***It sounds like Shania will be performing. One of Kelsea's hints is "this is my favorite female artist".
The 2023 CMT Music Awards will be held in Austin, Texas on April 2 at the Moody Center. The awards show will be hosted by Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown and air at 8:00pm ET on CBS.

Here's my question. How the hell do you perform a song (i.e. "Giddy Up!") at a Country music awards show when the song isn't even Country or played on Country radio?

Well it hasn't been confirmed it's Shania Twain yet. If she does perform perhaps another single would be released??? "Giddy Up!" is catchy. Perfect song to sing as far as I'm concerned. Besides it will increase her airplay on Adult Contemporary radio at least. LOL! Just getting her to perform, I don't care about Country radio. Besides CMT has always been a huge supporter even when Country radio wasn't. I'm still not convinced it will be Shania Twain only because why now??? Perhaps to help promote the tour. If she does perform it will be huge. Maybe singing the song might just get Country radio to play it. LOL!
I have a hard time believing Shania will perform. She hasn't performed at a country award show since before she lost her voice and she doesn't really attend many of them either. She's presented at a few but it's been a while.
Many country artists have collaborated with non-country artists in the past (with divided opinions). Shania could be collaborating OR perform on her own. We will see.
Shania Twain is her favorite female country artist? Plus she is beautiful. I would perform Giddy up, Who cares about country radio. Unless another single gets released. Tommy what are your thoughts. You think it is Shania?
The only two real country songs on "Queen of Me" are the Target bonus tracks. A medley of Any Man of Mine Who's Beds Have Your boots Been Under? and maybe Giddy Up could work...
Tommy You think Shania will release a new single soon and perform it at the CMT music awards? Maybe she will perform Giddy up? If she is actually showing up. I mean Kelsea is A huge Shania fan and to only give a hint it must be Shania because who else would the suprise or hint be.

I think Kelsea must be hinting about Shania. Like you said, who else could be Kelsea's favorite female artist? I think Shania will probably sing another medley which will include "Giddy Up!" and maybe "Waking Up Dreaming". We'll see. The next round of performers will probably be announced this week.

Says more performance announcements coming? I thought Shania was her favorite female country artist. Still not convinced. Then again Shania doesn't do award shows. Not sure why because Giddy up hasn't done that bad on AC radio. Might not be country but it certainly is a good catchy song
Morissette's appearance on the awards show stage will be her CMT Music Awards debut. She will lead a group performance of her landmark of her 1995 smash hit, "You Oughta Know," in celebration of the CMT Next Women of Country's 10th anniversary, joined by program alumni Ingrid Andress, Lainey Wilson, Madeline Edwards and Morgan Wade, plus Jackie Venson on guitar.
Meanwhile, Twain's performance will be paired with a special honor for the country legend: She will receive the third annual CMT Equal Play Award, a trophy that goes to an artist whose work amplifies and advocates for "diverse and underrepresented voices" in the country genre. This award has previously been given to Jennifer Nettles as well as Linda Martell, the latter of whom was the first Black woman to perform on the Grand Ole Opry and Hee Haw during her trailblazing career in the 1970s.
Make some noise for our CMT Equal Play Honoree, @ShaniaTwain 🎉 Tune in to the #CMTAwards this Sunday on @CBS to see her receive this award! The CMT Equal Play Award recognizes an artist who is a visible and vocal advocate for elevating diverse and underrepresented voices in country music.

While I am so happy that Shania is performing and accepting an award - has anyone else noticed that ever since her comeback, the only time she ever performs on an award show is if she is winning some big award? She never just performs on them. It'll most likely be another medley given her track record.
Are we sure Shania is PERFORMING? The official CMT press release doesn't say anything about a performance.

The night is a fan-voted celebration of the best in country music. With four nods, Lainey Wilson is the leading nominee. Cody Johnson, Brown and Jelly Roll each have three nominations.

