pure. Well received, songs like "Swingin' With My Eyes Closed", "Life's About to Get Good" and "Let's Kiss and Make Up" were just some of the newer hits she performed throughout the night. It’s true some of her newer material might not have the same hooks as her older hits, but they stay true to her country pop roots.

Half way through the show, Shania flew over the crowd on a swing made from a guitar case during “You’re Still the One” striking a chord with everyone in the arena that no matter how long it’s been, Shania’s magic can’t be undone.

Shania teased the crowd later saying, “Omaha, you are beautiful. I was sitting with some of my crew eating at a restaurant and I just love your downtown. I would move here if I could just ride my horse through the streets! I am seriously thinking about it.”

Rounding out the show, Shania shimmered in a rhinestone encrusted jumpsuit and sang, “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” and delivered her biggest hit with an encore performance of “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” which had everyone in the arena on their feet singing and dancing. It’s evident that no amount of time away from the public or from music has dimmed Shania’s ability to put on a great show, exhibiting to her fan’s, Shania’s Still the One!

2018 Golden Mic Awards: Shania Twain's Tour Is Most-Anticipated

The Boot | May 24, 2018

After announcing that her Rock This Country Tour in 2015 would be her last, Shania Twain thrilled her fans when she decided to hit the road for her Shania Now Tour -- clearly. Twain's supporters came out in droves to vote in the 2018 Golden Mic Awards, winning her the Most-Anticipated Tour title with 39 percent of the poll's votes.

In support of her first new album in 15 years, Twain launched her Shania Now Tour in early May. Although she'd said she was coming off the road for good after the last time around, she decided that her last trek wasn't the note she wanted to end on; the response from fans in support of her decision to tour again confirmed that for her.

“I felt like at that time maybe that was all I had left in me. I really felt that way,” Twain says, “but I was so energized by the tour and by the fans. For the first time in my career, I really felt like it was easier and the fans really gave me more than ever before for some reason.”

Thus far on her more-than-40-stop Shania Now Tour, Twain has been filling arenas with the dedicated fans who couldn't wait for another chance to watch the legendary diva perform songs from her new album, as well as hits from her vast repertoire. She's scheduled to be on tour until the end of 2018, including stops overseas as well.

Running a close second to Twain's Shania Now Tour in The Boot's 2018 Golden Mic Awards Most-Anticipated Tour poll was Kenny Chesney's Trip Around the Sun Tour, which racked up 34 percent of the votes. That trek began in late April, while the third-place tour -- Keith Urban's Graffiti U Tour -- will begin in mid-June.

Shania Twain to perform at Amalie Arena

Tampa Bay Newspapers Weekly | May 26, 2018

TAMPA – In what promises to be one of the most anticipated tours of 2018, global superstar Shania Twain is on the road in support of “Now,” her 2017 album.

The tour got underway May 3 in Tacoma, Washington, and will include a stop in the Tampa Bay area. Twain will perform Saturday, June 2, 7:30 p.m., at Amalie Arena, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa. Tickets start at $36.20. Call 800-745-3000 or visit ticketmaster.com for tickets. For venue information, visit www.amaliearena.com.

These dates mark Shania’s first tour since “Rock This Country” back in 2015. Produced by Live Nation, the tour will run through the rest of the summer.

Twain is a five-time Grammy Award-winner and the reigning queen of country pop. With more than 90 million albums sold worldwide and U.S. sales topping $34.5 million, Twain remains the top-selling female country artist of all time. Her albums include her eponymous Platinum-selling 1993 debut, the Grammy Award-winning 1995 release “The Woman in Me,” “Come on Over,” the best-selling studio album in Soundscan history by a female artist in any genre and the best-selling country album of all time with over 40 million units sold worldwide, and “Up!,” Twain’s third consecutive diamond-selling album release.

“I had to go through a lot in life to get to where I am,” Twain said in a biography provided by Universal Music Group. “I can actually say that I’m home. Optimism is what you hear.”

