According to a member on Pulse Music Board, Shania is releasing a compilation album September 2nd called 'Not Just a Girl: The Highlights' with "Not Just a Girl" being a new song and it will be the only new song on the project. Take that with a grain of salt but I hope it's true.

New music alert! She's releasing Not Just A Girl: The Highlights on September 2nd – and the compilation includes one new song!
01. "Not Just A Girl" 02. "You're Still The One" 03. "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" 04. "What Made You Say That" 05. "(If You're Not In It For Love) I'm Outta Here!" 06. "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?" 07. "Any Man Of Mine" 08. "You Win My Love" 09. "Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)" 10. "I'm Holdin' On To Love (To Save My Life)" 11. "From This Moment On" 12. "Love Gets Me Every Time" 13. "That Don't Impress Me Much" 14. "Forever And For Always" 15. "Honey I'm Home" 16. "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" 17. "Up!" 18. "Life's About To Get Good"
If this is all true, the song "Not Just A Girl" will probably be featured in the Netflix documentary premiering on July 26 with the single being released shortly after. Shania will probably perform it at the Boots & Hearts festival August 7 and during her final set of "Let's Go!" residency shows August 26 - September 10.

The Greatest Hits doesn't make any sense. Am I wrong? I like the Documentary being released on Netflix because it would be played worldwide and that will 100% get people talking about Shania. It couldn't be a better format to release this Documentary. Now releasing a lead single around that time would be perfect to promote and announce a new album however releasing a greatest hits when she had one out already is extremely confusing. Also how reliable is the source? I hope it is wrong. I think releasing a greatest hits album is odd. I'm leaning towards a new single maybe and new album. Greatest hits doesn't sound like a good idea. Tommy please explain? Am I wrong here. It seems so odd
I'm not sure how reliable the source is but I agree this greatest hits album sounds strange. What is the point??? Just release "Not Just A Girl" as a single to promote the documentary (and maybe the new album). I mean is Shania really going to release a greatest hits album, COO: Diamond Edition, and a new studio album in the last 4 months of the year? I doubt it. We'll see...

Yeah, I am taking the source with a grain of salt until Shania announces anything but I agree it would be strange to release a compilation, the 'Come on Over': Diamond Edition', and a new album all before the end of the year like Tommy said. She has been in the studio for years now though so we do know a new album is coming...sometime. Originally she said it was to be released last year but obviously that didn't happen but I wonder what the holdup is.
This makes no sense to me unless instead of an album she releases it as a playlist on streaming services. She already has her Greatest Hits album which I think has all of these songs except for What Made you Say That, I'm Holdin on to love and Life's About to get Good. I feel like the new album probably isn't ready and she's going to release Not just a girl along with this greatest hits compliation kind of a placeholder until the full album is ready. One other thought - could she be releasing this compilation instead of a diamond edition for Come on Over?
The only thing I don't get is that her Instagram says that she has been done in the studio for months now so the album surely should be done. Unless they scrapped it for whatever reason.
My source during the "Now" era also confirmed the compliation album with a lead single, but the title is not "Not Just a Girl" as that is a lyric in what was to be the lead single from the album (now slated to release soon with compilation/ documentary). The source also mentioned the album has been scrapped but has also heard christmas recordings that have been done for some time now. Not sure how much I trust this but if a new song comes out next week with a different title then perhaps the source is correct.

When you say "the source also mentioned the album has been scrapped", are you referring to the greatest hits compilation or the new studio album?

Sorry, I was referring to the full new studio album being scrapped, he confirmed the compilation album and new single. Again, taking it all with a grain of salt. He said “the second album has been scrapped" making it seem as though there was an album after “Now” that was scrapped…
There is also apparently many recorded Christmas tracks.

Right, apparently Shania scrapped 70% of the studio album she was supposed to release last year. So this would be the second album that was scrapped.

