OK, I'm sorry but your comment is really judgemental and rather idiotic. Here is why. Firstly, of all, asking a Celebrity or any one famous to get involved in highly personal matter is ridiculous. Yes, i know it may help get the word out there. But what did you want Shania to do. Can you imagine how uncomfortable she maybe felt? What if the girl was kidnapped and Shania said too much or the wrong thing and that led to her Captor doing something rash? You get where i'm going with this? Now, fortunatley she came back home and hopefully was alright, but it's a really weird thing to do and if I was Shania i would of done the exact same thing. What did yo expect, for her to write a song? Unbelievable..SMH
Because she's not the F#cking authorities and a lot of things can go wrong 2. she doesn't know the family 3. She doesn't know if the girl was kidnapped or what..what if that added exposure and whoever kidnapped her ended up killing her because Shania was on TV and he felt like too many people knew - it's all hypothetical but at that time - no one knew- so leave it to the authorities. If a complete stranger asked me to do the same thing i would feel kind of weird about it wouldn't you?
Yeah i'm sure she will i'm sure no one has ever asked her to listen to any of their recordings and i'm sure she loves it and has the time.....
I assume Shania is headed back to Switzerland this week for the Montreux Jazz Festival, July 1-16. We'll see.
Mirko Manfredi (one of Shania and Fred's friends) is at the Montreux Jazz Festival. I bet Shania, Fred and Eja are too. Mirko is attending the A-ha concert tonight and tagged Eja and Fred in one of his Instagram Stories.
This is from Shania's BMI catalog. Breland had to give Shania and Mutt PRS (performing rights royalties) credit for his song "Natural" since it sounds similar to "MIFLIAW". Shania and Mutt didn't actually write "Natural"'.

I’m not hearing it. Sounds nothing like MIFLAW or does it?!
Carly Pearce Says She Would Love to Collaborate With Shania Twain: ‘Let’s Go!’
Carly Pearce tells 'Billboard' about working with Dolly Parton, her dream collaboration and more.
By Jessica Nicholson | Billboard | August 11, 2022
Reigning ACM female artist of the year Carly Pearce will again host the ACM Honors at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Aug. 24, and recently discussed the event with Billboard‘s Tetris Kelly.
One of the topics of the chat was Shania Twain, who will be honored with the ACM Poet’s Award. Asked whether a collaboration between Pearce and Twain could be in the works, Pearce responded that she is more than ready for a potential collab. “I would die, I would die. I would love it!” she says. “Shania, let’s go!”
Pearce also talked her history working with country music legend Dolly Parton, who surprised Pearce with an invitation in June of last year to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Prior to landing a record deal and earning her breakthrough hit with “Every Little Thing,” Pearce had worked at Dolly Parton’s Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
“She calls me her little Dollywood girl, and I just die every time she says it to me,” Pearce tells Kelly. “She’s just, to me, the epitome of class and a true businesswoman, a true artist. She’s a true fairy godmother.”
During the interview, Pearce also discussed her approach to songwriting following the success of her album 29: Written in Stone, which was nominated earlier this year for an ACM Award for album of the year.
“29 was such a pivotal record and such a pivotal moment for me and my career, but also as a person, so I’m taking some time just to really make sure that this next transition of where I’m at is reflective of actually what’s going in my life,” Pearce says. “So I’m getting some stuff that I’m really excited about.”
As TikTok becomes an increasingly critical component of many artists’ marketing plans, while some musicians have embraced it, while others aren’t so sure of it. Pearce commented on her own approach to utilizing social media.
“I try to approach everything in my career authentically, so I feel like if somebody doesn’t want to do that, don’t do it. But if you can find your own version of it, I certainly steer away from certain TikTok or things that other people are doing just ’cause that doesn’t feel real to me. But slapping my band in the face with a tortilla feels real to me, so I’ll do that,” she said with a laugh.
When asked whether she thinks about where her music lands each week on the Billboard charts, Pearce responded, “Oh, yeah. And if they say they don’t, they lyin’. We all want to win. We wouldn’t be in this business if we weren’t.”