Between 2015 and 2016, Twain recorded the 16 tracks that would be featured on “Now.” Recording sessions took place in Switzerland, the United States, England and the Bahamas. Twain took on the role of executive producer, co-producing with a team that included Ron Aniello, Matthew Koma, Jacquire King, and Jake Gosling.

Implementing acoustic instruments like mandolin, banjo, percussion and guitar, the sonic palette carries what she refers to as “an organic thread” with “a bit of a retro sound.”

Bastian Baker will open the show.

The 26-year-old Swiss superstar was hand-selected by Twain to join her world tour. In addition to his opening set, Baker is slated to duet with Twain during the show.

Baker, a platinum-selling recording artist, released new single “Love On Fire” along with a music video on May 4. He’s currently in the studio working on his next album.

“Tomorrow May Not Be Better,” Baker’s certified platinum debut album, staked its claim at No. 3 on the charts only behind David Guetta and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Baker produced the entire project himself. He followed up with a pair of albums: “Too Old to Die Young” and “Facing Canyons.”

Here is the tour t-shirt for the U.S. and Canada. Why did they use a picture from last year's Stagecoach festival?!?! Since it's the NOW tour, they should have used the album cover picture or one of the others from the photo shoot. I don't get it.

Edit: Apparently there is also a blue tour t-shirt with the album cover picture.

The tour t-shirts have a mistake. Last year it was announced that as of July 1, Air Canada Centre in Toronto will be called ScotiaBank Arena. Shania is there July 6 & 7.

Before Taylor Swift, There Was Shania Twain

By Clint Hale | Houston Press | May 31, 2018

Taylor Swift is about as big as it gets with regard to modern-day pop royalty. She’s moved millions of albums over the past decade and sold out arenas around the world. Hell, she’s such a big deal that Swift is now playing stadiums, including a date at NRG Stadium in September.

Swift rose to such prominence by taking her country songwriting sensibilities, transitioning over and applying them to the pop music marketplace. In doing so, she’s been incredibly successful. Not that Taylor Swift was the first to do so.

Shania Twain plays Toyota Center on Saturday, June 9 as part of her Shania Now Tour. Twain is touring in support of her first proper studio album in 15 years, Now, released in September. The album is perfectly fine and inoffensive as pop offerings go, but we’re not here to talk about what Shania Twain has done over the past year. Rather, we’re here to look back on how she essentially turned pop music on its head more than two decades ago.

Now, to compare the ascent of Shania Twain to the top of the pop mountain to Taylor Swift’s rise isn’t entirely an apples-to-apples comparison. Swift was a worldwide star by her late teens. Twain didn’t really become a country superstar until she was damn near 30. Swift, by all accounts, had a very positive upbringing. Twain’s, by comparison, was rooted in poverty and abuse. Swift is, first and foremost, a musician, whereas Shania always felt more like a performer.

But the parallels of note are staggering. Both Shania and Taylor began as country artists before transitioning into more of a general pop sound. Both are incredibly attractive performers with charisma and stage presence to burn. And both – though Swift has deviated from this a bit in recent months with her bad girl/EDM shtick – have a sort of approachable, human-like quality, which makes them relatable. That said, and with all due respect to Taylor Swift – who has gone to a level rarely seen before in pop music – Shania got there first.

As mentioned above, Shania Twain was far from an overnight success. Born Eileen Edwards in 1965 in Ontario, Canada, Twain kicked around with cover bands and in honky-tonks and county fairs early in her career. Hell, she didn’t even release her first proper studio album until she was almost 28! That self-titled album was a moderate success and got Twain a little radio play for her efforts. But to call her a household name would be a vast overstatement.

