THE "NO" SHANIA TALK ROOM

Well have to admit...I have zero idea where this post will take us..Personally I am really excited about it but I am quiet often the ugly duckling on alot of things so having said that you guys might hate this ROOM...
Personally I feel that even though we are all here for one common reason we are people as well...We are not just laptops but I kinda feel we conduct ourselves like we are...Yes it is wonderful to talk about Shania but I kinda feel this could be a fun place to go when you just want to rant, tell a funny story about your day, tell us how p'd off you are because this is the third staright year your mom has said no to a mothers day invite OR maybe tell us all tell us how lucky we are to have a mother....BOTTOM LINE...For the amount of time we spend talking I think the entire site would be so much better if we all knew each other a bit better and had this little room to go to.....NOW....Internet security...Personally I do not buy that concern in this type a forum...Lets take Lulu...(if that is her real name)...Lives in a massive country with somewhere around 40 million people...If lulu is afraid to give anything to this ROOM  due to internet security my question would be...You must be totally terrified if someone pulls up beside you in your car, sees what you look like and can see your Licence plate number..................
SO Why would Lulu be afraid to post something like  WOW guys...Bad day...First of all I slept in,then my hair went flat,,got to my car..Flat tire...2 hours later I get to work and was told not to be late again, then my computer crashed so we got sent home early with no pay....No doubt this is just an example...Personally I feel it could be funny at times, maybe tears at times...I think it is what we need...I will finish it off this way... Again I will pick Lulu....Lulu and Jim are at a party and meet a couple for first time(will never see them again)..I think I would be right to say Lulu would have no problem telling this person within 10 minutes(if asked)...how long they have been married, where they got married, how long living in BC, what kind of car they drive and so on...BUT US...who she spends endless hours with...Not too much...Internet Security on a Tommy site...NO WAY....Some people just like to lay low...Don't quite understand why on a simple forum site.
ANYHOW...I hope this will be a fun place..I throw it out there..It is now up to us...I will have a p'd off story a bit later that cost me $200 bucks and is now in bottom of Georgian Bay...  By the way...I picked Lulu as I know she will have an opinion(for or against) this concept as she thankfully always does, and which I respect...Bob

Well Bob, I think it is a good idea but I also think it would be wise to think about internet security too. So maybe we could proceed with that in mind. My cat got me up at 5:30 this morning....I would have liked to sleep in (now of course that cat is sleeping). We have 2 delightful cats name Guiness and Kilkeney Yes, they are named after beer and we did not change their names once we adopted them. Besides they really suit their names lol. Jim and I met out here but Jim is originally from Alberta. He took to the milder weather out here like a fish takes to water lol. We've been joined at the hip for over 20 years now and are still going strong. We both love country music and we both love Shania. My mother passed on quite sometime ago and I think about her this time of year. She loved mother's day. We will be spoiling Jim's mom this mother's day. I am very fortunate to love my Mother in Law she is a wonderful person. It is a glorious day out here today. Sunny and fairly warm. Our lilac tree out back is fully blossomed everything else is lush and green with the garden pretty well blooming. Well I think that is enough of my rambling for now hope everyone has a terrific day.

Personally I loved it and would not call it rambling at all...See... now Christina who is also a cat lover knows about your cats and maybe you have connected even better...I did notice though that you simply responded to my ideas which is a start but the whole idea is from time to time just log in and talk..   Bob

Hello..My name is Bob..Actually Robert..I was born in a little village called Churchville Ontario..My parents were vegeatable farmers..Middle income type..It met Cindy when she was just a babe in grade 11...We have been together since..I graduated high school.. I went to college and did very well but thought I would love police work..Ended up I didn't for alot of reasons..Left..Opened company businness which we still run today.. We are a distibutor of frozen, unbaked desserts...For example we sell muffin mix but sell it in 33 pound pails..All the customer does is scoop and bake..Same with things like cookies..Sell them in boxs of 250..All you do is throw them on a pan and bake..It is called bake off and it is how ALL bakeries with the very odd exception bake today..The days of scratch are over... By the way we buy our cookies from English Bay cookie batter..The English Bay name should tell you where there head office is located... We have a 27 year old daughter(kristy)..She has moved out but still lives close by..That leaves Cindy and I and sasha our yellow lab..We live in Midland Ontario on a nice one acre bush lot..Lots of privacy..animals and stuff... Do not have a broad range of friends..We prefer fewer but better friends..Winters pretty laid back..Summers non stop on the water....Thats enough for now

