Great work! I have some revisions I think I’ve found. Still not sure what the first line in the second verse is though so I put it in brackets. We’ll eventually figure it out. Team effort haha!

 Good catches as well... I've now made some edit lol.

- Your first line edit could be right... is it burned or burnt?
- 'Til the light ain't shining, lightening struck.
- Your edits in the chorus seems right to me. I hear "hard man" but I sometimes think I hear "hard working man"
- On the second verse... weight lifting pain(?), left it outta my life... still iffy on that first part.

Shania Twain Journeys to the Past on ‘Little Miss Twain’

"Like clockwork, I knew a new day’d come,” sings Shania Twain on her seventh studio album Little Miss Twain. Described as a personal passion project, the record sees the country crossover star fully embracing her country roots as she reckons with the origins of her music career. Long before she was Shania or even Eilleen, her given name, the singer was Little Miss Twain from Timmins, a small mining town in northern Ontario, Canada. Twain’s dedicated fanbase is surely aware of the poverty and tragedy that bookended the singer’s early life, but never has she delved as deeply into the archive on Little Miss Twain. Against all odds, the album is surprisingly upbeat for a narrative about sad beginnings.

More than anything, Little Miss Twain is a love letter to the singer’s late mother, who acted as something of a manager when Twain first began performing as an underage preteen in local bars after they had stopped serving alcohol. “According to my mother, I’m the next Tanya Tucker,” sings Twain on the title track, which lovingly features guest vocals from Tucker herself. Where Twain’s mother pushed her to pursue her evident musical gifts from a young age in a quiet plea to free their family from a home plagued by financial hardship and domestic violence,  Twain recalled a rebellious urge to push back and follow her own path, undoubtedly influenced by needing to be everything to everyone from far too young an age.

“Don’t call me ’cause I can’t help / Call somebody else,” she sings on “Quit My Life”, a portrait of a girl and woman who’s always had to carry everyone else’s emotions. Everything came to a grinding halt when Twain’s mother and adoptive father were killed in a car accident when she was 22, prompting her to leave the city and move back home to save her underage siblings from being placed in foster care. In an ironic turn of events, the personal tragedy Twain suffered forced her to fall back on her innate ability for performing, moving her family to Huntsville, Ontario, where she took up employment as an entertainer at a local resort.

While the story of Shania Twain’s coming of age as a musician is an undercurrent throughout the entire record, its most personal offering is arguably the ode to her hometown, “Northern Town”. She sings of bringing home a Dairy Queen treat for her mother to hide the fact that her father had been out drinking, of cutting family members’ hair, of friends who moved on and away to bigger things: “Oh, just so you know, I’m ready to go / Down if you stick around.” However, it’s the last line of the chorus that makes the song hit home for Twain and certainly anyone else scarred by loss: “Oh, I wish you were still around.” Although the singer attributes the line to friends who moved away, one can’t help but think she’s singing about her parents, flaws and all.

Elsewhere, Little Miss Twain embodies an old-school country flair reminiscent of the Chicks‘ earlier work while eschewing the misogyny still found in the genre. Twain tries her hand at her own take on political correctness on “Problematic”, in which she confesses she’s just someone who needs a partner: “I’m a woman who needs a man / Can’t help myself, it’s just who I am.” And if speaking such a truth indeed makes her problematic, she doesn’t mind at all. The LP closes with “Rockstars”, a hopeful antithesis to “Northern Town” and its teary nostalgia. “Winters are white, and the lakes freeze over / And the rock stars / Rock stars never get older,” she sings of growing up and holding onto dreams in harsh Canadian winters.

Although the track could be interpreted as Twain romanticizing a rural upbringing that often included not enough food to feed her family, it’s instead a sign of a modern music legend shedding light on and finding closure around a period in her life she had only ever discussed in the occasional interview or her autobiography. The singer sees the record as molding both parts of herself together: the first part being her life when she was Little Miss Twain with her mother’s dreams of stardom, and the second encompassing Twain’s rise to global superstardom after her mother’s untimely death. While her mother might never have lived to see how much the early work paid off, we have the privilege of a glimpse into Shania Twain’s past, present, and future.

Streaming now it’s so important and her numbers were too poor, when you think on Spotify numbers and see those numbers thinking it’s global streaming all the signals were there , Tommy said it .

It’s not an easy album , it’s gonna grow on everyone but only for real fans , for my friends she’s the one who had some hits in the beginnings of 2000 but then disappeared, in Europe come on over arrived late , then arrived up and nothing more in 20 years , everything changed in industry .

Anyway let’s forget those charts and enjoy we have 19 new songs.

A #131 chart debut would only be a disaster if Shania/Republic had truly been trying to sell the album... which they really weren't. As I said previously, Shania cares about making music and the label cares about making money. Shania got to make the album (which, apart from the mixing, is really fantastic), and the label will get their cut of the ticket sales when she tours. At that point, both major objectives will have been met.

It's not like it's a problem to want things for her that she is ambivalent about for herself, but it's kind of weird to consider it a failure when she doesn't meet goals that she very clearly isn't pursuing.