That is, until she dropped The Woman in Me, and more importantly, the juggernaut that was “Any Man of Mine.” To be fair, “Any Man of Mine” – Twain’s first No. 1 single – is a country song through and through. The music is country. The delivery is country. The video, both in locale and attire, is incredibly country. But the message – namely, one of female empowerment – struck a chord with listeners, and Shania Twain was soon a household name.

Other hits would follow and The Woman in Me would eventually move more than 10 million copies worldwide. Shania Twain was already country royalty, and was certainly household name in non-country circles, but she aimed for more with the release of 1997’s Come on Over. As Swift would later do with her third record, Speak Now, Twain shifted into a more traditional pop act with Come On Over, and singles like “You’re Still the One,” “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” made serious waves on pop radio (the album eventually moved more than 20 million copies). Up!, released in 2002, further cemented Twain’s grip on the pop music consciousness, thanks to singles like “I’m Gonna Getcha Good” and “Forever and For Always.”

Twain’s career stalled a bit from there. She had a son. She, admittedly, went through relationship troubles and eventually divorced producer husband Mutt Lange, who engaged in an extramarital affair with her best friend. She later married her former best friend’s ex-husband, so anyone who thinks Taylor Swift is the queen of revenge is simply misguided. Twain even caught Lyme Disease and almost lost her ability to sing.

Much of this is unfortunate, but none of it dampers the impact Twain had – and continues to have – on mainstream pop music. She parlayed country superstardom into international pop acclaim. Sure, Taylor Swift may have come along and done it bigger. But Shania did it first.

Shania Twain’s show is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 9 at Toyota Center, 1510 Polk. For information, call 866-466-8849 or visit houstontoyotacenter.com. $39.95-$159.95, plus fees.

I just got back from the Ft. Lauderdale show! I had a weird seat that was to the side of the stage - I couldn't see anything head on, but I could see both the front stage and "backstage" / beneath the stage. Thoughts / what I noticed:

- I think most of the music was "band in a can." Seems obvious in retrospect - she only has like four band members? But there were several songs with NO band playing anything. So it must have been fully playback. Includes LATGG and TDIMM. It seemed like there was some vocals in the playback too, but she was def singing live over it. (For the most part.)
I'm assuming that when the band actually has instruments, they're live, but I'm not 100% convinced.

- During the music video montage, she slips down into the trapdoor and disappears. She is NOT on stage for that.

- I could see the sound "booth" that had levels of various instruments/vocals on a computer screen. It was interesting but I don't really know anything about how those work. It looked like one screen was for pre-recorded stuff and the other was for live stuff.

- Mass exodus of people leaving during Poor Me, I'm Already, More Fun, and Kiss. From the videos I've seen and what I could see today, the songs kind of "work" - they look cool. But the energy is low.

This is my third time seeing her live - 2004, 2015, 2018. 2004 was much more of a country show. She had a full band, she could improvise, it was great. 2015 was a rock and roll show and I loved it. This tour is fully a pop production. It is choreographed down to the second, there is no room to improvise (other than her banter), and it's very music a visual experience. It reminds me of something Cher or Madonna or Taylor Swift might do. It's definitely a good time, but it's, idk weird.

Also Fred and Eja were hanging around the sound booth with Bastian. That was weird.

Thanks for your observations. Since there are only 4 band members, I figured most of the music has to be playback.

As for Shania, would you say she sings over a live pre-recorded backing track most of the time?

It sounded like there was a vocal backing track most of the time. I'm guessing usually a live backing track, but I think they just used the studio versions for the Now songs (I'm Alright & Poor Me especially sounded like the album) + for the the last part of MIFLAW.

There were a few times when she did not have a vocal track, just for a line or two in a couple of songs. She was still on pitch and stuff, just a LOT softer. Ending of TDIMM, a think a line in COO, a line in Honey I'm Home.

