Review: Shania Twain brings her star power back to Star Lake

By Scott Mervis | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette | July 14, 2023

It was like a trip to the pop-country candy store for the 20,000-some fans who packed into the sold-out and stormy Pavilion at Star Lake on Thursday night.

In her first trip to the venue since 1999 — two years after she became a new kind of country sensation with “Come On Over” — Shania Twain brought her catchy hooks, pop sass, sparkly wardrobe and glossy stage production on the Queen of Me Tour.

The Canadian star made quite the glamorous entrance, greeting the crowd not on the stage but on the pavilion walkway in a black-and-silver sequined bodysuit and flowing chartreuse cape. She was on a rolling cart singing “Waking Up Dreaming,” a thumping dance-pop song from “Queen of Me,” her first album in six years.

That done, she made another grand entrance through a swinging saloon door at the back of the stage to do “Up!” below a screen emblazoned with “PENNSYLVANIA.”

When she turned around to dance, she revealed that there wasn’t much to the back of that bodysuit. Yeah, Shania Twain looks pretty good at 57.

Also behind her was a spare four-piece band, mostly dominated by fiddle player Cory Churko, and two male backup singer/dancers. With this catalog, though, the music basically takes a backseat to the songs.

The star was in good voice throughout the set, most likely assisted by a vocal track. At times, like on the ballad “You’re Still the One” and the honky-tonk swing tune “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?,” she grabbed an acoustic guitar, from which she created very little sound.

Her heavy-hitting female drummer, on a rolling kit, joined her at the front of the stage for a rousing run through “Honey, I'm Home,” after which she thanked the (clearly outnumbered) men in the crowd for rolling with her woman’s sense of humor.

Breland, the young country/R&B singer who made friends with the crowd during his opening set, reappeared to duet on “Inhale/Exhale Air,” a high-energy song about breathing, and stayed there, appropriately, for “Party for Two.”

When he left, a dozen fans were brought on stage for some reason to stand at lamp-lighted tables for the over-the-top ballad “From This Moment On.”

For the hardcore fans, some deep cuts that she said were often requested — but maybe not THAT requested — turned up in a five-song medley. It did seem like we only needed to hear part of those.

Two of those hardcore fans, a couple, came up for a rather awkward little Q&A about their favorite Shania songs, leading into lively set-closers “Number One” and “Rock This Country!”

Stories have popped up about all the outfits for the tour, but this was no Taylor Swift fashion show. Twain, going against the grain, wore the same bodysuit for the entire main set. Then, while the one dancer distracted us with gymnastics, she changed into the black stagecoach outfit she wore in the “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” video 26 years ago.

The song climaxed the three-song encore that included “That Don't Impress Me Much” and “If You're Not in It for Love) I'm Outta Here!”

The crowd was ecstatic. Me? It impressed me just enough.

It looks like "Pretty Liar" was back in the setlist last night in Noblesville/Indianapolis. I don't know why she takes songs in and out. Plus she dumped "Queen Of Me" a couple weeks ago. So now it should be called the I'm Not The Queen Of Me tour. biggrin

If it was two shows in the same city it might be ok.

Taking Queen of Me from the setlist is very rare. I'm not a big fan of Number One, but I would replace by moving back Queen of Me.

Cheers

So happy for her and for this success. Even though I think ticket price has a key role. She played the same venues before, selling them out, but she never earned all this money.

@Matteo yes the ticket prices are higher, but she is actually selling better than previous tours at the same venues. Most of her Canadian shows are still sold out (as usual), but hereby some significant examples.

Madison - Kohl Centre
Rock This Country Tour: 8,774 / 9,845 (89%)
NOW Tour: not played
Queen of Me tour: 10,899 / 10,899 (100%) - increase 2,125 tickets

Spokane - Spokane Arena
Rock This Country Tour: 6,742 / 7,172 (94%)
NOW Tour: not played
Queen of Me tour: 10,566 / 10,566 (100%) - increase 3,824 tickets

Calgary - Scotia Saddledome
Rock This Country Tour: 19,191 / 21,128 (90%)
NOW Tour: not played
Queen of Me tour: 25,175 / 25,175 (100%) - increase 5,984 tickets

Quebec city - Videotron Centre
Rock This Country Tour: 13,284 / 13,284 (100%
NOW Tour: 12,189 / 13,415 (91%)
Queen of Me Tour: 13,301 / 13,301 (100%) - increase 1,112 tickets

Thereby in some cities she did play bigger arena’s than before, like Nashvilles Geodis Park (+ 11,000 seats compared to previous played Bridgestone Arena)

Chart Scene: Shania Twain’s ‘Queen Of Me’ Trek Scores Top Chart Debut

By Bob Allen | Pollstar | July 21, 2023

Shania Twain enters LIVE75 with the “Hot Shot” debut of the week as multiple performances on her “Queen of Me” trek earn chart eligibility, based on recently reported ticket sales figures. From her sold-out show on June 3 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, through a July 15 performance at Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana, her tour grosses total $36 million from 22 shows at 20 North American venues.

