Definitely more Pop! But to be honest, if she doesn't work with better producers it won't matter. And better management. These people suck!

I’d actually love a dance pop album from her. Number one and got it good are my favourites from Queen of me and I think the sound really suits her voice well. But I know I’m definitely in the minority here.

I agree with you!

I agree with the overall sentiment here, but I’d make one distinction: she isn’t choosing bad producers; she’s choosing producers who aren’t right for the current state of her voice or her artistic direction.

Zach Dawes is a highly successful producer who has done great work with Lana Del Rey. However, that style and sound don’t automatically translate well to Shania.

I think she would benefit from working with producers who are a safer, more natural fit. Someone like David Foster comes to mind. He produced “Today Is Your Day,” has decades of experience, and could probably come closer to the polished, layered production associated with Mutt.

Brandi Carlile is another possibility. She’s an accomplished artist in her own right, but her production work on Tanya Tucker’s recent albums also earned critical acclaim and helped revitalize Tanya’s career after it had stalled for years.

I also agree that Shania’s management needs to change. It feels as though everything has gone downhill since Let’s Go! closed at the end of 2022. I don’t know whether she changed management teams or what happened behind the scenes, but that was the visible turning point for me.

I’ve also noticed that Fred is part of her management team, and I get the sense that he may have too much influence over major artistic decisions at this point.

Fred is the problem. End of story. He shouldn’t be involved at all. You can see his influence over the cheap production of shows and lack of promotion. Word on the street is that he doesn’t like to spend money. He has completely degraded her legacy in many ways. Can’t stand him!

Thanks all. I’m hoping she goes back to Pop, too. On another note, I had no idea Fred was involved in her music at all. Where do you find info like this, please?

Where did you heard that about Fred? I did read that he joined the management team but I didn't hear that he is cheap.

I think this is a far stretch regarding Fred. I'd be interested in knowing where you got your information as well. Whether he's on the team or not, I'm sure they still discuss everything anything so, on or off, he'd still be able to influence her, right or wrong. I honestly think Shania is at a stage in her life where she doesn't want to spend all her time promoting.

I can't find the interview but it was in one of the interview that Shania did she say Fred join the management team. Which isn't surprised he always with Shania.

I want a Christmas album!  I feel like that is so long overdue. Country pop sounding. Honestly don't care too much about the sound. I just need a Shania Christmas album!

i 've always dreamed about that promised christmas album, christmas music always sells good and grows every year, but i would also like a covers classic hits album, it could be interesting to hear some classics on her voice, although it would fail for sure on the charts.

Shania Twain @shaniatwain

@zachary_dawes and I were in the studio working on Faded Blue Jeans and Zach goes “Josh Homme of @queensofthestoneage is a fan, I really hear him on this with you, we should get him on it.” and i was like are you crazy?? I would LOVE that!! Once Josh came onto the song it started leaning more into that rock side and I loved it. I was in a rock band in the 80s so that rocker part of me is always there somewhere. Now it’s got this bluegrass-rock energy, Josh is bringing his thing, @tboneburnettofficial is playing that Southwestern-style guitar… it really became a melding of so many of my musical influences in one song. I just love where it ended up, it’s one of my favourites on the album. shaniatwain.lnk.to/littlemisstwain

Shania Twain keeps using the same video that looks to me like she's intoxicated. It’s time to move along to other projects because I'd be shocked if she announces a Little Miss Twain tour. It’s not happening. A tour, yes, but one focusing on the hits. She's not going to do a worldwide small bar tour because there isn't money to be made—it'll be more like a stadium tour.

I do believe she has other musical projects in the works; however, I am hoping she signs with a new record label and a new management team. Since Shania has been married to Fred, I know they both love each other, but him encouraging her music and saying it sounds amazing certainly isn't helping her make the right choices. She needs one producer to make an entire album. I personally believe David Foster might be a perfect fit, and maybe they could co-write together.

Like Tommy said, good music will do well—it has nothing to do with age. She's heard and seen the reviews for her Little Miss Twain album from the fans, and while some were positive, most weren't. That's why she flew to Switzerland so fast: to focus on other projects. Yes, we will get another album, but how fast we get one remains to be seen.