Shania Twain Sings Through the Pain at the BB&T Center in Sunrise/Ft. Lauderdale

By Celia Almeida | Miami New Times | June 2, 2018

There was a moment about a third of the way into Shania Twain's Friday night concert at the BB&T when reigning the Queen of Country Pop climbed a set of stairs to the top of the staging and jumped into the arms of one of her dancers as the final beat of "That Don't Impress Me Much" hit. She was wearing a leopard-print, double-slit gown that winked at the now iconic-hooded, bare midriff look she wore in the music video for the song. But instead of playing up the vamp of the moment, she laughed and whooped into the microphone when the song came to a close. "This is the first time I got the timing right! I'm so proud of myself," she said. "I did it!" Throughout the course of her life, Twain has learned the hard way that she needs to root for herself before the applause comes in.

At 52 years old, after devastating heartbreak, career-threatening loss of her voice, and a decade-long hiatus from touring, Shania Twain is once again leading an arena tour production that rivals those that pop divas half her age have perfected, and it's damn impressive to behold. Twain is the first to acknowledge the challenges of the feat. "I'm not a dancer," she admits at one moment during the show. Later, as she runs back onto the stage after taking selfies with diehard fans on the floor, she worries out loud whether she might be slowing the show down.

Twain has battled insecurity for years, particularly after a public betrayal and subsequent divorce from her ex-husband and collaborator Mutt Lange. The pair co-wrote all of Twain's music during the height of her career, from her second album, 1995's The Woman In Me through to their split in 2008. When Twain lost Lange, she not only lost her husband, but her primary creative partner, and subsequently, her voice, which weakened partly due to the period of psychological trauma that ensued.

Twain knows that despite her triumphant return to the stage and remarriage, it is impossible to separate her music from those personal struggles, and she doesn't try to. Floating above the audience on a seat made out of a bumper-stickered guitar case, she sang one of the power ballads she and Lange wrote together, "You're Still the One," repurposing the song into a statement of devotion for her fans, who have stuck with her throughout her 25 year career.

Still, it's surprising that Twain is able to sing ballads like "From This Moment On," a heartfelt love song she wrote for a man who began an affair with her best friend 15 years into their marriage. Even more surprisingly, these are the moments when she's at her best during the show. As she hit the song's crescendo, one of her backup dancers could be seen clapping excitedly behind a curtain, and then singing along with closed eyes and outstretched arms.

But it wasn't all a "pity party," a term that she used to introduce the song "Poor Me," off of her latest album Now, her first in 15 years. Twain took the time to acknowledge her past struggles, but she basked in her career highlights with a career-spanning set including "Any Man of Mine" and "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under" from The Woman In Me, "I'm Gonna Getcha Good" from 2002's Up!, and others from Come On Over through to her 2017 comeback album Now. During one transition and costume change, her silhouette danced along to a retrospective of her early music videos.

And while the pain of her past experiences was raw at times, Twain also leaned into the glamorous bombshell role she came to be known for throughout her career. She rocked sequined, fire engine red, thigh-high boots, bejeweled bodysuits, and a top hat and cape as she teased "Man! I Feel Like A Woman" dozens of songs before she finally played it during the encore.

With her backup dancers clad in plaid, front-knotted crop tops, short shorts, and cowboy boots, Twain also embraced the tongue-in-cheek camp that earned her the ire of country purists everywhere and ushered in the modern wave of pop country. Other artists would surely stay as far away as possible from visual reminders of the past criticisms they faced, but for Twain, the past is a necessary part of telling the story.

Watching videos from the first show I figured "I'm Alright" was the same pre-record she had used on Today Show. There is a bit different intonation to the studio track.

And what do you mean by "band in a can" and "def singing" in the upper post?

"Band in a can" means pre-recorded music/instruments. Def singing = definitely singing.

