It looks like the airdates of the "LIVE With Kelly And Ryan" shows in Las Vegas (including Shania's episode) are up in the air due to TV coverage of the impeachment hearings.

Las Vegas expected to boost energy of ‘Live With Kelly and Ryan’

Kelly Ripa has bid farewell to two co-hosts and welcomed a third since the last time her morning show came to Las Vegas.

Some things, though, remain the same.

In 2010, “Live With Regis and Kelly” hosted Howie Mandel during a round of tapings at the Encore Theater. The previous year, also at Encore, the show’s guests included Carrot Top and cast members from Cirque du Soleil’s “Love.”

When “Live With Kelly and Ryan” records four shows Sunday and Monday at Paris Las Vegas, Ripa and Ryan Seacrest will be joined by all three.

Also on the schedule, Christina Aguilera and Shania Twain will talk about their residency shows, while magicians Criss Angel and Mat Franco will perform.

“People are interested in seeing them, and not everyone makes it to Vegas, so it gives them a little taste of what you have there,” executive producer and frequent on-air foil Michael Gelman says of the local flair that will fill the four shows. (Originally scheduled to air Monday through Thursday, the broadcast of those episodes has been thrown into disarray by coverage of the impeachment hearings.)

Ripa, though, has another Las Vegas headliner on her mind.

“I can’t believe it’s been nine years since our last trip to Vegas,” she said in an email. “This year, we are hopeful that Gelman will finally achieve his dream job of being an Elvis impersonator.”

Gelman, who’s been running “Live” since 1987 and the days when it was known as “The Morning Show,” says they’ve been looking to bring the show back to Las Vegas for a while now, and this trip has been in the planning stages for the past year. He was here a couple of weeks back with a group on a scouting trip. Various members of the production have been trickling in over the past week.

“You know, it’s hard to go on remote,” he says. “Here in the studio, everything is very much the same. It’s a very controlled environment. You’ve got the exact crew, and everyone knows where everyone’s supposed to be, and it’s such a tight organization. But when you take it on the road, you’re literally creating a TV studio, and you’re doing things that you’ve never done before. It’s just a hundred times more likely that things go wrong.”

Gelman says he’s looking forward to some of that chaos, as well as the energy that will come from the audience. It’s the difference between the 230 fans the show’s studio can accommodate and the 1,300 who can fill the Paris Theater.

“They’re sort of used to us here,” he says of the show’s New York base. “But when you go somewhere else, you’re getting to connect with your fans that maybe have been watching you for years, but maybe you haven’t even been in that area for 10 years. So they’re really voracious and happy to see you. … There’s a lot of energy and excitement, and we love it.”

Seacrest echoes that sentiment about the energy.

“Kelly and I are so excited to hit the road again, this time landing in Las Vegas where everything is larger than life,” he said in a statement. “The energy there is electric, and I know Vegas will create an unforgettable few days for our show.”

Turns out Shania Twain’s random lunch and dinner dates make for great morning TV.

Twain told “Live With Kelly And Ryan” co-hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest on Monday at Paris Theater that she is in informal contact with at least a pair of long-running Vegas headliners.

Seated on a sofa across from Twain, Seacrest opened the dialogue with, “So many people have residencies here, and work here all the time, and we have Carrot Top coming on the show. I picture all of you guys getting together and having tea …”

Ripa cut in with, “Do you guys have a secret club?”

Twain laughed and said, “There is something about this town, it has a very casual feel. Carrot Top will call me up and say, ‘Let’s have lunch …’”

Ripa jumped in again, “Wait. Carrot Top calls you on the phone?”

“Of course!” Twain said.

“Does he have a prop phone?” Ripa asked.

Twain went on, “David Copperfield and I will go out, at about midnight or 1 o’clock in the morning. I really like David, and he’s hungry so I have to cook him something.”

“You cook for David Copperfield?” Ripa asked, again to laughter.

“The meat has to be very well-cooked,” Twain continued, undaunted.

“It has to be well-cooked?” Ripa said, her voice rising. “Doesn’t he, like, cook it with his eyeballs?”

Not quite.

Twain was a guest to promote her upcoming residency at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood, which opens Dec. 6. She was among the guests on “Live With Kelly and Ryan” during the quartet of shows taped Sunday and Monday at Paris Theater. The otherwise moribund theater was enlivened by the full-scale production (a stage set adorned with Caesars-styled statues and a Rat Pack-styled bar) and four full houses.

Magician headliner Mat Franco of Linq Hotel, Chrissy Metz of “This Is Us” and Howie Mandel recorded two shows Sunday. Monday it was Twain, along with a performance from Wynn Las Vegas production “Le Reve”; and also Christina Aguilera, followed by Carrot Top.

The Metz/Franco show aired Monday morning. The show featuring Mandel, who headlines Paris Theater on Nov. 30, airs Friday. The others are to be announced, as ABC continues its live coverage of impeachment proceedings.

Aguilera told Ripa and Seacrest her residency show, also at Zappos Theater, was a “five-sensory” show. “You can smell strawberries, you can smell fire,” she said.

Ripa turned to Seacrest and said, “We need sensory in our show.”

Carrot Top won over the audience with his “Neighborhood Watch” sign prop. “Watch the neighborhood? They can’t even watch their own signs!” He closed by laying down on the stage and pulling up a collapsible orange traffic cone — for people who have partied too much in Las Vegas and passed out.

“Where’s Dad?” he asked. “Oh, he’s laying down over there.”

Incidentally, Carrot Top shares the all-time record for most appearances on “Live” with the late Joan Rivers, with 33. His relationship with the show dates to the days when Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford co-hosted.

“I still have to catch myself,” he said Monday night. “I call it ‘Regis and Kathie Lee,’ and I almost did it again today.”

The woman on the horse who looked like Twain on the Fremont Street Experience on Monday night, was. She wore a flowing white dress while recording a promotional video as the crowed amassed behind metal barriers. Details to follow, but it was quite a thing.

According to my DirecTV on-screen program guide, Shania will be a guest on "LIVE With Kelly And Ryan" on Thursday, December 26 to promote her new "Let's Go!" Las Vegas residency which began December 6. The show was recorded on November 18 and will air from the Paris Theatre at Paris Las Vegas instead of the show's studio in New York City.

***The episode was originally scheduled to air Wednesday, November 20 but was preempted by the presidential impeachment hearings.

Shania Twain says "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" was about her own "self-empowerment"

When Shania Twain wrote "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" the song started as a message of encouragement to herself -- but it turned into a female empowerment anthem.

Sitting down in Las Vegas to chat with Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest for Thursday's edition of Live With Kelly and Ryan, the superstar shares that the hit song symbolized her transition into womanhood.

"I was a very late bloomer in accepting that I was becoming a woman," she explains. "When I wrote the song, it was more about my own self-empowerment that I was sharing in the song."

Shania explains that she grew up as a tomboy and was always playing football and other sports with the boys. But once she started getting curves, she became self-conscious about her body. She eventually learned to embrace it, though, which is a central theme of the song.

"The inspiration was I started to appreciate the fact that I can really have fun being a woman," she adds of the song's meaning. "I didn't realize it would have so much impact on others and that so many other people related to this."

"Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" was co-written by Shania and her former husband and producer Robert John Lange and released in 1999. The song earned Shania a Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance in 2000 and has since become one of her signature hits.