By the way...Since this is a TALK room anybody can talk about anything as long as it is within Tommys rules..BUT..On top of that I think I am going to name next week Pet Peeve week(not sure of spelling).. The things in life that totally drives you crazy...I have TONS of them which is maybe how I ended up this way..Anyhow...Load them up and blast them out
Another that I think might be fun would be...Most embarassing moment.. Man I have some crazy ones.... ANYHOW...I have lots of ideas but that is all the goodies for now...

I really hope this works and think it could be fun ... Hey 2nd....This would be the perfect place for you to come and rant about the refs after the 4-0 thrashing by the pens....Lulu...I would LOVE to get a handle on both the good AND bad as far as the games changing the city... Country Gal...I would love to know alot more about Greece...Tommy... You lay so low it is hard for me to know what I would like to hear, but I am sure you got alot of great stories...AND...All the rest of you guys that do not log on as much but still have alot to share...that would be great too..
As I said...I can't go on talking to laptops...For me it is WAY to shallow and besides lets by honest...We are not in the Shania hay days right now and to keep the place fun to come to this is my idea...
But...I Really don't want to be the social convenor here...If anybody else has some crazy ideas...Count me in...Bob

MMMMmmmmthose cookies sound good. I have seen English Bay cookie batter in one of our local grocery stores is that (they look delicious) is that the batter your company sells? I will buy a tub eventually which do you recommend. Where abouts is Micland, Ontario...is it near Toronto? What a positive vibe company to have....everyone likes baked goods. I guess I should have included in my brief history that I am an rn and Jim is an intake worker for the Government (yup he's one of those). I have been having difficulty accessing this site...has anyone else had difficulty? Looking forward to reading more about our friends that post here.

OH MY LORD...Lulu..I missed it the first time...You are a NURSE....Not sure if you know it but we have another nurse on this site..Will leave it up to her to bring it up though..Actually I am pretty freaked out over this..My experiences with nurses are horrible...Being on the police I was always in emerg...RN's hated the police and we hated them...Two head strong fields meeting together..We would always be pushing for info on the patient who just got beaten up or whatever...the nurses would always put us in our places...kind like..hey copper...your on my turf now....Having said that every copper I knew was always trying to date them...Knowing what you know from your end and me from mine....about one chance in a hundred it would ever work.....What do you do...So many fields for RN's...  PS...My temperature my whole life runs about 97...Is that normal??

Hello Canadian friends, neighbors to the north. I don't think the Flyers Pens series has started yet, so no ranting yet. smile.gif

I'm proud to say I've made good friends in Shania cyber land and its nice to know a few have made their way to this site. It's a cozy little place.

My story is known by a few already, but to the rest, I am Joe, live in Pennsylvania, was born in Long Island New York, have moved around a few places, actually in the process of moving again this month. I enjoy remodeling houses and moving on to the next project. Maybe one day I'll find the perfect place and settle. I also work with my father in the alternative health field even though I went to school for Forestry. I am of immigrant parents, who came to this country on the run from communism. Former Czechoslovakia. Have one sister 15 years older than me. Strong family bond. Old fashioned in nature. And recently got a new puppy, black lab, Dino.

Go Speed Racer.

I am into MAJOR herbal supplements...Spend ALOT on them but KNOW they work...Since I went onto immune booster supplements at the first sign of a cold,I can TRUELY say I have not had any kind of cold since(about 10 years).....Also...I know of 3 friends who's world was totally changed thanks to the miracle of St Johns Wort...After years of prescription garbage they finally listened to people from your field...Needless to say the 20/20 special with Barbara Walters that really woke North America up to this miracle product sure helped millions  COOL...Bob

