After falling off last week's Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, "Waking Up Dreaming" re-enters this weeks chart at No. 15 in its twelfth overall week on the chart.
I can listen to it in full on YouTube! Nice. I like the start with a little tribal percussion. it's a bit african or american indian. Can't wait for video!

I'm glad someone else picked up on the african vibes. While listening to the full song, the first second or so of the song, I feel would go perfect for a song from a new Disney's The Lion King movie soundtrack or something. But I'm loving this album more and more by each song being released. I for one am impressed very much from what we've heard so far. Can't wait for the full album. Just a little less than a month from now guys. We're sooooooo close! 😎🙌💞🎧🎶
I really, really like the song. Lyrically speaking it's not her best one, the chorus is pretty nonsense and there isn't a real "story" behind the song, like she's used to do, but I like to have pretty little songs to sing along with.
Commercially they made a smart move to release this one, it gets stuck in your head and doesn't leave even if you want to.
The music video is another story, you can see her for about 15 seconds tops, there is nothing iconic or memorable in there.
I love the fast-paced verses and I love the personality in the song. The transitions from the verses to the choruses are a little weird but overall I find it quite enjoyable.
I actually like it! It's a cutesy uptempo bop, although a bit too short in my opinion. I feel like it might gain some traction on social media and become somewhat viral - if they promote it right that is.
Love the artwork, simple but stunning.
The music video was a bit disappointing though, I wanted to see more of Shania as a mechanic... It is labeled as a 'Dance Video', so fingers crossed that another one will be coming out.
Queen Of Me comes out in one month (!) and Giddy Up! is another taster of what you can expect. This song represents the 'night on the town Shania' whose prerogative is to have a little fun and go totally crazy!! Go listen now!! 🤠shaniatwain.lnk.to/giddyup
Shania Twain Gets the Dance Floor Going With New Single ‘Giddy Up!’
Queen of Me, the country star's first album in six years, arrives on Feb. 3
By Daniel Kreps | Rolling Stone | January 5, 2023
A month before the release of Shania Twain’s new album Queen of Me, the country star puts a ‘pep’ in her fans’ step with her latest single, “Giddy Up!”
“The saying ‘Let’s Go Girls!’ is such a wonderfully uplifting sentiment now, but it’s just something I said during the recording in the studio, and I guess that’s the same for ‘Giddy Up!’,” Twain said in a statement, alluding to her hit “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”
“These lines come to me when I’m thinking about how to put a little ‘pep in my step.’ I want people to feel good when they hear the new album. I want to set a celebratory tone and ‘Giddy up!’ is a way to call to the audience and say ‘let’s get ready for some fun!'”
Twain also shared the “official dance video” for the single, featuring people from all walks of life busting a move in diners, laundromats, and honky tonks when “Giddy Up!” comes on.
Queen of Me, out Feb. 3 and available to preorder now, boasts the previously released singles “Waking Up Dreaming” and “Last Day of Summer.” The LP also features the track “The Hardest Stone,” produced by Twenty One Pilots’ Tyler Joseph.
“This new record is fun and celebrative, really on the other side of Now,” Twain told Rina Sawayama in a Rolling Stone Musicians on Musicians interview. “I’m happy in my own skin. I’m celebrating that feeling, less apologetic for who I am and what I’ve become. This is me, and I like myself.”
She added, “A lot of it was written during the pandemic. There’s nothing better for me than to not have enough to do, because the first thing I do is pick up my guitar and start songwriting. Now I’ve got four albums’ worth. I’m not kidding.”
In support of the new album, Twain will embark on a massive North American tour that kicks off April 28 in Spokane, Washington.
The song is number 1 in the top 100 on iTunes all genre charts. Not just country. Slowly climbing in Canada. I said this song would potentially do better then Waking up dreaming. The music video makes more sense instead of focusing on herself she made it a dance video, Hopefully country radio picks it up. Queen of me might just sell quite well once people hear the entire album. Upbeat and these are concert songs. Hopefully she keeps the interviews going strong. Come on Adult Contemporary and Country radio pick this song up and play the hell out of it

I don’t think country radio will play it, it’s even more pop than WUD, but it doesn’t matter, the song is doing well for now. Long term, we will need to see. I expect it to fall off number 1 tomorrow if there is another big artist releasing new music.
GRAMMY® Award-Winning Icon Shania Twain Hits with ‘Giddy Up!’
By Jerry Doby | The Hype Magazine | January 5, 2023
GRAMMY® winner and “Music Icon” winner at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards, Shania Twain just set the bar today for new party songs with her fresh single Giddy UP!, the lead single for her soon-to-be-released album “Queen of Me”. This joint is high energy, danceable, has fun lyrics, and is a dancefloor filler…not to mention the track is absolute fire.
Highly celebrated for her pitch control and range, Shania delivers a full-bodied vocal performance on “Giddy Up!”, with a showcase of nuanced timbre and intonation that fully completed the production. If you don’t care about the details and just want to get the party started or keep it going, “Giddy Up!” is going to be a hot one.
The single is accompanied by a video that totally “gets” the song and puts us in places we might not expect to find a party but could be cool to start one…Now as for the dance, I’ll say this, you will NOT be out of shape if you add even just one round to your daily workout; the choreography is doable even for “two left footers”, and invites personalization making it even more fun.
In a statement regarding the single, Shania says, “The saying “Let’s Go Girls!” is such a wonderfully uplifting sentiment now, but it’s just something I said during the recording in the studio and I guess that’s the same for “Giddy Up!”. These lines come to me when I’m thinking about how to put a little “pep in my step.” I want people to feel good when they hear the new album. I want to set a celebratory tone and “Giddy Up!” is a way to call to the audience and say “let’s get ready for some fun!” Shania also discussed this topic, in an earlier interview published on The Hype Magazine portal by Allison Kugel.
Shania’s upcoming album “Queen of Me” is set for release on February 3rd and the superstar has announced a supporting tour for the project kicking off this spring.

