Spending the day @sound_stage_studios being interviewed for the upcoming #shaniatwain documentary. I played guitar on four of Shaniaâs albums and Iâm talking about that and performing a lot of the signature guitar parts I created for all those songs. Pictured with me is my good buddy for over 30 yrs Paul Leim who played drums on all those albums.
***In a comment reply, Brent goes on to say "All I know is what my part in the documentary is. The production company is based in London. it's still early in the filming process for further details."

A new Shania documentary is coming to Netflix! It's called "Shania Twain: Not Just A Girl". This may or may not be the documentary that has been in production for a couple years.

Joss Crowley is the director. So we can now confirm this is the documentary that has been in production for the past couple years.
The article below linked my message board as one of its sources. According to this article, the documentary will be released in July OR August. It looks like it could be part of the promotion for Come On Over: Diamond Edition. So COO might be released before Shania's new album. We'll see.
New Shania Twain Documentary âNot Just A Girlâ Headed to Netflix
The new documentary is headed to Netflix in select regions.
By Kasey Moore | What's On Netflix | June 13, 2022
Another music documentary is headed to Netflix in the form of Shania Twain: Not Just a Girl which is due to arrive on Netflix in select regions in the coming months.Â
Known for hits like Man! I Feel Like A Woman, From This Moment On and Youâre Still The One, the Canadian musician has had an illustrious career in the music business having sold over 100 million records to date and gaining the label of âQueen of Country Popâ.
Now her career will be documented in a new documentary thatâs headed to Netflix including the United States.
Netflix Canada and Australia are also set to receive the documentary according to the âWorth the waitâ carousel within Netflix. Check that section within your Netflix app to see if youâre due to receive Shania Twain: Not Just a Girl on your Netflix in the near future.
Information on the documentary is very scarce with an IMDb page for the doc not even being available. Thereâs a couple of threads on Shania Twain forums thatâs been tracking the documentary since 2020.
One caught the fact that Brent Mason was interviewed for the doc back in April 2021 with an Instagram post saying:
âSpending the day @sound_stage_studios being interviewed for the upcoming #shaniatwain documentary. I played guitar on four of Shaniaâs albums and Iâm talking about that and performing a lot of the signature guitar parts I created for all those songs. Pictured with me is my good buddy for over 30 yrs Paul Leim who played drums on all those albums.â
Hereâs the official description listed on Netflix for the upcoming doc:
âFrom Nashville newcomer to international icon, singer Shania Twain transcends genres across borders amid triumphs and setbacks in this documentary.â
The doc comes from producer/director Joss Crowley who has previously made documentaries for other high-profile musicians including most recently Mark Ronson and Ritchie Blackmore. Heâs also worked on titles including Lenny Kravitz, Elvis Costello, Deep Purple, and Pink Floyd.
This documentary comes as Shania Twain is making headlines as her Las Vegas residency makes its big return. HelloMagazine reports that the show is one of the most popular shows in the city right now adding âshe was ready to give it her all for the final stretch of her second concert series.
No release date yet for the new documentary is available on the Netflix hub page but given itâs now showing within the Worth the Wait section, weâd predict that itâll be available on Netflix at some point in either July or August 2022.
Weâll keep you posted on when Shania Twain: Not Just a Girl is headed to Netflix as soon as we have it.
Fans in Canada and The Netherlands are reporting the documentary has been removed from the "Worth The Wait" section. I can't find it here in the U.S. anymore either. Something must be up.

So apparently the "Worth The Wait" section can only show so much. When new shows, movies, etc that now have a release date are added to the section, it pushes the older stuff without a release date out.

All The Movies & TV Shows Coming to Netflix in July 2022
Netflix just announced its list of movies and TV shows coming in July 2022.
By Jake Vyper |Â EpicStream | June 22, 2022
July is almost here, and the arrival of a new month always means that there are more new original films and TV shows coming to Netflix. There's a bunch of exciting titles arriving on the streaming service in the next few weeks, and on Wednesday, Netflix released the full list of movies and TV shows coming in July 2022.
According to a member on Pulse Music Board, Shania is releasing a compilation album September 2nd called 'Not Just a Girl: The Highlights' with "Not Just a Girl" being a new song and it will be the only new song on the project. Take that with a grain of salt but I hope it's true.
I wonder if Shania will do one or two TV show interviews towards the end of July to promote the documentary.
I just checked my TV's on-screen program guide which gives listings for the next 2 weeks. Shania is not currently scheduled for any TV show appearances.

