So I know there weren't any unreleased songs on the 'The Woman in Me' anniversary but do you guys think we'll ever get unreleased content that they maybe recorded but didn't include on the albums? Almost like Mariah's 'The Rarities' album. Because I imagine they probably wrote (and possibly recorded) more songs than what ended up on the released projects.

Behind every devoted catalogue fan is a long-suffering but good-natured band of friends who smile politely and listen to us jaw on about liner notes, bonus tracks and the like.

Those readers with partners or spouses are probably grinning right now, and so am I. Today is the birthday of a special someone (in a hat tip to MusicTAP, I'll call her Miss Disc) and in a show of geeky affection I have put together a Reissue Theory for one of her favorite records, which is thankfully one that could benefit from deluxe treatment.

Shania Twain spent the 1990s as a solid Canadian-born country star, but her third record was something special. With the help of super-producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange (who, besides producing Twain's last record, The Woman in Me (1995), was married to her at the time), Twain developed an unheard-of crossover sound that meshed the best of country with the freshest dance and pop one could ask for at the time. Come On Over was a smash after its 1997 release, topping the charts in 10 countries and selling more than 30 million copies worldwide (the biggest-selling record by a female solo artist and one of the top 10 best-selling records in America).

And those songs! Twelve of the LP's 16 tracks were released to various radio formats and became FM staples. Cuts like "That Don't Impress Me Much," "You're Still the One," "From This Moment On" and "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" ushered in a movement of country-pop that paved the way for class acts from The Dixie Chicks to Taylor Swift.

Like many best-sellers, the album has quite the history on CD. Foreign audiences weren't quite ready for the Nashville sound of the record, so Mercury Records remixed the entire album (save pentultimate track "Rock This Country!") with a Eurobeat feel when releasing it internationally in 1998. Then things got interesting: that version of the album was tweaked and released on its own in the U.S. as Come On Over: The International Version (1999). (So there's a U.S. international version and an...international international version.) This notion would be milked even further for Twain's next record, 2002's Up!; that record was released as a two-disc set of country and pop mixes with a download code for a third album mix inspired by Eastern dance tracks.

A reissue of this LP would befit Universal's usual Deluxe Edition format, with both versions of the record (and a handful of bonus tracks, in spite of the album's hour-long running time) making up such a hypothetical set. Come on Over Diamond Edition? If she was smart she could of released The Woman In Me, Come On Over And the Up Edition at the same time. Technically up didn't sell 10 million in the United States. Some will argue with me but it was a double CD package. What happens years from now and they don't count double CD packages as double in sales? Will she lose the Diamond Edition status?

We are now into October. It's safe to say Shania won't be releasing Come On Over: Diamond Edition on Friday, November 4 (its 25th anniversary) or this year. I wonder why. Could changing labels (Mercury to Republic) have anything to do with it?

Maybe after the release of the woman in me diamond edition universal realize that there’s not enough interest on those special editions , at least on physical release. Take care that artist like Mariah Carey ( a top seller with a lot of fanbase worldwide) are just releasing the special anniversary editions just on digital platforms, and if you do it digital you can do it without promotion just as a surprise on the day of its anniversary.

Shania fanbase after those hiatus between albums it’s older that other artist and maybe new albums are still profitable to release it on cd/ vinyl for the new album , but actually her numbers must be between 200.000-800.000 worldwide at best , great for a new album but how much for a re-release just for fans?

Remember top hit makers like Jennifer Lopez don’t release physical albums since 2014 , public it’s so different, jlo has young market that consumes digital music and Shania fans are maybe more physical

We should think in what industry knows about the different singers

In 2020, Shania announced The Woman In Me: Diamond Edition on August 14 and was released October 2.

Good if any Album deserves A diamond edition this album definitely does. It has already sold a lot so I expect alot of remixed maybe even songs that were never released. I'd say Mutt was working on this album. She wouldn't dare mess up his production on it. Hopefully she doesn't have another producer editing the Diamond edition. It would ruin the album

I think this is awesome! How many new albums and remixes have we had this year now? Sometimes hard to come in this board and see just how tough a crowd it is… there was a time where we thought we’d never have anything new from Shania, let alone all of the greatness she’s given us this year. I say we appreciate this wonderful addition to the collection. We also never know what Shania has up her sleeve, there could be more coming- this year has proven that!

Shania Twain announces ‘Come On Over’ Diamond Edition

Following a fabulous plaque presentation by Hoda Kotb from Today at her sold out Madison Square Garden show last night (Tues, July 11th), Shania Twain announces the release of multiple expanded US and International Diamond Editions of her all-time classic third studio album, November 1997’s Come On Over – due for release on August 25th via Mercury/UMe. Come On Over is the record that confirmed Twain’s status as an international crossover-format superstar, having been certified as being both the top-selling country album and the highest-selling album by a female artist of all time. In celebration of this benchmark album’s 25th anniversary and its accumulation of over 40 million-plus in global album sales, both the US and International versions of the album have been remastered from the original tapes for the first time ever.

Come On Over will be released as a 3 CD Super Deluxe, 3 LP Super Deluxe, 3 LP International Super Deluxe, 2 LP Deluxe, 2 CD Deluxe, and digital edition. 2 LP Deluxe retail exclusives will also be available in the US.

“With Come On Over, it was important for me to give what I thought was the best record of my life, and that is why there’s so many songs on it. I thought, ‘Let’s just load this up in case there’s not another chance. Let’s not hold anything back.’ There was no point in saving songs for another album or even giving songs to other artists, because I thought this might be my only chance to really make an impact as a follow-up to the prior album, which was already certified Diamond. I would say that Come On Over was so high-pressure for me, because I knew I had more in me than one Diamond album,” Twain states.