If you’re anything like us, the opening notes to “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” make you feel like you can take on the world! Shania Twain has empowered women and men for decades and never fails to bring that fierceness that we all love. Shania quickly became a household name in the 1990s and has continued her legacy through the years. We recently watched Shania’s new Netflix documentary, Not Just A Girl, and we are even more obsessed with her than ever! Here are some reasons why Shania will always be the Queen of Country Pop!
From a young age, Shania had always wanted to be a singer and was writing and recording demos long before she made it to Nashville.
However, her parents died in a tragic car accident when she was 22 years old. She was left to care for her siblings and soon realized that becoming a singer at a resort was the best way to do so.
She didn’t let this hardship define her and finally signed a record deal a few years later. Unfortunately, this was not the end of Shania’s tragedies. Later in her life, with an established career, Shania found herself in some pretty low lows after releasing her third album, Up!. Shania was unfortunately diagnosed with Lyme disease, which caused changes in her singing voice. During her health crisis, Shania also went through a divorce. Amidst all of these heartaches, Shania picked herself up and never let these challenges hold her back. Those close to her call her a “sledgehammer” because no matter what, Shania will always bounce back stronger and in the best outfit! 💪
Let’s go, girls! One thing that Shania has always included in her songwriting and many other aspects of her career is her message of female empowerment! Being a woman in country music, she found herself in a male-dominated genre. Shania told herself that she had to work three times as hard to succeed, and that’s what she did.
Shania said of her country music breakthrough, “[t]o be relentless was the only way.” Not only has Shania inspired us through her journey but through her music as well. With hits like “Man! I Feel Like A Woman”, “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” and “Any Man of Mine,” Shania has been proving that girls have been in charge since long before Beyoncé confirmed that they run the world. Shania was a feminist songwriter during a time when these ideas weren’t common in mainstream music, AND she did it in a male-dominated genre. 🤠
You can’t talk about Shania without talking about fashion! From leopard print to glitter, Shania is not afraid of a bold fashion look. She can wear short skirts and men’s shirts and make it one of the most iconic music looks ever. Shania’s influences in music and fashion vary across different genres, including Dolly Parton, Elton John, and Pat Benatar. With her love for glitz and glamour as well as a Rock ‘N Roll edge, Shania has proved time and again that she can pull off almost any outfit. She loves the drama of fashion, and we live for it every single time!! 💃
Being the absolute boss she is, Shania has been involved in almost every aspect of her career since the beginning. Shania is someone who knows what she wants and never does anything without a strong vision. Since the 90s, Shania has done creative direction and editing for her music videos.
It doesn’t just stop there; Shania does everything from staging, content ideas, choreography, set design, and musicality for her live shows. For her recent Las Vegas residency, “Let’s Go!”, Shania presented the entire show song by song to her production team while planning the residency. Shania keeps inspiring us and our creativity, and we can’t wait to see what her next project is! 🎨
Shania can genuinely do it all, including making music that breaks norms and transcends across genres. One of the things that shot her to superstardom was how she so effortlessly blended the country and pop genres.
Growing up, Shania listened to everything from Tanya Tucker to Stevie Wonder, and one of her earliest demos is her singing Pat Benatar’s “Hit Me With Your Best Shot.” However, Shania cites Dolly Parton as her primary influence in making both types of music. Shania widened the borders of country music with a sound that can still be heard in the genre today! 🎸
Harry Styles’ also revealed that his main influence in music and fashion is Shania and then shared the stage with her in his incredible Coachella performance in April 2022. Shania will continue to inspire many generations of artists and fans! 💗
How Kelsea Ballerini Cut Loose on Subject to Change
By Marissa R. Moss | Vulture | September 26, 2022
...The jury’s still out on whether Ballerini will get the same kind of penguin clap awarded to male country stars who dare to add a shadow of fiddle to a radio single and are instantly pegged as the genre’s salvation, but Ballerini is on the road to her proper due as one of Nashville’s finest pop-country songwriters (and now also a published poet). The wordsmith that she is, we decided to talk through some lyrics from a few of her favorite classic country songs — and a few from Subject to Change — on how they set the album’s tone and inspired her to both look inward and cut loose.