Yep! You're probably right about the track for I'm Alright, then. I haven't listened to it as much as the other songs on the album, so I didn't notice the difference. I also have to say this is the first time I saw her show that I didn't know all the words! Of course I had heard them all on the album, but I have listened to More Fun only a few times. (also excluding Carrie Ann from the Vegas show)

It was a good show, but I didn't realize how much of it would be pre-recorded! It was interesting to see the people working backstage while she was performing on the front of the stage. haha

Review: Shania Twain brings Vegas magic to Amalie Arena in long-awaited Tampa return

By Jay Cridlin | Tampa Bay Times | June 2, 2018

It was a reappearing act straight out of Vegas.

After her drummer banged out the stomp-stomp-clap intro to We Will Rock You/Any Man of Mine for a still-lit Amalie Arena, Shania Twain materialized like a sequiny dream in Section 114, jolting nearly 13,500 fans to their feet to whip out their iPhones.

How'd she make it up there? Had she been hiding up there this whole time? Is that why we haven't seen her in so long?

Fourteen years, one Caesars residency and a not-so-final farewell tour after her last trip to Tampa, Twain delivered a Strip-worthy spectacle of stage magic and classic pop-country on Saturday. She never played here in her 40s, but at 52, she reminded everyone why her big hooks and bold prints had such an impact on the Marens and Kelseas and Kaceys of today.

With neon and cheetah print swirling on screen behind her, Twain showcased the poppier side of her catalog early. Her opening one-two punch of Life's About to Get Good (a blend of reggae and diet EDM) and Come On Over (sunny, summery calypso), before her enormous, shape-shiftng stage thrust her up toward the rafters for the poppy, peppy Up!. Shortly thereafter came two Come On Over classics, Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You) and That Don't Impress Me Much), both modernized with power-poppy, four-on-the-floor caffeine.

"I'm having too much fun already," Twain said after a dancer dipped her back for a final woo! on That Don't Impress Me Much. "The night is just beginning. How much fun are you guys having?"

In truth, Twain didn't have to do much but let the stage morph and her dancers twirl around her; she could focus on singing and letting the shadows of her flowing, peek-a-boo gowns fill the spotlight on the stage.

But when she let her country roots show in the middle of the set, a different Twain came out. The fiddle-fueled Any Man Of Mine positively filled the arena, with Twain digging deep for the key change and kicking out a little shimmy-shake at the end. The Bakersfield-baked Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under? embraced Twain's campier side, while the rollicking Honey I'm Home once again had her kicking up the heels of her cherry-red boots.

On the thanks-for-your-service ballad Soldier, Twain hoisted up into a harness, floating across the arena on a chariot resembling a guitar case. She stayed there, hovering around luxury box level and strumming an acoustic guitar, for You're Still The One, surrounded by swaying phone lights and voices singing along.

The momentum then took a nosedive as Twain gathered a posse of kids and superfans from the crowd to join her up on stage. The kids were tough interviews. One woman's battery died during a selfie. It all went on too long – and this was before the mid-show video montage that served little purpose beyond killing time for another costume change.

But the show must go on for a showman like Shania, and so back she went to her bag of genre-twisting magic tricks: Sultry soul on More Fun, adult-contempo pop on From This Moment On. Lasers, LED-befrocked dancers and Knopfleresque gave I'm Gonna Getcha Good a New Wave feel. And she brought out her opening act, Swiss singer Bastian Baker – think Shawn Mendes meets Thomas Rhett meets Ryan Tedder – for a rocked-up Party of Two and dub-doused Swingin' With My Eyes Closed.

As big a country star as Twain may be – and let's all tip our Stetsons to her shelf of CMA and ACM Entertainer of the Year trophies – her polymathic, genre-hopping style is the reason she's sold 100-million-odd records. Through the tribulations she's endured since her last trip to Tampa – a voice-loss scare, the dissolution of her marriage to Mutt Lange, a retirement tour that didn't stick – she still comes off as giggly and up for anything. You can feel it in all the exclamation-pointy singles she played Saturday: Up! (If You're Not In It For Love) I'm Outta Here! Man! I Feel Like a Woman! Rock this Country!