The sold-ticket average from those concerts earns the country/pop star the No. 8 ranking on the chart, the highest among touring artists appearing only at arenas and amphitheaters. All seven headliners ranked higher are on the road with stadium tours this year, with per-show ticket averages of 30,000 or more.

Twain launched the tour on April 28 in support of her sixth studio album, kicking off with a sold-out performance in Spokane, Washington, that drew 10,784 fans. From sales totals reported for 41 shows during the first three months of the tour, she has sold 647,684 tickets at 36 venues, racking up a gross of $67 million – and counting, as a September jaunt through the UK and Ireland and a second North American leg are planned for the Fall.

Among the best-performing venues on the “Queen of Me” trek was GEODIS Park in Nashville, Tennessee that logged the highest gross on the tour so far, a $3.6 million haul from 27,707 sold seats at the city’s Major League Soccer facility on June 7. The venue with the best attendance on record is Toronto’s Budweiser Stage that moved 31,659 tickets for concerts on June 23 and 24. Those performances earned a gross of $3.2 million.

Review: Shania Twain brought inclusive energy to her Queen of Me tour at Dos Equis

By Rich Lopez | Dallas Voice | July 22, 2023

With her big hits and a handful of new songs from her latest album, Shania Twain served up glamour and charm through a hefty, energetic set Friday night at Dos Equis Pavilion for her Queen of Me tour stop in Dallas. Throughout her two-plus hour show, she even threw in nods to her queer fans which only added to her gay icon status.

Not making it too much of a surprise as a spotlight shone in the middle of the audience, Twain opened the show amid her fans on the main walkway of Dos Equis with “Waking Up Dreaming.”  In a blond bob on a rolling platform, she gave some major face time to her audience. The opening served more as a preamble because the energy exploded when she and her band and backup singers hit the stage with “Up!”

Spacey colorful visuals played behind her as she rolled out high energy hits “Don’t Be Stupid” and “I’m Gonna Getcha Good.”

In the more upbeat songs, Twain delivered her tunes with a relaxed confidence. She pranced and posed throughout the stage in glittered sneakers and her flowy cape taking the audience on a ride of hits as far back as a quarter-century that still sounded fresh and fun.

For slower moments highlighting her blockbuster ballads “You’re Still the One,” “Forever and Always” and “From this Moment On,” she’d often include audience members. She had couples onstage of all types that included two same-sex couples and took pictures with each. To add to that, she read a fan letter from a mother her wrote that Twain was her daughter’s first crush which led to the mother and daugther being introduced onstage. A man proposed to his girlfriend during their time onstage.

The show looked stunning with its clever animated backgrounds and name-checking Texas and Dallas in her set. As much of a spectacle as it was, Twain also let her songs do the talking. The audience ate it up with roars, applause and dancing in the aisles much to the dismay of the perturbed staff trying to keep order. If there was a detriment, it was that — even with her variety of songs the energy of the show rarely ebbed and flowed. It was almost a static consistency so that when she finished with “Rock this Country,” it didn’t feel like we were at the end.

That didn’t hurt the show by any means. The encore was going to be obvious. With a quick change and thankfully a not-too-long wait, Twain and company roared back with “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “I’m Outta Here.” She thanked the city and then it finally happen.

“Let’s go girls” was all the audience had been waiting to hear and in her video’s original black mini get up, “Man, I Feel LIke a Woman” was like a bomb dropping on Dos Equis and the packed house was living their best life.

"Come On Over" and "Queen Of Me" were back in the setlist last night in Houston.

Setlist (left out "Come On Over")

Shania Twain Rips the Roof Off The Woodlands Pavilion

By John Amar | Houston Press | July 23, 2023

Last night at The Woodlands, Shania Twain, who at this point in her career should be referred to in only superlatives — Legend, Icon, and Queen — rocked The Woodlands with a magnetic stage presence and a high voltage, celebratory career spanning set list that, coupled with the Texas heat, might as well have beat us all to a pulp.

