RE: Shania Twain returning to Las Vegas! - "Let's Go!" residency

I was thinking today and realized after watching most videos of the Let's Go! Residency the footage shot on Fremont Street was never used in the show. Any guess what this footage is being used for? And what this new project could be?

***My guess is she's attending (maybe performing) the Grammys in Los Angeles on January 26 and receiving some type of achievement award. The night before Shania will be the honoree at the annual Nevada Ballet Theatre Black & White Ball at Caesars Palace where she will be named Nevada Ballet Theatre Woman of the Year.

It doesn't sound like Shania's "secret" is about the Grammys afterall. There'll be some kind of announcement on Jan. 26.

Vegas @Vegas

We’re excited for #LetsGoVegas! You’re still the one … and one important piece of something BIG we can’t wait to share with everyone on Jan. 26! What’s it all about? Stay tuned!

Here is an article from last week. It sounds like Shania's secret is related to a new Las Vegas tourism slogan being unveiled on January 26.

Get used to Las Vegas slogan: ‘What Happens Here, Only Happens Here’

By John Katsilometes | Las Vegas Review-Journal | November 24, 2019

On Tuesday night, Steven Tyler cut from Aerosmith’s raucous show at Park Theater for a commercial break.

“When I say, ‘What Happens Here,’ you say, ‘Only Happens Here!’ ” Tyler told the packed house. Tyler asked this, by my count, four times — including once near the end of the show, with onstage cameramen trained on him and the crowd.

The effort, and the legendary rock band, is reportedly in the upcoming campaign to unveil “What Happens Here Only Happens Here” as Las Vegas’s new tourism slogan. This is an upgrade of the city’s “What Happens Here, Stays Here” campaign.

That phrase, the result of a partnership between the LVCVA and R&R Partners, was unleashed on the public in 2003.

Hints peppering social media indicate a full rollout of the new slogan on Jan. 26. LVCVA officials have not responded to inquiries about the updated branding effort, but here is what we know:

Tyler uncorked “What Happens Here, Only Happens Here” to a theater of full-throated fans on Tuesday night. The band’s IG page followed with a message, “You know we oly do ‘Amazing’ things. Which is why we’ve teamed up with #Vegas to create the next big thing for the city … Find out more January 26th, 2020!”

Shania Twain recorded her own promotional clip on Fremont Street and at the Palms last Monday, riding a horse along the FSE promenade as fans observed from behind metal barriers. Twain didn’t specify the reason for all the hubub, but did tag the LVCVA’s @Vegas account on social media, adding, “Vegas is full of secrets … I just learned another Stay tuned 1/26/20.” The @vegas official account responded, “You’re still the one … and one important piece of something BIG we can’t wait to share with everyone on Jan. 26! What’s it all about? Stay tuned!”

Lady Gaga bandleader Brian Newman, too, teased to the Jan. 26 date — he made a quick trip to Las Vegas from New York last week, posting an IG video as he left.

And, those familiar with the campaign report Zappos Theater resident headliners Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera have also participated.

More tangible info about this Vegas messaging is found on Linkedin, oddly enough. One Daphne Baxter, a brand and content strategist with New York agency Idea Loft, has posted in her profile: “More recently, Daphne refreshed Las Vegas’s iconic ‘What Happens Here Stays Here’ positioning to “What Happens Here Only Happens Here” in an effort to inject new intrigue for the brand and broaden its appeal to a more diverse audience.’ “

Consider our interest piqued, and our expectations lofty, for Jan. 26.

Shania Twain Gives An Inside Look At Her Glamorous Vegas Residency Fashion After Sold-Out Opening

Shania Twain just sold out the first week of her ‘Let’s Go’ residency in Las Vegas, and we’ve got an EXCLUSIVE look at the ‘glamorous’ styles that made her Sin City show an extravaganza.

By Jason Brow | Hollywood Life | December 18, 2019

“‘Let’s Go’ represents high-energy, ‘making-things-happen,’ ‘let’s get the party started,’” says Shania Twain in an EXCLUSIVE behind-the-scenes look at her new show, Shania Twain “Let’s Go!” The Las Vegas Residency. The top-selling female country artist of all time just sold out the opening week at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. While the 5-time Grammy winner is known for such hits as “You’re Still The One,” “Man! I Feel Like A Woman,” and “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” she’s also knowns as an international style icon. So, to properly pull off a Vegas residency worthy of the name Shania, she needed the right costumes. In an EXCLUSIVE clip, Shania detailed how each of her outfits fit perfectly into the new production.