2nd....Top sellers in Canada...Kyolic Garlic, Saw Palmetto,Ginkgo ...Also Echinechea  and of course(the life changer) St Johns Wort  ....Maybe of intrest to you..I buy top price stuff.. Was told in this field especially, going cheap is throwing money away... I buy Sisu(out of Vancouver),as well as A Vogel(also out of Vancouver)...Not sure if they export but it is oustanding quality but not cheap...Actually Sisu were the company that put Ester C into the market...I use their vitamin line (multi) as well... If find so many people who go on a GOOD regular daily vitamin feel so much better in just a couple of weeks...Anyhow...Thought it might intrest you  as to the top sellers in Canada..Of course Suisse brand outsells them all but you get what you pay for ...Bob

Hi Bob, hi 2nd ammendment and all. Yes Bob I am a nurse and my field is oncology but I have worked in pretty well all areas. That is so funny about the nurse/police officer relationships where you are from. Over hear nurses/policemen get along well and yes they do date and some get married as well. (I have a friend who married a policement 18 years ago and they too are going strong ). Its also true that the police like dating nurses....it must be a uniform thing I think lol.

I too am into supplements both herbal and vitamins. I don't know how many colds I would have had if it were not for echinechea and other immune boosters. Jim and I bought a juicer and we are now going to start juicing. Maybe we will evolve into a vegetarian diet I don't know right now we are enjoying a diet that includes meat. We have never eaten a lot of red meat though. Anyway I am a firm believer in alternative medicine. I feel that an individual gets the best in health care if they balance out both alternative and general medicines.

OK Gang...Decided to start my PET PEEVE venting today...I have tons of them as I am sure we all do...This one happened to me Saturday at our local nursery..I have ALWAYS hated this one. Sometimes I could just scream but what is the sense...Anyhow...I was there to pick up 2 bags of lawn fertilizer...I got in line to pay..2 people ahead of me...I wait my turn to get to the front to pay..Only about 5 minutes...So now I am at the front ready to pay....AND THEN IT HAPPENS....The phone rings...Good afternoon..Native Woods Nursery... For at least 10 minutes they discuss all the different kinds of roses they carry, when to plant, how much water...SOMEBODY SHOOT ME.....How the hell does a lazy phone call from somebody stretched out at home on a couch eating bon bons move ahead of me....It drives me NUTS but happens alot...Actually I am getting worked up the more I type....Maybe this Pet Peeve posting isn't so good of an idea after all.....ANYHOW....Would love to hear others...Bob

I completely understand your frustration and anger. I almost had the same experience here. I had an appointment this afternoon for a pedicure....I was running late and I like to pay ahead of time. My turn came up at the receptionists's desk and she decides to take a call and stay on the phone and chat granted it was about services and prices etc with me standing there. She finally put the women on hold and I was able to proceed. So I can just imagine you so well at the Nursery. I have no other thing to rant about today. Its beautiful and sunny and warm I hope the rest of your day went better.

Hey 2nd....How about a hockey pool.... How about an under/over bet...Winner has bragging rights... It would be on the Penns/Flyers series...TOTAL GOALS...Since I get to pick the number, you get to pick over or under...Believe it or not picking the number is tough because if I go too low or too high with the number I basically hand you the pool...On top of that I have to take into consideration number of games as well as goaltenders.,offence ,defence...Having said all that here is the number.........39....WOW....EXELLENT NUMBER...Sweating abit Joey Boy....UNDER OR OVER...If exactly 39 scored...Break even

Hey Bob, yes this is my second lab, first I had a chocolate. I use to have a german shepherd mixed with malamute 14 years. I know what you mean about labs, lol.

As for your bet on the hockey, I think 39 is OVER. We'll see how that turns out.

I'm thrilled to hear you guys are into alternative health and herbal remedies. Keeping a good diet is important too. I haven't had a serious cold in five years. Our family story began in 1993 when dad had quadruple bypass surgery to his heart. He followed along with the doctor's recommendations and got nowhere. He was sick and weak. As the time was going, 1997 he had a bleeding ulcer and collapsed on the floor from the aspirin he was taking. That changed everything.

