Going to see Shania? This is the guy who booked her

Pete Quinton booked Shania Twain for the Churchill Park Music Festival in St. Johnâs. He talks public reaction and offers tips for getting early tickets.
I live up the street from where this event will be. It's taken so long to get Shania Twain here that you wouldn't believe the excitement for the people of St. John's, Newfoundland. Being on an Island in the North Atlantic, I'm glad we have finally got her to headline here. I can't wait to get tickets.Â
Brother of Harry Hibbs Reflects on Shania Twainâs NL Connection
VOCM 590AM - St. John's | March 30, 2024
Country megastar Shania Twain is coming to the Churchill Park Music festival this August, but her connection to this province dates back to the late 70s and Newfoundland musical icon Harry Hibbs.
Marty Hibbs, the brother of the late musician, remembers hiring Twain, who he refers to by her birthname Eilleen, at the Conception Bay Club in Toronto.
He explains that Harry Hibbs would travel back and forth between Ontario and Newfoundland, and would perform at the club once every two weeks.
In the interim, he needed someone to perform with their house band, and hired a 15 or 16 year old Twain to do so. He also hired the singerâs mother to work in the kitchen.Â
Hibbs says Twain performed every weekend at the club and would have been there when Harry was around.
He says Twain talks about her time at âthe Irish clubâ in her book, and mentions âhis nibbsâ Harry Hibbs by name.
Hibbs describes knowing Twain and her mom âquite intimately,â and was very proud to see her success.
He says he ran into her after she become well known and they had a chance to talk for a bit. He says Twain âearned her stripesâ by performing in clubs at such a young age.
Canada I can always count on you! SOLD OUT IN ST JOHNâS IN RECORD TIME đ€ đ„ So weâre playing another @CPMFEST show for you gorgeous east coasters!! Tickets for August 18th are on sale 10:30am EDT/12:00pm NDT 4/6.
I'm from Newfoundland and live in St. John's, Newfoundland. I've never ever seen an artist Headline three shows in Newfoundland before. I've seen multiple arena shows but this goes above and beyond anything I've ever seen. I managed to get tickets for Saturday's show but it was a struggle. Alot of people got upset that they couldn't get tickets. So they had to add a third show. Each show will hold 12,000 plus fans a night. Newfoundland only has a population of over 500,000 people and the city of St. John's and surrounding areas only has over 200,000 people. It's unlike anything I've ever seen for any artist. She will be treated like a queen here when she arrives. Happy đ
Oh Canada, we sure do know a thing or two about a HAT TRICK đđ„° Not only did you sell out all three of my @churchillparkmusicfestival shows in record time, Iâve been told itâs also broken the record for the most tickets sold by any artist in Newfoundland and Labrador!! đ„đ„đ„ Iâm honoured to be a part of Canadian history once again! Cheers to beautiful Canada, letâs drink to that in August!!