“Houston, you are on fire,” Twain told the sold out pavilion before playing Come On Over’s title track, practically punctuating each word of her declaration with hand-clap and fire flame emojis.

Her current Queen of Me Tour postures itself in support of Twain’s newest album of the same name, but it really shines as a Come On Over 25th Anniversary Tour. That mammoth record was on display last night more than any other in her storied discography that transcended country music, crossed over into stadium rock, and ascended into pop stratospheres.

Twain breathed colossal energy into her earlier earthquakin’ cuts (“Any Man of Mine”), led the shed through a three part harmony choir class (“Honey, I’m Home”), draped the stage in capital-P Patriotic visuals (“Rock This Country!”), and channeled her instantly recognizable vocal subtleties with sizzling dexterity (“If You’re Not In It For Love I’m Outta Here!”).

After an understated show opening entrance mid-crowd (“Waking Up Dreaming”), the tour’s production value kicked into its highest gear of the night with Twain emerging onstage — red dress, red wig — backed by visuals of a launching rocket ship and sky high fog cannons (“Up!”). After liftoff, Twain appeared on a metallic, horse-shaped motorcycle (“I’m Gonna Getcha Good!”), because what other mode of transit do you take after the Apollo Shania?

Some of the night’s strongest offerings, and most human moments, were in the ballads. Twain’s impeccable songwriting here still rings earnest (“You’re Still The One”), sweeping (“Forever and For Always,” with an especially generous vocal performance), and, this writer will shamelessly admit, breathtaking (“From This Moment On”).

But the highlight of the night was Twain’s one-two punch encore of “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” complete with the original outfit from the latter’s music video.

“This girl has never been on the live stage before, so this is - it’s her first tour after being in a museum for 25 years actually,” she told the fired up crowd in between the two songs that all but define her musical legacy.

“It’s just so wonderful to still be sharing all of these fabulous memories and music together after 25 years. Thank you so much for still being here with me. And I hope this night has made you feel incredible. Let’s take the roof off!

What followed could also be described in only superlatives: pure bliss, totally crazy, no you-know-whats given, and some really big time Let’s Go Girls Energy.

Cheers to 25 more years, Shania.

Shania Twain – Queen of NYC & Just About Everything Else

By Debra Kate Schafer | The Aquarian | July 26, 2023

Have you spent every day of the last two weeks waking up and feeling like you were still dreaming, still on cloud nine?

Yes? You, too?

In the case, how was your night with Shania Twain at MSG? As outstanding as ours? We hope so!

Earlier this month, on July 11, Shania Twain brought the exuberance of Las Vegas to the World’s Most Famous Arena. This is something she has been doing all summer long – taking stages and sparkling on them unforgivingly. (Bright lights and neon on-screen graphics depicting Twain’s ‘saloon’ aren’t enough. In the words of Taylor Swift, the mega-star arrives on stage every night truly bejeweled. It’s almost as if her distinct voice and plethora of hits is an afterthought to the brilliantly fahsion-forward performance.)

Today the first run of the Queen of Me Tour comes to an end, so we’re reflecting on our time with the Queen of Country. Fans of all ages have flocked to the venues who hosted her and this whirlwind of a tour – from Music City with special guest Kelsea Ballerini to New York City with tri-state native Breland to her Quebec City with our friend TALK later this fall. It’s a concert to behold, and, as we said, one that brings the bright and shiny happenings of Sin City to an arena near you. It’s a beautifully joyful and perfectly choreographed night out – one that stay with you for mornings to come.

Although cowboy hats have become a staple at shows of just about any genre thanks to Gen Z, it was still surprising just how many concert-goers were donning the accessory at Madison Square Garden. It’s summer in the Big Apple! If you didn’t arrive with your own cowboy hat in hand or sitting gently on top of your hair (One could not be in the presence of Miss Twain with hat hair or flat hair. Man, she hates that.), the merchandise tables had you covered with pink hats that lit up and read ‘Giddy Up!’ above the brim – a nod, pun intended, to the second single from her latest LP. Needless to say, there are no shortage of bare heads at a Shania Twain concert, whether it’s a modern day performance, a look back at a nineties show, an indoor concert, or outdoors.