The Lyric That Set the Unapologetic Tone of Subject to Change
“No inhibitions, make no conditions / Get a little outta line / I ain’t gonna act politically correct / I only wanna have a good time” — “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!,” Shania Twain
Unapologetic is exactly the word I would use. Like, cursing on a record was a choice I have never made before. And it was a choice I made for this record (“When you get married that young, you got a lotta sh*t you gotta get through,” she sings on “Doin’ My Best”), and it was just unapologetic. I feel like Shania has continued to do that in her career in so many ways, whether it’s her fashion choices, the videos she makes, or owning herself as a woman. She’s become a mentor to me and just is so wise. The other day after the ACM Honors, I sat on her balcony till 2 a.m. drinking wine and picking her brain, and I was in awe because she’s been through so much and is so resilient. And even in her resilience she still pushes, and that to me is the making of an icon.
The 100 Greatest Karaoke Songs of All Time: Staff List
The big ballads, perennial party-starters and singular sing-alongs guaranteed to make any karaoke night a classic.
By Billboard Staff | October 5, 2022
1. Shania Twain, "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" (1998)
Type: Crowd-Pleaser
Ideal Circumstances: You don’t need to be in Nashville to perform this country classic. It’s a crossover smash in every sense of the word – country-to-pop crossover, young-to-old crossover and, as Harry Styles proved at Coachella, it isn’t just reserved for the ladies either. (Honestly, it might be even more fun to see a guy tackle it.) So break out your men’s shirts and short skirts and let it all hang out — because, after all, the best thing about doing karaoke is the prerogative to have a little fun.
That One Part: The crowd will know exactly what kind of party they’re in for the minute they hear those first three words: “Let’s go, girls.” – K.A.
The Experts Say: “That’s always a girl-empowerment song that gets the room going. And the best is when a drunk guy sings that song. It’s just the best entertainment.” — Kiki Park
“There’s what I call the “cool-guy copout,” which is where a guy’s too cool, but his ego tells him, “I need to at least sing something.” So, he’ll choose a song ironically, like ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” But the ends sort of justify the means because at the end of that song, everybody’s with him. They’re like, “All right, we get it. You’ve destroyed your ego to a degree, as best as you can, despite doing it in more of a cop-out way.” — Joey Park
“I think it’s a great song. I think that people, in particular girls, love to sing that song. But it doesn’t get enough play, and I’m just like, why? When somebody does sing it, I’m always like, ‘I can’t wait to hear that.'” — KJ Danny
Kelsea Ballerini Gets Real About Being ‘Subject to Change,’ Going From ‘Dibs’ to Divorce and Beyond, and Channeling Shania
By Chris Willman | Variety | October 15, 2022
Kelsea Ballerini walks into the penthouse suite of a West Hollywood hotel bearing a big smile, a full bottle of wine and two glasses, and this is immediately a good sign for an interview. She has a lot to toast, having just released a well-reviewed album, “Subject to Change,” and being about to play a venue she’s dreamed of headlining, L.A.’s Greek Theatre. Ballerini is coming off a previous album cycle in which she had a No. 2 country hit with “Hole in the Bottle” and a No. 1 with “Half of My Hometown,” which picked up a couple of CMA Awards. But the wine may not be for purely celebratory purposes. “Interviews make me nervous,” she admits, settling in and pouring.
That’s probably true more now than when she was promoting her previous three albums. There’s the fact that she recently revealed she was getting divorced, something that didn’t go public until she had already done her first round of press for the new album. No one would mistake “Subject to Change” for a purely confessional album at this stage in her life — not with a first single like the upbeat, crush-celebrating “Heartfirst,” or a girls-night-out anthem like “You’re Drunk, Go Home,” with guests Kelly Clarkson and Carly Pearce. But there’s practically a whole interview’s worth of material just in the album’s autobiographical high point, “Doin’ My Best,” which covers everything from her most regretted tweets to marital counseling to the cessation of her friendship with one-time duet partner Halsey. It’s an interesting time to be, and to talk about being Kelsea Ballerini, sharing a little about fresh personal pain while still putting on the most ebullient show in country and making that feel honest, too.
