I watched several videos of MIFLAW last night and while the backing track issue I think is better - it's still very noticeable.
She's using playback for the verses - it's the same track she used for the NOW tour and Let's Go. You can tell this when she sings "I'm going out tonight, I'm feeling alright" that it's the exact same track because of her phrasing on "tonight" and "alright".
However the track completely cuts out for the chorus and you can hear Shania singing harmony that's completely off pitch as if she doesn't expect her mic to be on here.
It does sound like they turned down Paul Michael's mic - I don't think she ever intended to mime to his voice singing her part. It's not overbearing anymore - it now just sounds like they turned off her mic. It an issue with the sound engineering. Who ever is running her sound should be fired.
I have no idea why she would do this. I think it's probably close to physically impossible for her to sing the chorus of MIFLAW in this key. However, she has sang the verses live several times before. It would make sense to the verses live and then do the chorus playback - not the other way around.
I also still really question the FAFA arrangement. It's all playback which I have no problem with at all, but Shania is not singing the melody in the chorus. You can hear the playback of her singing the harmony while the background singers are singing the melody. I just find it very odd that she would go into a studio and record herself singing the background vocals on this.
I love the brunette hair last night in Vancouver, very Live in Chicago 2003 style.
I think she should replace "Pretty Liar" with "Got It Good", it's an ok song but it's boring played live. And I can't stand "That Don't Impress Me Much" anymore. It's never been one of my favourite songs.
I keep seeing people wanting her to replace songs on the tour from the 'Queen of Me' album with other songs from her discography and like...it's the Queen of Me Tour - I feel people keep forgetting that part.

Shania just wants to say F*CKING LIAR every night.