Genre-defier Breland was a majority of the Queen of Me Tour’s supporting act on the East Coast. And rightfully so! The sleek and soulful 20-something shares a home state with us! New Jersey representation was all over this run of dates with the Canadian-born, Switzerland-living superstar, which warms our heart. He’s also a simple, but effective storyteller. For someone who builds soundscapes out of everything from the origins of rap to the most folksy of country music, his original songs are concise and digestible. He could (and seems to be able to) make a fan out of anyone. MSG opened their hearts to him immediately – to the point that everyone was genuinely stoked to see him return to the stage for not one, but two songs alongside Twain.

Stars were in the eyes of every single fan inside of MSG this night and all throughout Shania Twain’s headlining set. One cannot help but look at the decade-spanning trailblazer and not be in complete awe. Her oldest tracks have stood the test of time, with some hitting even harder now. The somber moments come from a place of grace and gratitude. Those then get juxtaposed by sensual moments of dance and model-status posing atop a motorcycle. Line-dancing a lá backwater bars and city slicker nightclub bouncing all find a spot in the show, led wholly and completely by the singer. Still, her backing band, dancers, crew, friends, and fans have their moment – literally and figuratively.

This tour is proof of two things (outside of Miss Twain loving her fans and cowboy hats being a completely and utter fashion staple):

  1. What happens in Vegas does not have to stay in Vegas – theatrics, talent, thrill.
  2. Things do get better with age – wine, style, Shania Twain’s high-kicks.

Not only does Shania Twain take requests from the lucky fan (or fans, as two friends descended down the rows of the arena during our show) that get called on stage, she also does a medley of less-pressing, but still fan-favorite tracks – songs like “When” and “She’s Not Just a Pretty Face,” which are two personal favorites of this diehard fan. Longtime listeners also are treated to the “OG” numbers – the cowboy hat songs, if you will. “Any Man of Mine” and “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” are as on-your-feet-exciting and bold as “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” and “Queen of Me.” (However, that last one, of which the tour is named after, was not performed at The Garden. Was it missed? Not quite. The concert, like everything the singer does, was too full of life to look back and regret anything – played, not played, missed, or heard. You’re too caught up in the bucketlist moment that a Shania show feels like, the über-empowering testament of womanhood, and genuine fun that every single person in a half-mile-radius seems to be having.)

Going back to the topic of special guests on stage and memorable happenings, we would be remiss to not make a note the most vital of moments we experienced: the surprise honoring of a plaque worthy of… well, what feels like an innumerable amount of record sales. Come On Over, her 1997 chart-topping LP has just reached Double Diamond Platinum status, RIAA certified, just shy of its 25th anniversary. The history-making album took Shania Twain from country music star to pop music legend, had a record-breaking 12 singles out of its 16 tracks, and has led to more costume and style inspiration than probably ever anticipated. (The iconic top-hat-satin-suit combo from the “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” music video makes a cameo during this tour’s encore… and it’s the actual, authentic outfit from the 25-year-old video. The Garden was lucky enough to also have its original designer in attendance – no big deal.)

Close friend of Twain and Today Show personality Hoda Kotb surprised the songstress for a bond-fueling duet of “(You’re) Still the One” that led to the most melodic, heartwarming sing-a-long that the venue has ever seen since Harry Styles and Kacey Musgraves covered the track back in 2018. It was a legendary moment for a legendary artist who has yet another legendary feat under her rhinestone-studded belt.

In addition to the stars we mentioned above, tears were also in everyone’s eyes. It was special, rare, and made the longevity of this career feel grounded in reality, no matter how unrealistic it is for an artist to sell that many records (pre-streaming, at that). This is a superstar that ‘rocked this country,’ but also every other country in the world. An international success doesn’t even begin to cut it when it comes to all that this performer is, was, does, and will continue to do.

A Shania Twain concert is a bonding experience. It is lights fireworks inside of you and inspires you to chase your dreams, love yourself, find your best friends, and be as bold as humanly possible. The entertainer is humble and thoughtful, gracious with her time, conscious of her setlist, and wise in the warmest, most motherly, yet popstar-y way possible. Her voice is nearly flawless with inflections and emotions crystal clear, and it just as evident as the fact that she is savoring every opportunity, every moment, every night on this stage, on this tour, in this city, in this life. We hope it really is “up from here” for her – for us – always, because nobody wants to stop these nights or the ‘waking up dreaming’ that follows.