The Hardest Stone isn't a duet. Tyler Joseph produced the song.

Giddy Up! is record of the week on BBC radio 2 and is added straightaway to the A-list of the radio station. It's her first song to ever achieve this. This sounds very very promising. BBC radio 2 is the most popular radio station in the UK with approximately 14.5 million listeners every week.
BBC radio playlists are compiled every week by UK music professional and BBC radio djs. Making the A-list means the song will be played multiple times a day.
Back in November I had the pleasure of working on the set of 'Giddy Up!' by the one and only Shania Twain! I Co-wrote this video alongside my best friend Marmo, who then brought me on as Assistant Director! As an added bonus I got to cameo in the grocery store. To say that this was an amazing opportunity is an understatement, working with this group of talent ranks in my top 5 life experiences to date. Many thanks to everyone who was involved, we created something incredible!!
A little side note on the streams. Giddy Up! was released on a Thursday and WUD on a Friday. Every Friday new songs get added to new music Playlists. So streams should be up tomorrow 👍
Meh. I will never like new Shania. As an longtime Shania fan I will always love her old stuff and sound and look but this new look and sound is so bad. Giddy up is the worst song! She is almost 60 years old can’t she write a song that has actual depth and meaning. She ain’t 30 years old anymore. The song has no depth. So silly for an almost 60 year old woman. And her clothes are so awful the last 6-7 years. She comes across looking so garish and gaudy and trying too hard to look young. Meh. I know she is having a hard time with getting old and that is why she dressed ridiculous and also her voice is now weak and damaged and she will never sound the same.
I do find it a little weird Shania is coming out with all these boppy songs and outfits at her age. I know she said it helped her deal with Covid or whatever. But still.
When I first saw she was releasing the Official Dance Video for "Giddy Up!", I said Oh My God, she can't dance (we all know that). How is this going to work??? That's why she basically isn't in the video. She made the right call. Plus the whole TikTok marketing thing is a little weird too.

But she did all that with Now and people complained it was a boring album and her worst. Her sound was more mature, there was more dept to her lyrics and people complained. Now she doing the opposite and some people still complain. Luckily I’ve seen more of “Shania is back” all over the web! I’ve been a fan since the very beginning and I’m very happy to get a sense of the old Shania. And why does getting old mean having to tame down? Look at JLo she over 50, no one says anything, Madonna is in her 60’s and is very provocative and people accept it. you have Cher and Dolly and people don’t blink an eye. Getting old is not a life sentence of having To act your age (whatever that means). If at 58 Shania is finally comfortable in her own skin to dress the way she is and sing the songs she wants to sing, POWER to her! She sounds and looks great and feeling herself. Rock on Shania. As for you two, the problem is you, not her. You guys need to work out your view on woman. Life isn’t over after 50. When you stop having fun, that’s when you start going down hill and I hope at her age, I have at Least half her confidence. Also, if she were a man, you wouldn’t be saying any of this.
I for one am not the biggest fan of Giddy Up! when it comes to the lyrics and despite being one of those people who focuses on lyrics A LOT, I’ve had this song on repeat since it came out. It makes me feel good and that’s exactly what this song is meant to do/be. Not every single song is meant to have a deeper meaning and/or strong lyrics. There are a ton of songs out there just like this one and those are often the ones that end up becoming hits, too. So, even if I agree with this being one of Shania’s weakest songs lyrically speaking, some of the stuff I’m reading on this forum is making me really uncomfortable. The following part above all.
“She is almost 60 years old can’t she write a song that has actual depth and meaning. She ain’t 30 years old anymore.”
I’ve never disagreed with a comment more, especially since it’s coming from a long time fan. She’s fully capable of writing songs with depth and meaning and we know that very well, but she doesn’t always choose to do that. It’s always been this way… so why bring the age factor into this. What’s a 57 year old allowed to write about then? What’s acceptable and what’s not? Funny how five years ago she released NOW which had some of her best and most autobiographical lyrics to date, yet everybody complained that the songs were not that catchy, not as good as her previous stuff and so much more that has been said throughout the years. I find it very ironic how people are complaining about Shania releasing too many bops now… It’s like whatever she does is not good enough and that’s just sad to see.
As far as TikTok is concerned, I couldn’t care less about that app and I’m not even aware about what goes on on there, thankfully. I downloaded it years ago and deleted it from my phone a few hours later. I think it’s quite obvious that the whole TikTok marketing thing is the best way for this music to reach the younger generation. And THAT is totally fine with me.