Almost all the artists at her age aren't played by the radio. She knows it and her label knows it.
Like some of you said, this is not an easy album, Queen of Me was much easier and easy listening.
We fans'd like to see the artists we love always on top but sadly it's not how it works nowadays.

 I agree 100%. This album may appeal to her original Debut and TWIM fans but it won't appeal to the ones that hopped on board via COO's Man! I Feel Like a Woman/That Don't Impress Me Much + Up fans.

This is just a scenario of what I think would have to happen for Shania to get attention and reach a higher charting album (which I don't care): She would have to release an high quality sounding, amazingly produced album to chart big and that is not something easy to do. Her lyrics would have to polished 'a la Mutt'. Her lyrics are great, but they are more raw and rough around the edges. Mutt was a perfectionist to every last note, sound, and lyric. Even musicians who performed on COO and Up said he was not easy to work for, because he would make them do retakes until it was the way he wanted it to sound. Her sound would have to be a mix of country pop such as COO/UP with a sprinkle of TWIM. She would have to work with a well known good producer to be able to achieve this. I know not popular with many, and this is just at the top of my head, but I think Jack Antonoff would be able to do something great with Shania. Best case scenario, Mutt would have to change his mind on working with Shania again. She's open to it but he's not.

Since her comeback (Now to present), she's struggled to find her sound. She's been close at times with Now's (Swinging', Poor Me, Let's Kiss, We Got Something They Don't & Life's About to Get Good, All In All) and QoM's (Inhale/Exhale, Liar, Last Day of Summer, Got It Good, Number One, Not Just A Girl, Wanted Man) with Boots Don't being one of the most Shania sounding songs in forever. Again, this is just my personal opinion.

She would have to basically pull a Madonna (Confessions II). Fans were really skeptical about it until they heard the full album. Madonna's albums released have been quite rocky since Confession's on the dance floor (2005), which would have been released around the same decade as Up (2002)! All in all, Shania would have to really want this to make this happen and I don't know if she cares enough to do this. I think she's at a point where she just wants to make the music she wants to make and I am ok with that. I will support her no matter what.

Enjoy Little Miss Twain, as we don't know when we'll get another album from her. I will also be the first to admit that I judge this album way too quickly, and it has really grown on me. To the point that's it's nearly on repeat. Confessions II was on repeat since it's released and Little Miss Twain took its place. I even have a hard time getting into Ariana's new album because I'm not done with Little Miss Twain.

131 it charted on the Billboard 200 albums chart in the USA and number 20 in Canada. Not good at all. It is what it is.

Tommy, it charted at #6 on the Top Album Sales in the US and #26 on the Top Country Albums in the US. Streaming is obviously the issue, but yes, it did chart! You have to look at her full chart stats on billboard in order to see it.

I agree. There's no way Shania expected the album to do this bad.  She spent way to much time in the UK. Hardly came to Canada and the USA. I love Shania but I am really disappointed in her efforts to even promote this album. It will be several years before we probably even get another album. She hasn't had a hit record or song since Mutt Lange. So without Mutt there wouldn't be a Shania. You can all disagree but it is the truth.

Happier news: her listenership on Spotify jumped 2m-3m. She usually sits around 15m but now at 18m. Enjoy the album guys.

BINGO! What changed in 3 years? Nothing! Plus the Queen Of Me promotion was primarily in the UK yet still debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 chart, No. 2 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and No. 2 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart. Explain that. It's all about the poor production and quality of THIS album. Nobody (except Shania fans) likes the music/sound of this album. As I've always said, good music will sell no matter what the artist's age, etc. 

Yeah, the US has not been great to Shania for a while, also, with Shania's main residence being in Switzerland, I think she prefers to do more promotion in the the UK as it's closer to home. Also, there's not much she can do promo wise in Canada because we don't have big television like in the US and UK. Back in the day, you had CMT Canada and Much Music where you could do massive promo and that no longer exist. She did one morning show and one day time talk show in Canada (that I am aware) and the other one that we have, well the panel hasn't been the greatest towards her either. She might have done our celeb gossip show as well. Canadian's mostly get their promo from late night US shows.

I know Tommy, that you say radio is a big deal, but if an artist doesn't promote their music, it's not going to make it to radio. Let face it, she didn't do much promo or push her singles. Even though Dirty Rosie grew so much on me since the albums release, I personally didn't think it was the best choice but the general comments that I've seen on social media were positive, which I was quite surprised by.

I still say, that most were not aware that she had a new album coming out. That seems to be the biggest issue, which all equates to poor promo outside of the UK. Which, Shania said herself in an interview, she wasn't chasing a hit, that it wasn'T important to her as she has nothing to prove. I'm pretty confident she knows what people are saying about her regarding her looks and her voice so she's releasing music for herself and her fans. And she said in regards to this album, that most songs have existed for years but they didn't belong or fit the sound of Now or QoM, meaning that she also knew this album prob wouldn't resonate with many people do to its sound.

And a last note, it's funny though, as most reviews seems to praise the album and give it a fairly decent score.
