Shania Twain returning to Las Vegas! -

This all feels like a continuation of the QoM tour 🙄. The promotion from Shania and the Bakkt Theater is using photos and videos taken from the tour very heavily. She also was cutting and making her own costumes back stage again. The drumset (unless they change it before opening night) says "Queen of Me" on it. I would prefer a "classic Shania" show like the 1st residency, NOW tour, or Let's Go residency than another show with ridiculous wigs, costumes and weird graphics.

I'm assuming some residency print interviews will be posted online this week. No TV interviews show up on my on-screen program guide. Not even "Entertainment Tonight". In the past they've gone to Las Vegas to do a pre-residency interview with Shania.

There's been hardly any promotion and she's using photos from her Queen of Me tour. Kinda strange.

Well, I think this residency will be the Queen of Me Tour 2.0, only in Vegas. There'll be some songs not performed during the Tour, but in the end it'll be the same thing. More hits, less QoM songs.

I agree, I want to see a classic Shania Twain just like the Still The One residency and the Let's Go residency, not this Barbie weird and ridiculous, nonces costumes and wigs.

I hope she retires the bleach blonde and fire-engine red wigs because they look the worst. On one hand I can admit it’s petty to make a fuss over her hair — she’s having fun, enjoy the show… —but on the other hand, I agree it’s a distraction for the audience and a needless one on her part. She looks best with her signature brunette and reaction online overwhelmingly reflects that. Does her team shelter her from the negative responses?

She is simply doing what makes her happy. She’s made that clear in recent interviews.  If fans don’t want to go to a show because of the color of her hair, so be it; stay home. I assume Shania would be at peace with that.

I for one attended two of the Queen of Me shows and had a great time and will be in vegas next week to catch the show! Not a huge fan of some of the wigs but she looks like she is actually enjoying herself and that is good enough for me! Anyone else going to be that the show on the 15th?

I started watching the livestream at YTSO. Here is the set list after that:

YTSO
NONTK
FAFA
COO
AMOM
Giddy Up!
I Ain't No Quitter
Boots
HIH
FTMO
TDIMM
Party for Two (w/ Lindsay Ell)
RTC
IOH
MIFLAW

Everything was completely live except for FTMO. Her voice sounds really rough and playback should be added imo. MIFLAW sounded absolutely ridiculous - somehow it's even worse than the version from the QoM tour.

I think this is her best vocals since The first Vegas residency. I think Brent wanted to switch the songs up meaning do them in a different order and the style was a bit different. Honestly this is the best I've seen her in over a decade. Not sure who will agree with me but any thoughts Tommy?

I think the overall sound production is greatly improved from the QOM tour with the one exception being MIFLAW. I think most of the songs sounded pretty good, I'm just concerned about the condition of her voice. It sounded pretty rough and I worry that it can't handle singing almost an entire show completely live each night.

In regards to MIFLAW, she is singing the harmony instead of the melody again but the difference this time is that you can actually hear it appropriately. I just don't understand why she doesn't either rearrange the song in a lower key where she will be able to hit those notes or just bring back the backing track from Let's Go.

It seems that the concert is a combination of Let’s go and QoM tour. Nothing new in terms of creativity. I don’t know why she still takes out her MIFLAW outfit. The show is promoting recycling.

However, she finally sings live for the whole show, esp the ending of MIFLAW

The dress she wore for From this Moment On looks like a modified version of the dress she wore during Let's Go to open the show and sing Rock this Country.

And the dress she wore during the Any Man of Mine "Twain Town Saloon" set looks like a modified version of the MIFLAW dress from Let's Go.

The motorcycle from IGGG is reused from QoM tour and the dancer's choreography with the lights is the same at the NOW Tour/Let's Go.

This is the third show with the same "Twain Town Saloon" stage design for the AMOM/Boots set.

The song requests she talked so much about ended up her singing one line of the chorus of a song without the band. These included I'm Jealous, When and Black Eyes Blue Tears.