Hard disagree. Love the album, and many fans do. The critical reviews, for the most part, were much better than they were for Queen of Me. The songwriting of this album is much better lyrically and even in terms of how the genres fit her voice.

Also the suggestion that her husband is too agreeable to her musical instincts… YIKES. Borderline sexist to think she needs guidance from her husband or that he’s her biggest influence. She is making the choices she wants to make as an artist and that’s as it should be. If she wanted to chase hits, she would be. No part of this project seems like that was the intention. This was an album designed to be personal, tell a story from a chapter of her life, and explore the music of her childhood and young adulthood. She has more than earned the right to do that kind of project, even if it has a smaller audience.

No reason to believe she thought this was gonna be a blockbuster album with high charting singles and certainly no reason to believe that Fred being a supportive husband is what‘s keeping her from making hits! She doesnt need her husband’s permission or direction to make the music she wants to make— and ultimately her making the music she wants is the whole point of being a musical artist… I get that some fans may not like that but it’s her career and her art, not ours. Luckily for me, I guess, I just happen to love the direction she went in on this record.

Lastly, David Foster hasn’t had a hit in decades and is known for power ballads which Shania clearly doesn’t do (and are def not in fashion).

I love this album too an lot of music critical did to! I have like all three albums thought I just wish Shania had another hit! We need to let go of the fact that her music it is not like it was in the 90’s with Mutt, I want Shania to have a hit without him.

@Parker, I'm calling you out. You're the one that was raving over this album, while I was the complete opposite. I, on the other hand wasn't feeling it at all but it grew on me... A LOT! I'll quote you "This is her best work since up. Everyone has there own options but Northern Town is my favorite however I am not sure as there so so many songs I am crying over. Her best work yes I said it. This is the Shania people will love. Her roots. Raw and real. 10/10". You even mentioned it being very well produced. The minute you notice the album wasn't going to chart well you flipped on it and her hard, while pointing the finger in all directions on who is to blame (Shania, her husband, her label, management, the producers and so on...). If you actually like the album, just enjoy it. It is actually a great album and it's likely her most personal one yet. We also have to stop assuming the worst of the people around her cause you have no idea what is going on behind closed doors (good or bad) and you likely never will.

I made comments previously assuming the album would be great, basing my expectations on some of the teaser clips released before the full drop. Other than the title track (Little Miss Twain) (which I do like), the overall production and music quality just aren't good.

I'm a huge fan, and I don't mind being called out for giving my honest impressions. Mutt Lange was a huge influence on Shania’s legacy, and personally, I don't think there's been a true hit since 2005. I understand some people love it, but after listening to most of the tracks, I think this is her worst album to date. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I'm just giving mine as a longtime fan. You all want me to say it's great? Well, it isn't. I love Shania, but her current production and management team have been terrible.

This will be my last comment on this post, but I'll leave it at this: I'm definitely not the only one here who isn't feeling this album."

You’re right everyone is entitled to his own opinion…but it’s quite suspicious that this opinion totally change after the album became a major chart disappointment. We can all agree that the promotion was poorly done but to blame Fred for the musical direction is pure science fiction. Do you realize that Shania isn’t 30 anymore? It’s impossible for a female pop artist over 50 to have a hit on the billboard hot 100…even Madonna isn’t able to get a hit. Commercial radio focuses on current artists to target younger demographics, whereas Shania is a legacy artist. Shania gets the majority of her income from touring, she’s making new music for passion and for her fans. Last but not least, she has a limited vocal range now and even Mutt wouldn’t be able to change that.

I don't care if you like it or not, that wasn't the point. You're allowed to not like it and I'm not here to police that. I just notice a major shift the minute we found out the album was going to chart really low. It's the complete 360 in attitude that did it for me.

But at the same time, in here career I think if you want to point the finger, you need to point it at Shania. I don't think we can fully put the blame on the management team, because she has the final say, her management team works for her. If Shania says minimal promotion, minimal promotion we get. Same goes for the production, she has the last word. We're never going to get an equal to TWIM, COO, or Up! Any music we get is a blessing at this point. Good or Bad.