What was clear in her Greek show was that if, man, you feel like seeing and hearing a woman navigate modern country, Ballerini is a worthy successor to her idol, Shania Twain, in many ways. That’s not just because she can rock a catsuit, among other costume changes, but because of her ability to embody pure pop and pure Nashville and not even have you thinking about all the gradations in-between, at least not till you sit down for a conversation like this.
And while the singer doesn’t devote a lot of time in her show to taking the audience through the tougher stuff she may be going through, Ballerini did keep it real when she got to the sing-along ballad that closes her new album, “What I Have,” changing a key line in the chorus from “I got a roof over my head, I got a warm body in bed” to “I got myself in my own bed.” Dibs on self-ownership, there.
(The following interview has been edited for space and clarity.)
You were just on with “CBS Mornings” with Anthony Mason, who is a champion of country music, and he talked with you very gently about what you’re going through personally…
I adore him. We had a really in-depth conversation about my book when it came out, and I had never met him before. In the book I talked about an eating disorder, and witnessing a school shooting when I was in high school, and my parents divorcing and a ton of stuff. I was very nervous about talking about it, and he handled it with such kid gloves. So I was like, all right, I can do it again.
Well, here is something that Anthony Mason didn’t ask. It has been weighing heavy on my mind, because it seems no one else has asked you this. I feel like it’s the elephant in the room…
Oh, God. I’m nervous.
It has to do with a song on your new album, “I Can’t Help Myself.” It seems like such a deliberate Shania homage. Or am I just imagining that?
[Relieved.] Of course it was! I’ve never done a modulation before. I’ve never done a song in two keys. That’s a very ‘90s country thing. But then, obviously the whole record is inspired by ‘90s music, specifically women in country. And so we wrote in the modulation and we were trying to figure out a way for the pre-chorus to lift into it. And we were like, “Guys, how do we not obviously step on Shania and Mutt and what they did, but pay homage to what they did?” So we took every page out of their book. And Shania’s my queen. Everyone knows it. My God, what an incredible artist. And the more I get to know her, the more I’m like, “Of course you’re Shania Twain. You couldn’t be cooler.”
You did a salute to her on the “ACM Honors” show not too long ago, including wearing her dress from one of her seminal videos.
When they asked me to honor her, I was like, “How do we do this bigger?” And so the dress happened, but then also, I was like, “If I’m gonna do ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman,’ I want her Vegas dancers shirtless on the stage of the Ryman. That’s what she did for country — she pushed every boundary, and that needs to be recognized. Because people still are like [about Ballerini’s performance] “Oh my God, they didn’t have shirts on.” I’m like, “Yeah, and they didn’t in the ‘90s either. Calm down!”
You’ve said you and Shania had a long, personal, late-night talk after that filming.
Yeah, I’ve known her for a couple years now, and we’ve had a really beautiful mentor -mentee relationship. This conversation was before the news came out about what I’m going through [with the divorce], but I was experiencing it and I needed advice. So we had a big celebration dinner with both of our teams and gave cheers for her award, and then I sat on her hotel room balcony for a couple of hours and she just was really honest and open and warm and lovely. Right now, I have fewer artist friendships than I’ve ever had, but the ones that I do have are actual genuine friendships. I put her in that category.
And Shania’s advice to you was not “Take 15 years off, like I did, kid”?
No, it wasn’t. Her advice was, “You owe people music, and that’s it.”
Love is like a dyin' ember And only memories remain And through the ages, I'll remember Blue eyes crying in the rain
There's nothing nicer than talking about love.

‘SNL’ Cold Open Addresses the Classified Documents Search, Tyre Nichols’ Death
Michael B. Jordan hosted the episode, with Lil Baby as the musical guest.
By Christy Pina | The Hollywood Reporter | January 28, 2023
Saturday Night Live‘s cold open introduced Mikey Day’s Attorney General Merrick Garland in a comic book-esque way.