“The colors and the mood of every look are inspired by where the show is at, musically,” she says in the video. “I’m taking bits and pieces from everywhere. I’m taking rock ‘n’ roll, old Hollywood, just pulling together a real eclectic style.” Though her style in “Let’s Go” might be eclectic, she stays “honest” to her brand by including an “element of femininity and elegance.”

For those who didn’t make it to the opening week of Shania’s residency, don’t fret. She’ll be back at the Zappos Theatre from March 13-28 and from May 20 to June 6. Tickets are on sale now, and speaking of which: $1 from every ticket sold goes to her charity, Shania Kids Can. The organization offers academic support to children, while also providing one-on-one consultations, group activities, and meal programs (where needed.)

Early reviews indicate that this new show will be the hottest ticket in town. “Shania Twain ‘Let’s Go!’ The Vegas Residency” comes five years after she took Sin City by storm with the wildly successful “Shania: Still the One” at Ceaser’s Palace. The new show, dubbed a “jackpot of hits” by Rolling Stone, follows through on her promise for a “high energy” romp. There were also plenty of instances of audience participation – with several guests being invited up on stage for a “country can-can” to a faux romantic dinner, where Shania serenaded fans with her hit, “From This Moment On.”

This residency is already a triumph, considering how close Shania came to losing her voice. She famously contracted Lyme Disease in 2003, and the illness nearly silenced her for good. “I had to have an operation that was very intense, and it’s an open-throat operation, very different from a vocal cord operation,” she said while speaking to Extra in June. “I had to have two of them, so that was really, really, really tough, and I survived that — meaning emotionally I survived — and am just ready to keep going.”

“When you’re a singer, and it’s your voice, it is just a terrible, terrible feeling,” she added. “It was a great, great loss, so I had to come to terms with losing the voice that I had and rediscovering my new one.” Yet, that “making-things-happen” spirit never left Shania, and she roared back to music in 2017 with her first record in fifteen years, Now. And now, she’s back in Las Vegas with a can’t-miss show.

Shania Twain Is Still the One in Return Las Vegas Residency

By Melinda Sheckells | Billboard | December 18, 2019

shania-vegas-letsgo-interview-billboard120719-1

Shania Twain’s new Las Vegas residency “Let’s Go” at Zappos Theater in Planet Hollywood wraps up its first run Wednesday (Dec. 18), but the pop-country legend is already gearing up for her return dates in March. The show has been an all-around sales and critical success with its launch timed to coincide with the National Finals Rodeo.

“It is a wonderful the experience of not moving around every day [like a tour] and also the luxury of having a production that is only possible in the stationary environment,” she says. “It's a real community here as far as all the people that work the shows. They appreciate and respect the artists.”

Twain is the top-selling female country artist of all time with more than 90 million records sold worldwide and also serves as creative director of the show, a process she describes as a “huge operation” with a seven-piece band and eight male dancers.

“This is the most top to bottom creative direction that I've ever done. I can't design the clothes until I design the set ideas and the looks, the colors and how they play off each other. They have to work together. What the dancers wear has to work together, the lighting, the sets, everything in the right and necessary order,” she says. “It's almost like the last thing I do is perform. It's the final role and by the time that comes around, I know the show so well that's the easy part.”

Creative direction is a role she learned while making those unforgettable videos in the ’90s for songs like “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!,” a training ground for putting together her Las Vegas residencies. Twain was previously a headliner at Caesars Palace’s The Colosseum from 2012 to 2014.

“Videos were my greatest experience. It's a crash course, you've got 24 hours and you spend weeks preparing. I would write the stories and then I just learned from others the order of events of how these things come together and now after all these years I'm capable of directing myself and pulling the people together and being a leader.”

Much of the chatter on “Let’s Go!” has been linked to the parade of amazing costumes that Twain wears throughout. Known as a fashion icon and celebrated at Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame as such, Twain prances the stage in everything from pink feathers to a liquid sequin mermaid gown. Twain dazzles in eight different costumes designed by Marc Bouwer.