My Netflix also still says July 26. Kind of strange that she hasn't made an official announcement about the documentary. I think there's a very good chance that this song will be released the same day as the documentary or at the Boots and Hearts festival.
I bet the track listing are the songs she discusses in the documentary, potentially in the order they are listed. That would explain why What Made You Say That and I'm Holding on the Love to Save My Life are on it.

OMG I love this trailer!! It's crazy to see my entire career in 90seconds 😂 Not Just A Girl - The Documentary, coming to @netflix on July 26th. Not Just A Girl (The Highlights) album, released digitally on July 26th, with physical available September 2nd. Pre-order here:https://Shania.lnk.to/TheHighlights
The Netflix greatest hits it’s official on preorder $14 (uDiscover Music - UK)
I really don’t think about COO DIAMOND EDITION this year maybe with 30 anniversary
In my opinion it makes no sense this hits album , if at least universal would included all the collaborations, unreleased singles like shoes or today it’s your day … or videos not included on the latest dvd but just 1 new song? The other gh it’s quite better.
Really think the infos about two albums scrapped by universal among this 5 years since ”now” are true.
Could it be this new hits compilation a way to finish her deal with universal music?
It depends on her contract. For some artists, a compilation album wouldn't count. But if the scenario you mentioned is accurate, then it's a good strategy to move on and find a more supportive label.
Shania doesn’t even need Universal. Honestly, her contract should’ve been terminated years ago for lack of album making, but because of her success previously, that’s why it has probably remained. If they’ve scrapped now 2 albums, I guess this ”new single” will be suffice maybe? I’m not too crazy about what I’ve heard in the preview.
It's unlikely that Universal would let her go and she's never expressed any kind of discontent with them. The "Greatest Hits" album isn't a greatest hits album. It's a companion for the new Netflix documentary that covers the highlights of her career. It would include songs like "What Made You Say That" and "Life's About To Get Good" because they were both turning points for her.
Also, I wouldn't expect an artist who's been around for 3 decades to keep making the same music and never grow. Her songs from Now and the preview of "Not Just a Girl" have a different style and although it might not be what you're used to, that doesn't mean it's not good or that there's trouble with her label.
I really liked what I heard. I also like that they didn't spoil the song completely and mostly used snippets from the chorus.
Unlike most people, I quite liked 'Now' however even I admit the snippet of the new song sounds too much like that album. I hope she spices it up a bit with the full length version and for the next album. I don't even know what type of sound I wanted her to do, because I've liked pretty much everything she's ever released.
The part of "Not Just a Girl" that's in the trailer sounds so good. It sounds like Now but sounds a bit more country.