He had been self educating and threw away all his meds and went natural. He got involved with juicing, Norman Walker, Bernard Jensen material. He got his certification as a Colon Hygienist and from that a business was born. Iridology too. I have now been along side him since 2005. It a wonderful and satisfying field to be in. I enjoy helping people win their health back and overcome major illness that some doctors told these people there was no more help. I'm not keen on the medical establishment. I know in Canada its more accepting of these alternative choices as in the US they have the people brainwashed that doctors are gods and nothing is better than prescriptions. They are garbage. They do not solve the problem.

And we all know the woman who this forum is dedicated to agrees with us too on natural choices and diet, lol. She's a good example.

As for which brands I choose, I don't believe the more expensive a product is, the better it is. A lot of the expensive stuff can be false and synthetic even if they say its 100% natural. I use Nature's Way and NOW products or get the dry herb itself from a farm or my garden. These brands are quiet affordable, cheap actually but they are good. I use a pendulum or I muscle test people to see if they need a certain supplement and the products I use tend to work while many others choices people bring in are found not to. It's an interesting sight.

HI 2nd, Hi Bob. My next idea (besides the Shania Poll) was to start a hockey poll so I hope I can be included. Yes 2nd, I am a firm believer in Alternative Medicine. I think its great that you and your dad are in business together. Helping people regain their health is so rewarding and most importantly how great that your father got his health back. I see that you are familiar with Juicing too...maybe you could recommend a good book on this subject for me...we are completely green on this subject. Now back to hockey I believe the Flyers are going to go all the way. They are playing with a lot of heart. Bob is your evening going better?

Hi lulu, yes, my father who once had major heart problems and did the open heart surgery has come so far that he is as strong as ever, nothing slows him down, and he is meds and doctor free 11 years! Hawthorns berries, garlic, and ginger were the main three. The medical establishment can't convince me that we can't regain our health to the point where we are cured and drug and pain free. I'm living witness to the miracles of nature.

Juicing, I would recommend books by Norman Walker first most. The man is a wizard, he's like the juice master (the father of juicing), and he lived to be over 100 and still rode horses! Juices, raw diets and all that, hmm... reminds me of some gal who lives in Switzerland now, lol, perhaps reading the same books?

And Bob I'll look into Sisu from Canada. I'm not familiar with them.

Let's Go Flyers!

smileHello Guys and Galls,
well,here's my story:
my names is Christina and  i was born in'81in Athens, both of my parents are from this island where i live now,we moved here about 6 months ago.
i've never been married or engaged and i have no children, but i do have 3 catswink
one is named Reba(yes after McEtinrebiggrin)the other is Jenny and the third one has no name.
i hate red meatblehand i love ice cream and basically all kinds of sweets,so Bob if i ever visit you, your business will be in troublefuriousbiggrin.

as for the nurses i think it's more like 50/50,some are good and some don't care much.
from my personal experience ,when i was in hospital after a car accident,i 'd say most of them were nice.
the very first night that i arrived the Head nurse wanted to wash my leg which it was crashed, but i was there for just a few hours i wasn't dirty,so imagine my pain when she squeezed my leg,i was screaming but she kept on.
but it was another nurse that was awesome, she came every morning just to check if i was ok,and she taught me how to turn the other way, because i couldn't move my leg so i used my arms, something that  none of the doctors bothered to do.
it is a difficult job and sometimes it can be really disgusting,Lulu would know what i mean.

and Joe you know how i feel about your profession, smileit is very interesting ,maybe you could teach us a thing or twowink

that's all for now, more to come later...

Hi Tina: So nice to read your post. I love the names of your 2 cats...are you going to name the 3rd one? I have a real sweet tooth too mayber we will both have the opportunity to raid Bob's business lol. It sounds like you were seriously injured I am so glad you recovered and at least had the experience of a few kind nurses. Talk to you later.

Yes, you get god and bad in all professions. For me it is, I came to the conclusion, the medical world can do amazing and wonderful things with science and all that, but I would rather use them for mend broken bones and when you are seriously injured in an accident and going in and fixinf becomes necessary.

When it comes to my wellbeing and how to prevent and cure illness, I stick to listening to my own body and taking necessary procedures through food, nature, and old world knowledge, techniques that really understand the body and how everything inside is interrelated and is in a working system.

And thanks for sharing Tina. Again, I' glad you have recuperated as well as you have from such a serious accident.