[Review] Shania Twain brings her Big Queen Energy to New Orleans

Shania Twain finished the first leg of her Queen of Me Tour in New Orleans on Monday night.

NOLA Concerts | July 26, 2023

Let’s go girls! It’s been five years since Shania Twain last performed in NOLA. Back in 2018, the Canadian country superstar stopped at the Smoothie King Center for her Now Tour. It’s no surprise that thousands gathered in the same arena on Monday night to see one of the best-selling music artists of all time take the stage again for her Queen of Me Tour. And everyone came ready to party! The crowd was filled with light-up cowboy hats, cheetah print clothing, cowboy boots, and lots of sparkles.

Opening Act: Mickey Guyton

Four-time Grammy nominee, Mickey Guyton opened the show. The Texas native graced the stage wearing a shimmering brown dress and silver cowboy boots. And for 30 minutes she captivated the crowd with her electric energy and glowing stage presence. During her set, she surprised the crowd and brought out fellow country star, Brittney Spencer, to help her perform a cover of Miley Cyrus’ hit “Flowers.” And she garnered a lot of cheers before performing “Nothing Compares To You” – a collaboration she has with Kane Brown. The crowd lit up the arena with their phones as Guyton ended her set with a performance of her song, “Better Than You Left Me.”

Shania Twain is Still the One

Around 9 PM, members of Twain’s began wheeling carts through the aisles. As the lights went down, the Canadian singer surprised the crowd by popping out of one of the carts while singing “Waking Up Dreaming.” I’m sure the fans in the 100 level she was next to thought it was a dream! As she rolled around the venue, fans all over the venue got a chance to see the singer up close. When the song ended, an animated spaceship with the letters ‘ST” appeared on the screen. As the rocket launched, Twain emerged from the clouds of smoke sporting a pink wing, silver cowboy boots, and a frilly pink ruffle train.

The 57-year-old singer-songwriter performed a two-hour set filled with hits from the last three decades! From “You’re Still the One” to “Any Man of Mine” to “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?”’ she played all of her greatest hits, and the crowd was singing along to every word! I’ve seen mixed reviews of Shania’s recent tour and TikTok videos of hoards of fans leaving mid-show. I can confirm that wasn’t an issue in NOLA! For some of the newer tracks like “Giddy Up!,” “Pretty Liar,” and “Queen of Me” the enthusiasm did die down a little bit but overall the energy in the arena was electric. It was clear that everyone was having a great time!

Twain was very engaging with the crowd! Besides getting up close and personal during the opening song, she also invited seven couples onto the stage. They stood next to candlelit high boy tables as Twain took the time to take pictures with each pair. The stage backdrop changed to a black-and-white building with Twain depicted to be singing from a balcony as she performed her platinum-selling hit, “From This Moment On.”

“This is the last show of this leg…and it’s so hard for me to express what all this means to be but I just can’t thank you enough. I’m really having the time of my life right now just watching you and listening to you. It’s such a gift, thank you for that,” the singer expressed gratitude to the crowd before performing “Forever and For Always. As concertgoers lit up the arena with their cell phone flashlights, Twain exclaimed, “I’m so lucky to be me. I’m looking at something so beautiful.”

The show overall was simple – one outfit change, two dancing backup singers, and a four-piece band. But what stood out for me was the production. Throughout the night, stories were told on the screen with each song. We talked about the ST spaceship. But later on, Twain climbed on a motorcycle during “I’m Gonna Getcha Good.” The destination? The Twain Town Saloon. The saloon slowly caught fire during her performance of “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” as horses and aliens ran past it. As Twain performed “Honey I’m Home” with the help of what she called the ‘New Orleans Queen Tour Choir’ aka the crowd, we were taken inside the burnt saloon. Although trashed, the words “Honey, You’re Home” were still clearly depicted on a neon sign. The visuals elevated the show!

And what’s a show without an encore? The lights went down and the ‘next train stop’ appeared on the screen with a 30-second countdown. Twain finished off with none other than two of her biggest hits, “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” Seeing both songs live was well worth being caught in traffic after the show!

Ayrton Dominos Go Royal For Shania Twain’s “Queen Of Me Tour”

By PR/Agency User | Live Design | August 1, 2023

Shania Twain

Ayrton Domino fixtures have hit the road with country music royalty accompanying multi Grammy-winner Shania Twain on her “Queen of Me” global tour.  ACT Entertainment is the exclusive distributor of Ayrton Lighting in North America.

