I was quite tired today getting up so I decided to put my Greatest Hits Shania cd. As usual this cd perked me up. I love the fact that her songs are for the most part fun and uplifting. I wonder if her next cd will be the same . I recall reading somewhere, I think in the Redbook magazine article that she said her next cd will be more reflective and told from a female POV. Has anyone else read anything else about her next Cd?
Hey Lulu... Not sure.. I kind of wonder if Mutt and Shania may have the mindset that if it works don't fix it.. Others might say they need to change if they want to do well outside of the Country World. Others might say...Forget the cross over stuff, stick to your roots.. I really don't know but I am sure there are many thoughts on this as to what they should do. Needless to say they will do what they feel they need to do, to be where they want to be with their music... Some people tell me that if she went back to country and really put everything she had into country she would leave the current country music world,as it sits today, in her dust.. I am not sure if all these thoughts are true though.. Do you think they are...Bob
I know what you're saying, Lulu. When I was down after my divorce a few years back Shania's fun lyrics and sassy style helped pick me up and help me along. I do however feel that she needs to change the record so to speak. I just feel she needs to be more personal and not so general in her lyrics next time around. Some of the lyrics on Up! even make me cringe and I love her music to death. Maybe all this wait for the new album could be down to her thinking and soul searching in respect of more meaningful lyrics. I'm sure the musical side is taking time too with Mutt calculating which approach to take with regards to genre and remixing for other markets.
Hi Bob, hi timmins lover. It really is a tough call is'nt it. I wonder if she herself is worried as to what genre she should pursue. Country music right now is the genre selling the most cds as they are more likely to buy the cd rather than download (taken from article on Hits Daily Double). I think if Shania were to ignore country it would be a mistake. I can't see her ignoring it though as she has always referred to country being her roots. I think it would be wonderful if she did a country album somewhere in between TWIM AND COO. She could always release a pop version like she did with COO. I love her tongue in cheek humour when it comes to male female relationships. I would love to have more songs like that as they are fun. Timminslover I totally understand what you mean about some of the lyrics but there sure were some great songs on UP as well. She did say a few times that she has done a lot of soul searching for this cd and it will be more personal. There must be some pressure for her to come up with something great. There is a lot of anticipation for this next disc. I personally believe she won't disappoint us.