“He means business. First, he hunted down the Jan. 6 insurrectionists and made them pay,” the intro began. “Now, he’s searching for classified documents, and he’s coming for everyone: Democrat, Republican or whatever Trump is now. You don’t want to be in his crosshairs: Attorney General Merrick Garland.”
The five-minute segment during the Jan. 28 episode featured appearances from seemingly fictional FBI agents played by Kenan Thompson, Ego Nwodim and Bowen Yang, who were spearheading the classified documents search in Mike Pence, Kamala Harris and Barack Obama’s homes.
Thompson’s special agent Conrad Nance kicked off the findings by saying he visited Pence’s Indiana home, and the former vice president “needed a friend.”
“When he opened the door, he said, ‘You came,’ with a big smile, and he offered to make us pancakes,” he said. “Our search turned up no additional classified documents. However, in an envelope marked ‘tax stuff,’ we discovered photographs of the country/pop singer, Shania Twain, cut out from several magazines.”
Thompson continued by saying that when he tried to leave, Pence asked him how he could leave when he’s “it” and tagged him on the shoulder before running away, which the SNLcastmember insisted he did not play with him. “I will say, though, that if you know Mr. Pence, if you’re friends with him, check on your people,” he concluded. “That’s all.”
@KelseaBallerini always has the best tea, but we’re going to spill it this time. 👀 We’ve got a special #CMTAwards host announcement coming tomorrow! @CBS
***Could Shania be co-hosting the CMT Awards this year with Kelsea? The awards are Sunday, April 2 in Austin, Texas. In 2021, Kelsea co-hosted with Kane Brown. Last year she co-hosted with Anthony Mackie. So it will probably be another guy.

"I feel like I say this every time, but I’m going to have to go with Shania Twain again," Kane tells the press when asked about the ladies who have influenced him.
"My mom was a huge fan of hers, so I’ve grown up listening to all her music and I actually met her one time and I talked about doing a song with her," he recalls. "So, it’d be cool if we got to do it. But yeah, she influenced me the most as a female."
Of course, Kane's also influenced by the women in his family, particularly his "Thank God" duet partner and wife Katelyn Brown and their daughter, Kingsley.
"Another woman that’s had a huge impact on my life, well there’s two, my wife Katelyn and my beautiful little baby girl, Kingsley," Kane says.
Kane is currently touring the country with Dustin Lynch, Gabby Barrett and LoCash on his Drunk or Dreaming Tour. His latest album is 2022's Different Man, which features the number one hits "Thank God," "Like I Love Country Music" and "One Mississippi," as well as his next single, "Bury Me in Georgia."
'Lusty' Shania Twain Hungry For Husband Ahead Of Massive Tour: Frédéric Thiébaud 'Struggling' To Keep Up
By Aaron Johnson | Radar Online | April 19, 2023
Country cougar Shania Twain is in her prime at 57 and her appetite for romance has never been higher, RadarOnline.com has learned from sources who say her henpecked hubby, Frédéric Thiébaud, is struggling to keep up at 53.
"She's celebrating her career resurgence and body overhaul and looks and feels fantastic like she could go on forever — and the same can be said for her private life behind closed doors," snitched an insider, who claimed Shania is turning on the charm for her man.
"She's reserving special one-on-one time with the hubby — but as they get older it's getting harder for Frédéric to keep up."
Shania's body and mind have never been better. The That Don't Impress Me Much songbird cut out the booze and gave up all of her favorite snack food ahead of her massive 70-date Queen of Me concert tour's kickoff later this month — and sources dished the "only vice" she allows herself to indulge is in lust.
"She jokes that a wild night with him is about the only fun she can have these days," spilled one spy.
Shania married the Swiss-born businessman in 2011 after bonding when her marriage to producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange exploded in 2008 over his affair with her best friend, Marie Anne Thiébaud — who was Frédéric's wife!
Shania Twain's son Eja is all grown up as he makes first appearance in years in new photo
The "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" singer shares one son with ex-husband Mutt Lange
30 May 2023, 21:05 BST
Beatriz Colon Online News Writer New York
Though Shania Twain has always kept her son, Eja, out of the spotlight, and now that he is grown up, he prefers to keep it that way, the singer made a worthwhile exception with her latest social media post.