“Every outfit is directed from the story. I first put the set together, the song list, that's the most important thing. The flow of the show. And just pacing myself and the audience too, like I want them to be able to sit down and, and go with the dynamics,” she says. “And then the wardrobe comes next. For the mermaid dress, I wanted a look that was very liquid and very opalescent [because the lighting mimics a sunset]. I directed the look and then the designer, Mark Bouwer found the fabric.”

While it is with these creative pursuits that she is in her element, Twain looks forward to the next decade as one where she will continue to live in the truth she has discovered over the last 10 years.

“I'm now rolling along in a very good tempo of creativity, of family, connection and community around me, of who belongs there and who just doesn't, and making those distinctions,” she says. “The last years of my life have been about stabilizing, re-stabilizing myself, emotionally, re-stabilizing family, reassessing my values, my personal priorities, and really trimming off all the fat. My life now is quite small and, but very fulfilling and rewarding creatively, personally.”

And next, Twain is ready for some challenges and also rallies the country music industry to do the same.

“I’m feeling courageous and more confident. The next 10 years is about really going up those hills, I feel that momentum,” she says. “I'm feeling fearless. I'm not going to beat myself up for my mistakes. I'm unapologetic about it, I feel really good about it, I think there's a beauty about aging. [The women of country] we just have to be bold and courageous. There's too many great women that have come up in the last five years who have not been heard.”

Here is another behind-the-scenes video. This time from Rolling Stone.

Watch Shania Twain Rehearse the Choreography for Her Las Vegas Show

Performer’s “Shania Twain ‘Let’s Go!’ The Vegas Residency” runs through June

By Joseph Hudak | Rolling Stone | December 19, 2019

Shania Twain kicked off her “Shania Twain ‘Let’s Go!’ The Vegas Residency” earlier this month, delivering a weekend of sold-out shows that touched on the songs that defined not only her career, but an era of country music. She wrapped up the first run of shows this week, but will return to the Zappos Theater inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in March to continue a residency that runs through June.

In this exclusive video, Twain takes fans behind the scenes of the show as she works up the choreography with her dancer-turned-choreographer Asiel Hardison. Dressed casually in a flannel shirt, Twain works with Hardison and the troupe to come up with the routines for each song, including “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”

“Every element of the show has a level of choreography and staging: the sets, the stagehands, the band, they have their own staging,” says Twain. “The last thing I do is the performance choreography.”

“She knows her fans. They’re just here to party,” says Hardison

“I’m a great audience member,” Twain says. “I know how I want the audience to feel.”

The “Let’s Go!” production includes some of the performer’s best-known hits, like “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!,” “You’re Still the One,” and “Forever and for Always,” which she dedicates to Prince. There are also elaborate set pieces, including an onstage saloon, and a number of costume changes.

The show returns for two more engagements: March 13th through 28th, and May 20th through June 6th. Tickets are on sale via Ticketmaster, with one dollar from every ticket sold going to Twain’s Shania Kids Can charity.

Part 3 of the behind-the-scenes series.

See How Shania Twain's Epic Las Vegas Residency Came Together: Exclusive

By Taylor Weatherby | Billboard | December 23, 2019

Shania Twain kicked off her second Las Vegas residency earlier this month, bringing a brand new show to the Strip featuring all the hits and leopard print a Shania stan could want.

The country superstar was heavily involved in the creation of her latest residency, titled Let's Go!, mostly because she's a self-proclaimed "nonstop coming-up-with-ideas kind of person." Twain is giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the intensive process behind Let's Go! in a new video, premiering on Billboard today (Dec. 23).

"The biggest change for me this time around is that I already know the city," Twain says in the vid. "I feel like I'm going to be able to take advantage of the environment more.

The two-minute clip shows Twain mulling over a series of images portraying her Vegas stage, which she put together herself and presented to her creative producer Cory Fitzgerald and content designer Tom Colbourne in a PowerPoint. "It really does tell a lot of the story she wants to tell, the stories of the songs, the stories of her life," Fitzgerald says of the show.

Let's Go! will return to Planet Hollywood's Zappos Theater in March, with Twain performing on March 13, 14, 18, 20, 21, 25, 27 and 28. The show will then continue in May before wrapping in June, with performances on May 20, 22, 23, 27, 29 and 30 as well as June 3, 5 and 6.