At the beginning, Twain came out of nowhere. By the end, she had fans hooting and clapping and covered in streamers and confetti, filing out as David Bowie's Let's Dance echoed overhead. We were far from Las Vegas, but the sensations Twain gave us still felt a little like magic.

Here are a couple more Tampa concert reviews.

Shania Twain's NOW Tour Hits the Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL

By Vicky Sullivan | The Sarasota Post | June 4, 2018

Shania Twain has not played a show in Tampa since July of 2004! She’s had a few things on her plate since then. She has been through a very public divorce, contracted Lyme disease, lost her voice and wasn't sure she would sing again! But in triumphant fashion, Shania came back!

She worked hard to find the reason for losing her voice and with doctors help and a voice regimen, her voice came back. She found love again and got married. For the first time in her career she has written an entire album by herself. Thinking her 2015 "Rock this Country" tour was going to be her last, Shania started to write. She had not recorded a record in 15 years. This was such a personal record she has said, that she wanted to perform it live.

On Saturday night in Tampa over 13,000 fans came to the Amalie Arena to see the Queen of Country Pop!  Music royalty she is, Ms. Twain has sold over a hundred million records! The crowd was adorned in the latest fashion in cowboy boots and hats.

Shania made her entrance to the tune of Queen's "We Will Rock You" with a solo drummer pounding to the beat. She made her way down through the screaming crowd, walking the floor shaking hands with fans in an evening gown and a cowboy hat.

From the opening number you knew this was going to be a big production and why wouldn’t it be. Big screen graphics, dancers, full band, background singers and great lighting. Shania gave her fans a two-hour show of her hits and new music from NOW! A duet "Party of Two" with her opening act Bastian Baker is a crowd pleaser. Baker has had some hit records in Switzerland and also served as a coach on The Voice Belgium.

Flying high above the crowd on a guitar case strumming a guitar to her 1998 megabit “Still the One” is a touching moment of the show she devotes to the fans. There’s also plenty of high-energy fun with the dancers and background singers that support Shania with "That Don't Impress Me Much". At 52, Shania looks great and her many costume changes add dramatic flair to the show

For the encore, was that 1999 worldwide top 10 Grammy-winning hit, Man! I Feel Like a Woman! Which does not disappoint with Shania in knee-high boots! Considered a female anthem it was being sung loud and proud by all the women in the arena!

Hopefully Shania does not consider this a final tour. As her newest single and opening tune says, "Life is About to Get Good" and after all she has been through, it’s about time!

Shania Twain's international appeal was in full force at Tampa's Amalie Arena

The pop-country superstar made her first Tampa Bay appearance in more than a decade.

By Ray Roa, Kamran Malik | Creative Loafing Tampa | June 4, 2018

It should’ve been obvious when a woman started waving a Swiss flag during an opening set by Euro-pop superstar Bastian Baker, but seemingly everyone in the world is a Shania Twain fan. Still, it might’ve been easy for Bay area fans to forget that. The 52-year-old songwriter hasn’t visited this neck of the woods in over a decade. Twain last played Tampa’s Amalie Arena, then-called St. Pete Times Forum, on a 2004 tour celebrating her 2002 LP, Up!, but that album ended up being her last before a 13-year hiatus that found her dealing with dysphonia brought on by Lyme disease.

On Saturday, in front of 13,500 fans, Twain made her return to the stage in support of Now, her first album of new material in 15 years. She didn’t waste a second, either. Entering the arena from the breezeway around Amalie’s lower bowl, Twain made her way through the crowd, hi-fived fans and quickly kicked into a Warhol-colored take on “Life’s About To Get Good” from that new album. For a moment, amidst the neon blues and yellows, it seemed like Twain’s once-sterling vocal would get lost in a mix heavy on bass and the voices of her six backup singers, but that worry quickly resolved itself. Twain was all smiles and already in a new costume by the time “That Don’t Impress Me Much” rolled around just 30 minutes into the set. She even felt carefree enough to re-do the song’s ending, which found her getting dipped by one of her dancers. “I’ve only got this ending right, like, twice, on this whole tour,” she laughed.