She also curses a lot and there's was a really odd segment before NONTK where she talks about losing her virginity when she was 15.

Shania Twain launches third Vegas residency

The new Planet Hollywood show is light on production and heavy on the hits, to the delight of Twain’s fans

By Matt Bailey | The Music Universe | May 10, 2024

Shania Twain kicked off her third Las Vegas sit-down on Friday (May 10th). The Come On Over residency is her second at Planet Hollywood.

Shania proved she is still a big-ticket draw as she packed fans in from around the globe for this opening night at Bakkt Theater. They sang every word, hanging on to the emotion of every hit that Twain performed.

The Come on Over residency is certainly Twain’s most stripped-down Vegas show. It draws inspiration from last summer’s Queen of Me trek. Twain’s space-age world-building expands for the massive OLED wall and proscenium. Stunning desert traffic accompanies the acoustic guitar section. The Starship ST returns for “Up,” and many more surprises come to life on the back wall.

Shania also got exceedingly intimate with the crowd. For the families, there was the wholesome interaction with a nine-year-old to whom Twain gave the mic to sing a few a capella bars of “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” to a massive ovation. For the stays-in-Vegas crowd, she blurted out that she lost her virginity at 15 to a boy from Toronto. Such revelatory moments made it feel like the show was between her and a few thousand “girlfriends.”

Musically, the show is exactly what you’d hope for from Shania Twain. Poppy singalongs, feminine ballads, and tongue-in-cheek numbers combine to make her iconic and oft-cited country-pop catalog. As promised, all of her hits were present. Shania also took the opportunity to showcase where newer songs including “Waking Up Dreaming” and “Giddy Up” fit into that repertoire. And the latter is definitely an earworm still ringing.

Another highlight: Twain surprised the inaugural crowd with Canadian country star Lindsey Ell. The pair performed on the duet “Party for Two.”

Shania’s backing band was tight, and carried on even in moments where the technology keeping them in time—that is, in-ear monitors and the wedges providing “stage sound”— betrayed them. (Though those should be smoothed out in short order, should her team’s notorious attention to detail be counted on.) All four core string players, including a harpist, shined on a musical interlude leading into “From This Moment On.”

The coolest thing about Come On Over is that it’s the most “concert-style” show Twain has mounted since making her live comeback over a decade ago. The huge set pieces, floating boxes, and stage-sized top hat have gone (Well, except the Twain Town Saloon, where her biggest fans get to share a bar top with their hero).

What’s left is a legendary performer who seems to finally be able to bask in her close relationship with her fans, and has found a confidence in her voice that she was searching to regain over the last decade. It’s clear that she finally understands that her fans care for her as much as she does them. They’ll Come On Over any time Shania Twain extends the invitation.

Hi all,

At this point in time I'm happy she's even trying to do a complete show and sing. And we will always have our favorites in her carrier history, anyway. For me there will never be a show like the Up! Tour and the first Vegas residency, very classy, beautiful and emotional.

But anyway I wish Vegas was closer for me to see her again.
If you have the chance go and have fun 😊

Cheers.

Shania Twain Talks 20-Lb Dresses, Wigs and Losing Her Virginity as She Kicks Off Latest Vegas Run (Exclusive)

The musical icon talked to PEOPLE the day after the first show of her new Vegas residency

By Mark Gray | PEOPLE | May 12, 2024

Shania Twain began her third Las Vegas residency on Friday, May 10, and it was a crowd-pleaser!

The first evening of the Come on Over residency show at Planet Hollywood’s Bakkt Theater was not only energetic, but it was also personal — so personal that the country superstar, 58, told the opening night crowd about losing her virginity at 15 years old to someone from Toronto.

“I’m comfortable with the environment and I feel friendly with everybody, so I feel at home,” she explained to PEOPLE of the moment during a conversation the following day.