Shania Twain’s new Las Vegas Strip dates in line with National Finals Rodeo

By John Katsilometes | Las Vegas Review-Journal | February 6, 2020

Shania Twain’s Zappos Theater party will continue through the fall. Her “Let’s Go” show, which features Twain Saloon as one of its backdrops, also will two-step with the National Finals Rodeo in December.

Twain has added 14 dates to her spirited production at Planet Hollywood, beginning Aug. 21 and continuing through the first week of September. She returns for six shows Dec. 2-12 (tickets for the new dates are onsale at 10 a.m. Feb. 14, and those already on the books in March, May and June, are available at ticketmaster.com/shaniavegas or at the Planet Hollywood box office).

Twain’s December dates are in line with the annual NFR, which drew 171,000 fans to Las Vegas in 2019, and sells out all 10 shows at the Thomas & Mack Center. Country artists and parties are front and center in Las Vegas during the NFR week, and Twain attended the 2019 event.

Twain’s announcement arrives on the 25th anniversary of “The Woman in Me,” her second studio album. The album has sold 20 million copies, and is peppered with such Twain favorites as “Any Man of Man,” “(If You’re Not in It for Love) I’m Outta Here!” and “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?”

Those songs, along with such hits as “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!,” “You’re Still The One,” and “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” are highlights in “Let’s Go.”

Twain works the room freely as she’s backed by a seven-piece band and her octet of male dancers. In an interview prior to her receiving the Nevada Ballet Theatre Woman of the Year honor in January, Twain said, “I’m just appreciating, more than ever, my ability to get up there and run around and just be athletic. I’m really enjoying that, the interaction with the dancers, involving myself in the choreography and staging.

“When I get on the stage I am presenting, top to bottom, something that is me and it’s so satisfying.”

It was just announced Keith Urban will be hosting the ACM Awards on Sunday, April 5 in Las Vegas. Shania's next leg of her residency is March 13-28 (8 shows). I wonder if she'll stick around for another week and attend the awards.

Shania Twain Talks Legacy of 'Man! I Feel Like a Woman' Ahead of Las Vegas Residency

The country music icon will head back to Sin City next week for the next leg of her "Let's Go!" residency at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood

By Jeff Nelson | PEOPLE | March 6, 2020

Shania Twain is returning to Vegas — and she’s doin’ it in style!

The country music icon will head back to Sin City next week for the next leg of her “Let’s Go!” residency at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood. Before she hits the stage, Twain shared an exclusive behind-the-scenes video with PEOPLE in which she opens up about the enduring legacy of her 1999 hit “Man! I Feel Like a Woman.”

“If there’s any song that has ever affected culture in a way that I’ve ever written, it’s ‘Man! I Feel like a Woman.’ I can’t take credit for knowing that in the moment of writing it, but it sure does matter,” Twain, 54, says of her beloved hit. “‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman’ has taken on a life of its own entirely. There’s so much social relevance, like an anthem for many people. You can be a really strong, independent woman and still be playful or whatever you want to be on the outside — and be it with conviction.”

Twain adds: “If you want to be taken seriously, you need to present yourself seriously — but not to the point that you have to abandon who you are. ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman’ does say all of that.”

In addition to “Man! I Feel Like a Woman,” Twain performs all her smash singles, from “That Don’t Impress Me Much” to “You’re Still the One” at her Vegas show.

Twain kicked off her “Let’s Go!” residency last December, and the Nashville star will hit the stage for a string of dates in March, May, June, August, September and December. (Click here for a complete list of dates.)

The singer-songwriter took a respite from the spotlight in recent years to focus on motherhood and manage a battle with Lyme disease, which nearly cost her her voice. After undergoing open-throat surgery, she’s happier and healthier than she’s been in years.

“It would have killed me not to be able to ever sing again,” she says. “I wasn’t going to let my life be over if I wasn’t going to be able to sing again,  but I would have been very sad and I would have mourned that forever. But it is a great love of mine and a passion — that’s what got me back on stage again, because I could. Now I have more appreciation for it than ever.”

This Coronavirus situation is serious. The NBA, other sporting events, etc have been suspended and President Trump has canceled his trip to Las Vegas. It wouldn't surprise me if Shania's show and others are canceled at some point.

Starting Friday, flights from Europe (excluding the UK & Ireland) to the U.S. have been banned for 30 days. So fans who have tickets for this next leg of 8 shows (maybe) won't be able to go.