After breezing through the tropi-rock of another new one (“Let’s Kiss and Make Up”), Twain gave Amalie its first big arena-rock moment during the old-school shuffle of “Any Man of Mine,” where her velvet red sh*tkickers led the band through a straight-up square dance. Reaching back to that 1997 hit (and “Honey I’m Home” from the same album, Come On Over) was a reminder that in her heyday, Twain reigned supreme over pop-country. And while pumps and platforms outnumbered cowboy boots in the crowd, Twain seemed eager to please everyone in the crowd. Some of the biggest cheers came during a mid-set, piano-driven performance of Now slow-burner “Soldier,” which found Twain sitting in a guitar case and suspended over the crowd while scenes from the 2017 film Thank You For Your Service played in the background.

In April, Twain, a Canadian, famously gained some friends and foes after saying she would’ve voted for Donald Trump had she been able to vote in the 2016 election. Twain quickly apologized for that statement, and strayed away from politics during this performance, opting instead for hit after hit after hit. She even had to deploy a four-song music video medley to squeeze all of her big records into the 22-song, two-hour long set. At the center of the show, however, were her fans, who’ve been clamoring for a return for some time now.

At one point, in the run-up to a soaring version of another 1997 hit (“From This Moment”), Twain walked a handful of fans up to the stage and introduced them to the crowd. One was a young girl from Argentina who spoke very little English. Another was even younger and was carried on stage, barefoot, by her mom. None were more impressive (and impressed) than the cowboy hat-wearing 20-something who just stood there, starstruck and in awe of the singer.

“I was born and raised right here, but you’re one of my childhood heroes,” he gushed.

The kid was probably four years old when the “Woman In Me” video came out, yet there he was, head over heels standing onstage, all smiles and in full disbelief. Shania, as sunny and ebullient as she was in those '90s videos, looked just as impressed with the fan.

In an era of 15-minute pop stars — where fame is more fleeting than ever and fans tend to be fickle at best — that devotion, despite years between albums, was the most impressive part of the night. Twain had a front row seat to that faithfulness on Friday, and even she seemed surprised to see that, to her fans, she’s she’ll always be the one — forever and always.

Things To Do In Dallas This Week: June 4 - 7

Wednesday, June 6

Shania Twain is at the AAC behind an album that chronicles her husband’s affair with a close friend. The songs are all over the map, emotionally and sonically. (In a sad gesture of forced calm, even some reggae tones appear.) Months ago, her PR reps were all about scheduling interviews ahead of the show. The Canadian country singer has since decided not to do press. It’s probably because she finally weighed in on the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

https://www.dmagazine.com/frontburner/2018/06/things-to-do-in-dallas-this-week-june-4-7/

***Shania did a lot of local TV interviews in mid April the week before the Donald Trump controversy. It sounds like she cancelled all other interviews after that.

SHANIA ROCKED ATLANTA TONIGHT! What a great concert! Although people were not into the new music at all. Whenever she would sing a song from NOW, a lot of people went to get a drink or go to the bathroom. And yes, she does sing over a live pre-recorded backtrack 98% of the time. And like Dubyalicious said, "I'm Alright" and "Poor Me" are basically lip-synched. They sound just like the album.

Concert review: Shania Twain brought honesty and warmth to Infinite Energy Arena show

By Melissa Ruggieri | Atlanta Journal-Constitution | June 5, 2018

Back in the late-‘90s/early-‘00s, a Shania Twain concert consisted primarily of the perfectly coiffed singer robotically circling the stage and signing autographs while half-heartedly singing pieces of her radio hits.

Age, wisdom, a few seriously crummy life experiences (dysphonia sidelined her voice, Mutt Lange sidelined her dignity) and perhaps a three-year stint in Las Vegas have transformed Twain as a performer.