“The show is themed around Shania’s new album, which also features a handful of her classic hits. ‘Waking Up Dreaming’ is the opening song and best describes the theme of the show,” says Nashville-based André Petrus, the tour’s Lighting Director  and Console Programmer.  “It’s a journey through space on a rocket ship which crashes into Twain Town.  The show is packed with 3D animations, including an LED floor that really gives every seat a good perspective.”

Shania Twain’s “Queen of Me Tour” will play some 80 dates throughout North America, the UK and Ireland this year.  The best-selling female artist in country music history kicked off the tour in Spokane, Washington in April; it will visit the UK and Ireland in September and wrap in Vancouver in November.  It marks Twain’s first tour in nearly five years and follows the release of her eponymous album, which is her sixth original full-length offering, her first record since 2017 and the debut of her new label partner, Republic Nashville.

Petrus explains that, “Shania creative directs her own shows and wanted the set to be made up of LED so it can consistently morph into different scenes.  She wanted to feel immersed in the content so we carried an LED floor and LED IMAG screens so the entire show feels totally enveloping."

Cory FitzGerald, a Senior Partner and Lighting Designer at Silent House Studios in Burbank, acted as Production Designer for the tour and devised the screen configuration and truss layout.

“The show started with the placement of screens, including a main upstage screen, large LED facia, LED floor and a header that borders stage right and left and the downstage,” says Petrus.  “Once the screens were confirmed then it was time to fit in the lighting with a giant box truss that runs upstage to downstage and a downstage truss that floats over the header with 13 Ayrton Dominos plus another six Dominos used for floor shin kickers.”

With such an LED video-intensive show Petrus chose Dominos for their ability to cut through the presence of so many screens.  “They are by far the brightest hard edge we carry, and the optics are phenomenal,’’ he says.  “Generally, we use them for aerial looks that really help give the entire picture a frame.”

Petrus notes that, “the support I got from ACT was top notch, as always.  Ryan Kanarek and Aria Hailey have always answered my calls and helped me through a number of situations.  Bradley Cronenwett and Doug Mekanik have set me up with anything I’ve needed.  The ACT team is great!”

BRELAND working on new material with Shania Twain: ‘If I have a relationship with someone that makes music, then we’re probably going to make a lot of music together’ [Exclusive]

As he launches into a run of UK shows, both as a headline artist and in support of Shania Twain on her ‘Queen Of Me Tour’, BRELAND reveals he’s been working with the country-pop legend on new material.

RETROPOP magazine - UK | September 7, 2023

The musician – who made waves when his debut single, My Truck, went viral following its 2019 release – last year released his debut album, ‘Cross Country’, featuring contributions from Keith Urban, Lady A and Mickey Guyton.

Now, he’s taking his blend of country, pop, R&B and hip-hop global, while continuing to build an impressive A-list fanbase.

“If you had told me five years ago that I would be coming out to the UK to play shows for five weeks – headlining my own tour and hitting the road with an international icon – I would not have believed you,” he laughs in RETROPOP’s October Introducing… feature.

Having originally been booked to appear at Twain’s US dates only, the New Jersey-born singer and rapper – real name Daniel Breland – who the only male support artist on the bill, proved such a hit that he was added to the UK shows too and invited to the studio to record a new version of Shania’s recent track, Inhale/Exhale AIR.

“While we were on the road [in the US], we hit it off so much that not only did she start bringing me on stage to do two songs [their song and 2004 single Party For Two] with her, but we also started collaborating on some other music,” he teases, adding, “There’s definitely a world in which we have some more music coming out together. I don’t know exactly when, we don’t have a date for it yet, but I’m the type of person that, if I have a relationship with someone that makes music, then we’re probably going to make a lot of music together.”

With so much under his belt already, what does the next five years look like for BRELAND? “I think it would definitely look like doing what I’m doing now but on a larger and more global scale,” he smiles. “I would love to be able to play some of these same venues that I’m opening in and headline them – I think that’s doable in five years, for sure.”

He goes on to share ambitions outside of the recording industry too; philanthropy and charity work come out high on the list, along with creative writing for screen and book projects, plus possible TV work. “Really, I want to be able to continue putting out music that people enjoy and that I enjoy and feel really good about,” he adds, “and making music will always be at the core of what I do.

“But over the next five years, I would love to be able to dip my toes and get some experience in a bunch of different areas!”

I think it was a mistake for her to exclude Unhealthy from the setlist in the UK. She actually has a current hit there.