Shania Twain's Rise to Fame Gets Documentary Treatment in Netflix's Not Just a Girl Trailer
Not Just a Girl will hit the streaming service on July 26
By Rachel DeSantis | PEOPLE | July 20, 2022
Shania Twain's inspirational rise to success is coming soon to a TV near you!
The first trailer for the upcoming Netflix documentary Not Just a Girl dropped on Wednesday, and features music video clips, concert and archival footage and new interviews all centered around Twain's legendary country music career.
"Taking the risks to do things your way can be scary," Twain, 56, says in a voiceover as she drives through a lush mountain landscape. "You gotta be brave."
Not Just a Girl, named after a new song of the same name, follows the star's beginnings growing up poor in Timmins, Ontario, and follows her as she signs to a label in Nashville and meets her future producer and husband Robert "Mutt" Lange.
The film, directed by Joss Crowley, features studio session footage from throughout her career and chronicles all of her ups and downs, including her split from Lange in 2008 and subsequent marriage to Frédéric Thiébaud three years later, as well as her work on her sixth album. It'll also cover her vocal cord struggles, which began after she contracted Lyme disease in 2003.
"It was similarly intense to losing my parents," she says in the trailer. "I thought I'd lost my voice forever, I thought that was it."
"She was the first person to break that door open and go across the music genres. She was that trailblazer," says Richie, while Peck says that she "shifted culture."
Not Just a Girl will begin streaming on July 26, the same day Twain is set to digitally release a compilation album called Not Just a Girl (The Highlights).
"I'm finishing my album. It's a really great feeling," Twain says in the trailer. "And I think the fans will enjoy it."
While performing with Twain, Styles addressed the crowd before him, saying, "Now I have to tell you, in the car with my mother as a child, this lady taught me to sing."
"She also taught me that men are trash," he continued with a laugh, before adding, "but to you, for the memories you gave me with my mother, I will be forever grateful."
Twain, meanwhile, noted: "I'm [at a] loss for words, I'm a bit starstruck ... when I was writing this song, you were just a kid, so it's kind of a dream and very surreal to be sitting right here now, singing this song with you."
Not Just A Girl (The Highlights) Track List: 1 Not Just A Girl 2 You’re Still The One 3 Man! I Feel Like A Woman! 4 What Made You Say That – Single Version 5 (If You’re Not In It For Love) I’m Outta Here! 6 Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under? 7 Any Man Of Mine 8 You Win My Love 9 Don’t Be Stupid (You Know I Love You) 10 I’m Holdin’ On To Love (To Save My Life) 11 From This Moment On 12 Love Gets Me Every Time 13 That Don’t Impress Me Much 14 Forever And For Always (Red Version) 15 Honey, I’m Home 16 I’m Gonna Getcha Good! (Red Version) 17 Up! (Green Version) 18 Life’s About To Get Good
Is not just a girl going to be sent to radio? Also will it be released Friday as a single to promote the album? Also where in the heck do you hear now in that track? To me it sounds catchy and it might do well on itunes. Also She said she's finished the album and people will be be happy with it. I think a new album is coming in the fall, People got to relax. Her record label isn't dropping her. She will end vegas then maybe release a single sometime in Late September with an album in November. The song sounds absolutely nothing like the now album. Sounds way more upbeat than anything I've heard on now. Someone please answer some of my questions. :) This documentary might get people talking. It's the plan. I think the song might be a hit if promoted and Netflix will do that

I hope it’s sent to radio! There is so much excitement everywhere I’m looking online about the song and Shania, in general, with the documentary. It feels like more than there was with Now!
This may just be me, but I wonder if this new song “Not Just a Girl,” is one of the 5 songs Shania mentioned back when NOW was released that was recorded and left off? The song sounds very NOWish, even with the way her voice sounds. I could be wrong, but I’m not sure if this single is going to be a promoted single, or even if the song is going to be even released as an official single. Seems odd to put so much into a song that’s not to a lead off new album, or greatest hits album like her 2004 compilation. She really hasn’t released enough to add new songs for another greatest hits album. All of the articles that talk about the documentary and new album of hits don’t really even mention the new song, but I guess we shall see.
I'm late... So happy with the news. Strange that she put "I'm holding on to love (to save my life)" (probably important song for her). I like that she put "What made you say that" and "Life's about to get good". I regret "Party for two"... but it must be because of the rights of the duo. And above all, the new song that opens the doc's companion album. "Not just a girl" has the heavy burden of coming before "You're still the one" !
I'm Holding holding on to love to save my life is my favorite song on come on over, It was moderately successful even without any promotion of the single or a video release. I believe it was the last single released off Come on over. I agree Netflix is a documentary being released about her life and releasing a sound track for it makes sense. She's not releasing a greatest hits album. More just something too keep people entertained especially her loyal fans. Shania Twain has been through so much and that is the part today's generation are missing. The 90s and Early 2000s were her biggest years for hits and album sales. Those fans know and love her. Even when Now wasn't as successful her now tour still did fantastic. She's got the fans she just needs an upbeat catchy album. I heard the last studio song she shared on Tiktok way back and it was absolutely amazing from the small clip she played. Who knows what the plan is with the new album but one thing is for certain it has been finished. The Come On Over Diamond Edition seems possible the way things are going and then perhaps the new album. Perhaps a New album this year or maybe not. She said new music earlier this year. Big concert soon at the boots and hearts festival and later in August she will receive a new award. Whatever her plans are let's just be happy and be grateful She's still doing music. Old or new I don't care no more she has made her mark on County music. Not just a girl probably won't be sent to radio because I agree with Tommy there isn't any promotion for it to be sang live. Doesn't mean it won't do Moderately okay on itunes. It doesn't sound like that song was from now. Her voice is deeper but the beat sounds more upbeat and catchy. It will not be the lead single off her next new album. That part is 100% certain and likely not going to be on the new album whenever it gets released. Shania Twain will do just fine. Whatever happens from here on out I have accepted she has made amazing music and new and younger artists always come and go. That's life and how things go. I am surprised she didn't release a brand New song and album yet especially with the Netflix documentary coming. I was shocked but have now accepted we get what we get. She's not 40 no more she's approaching 60. This new album when in fact gets released could be her last with a final tour. I do expect a retirement announcement in the next few years. Face it all our Queen had earned her retirement whether you want to hear it or not. It's coming within a few years. She's near 60 let me repeat that. Sad and hard to say because I love her but my brother has been a fan since he was 8 he's now 36. He just loves her music and everything she's ever released even Now. I'll be not commenting further anymore I've given my options and thoughts and it May be annoying to some but I have kids and getting married. I'll always be a Tommy supporter and for everything he has done but time to move on and focus on other things. I'll get my brother to join soon though, He's gay and proud and will be a pleasure to have on here. He will say anything by Shania Twain is good. Doesn't matter what song he knows them all and loves them all. Take care Tommy and I wish you and your life nothing but the best. Been a Pleasure being a member. So I'll leave you all with this message, Give Tommy a Big Thanks, He's been running this site since the late 1990s. Best Shania fan page around. Enjoy it because someday Tommy will retire. We all do. Lots of love and happiness.
New music usually comes out on streaming platforms at 12:00am midnight local time. So "Not Just A Girl" and the entire The Highlights album should be available tomorrow night at midnight locally (July 26). I'm just wondering if it will because the song is associated with the documentary and the doc won't be out yet. The doc comes out at 12am PT, 2am CT, 3am ET.
We'll have to see what happens in places like New Zealand and Australia.