Hey Lulu, yeah let's eat those cookies yum yum
about my third cat here'es the story,i found it on the street and she was blind and very skinny, actually she is shorter than it should be she wasn't fed properly, and at first i thought she was a boy so i named her George but after a couple moths when i finally figired that she is a girl i obviously stoped calling her George and i haven't renamed her ever since.

Hey Joe,you are right good and bad everywhere,as for broken bones, yes you need medical help for those,as for mine ,they 've put a steel rod inside the marrow ouch,it was really bad and i'm quite lucky that i can walk again.
actually one of the docs told me that if it was broken a few inches closer to my pelvis i would be paralyzed, man i was in shock when i heard that.

btw,f i put a slice of ginger inside my green tea every morning would,or this is not a right way???

Yes 2nd Ammendment General Medicine has its place in well being but is not effective enough in prevention. There has to be balance between the two fields but there rarely is unfortunetly. I think General Medicine is slowly coming to accept other realms of practice but it still has such a long way to go. Many are still closeminded on this subject. I agree Joe we need to listen to our own bodies.

Tina, I hope you name your cat. How lucky that cat is that you came along. Having pets is wonderful. I really believe we get more out of the relationship than our pets do lol. Boy it really sounds like you were very lucky Tina. I am so glad you made a full recovery. Having ginger in tea sounds good. I have not been able to give up my coffee in the morning yet. It is my one vice. Maybe now that we are getting into juicing I will stop you never know. I do really enjoy my coffee in the morning. Bye for now.

Hi Bob: I keep thinking about your below temp body temp. and I have to say I have never come across this in my entire career. I honestly don't know what to make of it. Out of curiosity what have you been told? Have you also got a low metabolic rate as well? I would think there are some advantages to this.

well i was trying to ask Joe if a slice of ginger would help, but i should edit before i post lol

Lulu you said the right word "Prevention" that's where we need to pay attention to.
if we drink whiskey every day and eat red meat 5 times a week, then how we won't get a heart attack?
btw a recent research found that the average Greek eats red meat 5 times a week, yikes horrorable,i think i will never get married he he

most vegetarians don't drink coffee,i don't know why maybe Joe could help us with that, but they drink kiwi juice instead.
i like to drink banana, orange and ginger juice,it burns your throat a little bit because of the ginger, but it is great.

Hey Lulu, this particular cat of mine everytime she hears my voice runs my way,it's like she's grateful that i adopted her,she recognizes me.

lol at being a freak of nature Bob. I definately would not go that far. I just have never come across anyone having a low temp like that. Do you find you need to sleep a lot or not? Do you have high energy levels or low...I am curious is all. I don't think anything bad about your temp...it must be just you. As for food Jim and I enjoy pizza and natchos and all the good stuff too. We are though interested in making some changes at this point though and have already started. It does not mean you can't enjoy a pizza now and then though. (I think if Jim thought that it would be the end of the so called health kick lol). Juicing is something we have been interested in doing we just have not gotten around to it until now.

Thanx for the recommendation on the book 2nd, I will pick it up.

As for the hockey scores. Good goalie or not it is going to be a high scoring series...thats my 2 cents worth.

Second nurse jumping in. Bob your temp is low because you are a cool cat. I'm a nurse who feels kindness and touch can heal as much as medicine. Name for your blind cat Georgia? girl's name similar to George. Like suppliments , just got juicer but have no clue what to do with it. Got it for Xmas. Always have had pets, especially raising 6 boys. Now have 3 dogs, hot dog named Oscar Meyer, pug named Mr Magoo and chichiuha named Mr Jingles after the mouse in a movie. I like to watch hockey but don't know much about it.Like learning about others on site. Bob you must relate nurses to the one in "One flew over the cucoos nest". I'm also pretty sure I'm the oldest on this site in age BUT not in spirit. Have a nice day to all.

hey Twainee nice post, yeah nurses are way better then those in movies he he
as for Georgia, i'll think about it.
btw, a question for our nurses here,i have low blood pressure is that a bad thing???