“My audience was broader than the average country genre audience – they were coming from all over the world! We had the luxury of producing multiple versions of the songs to fit each audience and I’m so happy to see all the versions packaged together for this reissue. This was an album that was really meant to bridge genres, and I wanted to make sure that the fans were getting what they expected from me as a multi-genre artist. This album is me trying to deliver that and bring as many different people together as possible – so imagine how incredible it feels to still have a sense of bringing people together 25 years later? I’m at a great place in my life.”

A clear-cut songwriting breakthrough album for Shania Twain and produced by Robert John “Mutt” Lange, the original 1997 North American/US edition of Come On Over, featured 16 country pop songs buttressed by acoustic guitars, fiddles, pedal-steel guitar, and electric-guitar rock riffs alike. Subsequently, an International version of Come On Over released a few months later in February 1998 centered on a reconfigured track listing and featured a more pop-oriented production style that dialed back the country instrumentation and added other musical elements such as drum loops, keyboards, and synthesizer.

Among the many hits embedded in Come On Over are the US country chart No. 1 singles “You’re Still The One,” “Love Gets Me Every Time,” and “Honey, I’m Home,” as well as the Top 10 hits “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!,” “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” “From This Moment On,” “Don’t Be Stupid (You Know I Love You),” and “Come On Over.” Come On Over has also been certified 2x Diamond by the RIAA. The album peaked at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200, and it reached No. 1 in Twain’s native Canada as well as in the UK, Australia, Belgium, The Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, New Zealand, Ireland, Iceland, and Scotland.

The 3 CD Super Deluxe and 3 LP Super Deluxe US and 3 LP Super Deluxe International editions for Come On Over all include a bonus disc with nine additional tracks, featuring live duets with Chris Martin, Elton John, Alison Krauss, and the Backstreet Boys, plus other live tracks and remixes. The 3 CD Super Deluxe edition is packaged in a commemorative hardback book format with notes from Twain herself, while both 3 LP versions come on 180-gram ultra-clear vinyl.

The 2 LP US Deluxe version is available on 180-gram black vinyl, while the 2 LP US Deluxe Retail Exclusive comes on 180-gram red apple.

The 2 CD Deluxe US version includes the additional bonus disc with all the live duets and the other live tracks and remixes.

Finally, the digital edition mirrors the 3 CD Super Deluxe configuration by including the additional, aforementioned live duets and all the other live tracks and remixes.

Twain is currently on her global Queen of Me Tour that runs through November 2023.

Honestly I expected more from this diamond edition. Most of artists include bonus tracks b sides and demos for their anniversary albums. Did she really record only 16 tracks for the original album? No rejected songs from that era?

On uk store they’ve made box sets with signed pictures , the international vinyl comes with different colors … it seems they will release a lot of editions

Super disappointed there wasn’t anything extra like demos or unreleased tracks. Come On Over is one of my favorite albums of my childhood so I was really excited about what the Diamond Edition would offer only to be let down. Makes me worried for the Diamond Edition of Up! when that comes around. Honestly, I’m only buying it because I lost my Shania collection from when I was a kid so I’m looking to rebuild my Shania collection but if I still had the album, I probably wouldn’t buy it.

I’m also slightly disappointed in this release. i had hoped they would include the early ”pop” versions of YGAW and TDIMM at least. I hope Shania’s solo version of FTMO will be on the international version, otherwise they’ve really screwed it up.

I am also pretty disappointed how one of the greatest albums of 20th century is treated. Nothing new here, everything already heard on this edition. Maybe it’s due the fact that she is not with Mercury Records anymore?

It is going to be lovely as a collectors item on the shelf but musically there won’t be anything new. My perfect diamond edition of COO would be pop and country versions of COO. But for the 3rd disc she could go for re-recorded new versions of all the tracks with some duo’s with the most popular artists at the moment.

Is it really that much to ask? 😭 Taylor Swift is releasing new albums almost every 1/2 years plus re-recording all her previous stuff.

People are missing the point Mutt worked hard on producing that album and there wasn't anything else to put on it every song was a masterpiece. Hit after hit. The sales alone made this album a blockbuster. I expect this album to do well even though it sold over 40 million. It will introduce a new audience and what not. I wasn't really expecting new music but to combine the albums like up is a brilliant move. I expect some promotion. It really doesn't need promotion because it sold so many albums but streaming this one will do decent. I'm listening to come on over now and the production is off the charts

In Not Just A Girl, her former manager Jon Landau talks about hearing early demos of the whole album in New York, including a duet of "From This Moment On" with Mutt Lange. 2020's diamond edition had the standard edition, a live & remixed CD, and Shania Vocal Mix CD. I wonder why they didn't follow the same model and use the demos to comprise another Shania Vocal Mix. Here, we're just getting the two standards editions and a Live & Remixed CD when you buy the super deluxe book.

What I am disappointed with in regards to this album is the 3rd disc, they have the same 3 songs on repeat with different live versions and remixes YST 4x FTMO 3x and HOTLTSML 2x... that's it, it's a little boring to me. I wasn't really expecting any new material to be honest, but I was hoping for a remix album since there are so many remixes for the singles. Maybe even a few new remixes. It is a bit of a let down for sure with all the material that was available to include on this disc. I will still buy this album digitally if available. I might try to buy some of the other available remix and add them myself to make this more enjoyable.

On Apple Music alone, the following is available, so it could have been added to the 3rd disc:
