I Think Paul is entitled to his opinion. He isn't the only one who feels that way. The Queen of me had so much potential but didn't get bearly any promotion. Another Vegas Residency while on Tour announced? I don't think we will be getting another album anytime soon and honestly it doesn't matter anymore. I love Shania and her old music however I like the new album I don't expect another one for a very long time. I also don't see her having anymore hits unless she does a big duet with a well know and current popular artists which I think will happen. Harry Styles potentially but who knows. Post Malone would also be an amazing collaboration.

She could’ve been writing music for other artists at the very least instead of the 15 years of winter we got—minus her memoir, Vegas show, Oprah show, and Endless Love (which I think was the best vocal performance of her career midst of her issues). I know she has Lyme disease that destroyed her voice let alone the divorce but I am inclined to believe it was mostly her insecurities that kept her dormant. We simply needed more albums from her during that time and the problem still exists to this day. We need more albums period. This woman was and still is my hero and I am glad there are defenders of her like yourself to check people when they’re out of line but cmon… the roll out for QOM was a disaster—literally nothing took off. It’s extra frustrating because I believe to this day Got It Good is one of the best songs she’s ever recorded. I listen to that song at last 6 to 10 times a day—and yet nobody knows it even exists. This era has truly been frustrating and that’s me being passionate about it.

I agree with you partially. However I think for an act her age that Queen of Me proved to be a fair success. Giddy Up was het first top 10 song on the adult contemporary chart since I'm Gonna Getcha Good. Streamingwise the album did very well compared to NOW and similar "classic" acts releasing a studio album in the last years. Queen of me is even overtaking NOW in the next month with all time streams:

Shania Twain - Queen of Me (2023) 56,246,384 streams

And it also shows how tastes differ. 'Got it Good' is in my bottom 3 songs of the QoM album. I still do not understand however how 'On Three', 'Done & Dusted' and 'Wanted Man' were not included on the standard album. They are closer to the classic Shania sound and would have pleased the old time (country) pop fans a bit more maybe.

Nevertheless, grateful for every album, tour and residency she's still doing and very happy to see the boxscore numbers of the QoM tour, which will become her highest grossing tour of all time and tour with highest average attendance per show of all time. And let's not forget her current success in Europe with her feature on the song Unhealthy. Over 40 million streams today and still climbing the charts in several countries.

I understand that. I get from a fan point of view wishing and hoping for new music during that 15 year period. I was there too, but I also understand why it took so long and I accept that. I do wish that More music of would have been released between Now and QOM and hopefully we won’t have to wait as much for a new album.Got It Good is also my fav and should have been a single. To this day, i keep saying Not Just a Girl and Got It Good has classic sounding Shania. I also don’t get her rollout strategy (Basically leaving Canada/US in the dust when it comes to promo and not appearing in the Giddy Up video for more than 15 secs was not helpful.) but at the same time, I think she is over that kind of stuff, which is disappointing got for us big fans.

I think "Queen of Me (Extended Edition)" is one of her best albums so far. Some songs are better than TWIM album or Up! album.
The promotion has been dreadful since day 1. No live performances, only interviews and US/Canada left in the dust. Her team and some of her choices are really throwing her carreer down the drain. She has nothing to prove anymore and that's a fact, but as a fan it's really sad because this girl CAN and knows how to write songs better than many other successful artists.

Chart Rewind: In 1998, Shania Twain Continued to Make Herself at ‘Home’ Atop Hot Country Songs

The superstar rolled up her seventh Hot Country Songs chart-topper, with a third from her smash album Come On Over.

On Oct. 31, 1998, Shania Twain’s “Honey, I’m Home” hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, becoming the most recent of her seven leaders.

Twain co-authored the single with her then-husband, Robert “Mutt” Lange, who also produced it.

The song became the third of three Hot Country Songs No. 1s from Twain’s Come On Over album, following “Love Gets Me Every Time,” which led for five weeks – Twain’s longest reign – beginning in November 1997, and “You’re Still the One” (one week, May 1998).

The set debuted at the Top Country Albums summit and proceeded to dominate for a then-record 50 weeks. Dating to the chart’s 1964 inception, Come On Over remains the longest-commanding collection by a woman. Among all acts, it’s tied with Luke Combs’ This One’s for You for the second-longest rule, after Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album (97 weeks).

Twain logged her first four Hot Country Songs No. 1s from her previous album The Woman in Me, in 1995-96: “Any Man of Mine” (two weeks), “(If You’re Not in It for Love) I’m Outta Here!” (two), “You Win My Love” (two) and “No One Needs To Know” (one week).

Along with her Hot Country Songs haul, which includes 17 top 10s, Twain (born Eileen Edwards on Aug. 28, 1965, in Windsor, Ontario) has scored five No. 1s on Top Country Albums. This February, her Queen of Me LP opened at its No. 2 high, becoming her seventh top 10 set.