The star shares one son, Eja D'Angelo Lange, 21, with her ex-husband, Robert "Mutt" Lange. Shania and the music producer married in 1993, and welcomed their son in 2001. They divorced nine years later in 2010.
Though not much is known of Eja, and he has made little to no public appearances as an adult, he left fans in awe when he resurfaced in a star-studded photo with his mom.
Shania took to Instagram Tuesday with a photo featuring the star-studded attendees of her latest Queen of Me Tour – her first in six years – after performing at Los Angeles' classic Hollywood Bowl.
While many fans were impressed to see the "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" hitmaker posing along major A-listers such as Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, John Travolta, his daughter with Kelly Preston, Ella Bleu, plus Shania's husband Frédéric Thiebaud, it was the rare appearance from Eja that really took fans by surprise.
In the photo, the star-studded group are in Shania's dressing room, and while she is standing next to John holding up her pet pomeranian, her son is next to her, and looks already much taller than his mom, wearing black cargo pants, a black zip-up hoodie over a white t-shirt, plus a trucker hat over his long, red-blonde hair.
"Nothing better than love & support from friends at the @hollywoodbowl," Shania wrote next to a string of red heart emojis.
Her fans were quick to note the rare sighting of Eja, and wrote in the comments section under the post: "Shania, this is the first time I've ever seen your son!! He's so handsome and looks so much like you, his dear mother," and: "That's some very good company there!" as well as: "Eja has his mother's smile. So nice," plus another fan wrote: "How many famous people in one pic! Very cool! All beautiful people."
Like both his mother and father, Eja is pursuing a career in the music industry. He most recently collaborated on the song "Number One" from Shania's latest album, and is credited as a songwriter on the pop number.
It's a step in the direction of his father's footsteps, who is a collaborator on some of his ex-wife's biggest hits, such as the iconic "Man! I Feel Like a Woman," plus "That Don't Impress Me Much," and "Any Man of Mine."
Aside from Eja, Shania also has a stepdaughter, Johanna, who is the same age as Eja. She is the daughter of the "Giddy Up" singer's now husband, Frédéric. The couple married in 2011, after both of their former partner's had an affair with each other, and they subsequently split from them.

Liza Anne Announces New LP with the Fairly Self-Explanatory Single “Shania Twain Is Making Me Cry”
The songwriter’s third studio album Utopian will arrive November 3 via Antifragile Music.
By Mike LeSuer | FLOOD Magazine | September 7, 2023
After releasing consecutive albums titled Fine But Dying and Bad Vacation, one can expect to take the name of Liza Anne’s third record, Utopian, as being at least a bit ironic. But while the record openly deals in trauma and loss, the early singles not only hint at its narrative speaking to such difficult times in the past tense, but the music itself suggesting joy—whether through the new-wavey spaciousness of “Sentimental” or the arty tones of “Rainbow Sweater.”
Along with announcing that third LP today, Liza Anne is also sharing their third single, “Shania Twain Is Making Me Cry,” which replicates its predecessors’ karaoke charm and ’80s callbacks while adding a slight pop-country twang implied by its title’s namesake. Meanwhile, the lyrics address heartbreak from the perspective of someone who’s moved on and can see the humor in their temporary state of vulnerability—the type of vulnerability that makes every pop song feel custom written for the specific emotional scenario you’re attempting to maneuver.
“I wanted to lean into the theater and camp-ness of the feeling that came from that almost caricatured processing of grief,” the songwriter shares. “That unified sadness we all recognize in ourselves when our lives are thrown up and we wonder where everything is going to land. We’re looking for a mirror back of our own experience all of the time and when you’re going through the loneliness of a break up everything feels like a sign.”
Check out the Paloma Gil–directed video for the new track below—which sees Liza Anne dressed the part of the Shania fan—and expect Utopian out November 3 via Antifragile Music.

Drake is in an introspective mood on the gospel-tinged surprise track “8AM in Charlotte,” which the 6 God dropped early Thursday morning (Oct. 5). The Conductor Williams-produced track rides on a laconic beat and finds Drizzy backed by a soulful choir as he flexes about his nine-figure lifestyle while dropping an awards show-worthy list of A-list names.