Twain also shared her delight at how the first performance of her new residency went, saying “I’m not just relieved, I'm really happy.”

“I was really able to enjoy the adrenaline, because adrenaline can also throw you off," she added.

In the months leading up to the new residency show, Twain, spoke lovingly about showcasing fashion in Come on Over, which includes her wigs. However, as she explained to PEOPLE, the size of her collection is "not bad."

“I probably have 10 natural wigs that are my natural hair just for bad hair days kind of thing,” she said. "Then I have 10 color wigs. I don't have a ton. Twenty is not bad.”

Her latest favorite, she says, is her fair pink wig, which she’s been rocking for the better part of the year.

“It's the closest to what I will look like when I'm completely gray,” she joked.

“She's called Fiona and she probably weighs, I am guessing, around 20 pounds, maybe more, maybe even 20 to 30 pounds. She is a structure. I designed her,” Twain said of the dress, adding that took “weeks” to make.

“I already knew what it was meant to be and then it was just about adding the right amount. It was kind of like putting a puzzle together. But I already knew what puzzle was going to look like, what it wanted it to look like. It's a production to get her in place, to get her on, to get her off," she explained.

It's amazing to see she's almost back at 100% live. Even songs like Forever and For Always which haven't been live since 2004!!

Her voice is also getting stronger and stronger live which you can hear on the version of Love gets me every time last Saturday:

However she forgot to lipsync many parts of Don't be Stupid. Maybe she heard a live track herself?? They also forgot to start the track or open the mic at the beginning:

I had the pleasure of being in the fourth row on opening night. I must say she sounded even greater at the show, and her energy was great!

There were some small kinks, but given that it was opening night, it makes sense. Those of the group who went Saturday night also said all of those kinks were worked out.

I did however wonder where the fan request portion of the show was as other than a couple random acapella verses after some fan mentions, it wasn't structured into the show like she mentioned in a previous interview.

It is 100% live (or almost). It's awesome. She does less choreography and is more passionate about singing (the main thing after all). On the other hand, her promises of an incredible wardrobe are nothing crazy. Her giant transparent ball is not. Reused sets and even outfits, nothing incredible. But the music is the main thing.

I think this is her best sounding band since the first residency, maybe even the Up tour. I was worried with Derek Frank's comment about Shania turning to prerecorded instrumentals but I have no complaints at all.

The strong instrumentals really carry her and supplement in certain parts of songs that are difficult to sing. Everything is blended well and the background singers don't overpower her like they did on the QoM tour. There are certain songs where I would prefer playback like FAFA and MIFLAW but I love that she's singing live again.

It seems Brent Barcus is trying a slightly different production on several of the songs rather than the production that has been used for the past several shows and residencies. It sounds much closer to Mutt's original production and the instrumentals really shine. There are many subtle changes throughout the show that differentiate it from the previous instrumentals.

The instrumentals are much tighter, cohesive, and brighter sounding than the QoM tour and the Let's Go and NOW bands in my opinion.

I don't think the two band members Cory and Dreke leaving to cause any issues with the sound of the band. I think the additional two new members of the band work. I like Lindsey in the band she is a great singer too!

Global Superstar, Celebrated Songwriter, and Style Icon Shania Twain is a five-time GRAMMY winner and one of music and fashion’s most renowned trailblazers. With six albums released and more than 100 million albums sold worldwide, Twain remains the top-selling female country pop artist of all time. Twain’s first album in 15 years, NOW, was released in September 2017 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 albums, making it the first female country release in over three years to top the all-genre chart. The release was followed by a year-long sold-out NOW World Tour. In 2021, Shania kicked off her second residency in Las Vegas called “Let’s Go!,” which completely sold out and continued through September 2022. In April 2023, Shania kicked off her sold-out global Queen of Me tour, which ran through November 2023, and was one of the Top 10 highest-grossing country tours of the year.