Now 58, Twain was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in August 2022. She is currently on the fall leg of her Queen of Me Tour. Her latest Las Vegas residency begins in May 2024 at the Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

In a new episode of Vevo Footnotes, Twain discusses the creative decisions that went into crafting the now-iconic video.

In the latest installment of Vevo Footnotes, Shania Twain takes fans behind the scenes of the music video for “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” in honor of the 25^th anniversary of the empowering song.

In 1999, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” reached No. 23 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, and reached No. 4 on the Hot Country Songs chart. But the song’s spirit of empowerment, confidence and freedom have etched an enduring, decades-spanning connection with music fans. The song, and its video, continue to draw superb viewership on Vevo. From 2016-2022, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” saw an average lift of 31% in global daily views annually on International Women’s Day (March 8) over the previous 10 weeks leading up to the holiday, including a 57% lift in global daily views in 2021 and a 24% lift in 2022.

In the Vevo Footprints video, Twain discusses the song’s role in breaking barriers and defying genres, and crafting lyrics that she says centered on “liberation, independence and the human spirit.”

“I was standing up for myself through the song,” she says in the annotated video. “I wasn’t being apologetic for all the things I had been criticized for in my life — ‘You can’t do that, you can’t wear that, that’s too tight, that’s too short.’ This was my song that really said you know what I love about being a woman! I’m feeling comfortable in my own skin! That’s awesome!” She also added of the song’s rock-fueled instrumentation, “I wanted to go beyond country music and this song was pushing my genre boundaries. Musically it was not limited to one genre. It’s rock, it’s pop, it’s country.”

She also discusses the intentional fashion decisions she and her team made for the video, which was inspired by the styling in Robert Palmer’s "Addicted to Love."

“We wanted to take that idea and turn it on its head,” Twain says. “We wanted to make something unexpected and the role reversal was the vision… [Fashion designer/stylist] Mark Bauer got to work on the wardrobe, with that idea in mind, and dressed me in that amazing high women’s coat, the top hat, with the veil added for a touch of femininity, in what was a ‘typically’ masculine outfit.” She added, “As part of the role reversal, it was important to have the guys be really sexy and androgynous. All of the little details of the fashion were considered and on purpose. It’s a real credit to Mark and his talent.”

Twain also remembers “getting a lot of flack for doing what we did at that time. We were taking country music to a place it hadn’t been before and some people didn’t like that.”

She recalled even the art department questioning whether female listeners would feel threatened by the video.

“I remember the art department saying, ‘This is way too sexy! The women listeners are not going to like this! They’re going to feel threatened.’ They told me I was going to alienate a huge part of my audience. I knew that women would totally get it,” Twain says.

But clearly, the song has become an anthem — whether helping people hype up for a night of partying, or serving as an encouragement for being confident in themselves and their own personal visions. “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” also won a Grammy in 2000 for best female country vocal performance.

4 Country Albums That Changed the Course of Music History

Country music as a genre doesn’t get enough credit for the incredible albums and artists that shaped music history as a whole. We think these four classic country albums and musicians changed music history in their own ways, and they’re still powerful pieces of work that aged pretty well.

1. ‘Come On Over’ by Shania Twain

Quite a few country music traditionalists would scoff at this entry on our list of country albums that changed music history. And that’s precisely why it’s listed here.

Country pop and other crossovers were already happening before Shania Twain released Come On Over in 1997, but nothing had quite scratched the itch that mainstream audiences had at the time. It was an enormous success that inspired a whole generation of country singers to play around in pop territory. Realistically, most of the newer country stars around today wouldn’t have enjoyed so much success if Twain hadn’t paved the way with this breakthrough album.

2. ‘Coat Of Many Colors’ by Dolly Parton

This 1971 album came about when Dolly Parton was already on her way to stardom. Before this album, Parton was more or less “stuck” in the role as a singing partner and variety show fodder for Porter Wagoner. Coat Of Many Colors was the first release in which Parton was starting to take control of her own image and sound. And she did so quite brilliantly.

Coat Of Many Colors was so successful upon its release because of how relatable it was to audiences at the time. On this record, Parton croons about poverty, nature, family, and love in a way that few have been able to master.

3. ‘Red Headed Stranger’ by Willie Nelson

The concept album was already very much a thing before Willie Nelson released Red Headed Stranger in 1975. However, few songwriters in any genre had mastered the art of narrative storytelling in their respective concept albums at that point. Another stellar outlaw country release from 1975, Waylon Jennings’ Dreaming My Dreams changed country culture at the time by debuting a new, soft, and vulnerable side of a man otherwise known for his machismo.

The macho, outlaw tough-guy image was still very much there. However, Jennings was a bit more fearless in his fondness and affection for the one he loved on this album. Quite a few male artists followed suit, and country music was made all the more poetic for it.
