Shania Twain in the Bahamas for "Shark Week" on Discovery Channel.
A while back I was lucky enough to head to the Bahamas for a shoot with Shania Twain. She was one of the celebrities that was part of Shark Week that year and I was excited to meet her. The shoot was actually a bit more challenging than we thought due to some weather that came up and I was forced to improvise. But in the end I think we ended up getting some good work. It was a little intimidating when you have someone like Shania who has been shot by some of the best photographers in the world. Especially as her manager stood next to my client monitor at the start and asked to see the few shots as I started. But once he saw what I was doing, he waved Shania over, showed her the images, and told her this was good stuff. And then we were off! Whew!
As a side note, strictly from a behind-the-scenes professional photography logistics standpoint, I always play music for talent while shooting them. It adds tons of life and energy to the shoot. And I always make a playlist based on who I am shooting. With a musician talent, the question is whether to include their own music or not. So should I play Shania when shooting Shania?! I don't think so. Bringing music that doesn't carry any of the personal emotions that their own music might have with them helps keep the set fun and fresh.

I had an excellent time filming the Shark Week promo commercial with Shania Twain, in the Bahamas for the Discovery Channel. But what happened behind the scenes made it even more interesting!!