At a packed Infinite Energy Arena on Monday, Twain, making her first Atlanta appearance since her not-really-a-farewell-after-all tour in 2015, charmed from the moment she made a surprise entrance from the back of the arena.

Kicking off the two-hour-plus show with the only notable song from her long-awaited “Now” album, the pleasantly chugging “Life’s About to Get Good,” Twain and a phalanx of backup singers grinned through the bubbly anthem as stacks of lighted cubes seesawed behind them.

No one has ever sought out Twain’s music for its depth, but she’s always been adept at presenting a slick, fun package.

That hasn’t changed.

What has evolved is her voice – huskier now not by choice, but in a way that gives a hint of heft to older material such as the perky pop of “Up!” and her endless string of stomp-and-clappers, “Don’t Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)” and “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” among the early arrivals.

At 52, Twain continues to age beautifully, but she also hasn’t forsaken a hint of naughtiness. She can still admirably pull off a wardrobe closet including a sequined gown with a slit up to her waist, red knee-high boots, sheer black everything and a cat suit, and look fabulous in all of it.

She stayed busy throughout the show, and employs a stage crew that barely took a break from shuttling staircases, unfurling curtains and transporting the platform bearing band MVP, drummer Elijah Wood, to various areas of the stage.

During many songs, it sounded as if Twain’s band – whose members popped on and off of the stage – were augmented by a track. But that electronic assistance only amplified the crispness of her Holy Trinity of Candy-Coated Twang – “Any Man of Mine,” “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under” and “Honey, I’m Home.”

Throughout the night, Twain chatted frequently with the crowd. She called the gut-wrenching, yet inspirational, account of her marital strife, “Poor Me,” “part of my own personal healing” and before the rousing “I’m Alright,” reeled off platitudes about lights at the end of tunnels with such sincerity that you forgave their bedroom-poster simplicity.

When she coasted above the audience on a swing to the B-stage at the back of the venue, she joked about the numerous young audience members “who were 5” when she became popular – a fitting lead-in to “You’re Still the One,” which she strummed on her guitar.

Back on the main stage, she introduced a retrospective of her videos (a clever way to cover some of the songs that didn’t make it into the live set) before belting “From This Moment On” as purple lasers rotated around her.

Through it all – a humorously muffed dance step at the end of “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” a few sweet interactions with fans in the front rows (“I’m a mess!” she yelped after taking a selfie…um, sure, Shania), a spirited duet with show opener Bastian Baker on the glittering “Party for Two” – Twain grinned with the kind of laid-back joy that can’t be faked.

Bottom line, she’s been through hell and isn’t afraid to express herself anymore, whether in song or on stage. And that’s admirable.

Shania Twain Shares Behind-the-Scenes Footage of 'Epic' NOW Tour Choreography: Exclusive Video

By Morgan Enos | Billboard | June 5, 2018

Shania Twain has always pulled out the stops with her live dancing and choreography ever since her commercial breakout in the mid-’90s. Now, we can see exactly how the magic happens in an intimate, backstage setting -- all thanks to this exclusive in-depth video from Shania’s stage crew from the ongoing NOW Tour.

The footage contains spots from Shania’s assistant choreographer KC Monnie, NOW tour dancers Asiel and Hayley and Twain herself, who speak candidly about what goes into the show and how they hope fans receive it. Monnie calls it a "choreography heavy" show, not just because Twain dances her way through every number, but also due to the awe-inspiring elements on the stage and the dancers that move along with her.

"It's pretty epic," he says in the clip. "[Fans] are going to go on a wild ride with Shania Twain."

Twain furthers the hype by comparing the show to "fantasyland," sharing that her it's just as magical for her as she hopes it does for those who see it. “I’m just imagining and dreaming about the show the fans will see.”

See the full list of cities the NOW Tour is hitting here, and watch the exclusive look into Shania’s stage process below.