Lionel Richie just canceled his Vegas shows. Shania really needs to cancel her show as well for the safety of everyone. You can't have 4000 people jammed into a theater not knowing who may have the Coronavirus. Everything across the U.S. is shutting down.

It looks like Shania is going on with the show. Absolutely crazy! How irresponsible!

Trump just declared a National Emergency and said avoid large crowds. I'd like to know why this show is still going on. Must be the money Zappos doesn't want to lose. AWFUL! Shania should say she isn't performing. PERIOD!

Okay. This proves Shania can cancel her show if she wants to! Kelly Clarkson has postponed her show at Zappos until the Summer. This pisses me off more!

Based on the huge backlash Shania is receiving tonight, I expect she will do the same.

“ROD STEWART: THE HITS.” will be performing this evening (March 13) and tomorrow (March 14). The residency will be rescheduling performances planned for March 18, 20 and 21.

I have no idea what Shania is doing and thinking. Last night she said "I would have done this show with 5 people. It doesn't matter." That is so disappointing she feels that way. Like she just doesn't care about the fans and isn't taking this Coronavirus outbreak seriously.

Okay.. I live for this website. And I understand where you are coming from in terms of corona. BUT.. I have been waiting since December for last night and tonight to happen. I work so hard to afford the ticket and trip to Vegas, and I am so understanding and respectful for those coming internationally who can't get here. But I would have been heartbroken if Shania didn't push through, like the absolute "soldier" she is, with a serious ankle injury and all.. Last night, she put on one of the best shows I've ever seen, and definitely of this residency. The crowd was still packed, and isn't it incumbent upon us as fans to support Shania and each other?? I am SO thrilled to get to go again tonight, as who knows when all this will open back up again?

I just thought we were all crazy Shania fans who, if there was an apocalypse, would want to be at a Shania show, and I'm so psyched to see her again, in less than 2 hours now! Not to mention who care about Zappos loss but Shania built this whole set, she was the creative director / is the creative director of the show. She brings every song to life, it's incredible. And not knowing when she'll get to do it again is it really so bad she's following through with shows last night and tonight?

Shania isn't putting ANYONE at risk, I am going because I want to, no one is forcing me. How could you say Shania is putting people at risk? Yes people bought non-refundable tickets (as did I), but at the end of the day we are responsible for our own choices. Shania can't make those for us and thank God she is performing as tonight may be the last show until the May leg or even possibly August, no knows at this point I suppose.

Okay I hope you guys don't attack me, just sharing my perspective and I don't know what I would do without this site, it is how I stay up to date on Shania since I'm 8ish years old (now 29)...

THANK YOU!!!! I completely agree. And no one should attack you. For “fans” ... people love to attack Shania on here. She isn’t putting anyone at risk. People make their own choices. And seriously... WASH YOUR HANDS!!! Is Shania going to stop people from doing that? Don’t think so 🤷🏻‍♀️

You can also get a refund. Hopefully the people who couldn't make it to the shows on Friday and Saturday will now be able to get a refund also.

Message from Caesars Entertainment (which includes Planet Hollywood): All ticketed live entertainment held in Caesars Entertainment venues company-wide will suspend performances beginning this evening, Sunday, March 15, through March 31, 2020. Refunds and exchanges for affected dates are available at the point of purchase. We are taking these bold measures now and look forward to welcoming guests back to enjoy world-class entertainment experiences as soon as we are able. We thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through these challenging circumstances.

There's been a lot of confusion since Shania's "Let's Go!" announcement yesterday. Most fans think you have to wait and go to the rescheduled date. You don't. You can either exchange the tickets for another show or just get a refund. And as far as TicketMaster (or where ever you purchased your tickets) telling you NO REFUNDS because the shows have been "rescheduled" and not "cancelled", that is not the case. Refunds must be given! Here is a copy of my interaction with Caesars Entertainment.

Has anyone successfully reached TicketMaster to request a refund?  I have tried on the website, which doesn't give me the option as it says it should.  I then also do not have a Chat option which the help section says I should.  I then called three different times and after going through the ridiculous phone tree, am disconnected immediately after it says transferring to a representative.

Fans are saying TicketMaster still isn't issuing refunds. Obviously Caesars Entertainment hasn't provided the appropriate instructions. I would print out my conversation above and go in person to a TicketMaster outlet.
