She's one of the best-selling country music artists of all time who famously put her career aside for 15 years.
And now Shania Twain has opened up about the hiatus due to a battle with Lyme disease.
The 52-year-old revealed she thought her career was over after she unknowingly contracted the illness and began to have voice troubles.
'I never thought I would sing again,' she said in a sneak preview for 60 Minutes.
Shania also opened up on the heartbreak she suffered after discovering her husband of fifteen years Robert Lange was allegedly cheating on her as her condition was worsening in 2008.
'How many more traumatic moments can I take?' she said.
'I wasn't just broken, I was shattered.'
The That Don't Impress Me Much hitmaker also referred to her ex-husband's betrayal as an '11 out of ten'.
However in a bizarre twist, Shania did find love again in the form of Marie-Anne's own husband Frederic Thiebaud, 60 Minutes reported.
Now the five-time Grammy winner is on the comeback trail - as she is set to star in upcoming film Trading Paint with John Travolta, as well as releasing new solo album 'Now' next week.
Shania rose to number one on the Billboard charts with the release of her last album Up! in 2002.
Soon after that she disappeared from the limelight, blaming her crushing marriage woes to Robert - who she shares son Eja, 15, with - as the reason why, and most recently her battle with Lyme disease.
"The light went on in my head. I said, 'Yes, I’ve had Lyme disease, but what on Earth would that have to do with my voice?'" For ten long years Shania shied from the stage while several doctors tried to figure out why she had lost her voice. The finally she discovered she was suffering partial paralysis in her vocal chords - all caused by Lyme Disease. #60Mins