Shania Twain's Rise to Fame Gets Documentary Treatment in Netflix's Not Just a Girl Trailer
Not Just a Girl will hit the streaming service on July 26
By Rachel DeSantis | PEOPLE | July 20, 2022
Shania Twain's inspirational rise to success is coming soon to a TV near you!
The first trailer for the upcoming Netflix documentary Not Just a Girl dropped on Wednesday, and features music video clips, concert and archival footage and new interviews all centered around Twain's legendary country music career.
"Taking the risks to do things your way can be scary," Twain, 56, says in a voiceover as she drives through a lush mountain landscape. "You gotta be brave."
Not Just a Girl, named after a new song of the same name, follows the star's beginnings growing up poor in Timmins, Ontario, and follows her as she signs to a label in Nashville and meets her future producer and husband Robert "Mutt" Lange.
"She was the first person to break that door open and go across the music genres. She was that trailblazer," says Richie, while Peck says that she "shifted culture."
Not Just a Girl will begin streaming on July 26, the same day Twain is set to digitally release a compilation album called Not Just a Girl (The Highlights).
"I'm finishing my album. It's a really great feeling," Twain says in the trailer. "And I think the fans will enjoy it."
While performing with Twain, Styles addressed the crowd before him, saying, "Now I have to tell you, in the car with my mother as a child, this lady taught me to sing."
"She also taught me that men are trash," he continued with a laugh, before adding, "but to you, for the memories you gave me with my mother, I will be forever grateful."
Twain, meanwhile, noted: "I'm [at a] loss for words, I'm a bit starstruck ... when I was writing this song, you were just a kid, so it's kind of a dream and very surreal to be sitting right here now, singing this song with you."

Did anyone notice the photo of Shania & Mutt featured in the new trailer for the Netflix doc? I have never seen it before. Bryan Adams also met Shania that same day. It âlooks likeâ the sunglasses may have been photoshopped on Mutt.
That picture is one of the very first things I noticed đ I have a picture of Mutt and Bryan from that day and he was wearing the same sunglasses in that picture, too.

Global Icon Shania Twainâs Not Just A Girl, a brand new, career-spanning documentary produced by Mercury Studios and directed by Joss Crowley, will be available Tuesday, July 26 on Netflix. Since the â90s, Shania has led the way as a genre-defying, iconic, and empowered female, who has smashed records, amassed an enormous international fanbase, and generated a catalog of some of the biggest hits that have stood the test of time. Not Just A Girl takes viewers from her humble beginnings in Timmins, Ontario, where she was raised poor and inspired by the story of Dolly Parton, through her initial record label signing in Nashville, and onto her career-defining moment meeting her future husband and rock producer Mutt Lange ahead of writing, recording and releasing her breakthrough album The Woman In Me. Produced by Mercury Studios, the documentary features studio session footage from throughout her career and brand new interviews with Shania at home. The documentary is a definitive look at the making of one of the worldâs most adored superstars and fashion-forward female pioneers in pop, country, and rock. The doc brings us right up to the present day and the recording of Shaniaâs forthcoming sixth record.
Not Just A Girl is the story of a woman who wanted to make her own way, completely independent of anyone else; the story of an artist who took enormous risks. Among the guest voices in Not Just A Girl are Lionel Richie, Diplo, Avril Lavigne, and Orville Peck. âShe was a trailblazer,â says Lionel Richie. Orville Peck: âShe paved the way for musicians everywhere.â The film traces her emergence as a crossover artist, defying the stereotypes of what it took to be a country star, and takes viewers through her vision during Come On Over to become a global pop phenomenon. Shania took universal ideas of confidence, femininity, and self-discovery and made them relatable. âShania Twain brought a rebellious spirit to the genre that hadnât existed for a couple of decades,â says music journalist Eve Barlow. It also touches on Shaniaâs impact on the LGBTQ+ community and artists across every genre today. âShe reached through the stereo and made me feel safe when I was a young kid,â says Orville Peck. Watch the trailer.
In addition to the documentary, Shania will release a compilation album entitled Not Just A Girl (The Highlights) via Mercury Nashville/UMe, which includes a new bonus title track, alongside some of her biggest hits in order of appearance in the documentary. Not Just A Girl (The Highlights) will also be available digitally on July 26, with physical becoming available on September 2.