The finalists are Blake Shelton - "No Body"; Carrie Underwood - "Hate My Heart"; Cody Johnson - "Human"; HARDY feat. Lainey Wilson - "wait in the truck"; Kane Brown & Katelyn Brown - "Thank God"; Morgan Wallen - "You Proof." Country music fans can still vote for their favorites at vote.cmt.com.
A fan-favorite at the CMT Music Awards, Underwood is the winningest artist in CMT Music Awards show history.
Underwood is vying for her fifth consecutive Video of the Year win and 10th in the category.
If Kane Brown and Katelyn Brown win, they will be the first husband and wife duo to pick up the coveted trophy. If Shelton wins, the triumph will mark his second time capturing "Video of the Year." If Cody Johnson, HARDY, Lainey Wilson or Morgan Wallen win, it would be their first in Video of the Year.

I'm truly honoured to be receiving the @CMT Equal Play Award at the 2023 #CMTAwards this Sunday of course! My trailblazing ways have always got me far in life and now I have the privilege of shining a light on other unquestionable talent ❤️🔥😘 Keep kicking down doors, bending rules and rebelling against what is expected because it's inspiring to us all - I wouldn’t have achieved anything if I stayed between the lines! Tune into the #CMTAwards at 8/7c on @CBS - Giddy Up! 🤠

Billboard is also saying she is performing but they are just piggybacking off Taste of Country (or vice versa). It's basically the same article.
Just letting you guys know there was a pretty obvious hint she’ll be performing Giddy Up! on the last sentence of her latest Instagram stories post.
Same thing on Twitter:

Why wouldn't the official CMT press release above or their Social Media accounts announce she is performing?

I'd say performance, Usually a major award she does sing. Giddy up will be sung based on Shanias Twitter statement. Kelsea said her favorite female artist and she would be performing. Plus she wore the queen of me sweater recently. It makes sense to do a performance. I'll say yes. I love the award she is getting perfect time to speak up for women in country music. CMT has always been a major supporter of Shania and a performance makes sense.

Performing "Giddy Up!" at the CMT Music Awards would be strange. I don't even think CMT plays the "Giddy Up!" dance/music video. Plus the song isn't played on Country radio. I bet most Country music fans and listeners haven't heard the song. If she sings it as part of a medley, then okay I guess. Based on the CMT press release I'm still not convinced she is performing.

By Kelsey Bradshaw | Austin American-Statesman | March 28, 2023
Pop music powerhouses Shania Twain, Gwen Stefani and Alanis Morissette are coming to Austin for the Country Music Television Awards on Sunday, the show announced Tuesday.

This year's CMT Awards show at Moody Center marks the first time the show will be held in Austin. In previous years, the ceremony has been held in Nashville.
The 2023 show will be hosted by Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown. Watch a live broadcast at 7 p.m. Sunday on KEYE or stream it on Paramount+. Find tickets to the Moody Center show at ticketmaster.com.
We should have expected that. 😓 It's so sad that she has never performed the 2 singles from the album, but only a verse of WUD during the People's Choice Awards medley. She was basically everywhere during the NOW promotion with Life's About To Get Good. I don't get it. 😔
My website and message board is the only place that has posted Shania is not performing at the CMT Music Awards. All the other fan pages (Facebook, Twitter, etc) have everyone thinking she is performing.

She could perform but I agree with Tommy I think it would be announced if she was. Unless Kelsea was correct on her performing. She didn't say Shania but it could very well be a surprise performance. Giddy up when she posted on Twitter sounded like a hint She would be singing the song. If she ain't performing the music at an awards show how will she sing live? She said her voice is stronger then ever. If she sings Giddy up it would do much better on AC Radio. So personally she could have had a bigger hits on that chart had she of sung and promoted the singles. Personally I don't like the new record label and I wish Jason Owen was still her manager because he would have her on stage performing.

I accidentally clicked back to rewatch the live and came across Shania straight away. Surprised ! I thought I didn't recognize her, but I saw a beautiful woman, and it was Shania. Everything is fine with her ! She could be a model. The haircut is reminiscent of That don't impress me much.