The video for the track co-stars the rapper’s five-year-old son, Adonis, who opens the five-minute visual by showing off a cute drawing he made for his pops. “Tell me about your beautiful piece of artwork that you sold me,” Drake says to his son, who goes on to describe a tale of a goat running away from monsters amid images of flaming flowers, race cars and jail stairs.
“Daddy’s name is next to the goat, does that mean that he’s the GOAT?” the MC wonders. “Yes, so it’s Daddy GOAT,” Adonis confirms. Clearly already a chip off the old block, when Drake asks Adonis how much he earned for his beautiful drawing, the kindergarten controller laughs and says, “Oh please.”
Then dad gets to business, rapping, “Preachin’ to the dogs about wantin’ more for themselves/ It’s weighin’ heavy on my moral scale/ Knowin’ they gon’ sell another citizen ‘cane, they think they Orson Welles,” in the bare-bones visual in which Drizzy sports colorful hair curlers, baggy black vinyl pants and a jacket with a series of colorful V’s on it. In one shot, Drake sits surrounded by a group of men, and Adonis, all wearing black shirts that read “Hate Survivor.”
The avalanche of bold-faced names continues, with a shout-out to a fellow GOAT (“the restaurant clears out faint echoes of Lauryn Hill”), a spooky szn-appropriate ref (“I say we gotta talk about us, I feel like Jordan Peele”), as well as stops at 21 Savage (“got a green card straight out of the consulate”) and Michael Jackson (“I feel like Mike switched out the glove for the pen”).
Plus, he gets political with a clever geography bar, rapping, “Where I go, you go, brothers, we’re Yugoslavian/ Formal is a dress code, dawg, so many checks owed/ I feel Czechoslovakian.”
The second verse drops references to a country icon ("Shania Twain, notepad, I’m making it line dance"), a megachurch preacher (“I swear I’m like a young T.D. Jakes to my menaces/ Long kiss goodnight, PDA for my nemesis”), anti-vax presidental candidate RFK jr. (“Conspiracy theories start floatin’ around like the Kennedy guy”) and the late DJ Screw (“R.I.P. to the DJ from Houston, we loose screws”).
The Adonis cameo is fitting, since Drake revealed last month that his son’s line-drawing of a pooch would be the cover art for his upcoming For All the Dogs album, which is due out on Friday (Oct. 6) and is expected to also include his SZA collab, “Slime You Out.”
It's been quite a year. From "Barbenheimer" to the Eras Tour, our favorite celebs have given us plenty to obsess over. They've also gifted us some truly baffling fashion choices. In a year chockfull of award show red carpets and paparazzi walks, it's not easy to narrow down the stars' biggest style mistakes to the worst of the worst. Still, there were a few 2023 ensembles that were so bad that we just can't stop thinking about them and, unfortunately, we have a feeling that they'll still be on our minds well into 2024.
From red carpet risks that didn't pay off to utterly mystifying street style, even our favorite stars weren't immune to being bitten by the bad fashion bug. We saw Harry Styles trying to make clown-core happen and Kylie Jenner carrying around a life-sized lion head. One fashion icon was out there enough to make our list twice, while a husband and wife duo officially earned the title of Worst Dressed Couple of 2023. Here's our list of this year's worst-dressed stars and the iconic fashion moments that earned them the dubious title.
Shania Twain's clown couture
To quote the singer herself, Shania Twain's look at this year's Grammy Awards "[didn't] impress [us] much." In fact, we were downright perplexed by it. Bold choices on the red carpet often pay off. Yet, the pairing of this printed suit, massive matching hat, and fire engine red wig has stuck in our minds for all the wrong reasons. It's difficult to imagine why Twain chose this look in the first place, but we have a feeling she found herself saying "Man! I feel like a court jester!"
In the show “Danse avec les stars” (Dancing with the Stars) in France on TF1 on February 23, they wanted to do a tango to “Man! I feel like a woman!”. They got the worst rating, a disaster apparently.