Shania will perform at this yearâs Boots and Hearts festival (August 4-7) on the closing night of the festival with fellow Canadian female powerhouses Lindsay Ell and Robyn Ottolini. âAs a Canadian team focused on representing Canada in the global festival market, weâre honored to host a Canadian country superstar on Canadian soil to celebrate everything sheâs done for our genre,â said Brooke Dunford, Director of Booking and Brand Strategy, Republic Live. âFor many of our fans and fellow artists, Shania Twain has had a big impact on what we know and love about country music⊠Weâre extremely proud of all the female artists in our line-up, and weâre excited to showcase their talents alongside the Queen of Country. Thereâs no doubt the theme for 2022 is LETâS GO GIRLS!â  For more information & tickets for the Toronto-based festival, please visit www.bootsandhearts.com.

Also in the news, Shania will receive the ACM Poetâs Award, which is given to a Country Music songwriter for outstanding and longstanding musical and/or lyrical contributions throughout their career, with special consideration given to a song or songsâ impact on the culture of Country Music, August 24th in Nashville.

It's the most brilliant idea for Shania to release one new song and talk about her past big albums and talk about the songs she thinks are her best. I'm Holding On to Love to Save my life is my Favorite and could potentially sell a bit. This documentary was her and I guarantee her record labels idea to get her well know. Netflix is huge, Then to release just one song and brand New at that when the Documentary airs is the most Brilliant idea her record label has done in years in Fact Shania is releasing this Netflix Greatest Hits album pretty fast. Now let me keep talking She's been in the studio and said in a clip that fans are gonna be pretty happy with this new album. She isn't talking about the Greatest hits because technically it isn't. It's the songs that mean the most. That new song I heard on Netflix sounds absolutely nothing like Now and is gonna be catchy and upbeat, Perhaps Radio will embrace it or perhaps it will not. Doesn't mean the song can't be good. She's spent a few years and I have heard two songs over the last year well clips and the second one blew my mind. I am telling you She's about to show the word where she is at now and what she went through. Remember folks alot of people don't know much about her only us fans and well maybe others. She's even got a memember from her record commenting on how well she's done with album sales. Now was just an album about heart break and and wasn't her best. This New album will come later this year. She wouldn't say fans will be happy with this album and by that I mean the greatest hits. She's been really hard in the studio and promised it would be a good album. I 100% believe this is the most brilliant idea ever to launch a Brand new song, I also don't believe it will be on the next album. She said finished in the studio a few months ago. That album is coming. So people be patient and relax. She's also getting a huge honor later this August. Shania Twain is showing the world what she went through to get to where she is. The cheating, the losing of her voice, losing her parents and I see many studio clips. She wasn't in the studio re recording the greatest hits, She has a new album and from the clip I hear it's catchy. The album won't be like now and it won't be necessary country. It will be a mixture. People want upbeat stuff and if you all hang on to your hats She's gonna come back better than ever. Stop thinking her label dropped her, She's been with them for decades, Now wasn't her best and that's why she gave up promoting it. I have never been this excited for Shania in years, A new single being released the same day as Netflix launches is brilliant. I'm telling you guy's she controls her record label now not them her. She's what made that record label the way it is. She is worth a fortune and this idea I will keep repeating is brilliant. It's to get her back in the spot light. Still waiting on Tommy's option. It's A HUGE platform to start with. If they scrapped this album she wouldn't release this one. Give her a chance, I am Happy with just 1 single and a documentary. Besides there hasn't been a new documentary done in a very long time.

Perhaps Radio will embrace it or perhaps it will not. Doesn't mean the song can't be good.
That's going to be an uphill battle for her. Pop radio is saturated with RnB and Dance and Country radio is saturated with men. Although, I'm not sure she should care that much about radio any more when streaming numbers are more important. Getting the new song onto some Spotify playlists will do more good than getting played on the radio. So I also agree that this is a great strategy for promoting new music. The physical release of the highlights album being delayed two months after its digital release pretty much adds weight to the theory that her team is focused on getting the new song more streams.Â

Some people are apparently refusing to watch Not Just a Girl because Eve Barlow is a commentator in it because they think she was unfair to Johnny Depp during his trial.
The documentary is already out in some countries like The Philippines. One fan posted:
Okay! Okay! Okay... The best part was probably the clips of Shania recording new songs on the last part of the documentary. Also a few footages of behind the scenes of her early works which is awesome. Thank you Shania cant wait for the new album!