Vancouver... I'm still on a high from our two nights together! The energy in @rogersarena was electric and hearing y'all scream every word got me emotional!! Playing to sold out crowds in my home country, surrounded by family, friends, and the best fans in the world - it doesn't get any better than this. Nobody goes harder than a home crowd!! Edmonton, you're up - let's keep this party rocking! 🤠❤️🔥 #queenofmetour
OMG i love this - (sorry everyone that I am posting so much but i am loving this tour) I have seen Shania so many times and can say I love how she is doing these, almost scavenger hunt?, fashion elements
Shania Twain balances classics with new cuts in dazzling Rogers Place show
The first concert of her sold-out two-night stand at Rogers Place had her sprinkling new numbers and a few deeper cuts in among the essentials.
By Tom Murray | Edmonton Journal | May 6, 2023
On the night a king was crowned on a small island country, the queen of a much larger domain celebrated with her adoring subjects at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
That’s probably not a fair comparison for Shania Twain. After all, King Charles fell into his role due to birth, while Twain worked from the bottom up to claim her title as Queen of Country Pop. She’s been through it all, from critical barbs to philandering husbands, building a catalogue of massive cross-genre hits that still get people up and dancing.
Charles? Well, not so much. It’s been reported that the U.K.’s new monarch has a taste for the occasional jolt of modern R ‘n’ B, so it’s possible he would have jumped from his seat for Waking Up Dreaming, Twain’s first song and the lead single off her latest album, Queen of Me. A slice of electro-pop popping the bones of David Bowie’s Modern Love underneath, the irresistible Waking up Dreaming saw Twain arrive in full glam, rhinestone sunglasses and pink purse on full display, vaporwave visuals scrolling through the background.
From there she skittered through a 23-song set that knitted together her warring musical personas, nestling honky tonk against unabashed pop, ‘80s rock with stadium anthems. As a longstanding citizen of Switzerland, it makes sense that she refuses to take musical sides. Twain, whose albums are released in increasingly long gaps, could fill an entire evening with just her top five hits, but the first concert of her sold-out two-night stand at Rogers Place had her sprinkling new numbers and a few deeper cuts in among the essentials. Will you get to hear your favourite Twain banger on Saturday night? Most likely, but patience is required as you’re going to have to wait until the encore for Man! I Feel Like a Woman!
Twain isn’t a monster, though. She has the turbo-tonk classic Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under and Any Man of Mine positioned fairly early on as part of a head-scratching video sequence at the Twain Tavern involving horses and aliens, while You’re Still the One protectively wraps her most recent single, Giddy Up, from the other end. A five-song medley plunked down midway through allows Twain and band to loop choruses to a few loose chart non-performers, a gift to serious fans.
There’s a diva-ish feel to the proceedings, though Twain doesn’t indulge in a whole lot of costume changes or diva-like proclamations. By and large, she focuses on the music, the fireworks arriving in the form of sturdy hooks that have stood the test of time. As one of the best-selling performers in the history of recorded music, you might expect loud explosions, guitarists descending from the ceiling, or perhaps a giant mascot stomping through the crowd. But no. You will, however, see a motorcycle stylized as a horse (take that, Rob Halford!), some desultory smoke machine eruptions, and a wind machine that made the proceedings feel at times like an out-of-control Lita Ford video.
It probably doesn’t need to be noted that she has a talented backing band, including drummer Elijah Wood, who pounds the skins like the spirit of Bonham. That being said, Twain was rivalled at times by her backing vocalists, a campily theatrical two-man team who acted as singers, hype men, and even tap dancers while miming secondary action behind her to hilarious effect. They caught the attention of a number of audience members in our section, who didn’t seem to know how to process what they were seeing.
Opener Lindsey Ell had 30 minutes in which to make her case and she rose ably to the task. The Calgary-born guitarist and singer-songwriter doesn’t have the hits but she does have raw talent, winning over the audience with pure guitar shredding power on songs like Criminal. She’ll no doubt pick up a large chunk of new fans after these two concerts.
I love expressing myself through fashion, having fun with it… giving pieces in my wardrobe a new life! Anybody recognize my #QueenOfMeTour outfits from somewhere? 😘
Back in the saddle with two shows in Calgary starting tonight after a couple days off!! Can’t wait to get back on stage and perform. See you so soon 💖 #QueenOfMeTour
Another glowing review from the press! Makes you wonder if these professional journalists who review concerts for a living and are paid to be objective are watching bc the same concerts as some of the cynicAl “fans” on this message board…
Hoping she decides to tour mainland Europe and come here to Poland for a show, or at least Germany. Would love to see her for the first time ever :) Is there a tourbook for this one? Any piece of merch sold during shows? I haven't seen a single picture of a merch booth from these shows and it got me thinking about the budget etc.

There's a whole bunch of stuff but I don't see a tour book.
Didn’t see someone talking about shania singing you’re still the one live in Edmonton. Some parts were brilliant some were not that good.
I wonder how she decides how much she sings live. She still needs to find the right balance
You know who impresses me? MOMS! 👑💖 I love a day that honors women and all of our contributions we make to the world. If you’re coming to tonight’s show in Winnipeg… it’s time to party your arse off 🤠 LET’S GO GIRLS! #QueenOfMeTour
What's amazing is that it seems like she did this completely unrehearsed. That's why the band sounds a little off. Just wow! I would love for her to do some more surprise songs.
^ question but the author says Shania's voice was damaged further because of her bout with COVID. Was this ever confirmed or is he just speculating? Because I know that is it possible but I was just wondering.
All of the reviews have been positive up to this one. I mean the review isn't lieing about certain aspects of the concert. We had said from the start it isn't live. At least most of it. I think brushing the wigs are a little funny but the sound and quality has definitely improved. She's selling out every concert for the most part and most people seem to enjoy the concert. Most of the negative reviews from people are those who actually haven't attended her concert. I don't mind honest reviews because technically she is going to get some negative ones. As fans we have to accept that and we as fans have the right as well to criticize sometimes. I think the tour will be a successful one attendance wise but I'm thinking it will probably be her last tour. I expect maybe one more album and probably Vegas again at some point. Regardless I'm enjoying The videos and photos posted here. Keep up the good work Tommy