Hey Bob,i do eat pizza too, but without the meat stuff, and pasta of course yum yum
some restaurants still have room for smokers, hey we are Greeks we don't behave that much.
yeah,Greek wine is awesome,my cousin makes his own and it is fantastic, you can drink plenty without geting dizzy.
as for baklava ha ha,i think we have other better deserts than this, but that will do too.
oh,and i Love tzatziki, but you would have to have some too, because i would't like to be the ony one that reeks of garlic lol

Gez, I'm so behind on all that has been said, lol.

Tina, Ginger is very good, putting a slice in your tea is a fine idea. It will help and you say you put it in juice so that's good too. Do you cook with it as well? It's always a good idea to change it up in different forms and not taking it the same way all the time. Variety.

I've never tried banana, orange and ginger. Sounds interesting, one thing to remember, not all fruits mix well together, there are certain combinations but as long as your tummy doesn't ache after drinking it, I guess you're alright, lol.

For all those juicing and interested in juicing, I still recommend Norman Walker books.

Wow, so yet another nurse joins the crowd, lol. I'm getting scared, keep those needles away, lol!!

As for me and the immediate family, we have stayed away from medical doctors for ten year! Unless I break a bone or get hurt real real badly, that won't change. We're doing fine on our own. Heck, we even healed mom's torn ligament without seeing a doctor, all at home, all with herbs. Lulu, definitely, most (90%) of the medical field does not agree with the natural and are actually trying to stifle it. All about the money! kind of sad.

As for junk eating, I too partake in pizza, red meat, wings on seldom occasions. Especially if I have to go out with some friends. Beer and junk, lol, but not often. It's hard having mostly real country bumpkin friends (rednecks) who love that stuff, lol, but some are good or better about it too now that college life is over. We hunt and fish which is better than the stuff they raise on a farm loaded with hormones and whatnot and zapped with chemicals in the process on the way to the grocery store. But I think with time most of us try and improve.

Hello twainee...you and I have some things in common I too have been trained in therapeutic touch it is very much a part of Nursing where I am at. I also doubt you are the oldest here but we are young where it matters our heart. Is not Shania a terrific artist who brings together people of all ages and backgrounds. The concerts I have been to had young children with their parents, and people ranging in age from their 30's to the 70's what can I say but that Shania rocks. I agree Bob is a cool cat.

Country gal, I am sure your cat is so grateful you took him in. How fortunate for your cat that you did. Being blind he would have had a hard time finding food. How are you liking where you live now? You've been there awhile does it feel like home? Is the internet service better now lol? Like Bob I love baclava too lol.

2nd Ammendment you are right. Doctors do want to protect their role in health care. There was opposition to midwives practicing here basically for those reasons. I am happy to say thru a lot of lobbying etc Mid wives do practice here and things have changed...Doctors for the most part are supportive of them. Change can be threatening to some I guess if not all.

Bob you must feel better now knowing that most of us will enjoy a pizza and natchos and all the other good things (lol) in life. I will try your coookies next time I am in the store I will pick up a tub. They sound very good. Thank you so much for starting this thread Bob it really is nice getting to know a bit about the people who post here.

Yes, Shania has brought people of all ages together. I think everyone has a simialr experience while at a concert. Small children that absolutely adore her, their parents, and people from their 20s up to their retirement years. It's wonderful.

Glad it worked out for the midwives in your area. That would a shame if such a wonderful practice was denied. I know they all feel threated, because if everyone made the switch, that would be billions and trillions of dollars lost with unnecessary procedures along with "maintaining" illness rather than eliminating. There would be very few sick left for them, lol.

Okay, tonight it's pizza and beer, lol.

You're right Bob, the crappier days do help make us appreciate the better days. Hopefully you'll have a better one tomorrow.

Oh and Fluery has been playing great in net, although I think Biron has done pretty well too. It should be an interesting goalies duel.

Game 1 tomorrow.

Hello everyone: I have not had a beer for quites sometime. Lost my taste for it lol. Country gal your bean stew sounds good. It should be an interesting game tonite. I hope it does not hurt the Flyers to have lost their star defencemen. I still think the series will go 6 games but the Flyers will win. Our goalie is hot

Bob, I hope you are having a better day.

Well some mistakes were made in Game 1 and the top players of Pittsburgh capitalized. Those turnovers will kill us every time.