Thank you and I plan to get back into it starting with this new song and a few surprises as well.
Not Just A Girl: The Highlights is now available in New Zealand. For those outside NZ you can listen to the first 1:30 of Shania's new song "Not Just A Girl".
I listened to this long preview: I love music & her voice !! Fairly natural voice. It's country pop, very successful. I'm going to listen to it on repeat!
Thanks Tommy for the link.

The song sounds AMAZING!!! Can't wait to listen to the full version at midnight. I guess I'm not gonna sleep tonight and by tomorrow morning I'm gonna know the lyrics by heart. Welcome back Shania, we missed u.
[verse 1] Turn the light on And you're gonna see someone That's gonna be somebody someday Invisible lines All the simple minds Thinking "don't know what to think or to say" [pre-chorus] Hold me but don't you hold me down Change is gonna come But my patience's running out Made a decision What the dictionary's Missing is my definition I'm not just a four letter word [chorus] I'm not just a girl Just a girl I'm not just a girl Just a girl I've packed my suitcases I'm going places I'm gonna rule the world I'm not just a girl I'm not just a girl [verse 2] We're sittin' in the kitchen And we're talkin' all in fiction And the truth is comin' out tonight Is that what you expected? That I would just accept it? To stand behind and not beside [pre-chorus] Hold me but don't you hold me down Change is gonna come But my patience's running out Made a decision What the dictionary's Missing is my definition I'm not just a four letter word [chorus] I'm not just a girl Just a girl I'm not just a girl Just a girl I've packed my suitcases I'm going places I'm gonna rule the world I'm not just a girl I'm not just a girl [bridge] Gonna put it on And wear it out Dress it up with attitude I'm looking fine The night is mine I don't know about you [chorus] I'm not just a girl Just a girl I'm not just a girl Just a girl I've packed my suitcases I'm going places I'm gonna rule the world I'm not just a girl I'm not just a girl Oh just a girl I'm not just a girl Just a girl I'm not just a girl