Everything You Need To Know About Shania Twain's Las Vegas Residency

By Haley Bosselman | Vegas Magazine | May 17, 2024

Shania Twain has returned to Las Vegas with another residency following the mega success of her sold-out Queen of Me Tour that captured the world in 2023. She now commemorates 25 years of her legend-making third album with Shania Twain: Come On Over – The Las Vegas Residency – All The Hits! A celebration of one of music’s greatest sensations, the show makes for a can’t-miss event of the year.

“Returning to Las Vegas feels like coming home, especially to the beloved Bakkt Theater,” Twain shared. “Celebrating Come On Over with my fans each night is an incredible experience. I'm thrilled to continue this unforgettable journey with everyone here in Las Vegas!”

Read on for everything you need to know about attending the show.

The Basics

Shania Twain: Come On Over – The Las Vegas Residency – All The Hits! will have shows at Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino through Dec. 14. Performances begin at 8 p.m. Also of note, $1 of every ticket will benefit Shania Kids Can, which provides programs that educate, inspire and empower children in vulnerable communities.

Bag Policy

Leave your large purse at home— it’s better for dancing and singing the night away, anyway. More importantly, the Bakkt Theater doesn’t allow large bags, backpacks or suitcases into the venue. You’ll also need to finish any outside food or drinks before entering, and be sure to forego signs, banners, flags or selfie sticks.

Arrival

Give yourself plenty of time to make it to your seats. Between getting through security, one final bathroom pitstop and ordering a round of drinks, it’s best to arrive 30 minutes to an hour before the show starts and that’s just once you’re at the theater. You’ll also want to take into consideration that the Bakkt Theater is in the epicenter of the Las Vegas Strip; it’s about a five-minute walk from the Paris Las Vegas station or a nine-minute walk from the Caesars Palace station. Alternatively, if you plan to drive, make it easy by heading to the garage and valet entrance on Harmon Avenue for direct access to the hotel.

Where To Eat And Drink

The Bakkt Theater offers standard concert food and beverage options, so you’ll be set on the likes of hydrating water, a pre-show snack and a c0cktail. However, if you want to elevate your evening, we suggest giving yourself enough time for a pre-Shania dinner. Planet Hollywood makes it easy with its culinary lineup. Opt for a hearty bite to eat at Gordon Ramsay Burger Las Vegas or P.F. Chang’s or make it an extra special evening with a dinner at Strip House Steakhouse. Alternatively, make it an extravagant night out with a nearby dinner at The Cosmopolitan or Paris where you can choose from decadent options like Scarpetta, Beauty & Essex, Blue Ribbon, STK, Zuma or É by José Andrés and Nobu, Gordon Ramsay Steak, Mon Ami Gabi or Eiffel Tower Restaurant, respectively.

What To Expect

Get ready to put those dancing boots to work. Twain’s set tracks you through her beloved catalog and treats audiences to chart-topping hits and fan-favorite songs, invigorating the night with the likes of "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!," “From This Moment On,” “You’re Still The One” and "That Don't Impress Me Much.” Based on her recent residency performances, you can expect the show to run for about 20 songs.

The Bakkt Theater is located in Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Resort & Casino at 3667 S Las Vegas Blvd 89109.

Instead of the usual Wed, Fri, Sat show schedule, the final 3 shows for this group of 8 shows are on Thu, Sat & Sun (May 23, 25 & 26). Maybe for the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

I wonder what Shania's plans are for after December? I wonder if she'll extend her residency and do a full two year run. I can't see someone like Lindsay Ell being in her band for two years given she has her own career.

My theory on why this residency is at the Bakkt Theater and why it is so similar to Let's Go and the QoM tour and the cost savings is that maybe she had some sort of contractual agreement with Planet Hollywood for Let's Go and because of the pandemic she still owes them shows.

Shania still seems to be in a very celebritory mood and wants to be on stage so I wonder if a Spring/Summer 2025 tour is in the works. I could also see her staying in Vegas but I don't see a new album for at least three years. But who knows.
